What a cute winery! I had never been to Benton Harbor so I had no idea about the winery presence. We went to Gravity to celebrate a birthday and we were all in love with the grounds. Just a gorgeous view. The wine was pretty good, I must say. You get to sample 4 wines of your choice. With the wine , they also give you 2 cheese and 4 cracker samples. This is only $12! To me, that's a good tasting. Everyone at my table bought a bottle of the Liquid Gold. I'm not huge on whites so I did not purchase a bottle. However, I did like their cider and their Cab. It was great to sit outside and enjoy conversation with the staff and patrons. You can't forget Ollie, the best greeter who's also an awesome dog...and I'm not even a dog person. I've heard from many people that his was a hot,new winery to go to in Michigan, so it was definitely on the top of my list when visiting, but the experience fell a bit flat for me. When we arrived at Gravity, the initial smell of vomit is what threw me off. Right as we walked in, the smell felt like it hit us in the face and lingered the entire time we were there. We tried to push past the smell and ordered a tasting, but the wine and cheese didn't taste great to me and I couldn't enjoy them because of the growing smell of vomit coming from inside the building. I'm hoping to go back and have another experience at Gravity sans vomit odor. I know a lot of bachelor and bachelorette parties come to this location (there was one that arrived while we were there), so I'm not sure if that was residual from an earlier party, but it wasn't handled quick enough and ruined my first experience here. read more

Winery is set on beautiful grounds. It was too cold, but they have a nice outdoor area to sit at. Large inside room with a good sized tasting bar. It was $12 for 6 tastings, which hubby and I split. We ended up purchasing 2 bottles of their Cinnamon Maple, 1 bottle of the Elevation, which was a lighter white and 1 bottle of Irresistible Red, which was a fruity red. We lean towards sweeter, less tannin and lighter wine. The staff was friendly and helpful giving us background on each wine. Definitely a fun time and would recommend it. read more

We were looking for someplace to break up a road trip and glad I came across Gravity. My mom & I stopped in for a tasting and it did not disappoint (6 for $13). They had a good mixture of both reds and whites ranging from dry to sweet. They also have a few ciders on hand to try as well. Bottle purchase prices were reasonable as well, nothing over $30. Hayden our server was amazing. Super nice and did a great job explaining everything we tried. He also was just easy and pleasant to talk to in between explanations. I also was impressed and appreciated that he took the time to rinse our tasting glasses between each pour (which you don't see often, if anything only between whites & reds) so that you can make sure that you are truly tasting the wine you're trying. Loved most of what we tried and each of us took advantage of their buy 4 bottles get $13 off deal; which equals a free tasting or bottle in some cases. We ended our visit enjoying a bottle on their patio enjoying the gorgeous views. Also, grabbed some snacks that are available to purchase (cute tees as well). We also greatly appreciated that they didn't rush us even though they were getting ready to close. All and all a great experience and would highly recommend Gravity as part of your next West MI winery tour. read more

We stopped here on our weekend wine tasting excursion, as we hadn't been here previously. Interesting and unique concept of pairing the wines with cheeses and chocolates. The service was friendly, ambiance wasn't bad, but none of the six members of our group were impressed with the wine. Every one of us thought the wines (with the exception of the Lemberger) tasted extremely watered down. The cheeses and chocolates were good - we all agreed on that - but when you spend more time commenting and complimenting the munchies at a winery, that's not a good thing. Your time and money would be better spent at one of the many other wineries or breweries in the area. read more

I enjoyed the overall experience here. We even bought a few bottles of wine and enjoyed them at home while sober. I was pretty drunk walking in here. The staff is pretty overwhelmed here. They said they were short staffed this day. I hope that's true and they aren't always this chaotic. The tasting is kinda pricey for the area. I guess because you get "pairings". I've made more visits than I can count to the wineries of Southwest Michigan and Gravity stands out! We went with another couple on our way to one of our favs - Round Barn. Their wine pairings are unique to the area - the wines are paired with either a cheese or chocolate selection (and yes, I did base some of my wine selections on the chocolate pairing!). The pours are generous and the $10 price can't be beat. My husband isn't much of a wine drinker, but he enjoyed his selections and found a couple that he would actually buy. Many of the Michigan wines tend to be sweet for my likings, but I was pleasantly surprised with Gravity and thoroughly enjoyed my selections. The owners and staff are outstandingly friendly and committed to ensuring their guests have a great time. We will definitely be back! read more

A long-time customer of Gravity Winery! I regularly go there for special events, tours, or generally just to stop by and chat and say, "hi"! The staff is amazing (Heather is always on the mark with her recommendations and comments on the wines and ciders. I absolutely love this place, by far my favorite local winery and I can't wait to go back again! I have been to so many wineries, tasted so many wines in my life that I somewhat consider myself a bit of a wine connoisseur. I am by no means a professional sommelier, but I do feel I have enough experience to speak intelligently on wines. I can say, that without a doubt, Ollies White is my FAVORITE wine in the world! How many wineries can pop up in this area?? Gravity was new to me, so when I came out to visit a friend in Bridgman, I suggested we go. On a nice fall Saturday, the place was jammed. It has a hipper vibe than some places (leaning toward younger people, though some of the imbibers out getting looped on the patio were *definitely* old enough to know better....) For $10 you get a tasting of four wines paired with cheese or chocolate. My favorites were the Pinot Noir Rose Bubbly and the Ollie's White (their biggest seller, apparently). Since it was a nice day we could sit out on the porch and relax, but if it's always this crowded what do they do when the weather's bad? After a few glasses you might feel lighter than air, but at some point you'll have to come back to earth. With all its popularity, it seems safe to say that Gravity has settled securely here. Definitely worth a stop if you're checking out the SW Michigan wine trail. read more

This was my favorite winery in the Southwest Michigan winetrail. At other wineries I kind of rush through the tastings because if the server is busy I want to make sure I gulp it up so I can get the next pour. At Gravity, there is no such issue and that's why I like the flight concept. You can just sit back and relax and drink your wines (with good pours) at your own pace. The wine server was really peppy and the other servers seemed really peppy as well. It may have been a tad over the edge but I wouldn't want the alternative grouchy server. All in all, this winery is a nice break from the norm in the wine trail and a great place to sip some wine, eat some cheese and chocolate and enjoy the view over the vineyard on the top of the Gravity Hill. read more

Visited this weekend at the recommendation of a friend. What a pretty area! Clean and welcoming inside. Super busy but we squeezed in after not too long. Cassaundra (blue hair, did I spell that right? I remember a U) was our server. She gave us nice sized samples and was attentive. We went home with a few bottles of our favorites. I was the most excited to visit this winery as it looked like it had a beautiful deck and an awesome view. And it did! The $11 flight they offer is a pretty good deal as you get to choose 4 wines that you taste first and then they also give you samples of crackers and/or cheese that are to be tasted along with the wines. I was able to try a sampling of their ciders as well. The winery itself was beautiful inside and out. I really liked the outside deck area, which was really spacious, where you can enjoy your wine samples. Ollie, the winery dog, was also hanging out greeting visitors. However, even though the winery was pretty, I was disappointed in the sweet wines they had to offer. I'm more of a sweet wine-o at heart, so my reviews are mainly about that. The sweet wines they offered were not as sweet as I expected. (The sweet wines had between 2-6.5% sugar, which I think now I need about 7% to like it.) Truly a hidden gem. First stop for our tasting tour of the area. We should have saved this one for the last because Gravity set a high bar the others failed to reach. Brooke was very knowledgeable about their selections, making good recommendations based on our tastes. Holy, baby winery in southwest Michigan! This winery was born in early May, and runs as if it has been open for years. The owners are in their mid-thirties, which is apparent in the establishment. The music is hip and the staff are hyped. They are smiling and are willing to answer any/every question tossed their way. The wine tasting is offered in a flight (six to be exact) and the whites are paired with various cheeses, while the reds are paired with different chocolates. How cool is that?!? Talk about enhancing the tasting experience! As for the wine, it is a bit young, but that doesn't mean it isn't great. I purchased a couple bottles, and will let them sit for a year or two. That way there will be more body and flavor in the tasting experience. I fell in love with the labels because of the modern take. A little bit of Spock, a little bit of Einstein...all in bright colors that popped. Nice! The seating areas outside helped add to the relaxing experience. I couldn't help taking in a deep breath and letting out a sigh. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday with fellow vino lovers! read more

Although the drive to Gravity was riddled with horror story worth issues (black cats, middle-of-nowhere-pitch-blackness, deer trying to commit suicide in front of your car, etc.) the drive was worth it. Gravity offers wine flights (not to be confused with tastings) paired with chocolates and cheeses for $10. The pours are okay, the chocolates were decent, and the cheeses were solid. The service and the wine were good too. They list the wines in order of residual sugar sweetness and you have 4 whites and 4 reds to choose from. (You pick 4 total for the flight) I wouldn't say that the wines were supremely sophisticated or anything, but I don't mind a simple stainless steel aged wine. Bottom line: If you are looking for some decent wine with a small price tag, Gravity is your place. If you want something old and oaked (and pricey), keep on driving. read more

Gravity was the last stop out of five wineries my friends and I visited on Saturday. It was completely unlike any of the others, and I appreciated it for its variety. When we arrived, we were great by a giant yellow lab. He was very friendly and well behaved. He let us pet him on our way in, and followed us to our car on the way out. This might frighten anyone uncomfortable around dogs, but I found it endearing. The building itself was large, as was the bar. We were coming in at the end of the day, so it was pretty empty, but I don't think this winery would've felt as crowded as some of the others. This particular winery gave me least number of tastes (four) for the same price as most of the other places I had visited, but they do give you gourmet cheese and crackers to cleanse your palate between wines. After a day full of wine crackers, this was a welcome change. I liked that they gave you all of your wines at once, and placed them on a numbered board along with your cheese and crackers. This made everything very portable and allowed my group to move to a high-top table. Although there were many things I liked about this place, the wine really wasn't one of them. I liked the Ollie's white OK, but the fruity wines were not at all to my tastes. As much as I liked a good sweet wine, I just couldn't choke these down. I would go again because I enjoyed the environment, I would just need to try completely different wines, and hope one of them hits the spot. read more

This was a last minute stop on a wine tour we took. The location is very picturesque with the rolling hills and river. We stepped up to the bar, and although it wasn't super busy, the server was very flustered. She kept walking away to restock glasses and clean counters, and thus never told us what the options or the costs were, so we decided to just get a glass, rather than the tastings we would've preferred. Then, we tried to pay with debit cards but she couldn't figure out how to work the card machine, and requested we all just pay cash, and since we just wanted to get outside, we obliged. The outside deck is a very beautiful set-up, and a good place to enjoy your company. We will give it another shot in the future to see if service gets stepped up a notch. read more

Went over the weekend for a girls weekend. I'm originally from Chicago. I love the view, patio, and outside dog oliver. I'm not happy that the tasting is $11 for 4 tastings and cheese. I don't like the wine. I've been there a few times to try it out and I'm just not satisfied. I feel bad for the dog as well. He looks healthy and over all healthy bit he needs a bath and TLC with his coat. I'm a huge dog lover and that poor thing needs a bath and cut. Every now and again I get the urge to drive into wine country. Call it wanderlust, call it a need for taste-hopping. There are many things wonderful about this more modern/urban winery in the area. The staff is extremely friendly and greet you at the door. As in they will open the door for you and engage in friendly conversation as you make your way to the main bar which is a decent tasting bar that gets full during busy periods. Where Gravity stands apart is that rather than a typical $5 tasting (very common in the area), you pay $10 for a flight of four wines that are paired with cheesed and/or chocolates that compliment each other and really allow you to experience the flavor and texture of each wine. Their offerings are refreshing and quite tasty, for my last visit the Sparkling Pinot Noir caught my eye and I walked out with two bottles of it. If you're traveling in the area with a group or a partner, do yourself a favor and drop in. You might find yourself listening to a band playing while sat back enjoying your wines. Either way, it's well worth a visit in to give it a try. Be sure to be on the lookout for the winery pooch, Ollie. read more

This was the last winery that my husband and I visited on our day trip to New Buffalo so we already had a little happy buzz going on but we had a wonderful time here. This was my second favorite winery after Tabor Hill and my husbands first favorite. To each their own, right? What I liked about this place compared to other places near by is that you can pick your different wine tastings and then head back outside to enjoy them on their private patio instead of doing the tasting and rushing while standing at the bar. The people at the bar were very helpful in helping us each choose 4 different wines. It also came with four little quick bites that you can enjoy your tasting with. I gotta say out of the ones that I chose, I only loved the one out of four but I am super picky so I'm happy that I found one of the wines that I liked which had a very long and complicated name so I can't remember it now, remember I was definitely a little tipsy before I even came here. What we really liked is that we got to enjoy ourselves in the patio, with the light breeze and they had live music. The band was very good I must say and they played songs that I even know, even though they were on the "country" side of music, I definitely enjoyed myself. I felt like the people here were very friendly, the winery itself had some good wines to choose from, at least one that you will like and the prices were very reasonable. Not sure why it's called gravity though but their little tray had some cute presentation. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and want to actually relax during a wine tasting. read more

I really liked Gravity. This winery seemed to have it together with no snobbishness or pretension. I greatly appreciate that after dealing with some not so nice people at another place. I will say that it can stand on its own and does not need to be compared. The wine tasting was well done. They pair the wines with cheese or chocolate (yup, they hook you right at the start) and then allow you to choose a place to sit and enjoy. How kind, how refined, how mannerly. They have some nice whites. I am not a huge fan of whites, but I liked these. I LOVED the labels. I am kicking myself for not picking up a few bottles. Thanks for the great time! read more
