I am not one to take the time to leave a review but I feel strongly that this needs to be said. I went for brunch with my mom today after a recommendation from her friend. From the minute we walked in, we got the impression that we were inconveniencing the wait staff just by showing up- they were rude, no greeting, and they were huddling around talking badly about some of the patrons in Spanish, assuming no one understood them, which I unfortunately did. Just not a good vibe from the start. We were seated relatively quickly, and our orders taken, but after that- CRICKETS. We sat for 57 minutes waiting for an omelette and pancakes. The only time the server came back was to toss a camping set of plastic fork and knives at us (not enough real silverware?). When we asked for a real fork, like other tables had, she rolled her eyes and said they ran out and were washing more. Again- we inconvenienced her by simply wanting a real fork and knife to eat with. If this were a $2 hot dog place, that would be understandable but when you're paying $40 for two for breakfast, real forks aren't too much of an ask. Several tables looked displeased and seemed to be waiting for a really long time for food. At one point, one of the patrons waved frantically to get the waitresses' attention only for her to wave back "hi!" and keep going. We made eye contact and acknowledged the absurdity of our collective experience. If I didn't know any better I would think we were on some candid camera, that's how bad it was. I have a lot of compassion for those busting butt while understaffed but this simply wasn't the case here, with one exception- the bus boy. I'm baffled at the great reviews- maybe we all just caught them on a bad attitude day. To end it- the food was mediocre, but even with excellent food, I would not come back based on the terribly negative service. read more

Can't honestly say as I got tired of standing ( 30 minutes) and we left. My husband went there this week and said the food was really good. My suggestion would be to give the people waiting a place indoors to sit. The couple of benches outside are not enough to accommodate the people waiting. Also the 25 mph wind gusts made outdoor waiting impractical for us. I guess I'll try going again, but not on the weekend read more

Service was sloth slow. Food was a complete disappointment. I thought after a few months of opening they would have worked out the kinks. While waiting in line I saw plates and plates of food sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served. We debated on leaving knowing our food would have been luke warm by the time we were served. I was right. We asked for water twice and never got any and no refills for our coffee either. Always follow your gut and the tell tail signs. read more

Very frustrating experience today. Waited a half hour for a table which is ok on a Sunday. We ordered right away but then had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Servers way to handle the wait was to ignore us. Never apologized. When I asked why so long, she said the computer system was down. What does that have to do with preparing food? You must try the Brie fig and arugula chicken sandwich. We tried both crispy and grilled - both were fantastic! Sweet potato fries and straight fries were hot and portions ample. Dill pickle chips tasted homemade. Chocolate shakes were indulgent ending. Yum! Order was ready for pick up and hand off with a friendly greeting. We picked up but tables are also avail outside. My Service was mediocre, must have been the guys first day on the job, or work force for that matter. Shakey and stuttering. Barely visited me, had to walk around and ask other people for a little service. I know it's a diner but come on, step it up. Quit standing around scratching your balls and eating your booger's, and be tentative to your customers. It's a shame because I went there once before and it was absolutely incredible. Unfortunately they hired this nitwit and I couldn't even get a proper meal the second visit. I'm not one to complain, but when I ask for one item on the menu and get the complete opposite (ordered a pancake breakfast and got French toast instead), I'm going to complain. this place has great potential. wide menu selections and lots of locally sourced ingredients. where they need improvement is service and attention to detail. whatever they clean the tables with left it sticky. the floor by the bathroom was sticky. the toilet paper dispenser was empty with tp left on the back of the toilet. service wise, we never were offered refills on coffee, water was brought in a chipped glass, plates were cleared over 10 minutes before the check was brought over. food wise my friends omelette ingredients weren't well dispersed in the omelette. my breakfast sandwich had one slice of bread twice the thickness if the other and the fillings were all in the center, and inch of edges around them. oh and the creamer pourer spilled everywhere, it doesn't have enough spout for a gentle pour. overall, i wouldn't recommend. read more

Like any diner on the weekend, especially on a Sunday in the late AM, expect a wait. A diner in the outskirts of a city? Expect a longer wait. Being able to join Yelp's waitlist and being able to make our table all the way from Roxbury was super nice. We timed it perfectly and were seated right away. The menu was filled with your classic breakfast options, but a lot of dishes had an added twist to them which was nice to see. I naturally was so overwhelmed and created my own omelet but it was fantastic (impressive list of meats and cheeses and veggies to add to it). The potatoes and locally sourced toast that came with my omelet were also pretty tasty! The service however was still a tad slow for the space/amount of seating that the restaurant has (it shouldn't take 45 minutes to fry up an omelet) so I am assuming the usual: busy and shortstaffed. This place has so much potential to be a great spot but unfortunately it's run poorly by inexperienced staff with no presence of a manager. We were initially told the wait would be 15 minutes but we weren't seated until 35 minutes later. Our food all came out wrong. I asked for no tomatoes or pickles on my burger which was covered in both when it arrived at the table. My husband was missing a side of bacon which finally came when we finished our meals and paid the bill. They also charged us for a side of onions which we did not order. Heard great things about this place. Got a parking space out front, so I went in. I ordered the Ruben which I was very disappointed in. There was a little bit of meat in a very thin sandwich, and I don't like thick sandwiches! Not worth $9.00! The French fries were greasy and felt reheated. Didn't even eat half the sandwich. Really had that at home feel. This place is a great example of how a diner should be. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and tasted great. The establishment was clean inside and out. the prices were average but the food was definitely above average. One thing that stood out besides the orange juice was the bread. Where ever they get the bread is great. Would definitely recommend and will be back next time in town. read more

The wait for food was pretty long, and with two little kids on a Monday morning at 9, it didnt make a lot of sense...the servers were nice but seemed to be running around with their heads cut off, not actually doing anything. Our food took forever, but honestly if it had been good, it would have been fine. We weren't in a rush. But it was pretty terrible. The acai bowl was warm and tasteless, and it didnt have all of the toppings listed on the menu. The eggs Benedict were terrible, and the pancakes looked like they had been through the ringer. The coffee was fine but I had to flag down a server for 1 refill and wasnt offered any more milk...overall, I get that it is a new spot, and they're probably still figuring it out, but it wasnt worth it, and I doubt we would return, especially when there are better/faster/cheaper options right in dedham. :/ read more

The food was okay - the service though was sub-par, which is why I wouldn't give them a higher rating. Maybe they were short staffed? But no one ever came by to refill my coffee, the food took a very long time, and the kitchen messed up both our orders (both of our eggs prepared incorrectly). No apology on the mistake, just a quick trip back to the kitchen and replacement plate a couple minutes later. read more

Came here middle of a holiday Monday and while busy no one was waiting longer than 2 or 3 minutes so they seat you quick. Service is alright as long as you don't come for a conversation. But food is a bit lacking. For 12 bucks you get a big burger but it's a very industrial burger. The party could have easily been made in a Sysco factory somewhere. Had breakfast there this morning and loved the place! Breakfast is my favorite meal, so I'm a bit finicky. I loved the eggs Benedict--in fact I ordered the variant with chicken sausage and avocado and it was delicious! The poached egg was a bit watery but the hollandaise sauce was so yummy that it didn't matter. Dedham has needed a good breakfast and lunch place, so we are thrilled they opened. I only wish the walls had local Dedham artists displayed. read more

Went twice during my visit to Massachusetts. Both times, exceptional food, great price, and great service. I had "The Grateful" and I challenge you to find more food at that great price. On a packed Mother's Day our party of 4 was seated within 20 minutes of our arrival by using the Grateful Dedham Dine Yelp App. I love the staff, the diversity it represents and how friendly they are. Special salute to the Mother's Day crew who took care of us: Theresa and Alex. And the food, as usual, (we are now regulars) was excellent: the best home fries, the outstanding French Toast (real maple syrup), tasty omlets and the lighter fares as well. And to the owners, Mel and John... just what Dedham Square needed... and they are supporters of Dedham Square Circle, a group of merchants whose goal is to improve the Square experience for all its patrons! Such a great addition to Dedham Square! The menu is large and creative and the food is fresh. It's probably the most veg-friendly place in Dedham - interesting salads, sandwiches, egg dishes, and they even have veg sausages. Though it's a diner, the food is fresher and more inspired than many of the more upscale restaurants nearby. Portions are a good value for the price. I've been there 4 times and the service ranged from fine to great. I hope they expand to offer dinner service. read more

I have now been here 3-4 times since opening the last time being today. The first couple of times I went I was pretty impressed with the food but disappointed by the service and the price. I chalked the service up to it being a new restaurant and figured that would improve. Today, after not having been in at least 6 weeks, I was very disappointed to see that not only has the service not gotten any better it perhaps has gotten worse. Before they were just slow but today they were slow and inattentive. Plus most disappointing of all today the food was also not good. The burgers tasted as if they were the prefrozen ones that you could get at a fast food restaurant and were unseasoned and incredibly greasy. The onion rings were also extremely greasy and the fries had no seasoning. It seems from what I saw on other reviews that they may have changed cooks recently and it definitely seems as if they need to change back. read more
