Had a terrible experience here. I brought in my tacoma after adding a lift and suspension for an alignment. They said it would take 45 minutes so I left my truck there at around 11am. Nobody called all day so around 3pm I called and asked about the alignment. They said "it will be done in 25 mins". I go pick it up and drive it back home to notice the camber was so off that it was visible to the naked eye. I call they said "oh our alignment guy went home early today I'll call you tomorrow". Never got a call back. I had to call them and they said oh..."bring it in and we will show you the read out". The read out was in spec but nobody even bothered to come outside and look at the vehicle. Disappointed I took it to Allen tire and asked for a second opinion. They were quick and let me know that I was indeed correct and the camber was quite off and would cause tire wear. They called me and had the car fixed within an hour and it was cheaper. I called Grand Prix back to let them know that the alignment was indeed off and that I would appreciate a refund to which they wanted me to bring in my new read out. I don't think its worth the time arguing with them again so I figured I would take to yelp to help others out. Save the time, save the money, get it done right the first time. Don't go here. this was a pleasant experience for me. I brought my car in cause a tire had a screw in it and it was getting flat slowly. the service was prompt and friendly. the tire guy checked the tire first and did not find the screw, or a leak. I explained that the screw was in the tire for about 2 weeks, and must have come out.. He took it off the rim then and repaired it, inflated all my tires ( even the spare). the wait was long, but not unreasonably so. they have comfie chairs and cable tv in the waiting area. They didn't try to sell me anything i didn't need or want. I will go back to Grand Prix for my tires when i need them in at the end of the year. great service. read more

Outstanding customer service at Grand Prix Performance!!! I requested a quote through there website to mount new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on my 2013 Porsche Panamera S. Within 30 minutes, I received a quote from Lee. The tires were in stock and very reasonably priced. No appointment was necessary and my new tires were mounted in about an hour! I also needed new brakes. Lee gave me a quote for new OEM rotors, pads, sensors and labor. I went back the next day to have the brakes installed. Again, the customer service was excellent! The new brakes were installed in about 3 hours as promised. Everyone at Grand Prix Performance was very professional. The business has a comfortable waiting area, tv and free wi-fi. They will charge you one amount for a service and then just days later try and charge you a much higher amount for the SAME exact service. OVER $240 just to mount and balance tires!! I bought some rims from this shop 6 years ago. Pretty standard stuff- picked out some custom rims, they put them on and I rolled around for 6 years. Then some guy hit me, pushed my car into a curb and broke my front rim. When I went to Grand Prix I was already reserved to the fact that I may have to get an oddball rim cuz I really wasn't ready to buy four new rims for a vehicle 6 years. But Lee at GP came to the rescue! He looked up my old purchase, got on the phone and had my exact replacement rim in the afternoon. The next morning they took me right in and I'm on the road again. Been coming to this shop for years. They take care of us every single time. From tires, to just friendly customer service, these guys are the best shop in OC Hands Down! Once you come in, you'll be a customer for life! Example: I have been going to this shop since the early 2000's. Although, I get all of my tires there, I ventured off and bought some china reproduction rims off of craigslist. Bad Idea. There was a lot of shaking in the front end....Well, after taking it back to the rim shop where we bought the rims and tires, they claimed to have balanced the rims again, but there was still a lot of shaking. I took it down to Gran Prix, because honestly that's the only place I trust with my tires. and they gave me the real breakdown of what was happening. They found that the lug nuts these other guys put on my truck didn't even fit!! Danny at Gran Prix kindly replaced them with factory lugs! Also, the rims did not fit properly, which Danny also helped explain that these rims aren't made for these trucks, and they need an extra piece. Again saving us. He even re slated the tires, because they were so bad. Needless to say, I'll be replacing them with NON China tires! Just wanted to express my thank you to the crew over at Gran Prix, who always treats my family like part of their family. I have known Alex for many years, and have gotten to know some of the guys down there, and it's just an awesome Family run environment, and we couldn't be more happy with our experience here. Have been working with Jerry and Berj for over 25 years. Have bought at least 15 sets of custom wheels. My last issue was I was stranded in Edmonds WA with a tire leaking air continuously, took it to a local vender and it turned out to be a leak in the rim (12 years old) which no one in Seattle could or wanted to fix (7 inch offset). I called Grand Prix and worked with Lee. He was great and I told him the situation. He said send the rim and we'll fix it asap. They rebuilt the 3 piece rim and chromed it. Their service was less time than Fed Ex took getting it there and back. I have always counted on Grand Prix and Lee lived up to all my expectations. Could not have had a worse experience here. Brought in my Range Rover to have my tires rotated ($20 bucks), no big deal right? I have really expensive wheels ($8,000 yeah its a little overboard) so I would only go to a reputable shop. Got off to a good start when the manager said no charge. I appreciated this gesture although most shops will do this as a means to gain your patronage. After waiting a half hour the manager casually told me there was a little problem and that "no good deed goes undone". Im thinking WTF? It seemed the boneheads who work in the service area forgot to put the lug nuts back on one of my wheels prior to putting the car on the ground. Duh! This was no small screwup but I was in a chill mood and figured they would make it right for the $2k wheel that was damaged. Making it right by fixing with manufacturer parts. Not only was the manager non-apologetic but refused to make it right and said they would only fix the wheel with a part from their lower end in-house brand which he indicated was worth $150. When I said I would not accept that he offered me $150 bucks and basically kicked me out the door. I paid $300 to have my wheel fixed correctly and never bothered to come back for the $150 as these guys were such jerks I didn't want to waste any more of my time dealing with them. What happened to the good old days of making things right for the customer? Buyer beware of going to GP Performance, you may end up regretting it! read more

I've dealt with this shop 3 times. the last 2 time this berj guy was very rude and condescending . he tells me one thing on the phone and when I get there he changes the story and jacks up the wheel price. when I asked him about it he tells me I should have know in his very condescending voice. I went to Grand Prix Performance recently to purchase a set of new tires for my car and this place really rocks! I have driven by their shop in Costa Mesa (Newport Blvd) several times and they are always busy so I thought that I should stop in and check them out. On the outside, their shop is huge with several service bays and numerous employees changing tires and wheels on all kinds of cars and SUV's. Inside they have the largest wheel showroom that I have ever seen with numerous wheels displayed throughout plus they have a nice customer lounge with a large flat screen TV, wi-fi and plenty of comfortable seating... I found their staff to be very helpful while they were going over the different tire options for my car and I was pleasantly surprised that their price for Michelins was lower than what my local Costco wanted to charge so that is what I decided to purchase for my car. They had the tires in stock and told me that it would be just a little while for them to put the tires on my car. I sat in their Customer lounge, watched a little TV, checked my emails and before I knew it they came over and told me that my car was all ready to go. I am glad that I finally stopped in and I know that I will return to Grand Prix when I am ready to upgrade my wheels! They made me feel right at home and my tires are perfect. read more

The Alignment Experience from Hell - Part Two (Grand Prix Performance) (Look up Firestone Complete Auto Care, Costa Mesa for Part One of this saga. http://www.yelp.com/biz/firestone-complete-auto-care-costa-mesa?hrid=2lvGhYgWJmRejE4uOCE3UA) After conferring with my mechanic about the seriously unbalanced and misaligned vehicle, he suggested that I take the car to Grand Prix Performance. I have been to the shop before, but not in a good fifteen years. I bought a full set of Yokohama AVS Intermediates for my Datsun 510 and had their exhaust guy make a custom exhaust for it in the early 2000s. They were not unknown to me and honestly, next to Glenns Alignment, Grand Prix is one of the most respected shops in Costa Mesa when it comes to wheels, alignments and suspension. I brought my car in and they were not very busy. I explained to them the situation with Firestone and the supposedly "unbalanceable" front wheel. I asked them if they would be willing to diagnose it for me and correct it if it could be corrected. They agreed that they could handle it and I left my car with them. About half an hour later, they tell me that they have figured out what is wrong and they take me back to the shop. All four wheels are off of the car and one of the owners explains to me that the tire isn't mounted right. Yet, he doesn't seem to want to deal with it. He tells me that it is "Not worth his time" to make it right because I am not buying anything from him. (Keep in mind, I was completely willing to pay for a diagnostic fee and labor. Up until this encounter I had respect for these guys, their business and their time. I did not expect them to do anything for free.) I asked if it could be aligned, and he tells me that the back tires are completely worn and that he will not align it because it is not safe. I was not planning on buying new tires at the time (I had only had the front two replaced at Firestone) and so I explained that to him. He basically told me to bugger off at that point, told his guys to put the car back together and told me to get out of his shop. To his credit, the back tires WERE severely worn, pretty much down to the steel belt. I had not planned on purchasing new tires because I did not have the money and I figured I could go a couple more weeks. (For those of you who know anything about alignments, the insides were severely worn which indicates too much negative camber. This factors in later.) After calming down and trying to see where the guy was coming from, I decided to finance some tires and another alignment on the credit card so that these guys would fix my alignment and get my car to the point where it was safe to drive again. To their credit, they did give me a very good deal on the tires, and were able to get the exact tires that I wanted in less than two hours. This obviously speaks to how long they have been in business, and how well they know their business. After a few hours in their nice show room where I was able to get some work done, they give my car back to me. The steering wheel shake was gone, which is a plus for them. It did not drive anywhere near straight, but after all of the negativity, I did not want to take the car back to them and ask them to fix it. If you are in the market for a good, professionally done alignment in Costa Mesa, there are better places to go than there. If you want a good deal on tires, these guys will probably take care of you. I won't do business with them again, but hey... they have plenty of positive reviews. (For the Third and final part of this saga, look up Accurate Alignment in Orange. They are the ones who figured out what was wrong with my alignment. Spoiler - The rear was not aligned AT ALL. So despite the guys at Grand Prix diagnosing the fact that my tires were seriously worn due to what was obviously a camber issue, and then taking my money to align the car... they only aligned the front. Good job guys! It is not like I was jumping up and down demanding my car back. Their waiting area is very nice. I was perfectly content to hang out for as long as it took for them to do the job right.) read more

I was recommended to Grand Prix for a bad tire on my new Porsche Turbo Macan by Newport Porsche. Somehow, I managed to pick up a nail within a few months of purchasing my SUV. Not only were they incredibly friendly and fast, but they took pity on me and charged me minimally. Family operated, efficient and excellent with customer relations. I'm not even sure if these guys do good work or not because every time I go in there to get a price they are extremely rude and unwilling to help. I just went there today 7-31-15 to get a front alignment on my Mercedes G wagon and I simply asked them if they could match a price that I got down the street at Allens tires for $70. When I asked to match the price (they charge $85) the old man with white hair barked at me and said "I am insulted you even asked, take ur car someplace else" it was really rude how he handled the situation and even the employees were embarrassed by his behavior. But that's no surprise. There is a short bald guy that is always there who is just as rude and treats people like he is better than them. Anyway, just a heads up if you are thinking of going here. I LOVE Grand Prix. What's not to love? You get personal, perfect service from a family owned company with prices that are seriously competitive. I am not kidding, you would think they would be expensive because they always have incredible luxury cars surrounding the shop but that is so not the case. My brother shopped them for tires and found them to be the same price as Costco. I was just so impressed with their service and attention to detail. Did I mention they made the most ridiculous custom wheels for my car? Seriously.... their son owns MINT wheels so they where able to have MINT make custom wheels for my car. Seriously impressive! Went in to see if they can mount tires on some very expensive Carbon wheels. One of the staff (who I had spoken to on the phone) looked at the wheels and said "I assumed you weren't an idiot on the phone, but I thought they may have been wrapped and not real carbon fiber." After waiting for about 15-20 mins, with constant deliberation on whether they can mount the tires or not, I was told by the owner that he would charge me $600 and up to mount tires to the wheels. I expected to pay more than usual, as the wheels are pretty exotic and require very careful handling, but I was not expecting that amount. I asked why they would be charging me this much, and the owner replied they needed to take off some plastic components from the wheels. At this point I hesitated and asked if they knew how to remove the particular components to which the owner replied " I don't need to explain anything to you", along with some other insulting comments. Suffice it to say, the price was atrocious and I was not confident in their ability to do the work. I know for a fact there should be no disassembly of the wheel when it comes to mounting tires. I left, and took my business to BBI Autosport who handles exotic cars and they took great care of me. Avoid this place if you can. read more

I bought a car from a guy that sold me his Mercedes ML 320. He spent over $3,000 on tires at the shop two months prior to me buying the car. I noticed a bubble on the side wall of the tire and figured it was under warranty. Birch told me it was under warranty and so I figured it'd be at no cost. But then after the repairs had been made he told me it was $254 for the tire. Wow!! Nice bait and switch there Birch!!
