My mom and I were looking forward to trying some pie at this meeting location. We were excited since we thought we unlocked a deal for a slice for $.99 with check-in. When we got there the waitresses was unsure about the deal which is fine. She checked with a male who worked there and he said yes it's right. When we went to check out he snapped at us and asked if we were dining in. I said no it was to go. He snapped back that it was for dine in only. I said we didn't see that part. He did seem to give us $1 of off one slice. We were unsatisfied with their customer service and not sure if we will return. read more

Early morning coming from the airport at 7:30 a.m., I just picked up my family who is visiting from the East Coast and wanted somewhere local to grab breakfast. I am picky about breakfast items as most of the usual restaurants like Denny's or Ihop are fresh-frozen type restaurants (you know, the frozen waffles or pre made items just heated and served). I actually wanted something "homecooked" in a way. So I like to try mom and pop places and I heard this Restaurant was pretty good. I have some family members who are picky about their meals as well. Upon first entering, there was plenty of seating, the restaurant is pet friendly with some customers having their pets outside with them. We chose to eat outside as well since it was a nice morning. The waiter came by right away, got us seated and right away asked us what beverages we wanted. I didn't find out till later, they have freshly squeezed OJ, (I will have to have a glass of that later) but we ordered our drinks and they all came out within 5 minutes. The restaurant was clean, service was very fast and upon eating the waiter came out a couple times to make sure we have everything we needed. The fact that he just didn't come by once and that's it meant a lot because you know how it goes, you get your food, it looks good, and a couple bites in you remember you wanted a bit more butter, ketchup, jam, creamer for coffee etc. The food really tasted amazing and cooked as if it were all from scratch, especially the homestyle potatoes. Excellent, excellent. I will be back here a couple more times throughout my families visit as we have some trips planned and we need a early breakfast to get us going. I will also have to try their lunch too, plenty of time for that though since we live within 5 minutes. The waiter (I forgot to get his name) was very nice and tipped him good because it is hard finding friendly waiters like that. read more

Came here while on a quick Anniversary trip with wife. Was looking for a diner type of place where I could get a good breakfast, I was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried chicken with biscuits and gravy and it was fantastic. My wife had the stuffed hash browns (hash browns stuffed with spinach and mushrooms), and she was quite pleased as well. Staff was friendly and fast, food was fantastic, very large portion so bring your appetite. Not sure if I wanted to take a nap after eating it or run a marathon to work off the calories, but I was extremely satisfied with the experience. Thank you Grandma's Kitchen looking forward to seeing you again next time we are in town. Wow, I'm not big on eating breakfast out so this review is totally unexpected. Server Ashley, was excellent: attention to detail and very positive. I made a few subs to my veggie omelette and it came out perfect and warm. The home fries were moist, warm, and very good. Hubbie got spinach omelette, pancake instead of toast and hash browns. He liked his food too. We will return. The lunch and dinner menu is diverse so hopefully we'll return soon. read more

This place honestly has great food and AMAZING staff. We came here for breakfast and had Omelettes but the portions were huge and I could barley finish. The lady refilled our coffee promptly and was very sweet! Unfortunately we did witness a rather unpleasant event: a customer had ordered food to go but retuned it immediately as he claims he didn't know that there is seating indoor and he feels unsafe eating it. I wish we'd gone to Denny's... If you're thinking charming, homey local diner, think again. This is more like low-quality food, poor service at typical prices. Atmosphere was a bit run-down, dated and depressing. Not cozy like my grandma's. My breakfast combo: 2 scrambled eggs which must've been laid by a chicken who smoked meth, because it was about 3 bites worth. 2 strips of bacon the width of a pencil. Biscuits and gravy that looked and tasted like wet cement. "Home fries" (for an extra $2.95) which were essentially soggy half-boiled potatoes with minimal seasoning . Turkey sandwich: Cajun french fries were good. White bread on sandwich was stale, like it was old and the bag was left open. My friend just ate the turkey out of the middle. Super disappointing. What's worse, I sent the "home fries" back after 1 bite and asked for french fries instead, since they were not what the server had described. The server just kept repeating they were "home fries" then brought me out a side order of fries still frozen in the middle (which I also didn't eat). She never checked to see if everything was okay, because she would have seen my fries were uneaten since they were still frozen in the middle. Had to flag her down for the check (in the near-empty restaurant) to see she charged me extra for both side items! Even though neither was prepared correctly! She looked dumbfounded when I asked why I was charged and argued with me. Obviously not too bright and poor service training. $33 later we were annoyed and still hungry. read more

I have never really had a grandmother cook for me so I am not really sure if this is a "Grandma" style of cooking or not. I guess what I am trying to say is that the food is pretty average. Not bad in any way but just plain old average. Nothing fancy or amazing, just regular food. If you are a decent cook you could probably make the same exact stuff at home but if you don't feel like cooking or if you can't (or don't) cook this is a good spot for a good price. What a gem! This is ur typical greasy spoon with great food at a decent price. Obviously it seems as if they cater to Vets, which is a good thing. Every visit I have seen numerous vets enjoying a meal. Lastly, the Shit on a Shingle (SOS) is what drew me there ( only a vet or affiliate knows what SOS is) so I had to order it my first visit. My first time at this location. I enjoyed the older place as it was relaxed and had some old school charm. The new location (formerly Junk Yard Bar) is nicer but seems to lost its appeal. The atmosphere was very hectic and stressful. It was taking 20-30 mins to get an order so there was some customer frustration. Granted I got there Sunday morning at 10:00 so may have been peak hour. The area behind the bar and entry into the kitchen is very congested and the workers are constantly bumping into each other which is problematic as everyone is hustling around. The food was good. Had breakfast today at Grandma's Restaurant. This is a mom and pop restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the 2 eggs, hash brown, bacon, and sourdough bread. This is the second time I've been here, and definitely owe it a review. The food is amazing, the staff is great, and the price is right. I was surprised when I learned they moved, the owner told me they are doing great at their new location. The biscuits and gravy are so delicious and flavorful. The sausage patty is big and juicy. I came across Grandma's via my mobile Yelp app and check-in deals. Wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews. It is definitely tucked away, but I was quite surprised at how busy they were at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. I was a little apprehensive when I first walked in. Definitely the greasy spoon type of vibe. I pulled up a chair at the counter and looked around as I waited for the waitress. The carpets are in desperate need of cleaning, walls could seriously use a coat of new paint. The menu had a lot to offer and I was very happy to see they had a breakfast burrito on the menu (that automatically comes with avocado, my fav), as this is what I had actually been craving all day. The waitress was very friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised that she was quite competent in old school waitressing. No computers, no hostess, just you and the waitress and some good old fashioned customer service (which these days can be difficult to find). She kept beverages filled, and plates cleared. Now as I sat there I looked around. And was actually quite impressed. Being that I was sitting at the counter I could see everything. The shelves were spotless and organized. The food window the same. It was one of the cleanest work areas I've seen in a while! Now if only they would paint and get that carpet cleaned. But the good thing about dirty carpet...that means that LOTS of people are eating here. And eating here on a regular basis. The waitress knew many by name, and with one customer, knew what he wanted when she saw him, and had the kitchen start his order before taking him over his beverage, all before even speaking to him. Now that's a darn good server, the likes of which I have not seen a long time! My meal comes, and my belly is happy. It was oh so tasty! And the perfect portion as well. This place is starting to feel like a small town midwest cafe...like home. I ordered up a piece of custard pie, homemade. Also quite good. They had a nice selection of pies, and it seems that they're known in the neighborhood for those homemade pies. This is not a tourist spot. This is not a high class fine dining experience. My boyfriend and I decided to visit Grandma's Restaurant last night simply because we had a BOGO coupon from the Entertainment book. I think we would have enjoyed paying full price somewhere more. The food was sub-par. I ordered the chicken parmesan and I still can't figure out what I was thinking. It was a spur of the moment decision and I've now learned why I don't order Italian food from non-Italian places. The pasta was way over-cooked and the sauce was bland. The most enjoyable part of the meal was the side salad but even that was less impressive than most restaurants. My boyfriend's French dip was dry and the coconut pie we had for dessert tasted more like lemon. Since my boyfriend will be moving across the street from this place for the next couple of months, we may try it once more for breakfast, which we assume is more their specialty. But for dinner, it's rather blah. read more
