Dr. Shannon Stanek, OD is a true gem. I've been cooking here for over two years and really like them.

I am wildly unimpressed with this facility. The staff is overwhelmed with work and that NEGATIVELY…read moreimpacts the patient care. I have very bad eyes and unfortunately have to come here. I don't have many choices when it comes to retina specialists in the area. Doctor Korot is very knowledgeable, but did not spend a lot of time with me. This was hard as a patient. I get other patients might have more urgent needs, but if I waited over two hours to see you because my retina is detaching, I'd appreciate better "bedside manner." Annual check ups matter too!!! If I could get a referral to a different doctor, I would change offices. Second reason I do not recommend this office: my appointments have been canceled last minute, and rescheduling is damn near impossible. I can never get anyone on the phone! The folks who do take calls don't work in the office and have to leave a note with the office. It took over five times for me to call and leave a message to get a returned call! Again very frustrating from the patient side. Finally, paying a bill is more difficult than it should be. You get the bill in the mail with a number to call. But guess what? The operators say the office is busy and they'll "call you back." I'm not sure what else can be done, aside from going into the office to pay my bill. I would argue that you have to go to the office to schedule and pay bills in person because the phone and email do not seem to work. Please do better, retina specialists of Michigan. You can hire more people to help with admin work, this might actually help patients.

The main desk people were sweet and super nice and patient. Seems like the care quality is good. I just rated it a 2/5 because we got here at 1pm and ended up staying here past 6pm. For the longest time we waited in a room was over 45min and at the 40min mark they finally came in and let us know what was going on. just Plan to be here for a while I guess.

I'm not sure how they get such high ratings for children. They definitely do not know how to treat…read morechildren's fears. The reception staff acts like your presence is an inconvenience. They dilated my 6yrs eyes and then left us in a room for 40 minutes giving her enough time to work herself in a frenzy of fear. Then they got impatient with her for her anxiety attack. By the time we left she was in full panic attack. Then we get to our appt for her glasses. The day of radio silence so we thought all was well.... wrong... apparently they tried to call me multiple times. They had my phone number wrong, buy didnt even try to call dad. They then sent an email a hour before our appt as we were on the road to the appt to inform us the glasses weren't in. They gave such attitude when we got in like why did I give them the wrong number... I didn't... they did that to themselves. Plus they also had dads number. They also had all day to send an email and not RIGHT before the appt. Definitely will be will looking for an alternative pediatric optometrist. Do not take your children here. We ended up getting recheck at the Grandville office and they were so kind and amazed at how bad the Holland office messed up my daughter's prescription.

I called ahead of time to ask about these and was assured that staff would mask if requested. I have been back there at least 6 times and each time, had to remind a member of the staff to mask. Once, the response was, "Oh, now I have to go find a mask!" Dr. Tomaselli even once had to be reminded. I saw numerous patients masking and I know from experience, people are shy about asking someone to mask. It seemed as if I was the only one for whom they masked. I feel that if you are treating someone who is masking or at any rate, getting within inches of someone's face, it might be a good practice for all staff to mask. During my cataract procedure, a nurse named Mary Beth had a mask hanging off her nose, not attached in the back, so her mouth was virtually not covered the entire time. In the surgical center. Aside from the masking, there is the issue of impersonal treatment. Not once was I asked about myself or did the doctor spend more than five minutes with me. However, the wait was always at least an hour overall to get in and out of the offices. Not thrilled with the service whatsoever. Staff seemed overworked and unfriendly. The only conversation I heard was complaining about scheduling. I was very surprised that there was no online interaction with the office - for appointments, instructions or anything. Like any other medical facility in 2023! Nothing. I was given papers while sedated to explain procedures and had to call numerous times to make sure appointments were in the correct facility. Overall, not a very professional or satisfactory experience.
