During our bachelorette extravaganza weekend this was one of our stops. I had never been there before but several of the other girls in our group had been. We walked in and got spots at the bar rights away. When wine tasting there you choose four wines to try. They pour your four tastings with two samples of cheese and two samples of crackers. I really like their white wines and even bought a bottle of Ollie's White to take home. I didn't think you could beat their wine prices. If you buy two bottles you get $5 off. For the 2nd time in 8 months, I did the Michigan wine trail with girlfriends for a nice, quick weekend getaway from Chicago. Gravity is the newest of the wineries and by far our favorite. They serve you 4 full glasses with cheese/chocolate pairings with each wine for $10. You take your sampling tray and enjoy at your leisure on one of their 2 patios. We had the best time trying the wines and giggling outside overlooking the beautiful pond, woods and rolling vineyards. I loved all of their wines, especially the Shiraz. Our server did give my brother and I extra cheese but had some cross contamination issues with using the same tongs to pull out the cheese as the wheat crackers. Sad face. Anyway, I did not like any of the wines. The ambience was great, but the wines were ick... Yes, I will use a child's word. They were all very very tart and not full bodied. The price was right with generous pours. However the wines here seemed very acidic and our of the eight wines we tried (my wife and I shared flights) we only liked two enough to buy and, at that, we only bought one case worth. I really liked this spot, it was recommended to my friends at another winery by our server (wine pourer?). As many have stated, the pours are generous and paired with chocolate or cheese (since this was our 3rd winery, my friend and I were choosing more on food rather than actual wine!) If you heavy reds, this is definitely a place I would recommend. I am not a big white wine drinker, but I did enjoy the Pinot Grigio that I sampled. While I imagine it's a fun place to go at any time of the year, I highly recommend you go during warmer weather and drink your flight outside and look at the gorgeous grape vines. Would give 3.5 stars if possible. Gravity is a new winery in the Baroda area. The tasting room is comfortable with friendly staff. They were open to answering questions, but I don't like the "flight" way of serving wine. It is difficult to flag down your server to ask questions since they appear to be less staffed than other wineries. It was an interesting idea, but the traditional way of wine tasting is superior in my opinion if you want to learn about the wine. Very reasonable prices for the wine though, $10-15 for a bottle and discounts for as few as 2 bottles. Gravity is IMO one of the better upstarts in the Baroda area, all told. If you want the best wine and highly knowledgeable staff, go to tabor hill or lemon creek. If you want a nice atmosphere for decent wine and price, go to gravity or Baroda founders. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Gravity, their wine, and the experience I had there. I absolutely LOVED it and cannot wait to return! I came here in July as part of a Fruitful Vines winery tour with four friends, and we all were so impressed by Gravity. One of my girlfriends, when selecting her wines to taste, mused out loud if it was "bad" that she was picking her wines based on the chocolate she wanted to try--hahaha! I only bought one bottle, of the Pinot Gris, while I was there, and immediately regretted it when I got home. Luckily for me, my sister-in-law visited southwest Michigan in October and went to Gravity on my recommendation. My sister-in-law and her family loved Gravity as well and she was kind enough to bring me home two bottles. My favorite wine is the Pinot Gris, and that's saying something, because I generally prefer reds. I did like all of the reds that I tried, though. The staff is awesome--we loved their adorable dog. Also, full disclosure, but I hope you are lucky enough to meet Rocky, the owner of Gravity--he is seriously gorgeous. Reason enough to go back in my book...just don't tell my husband! read more

Really cool winery. I chose to visit this winery on my recent visit to the Lake Michigan Wine Trail based on the name. I figured it would have a modern feel. I was right! This winery is located on a big pond and has a nice modern interior and a beautiful exterior. The employees here were very very passionate about the wines and really made it a nice experience. With your wine tastings, you also get cheeses and crackers, which is a nice touch! Gravity is a nice break from the typical older wineries in this area! read more

Process of coming in to pay and being guided up to bar to get tasting tray was unique especially how wine was pared with crackers and cheese. Lovely spot to sit and enjoy vino with company. For my friend's bachelorette party, we decided to take a wine tour. They took a bus; however, the seats filled up too fast and my other friend and I couldn't get seats, so we decided to drive ourselves from winery to winery for the tour. My one friend wasn't doing any drinking, so I really lucked out! Saved $130 bucks and still got to partake in the fun. We stopped at 5 different locations and Gravity was our first and one of my favorites. When you pull up you get to enjoy beautiful scenery and a friendly dog named Oliver coming up to greet you (he can't go inside for the tastings though). They have really great selections of wine, but my favorite was the cider. They sell growlers and we definitely took advantage of that. They have beautiful outdoor seating. You can take the tray of 4 wine samples out there as well and enjoy the drinks while you drink in the scenery. read more

One star for the false advertisement, never tasted the wine. This winery is listed as dog friendly wine tasting in the YELP search parameters. I called 3 times during their open hours to confirm, unfortunately no one answered. I checked their website and found they said they love animals and that they are welcome to accompany their owners to the winery. So we drove the 45 minutes, excited to check out their wines. We arrived, found it to be a cute tasting room. I went in ahead of my husband to inquire where we could complete the tasting with our dog - and was told, "the dog can't be anywhere near the tasting room or patio". So I questioned, "your website said you love animals and they are welcome to accompany me". The young employee then replied, " oh, they can be out there "-- motioning with his hand to a lawn about 50 yards from the tasting room. So I asked, "how can we do a tasting accompanied with our dog then?" The one employee looked at the other employee and neither responded or offered a suggestion. How can this place call themselves dog friendly if your dog can't be with you while doing the one activity they offer? So we got back in our car with our pup and drove down the road to Haymarket Brewery and Journeymen - and spent our money at businesses that truly are dog friendly as advertised. Our group of four spent two days hitting a bunch of the local wineries and this was one of our favorites. They do a nice pairing with a sample of four to taste and offer pre-packed snack boxes of cheese, crackers and meat to munch on. We liked the flow of this place where instead of standing at the tasting counter knowing others are waiting for you to finish, you get your set of tastings and you can go sit at tables or outside and do it at your own pace. And then of course they have Ollie the dog that chases flies and walks around visiting all the guests and weasling little treats of people food. Visited this week for the first time while vacationing in SW Michigan. Beautiful area and personable staff. Tastings were $11 for four samples (larger than most others in my opinion) with accompanying cheeses and crackers. My wife and I each got a flight so we could sample eight total. Our favorites were the Traminette, Vacation Vino (a Merlot blush), and the Cab Sauv/Syrah blend. Great deals when buying multiple bottles, but reds were pricy. read more

Come on people, because they put them on a little painted black board doesn't make it awesome. That's $2.75 per taste!! We've been to dozens of Michigan wineries and never paid so much. Don't get too excited about the two tiny cubes of cheese and two crackers. Should get more for $11. We don't enjoy this type of fast talking pushy winery. We like to meet the people, taste and learn about the wines. Then buy. We tried two dry whites and the merlot and another red. None good enough to spend the money on a bottle. They call it a "flight" tasting but it's more like one sip of each wine for $13. Way too expensive for getting so little. I don't eat cheese and they used to give out chocolate, but did not this time. Much better and less expensive tasting rooms in the area. Heck, even just go to Cooper's Hawk if you are from the Chicagoland area. A "flight" there is 4 half glasses of wine for $13. A tasting at Cooper's Hawk is $7 per person for 7 tastings. Gravity is a beautiful setting to sip wine, nibble on cheese and take in some of SW Michigan's lovely scenery. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and the outdoor deck offers a view of a small lake surrounded by trees and a top to provide shade -- all in all, quite charming. For $11, you get a flight of 4 wines (fairly small pours), a couple bite-size pieces of cheese and a couple of crackers. A little pricey, BUT -- you can also buy wine by the glass (6 oz or 9 oz), which is a much better deal. They also sell high-end crackers, cheeses and a few meats to round out some nice snacking options. The wine itself is OK at best; we found the dry whites to be the most enjoyable. The comfortable atmosphere great scenery made it a top wine stop for us, and we will definitely go back. read more

Pros: The attendant at the tasting bar was very friendly (almost too much) and knowledgable, and she can talk your ear-off. It was nice to have some cheeses and chocolates to pair your wine tastings with as well. The back area has tables and a scenic view to taste wine at. The wine tasting room is much newer looking that several of the others in the area. Gravity does tastings with food pairings so it is a different approach than the other wineries. I've heard of the pairings that Gravity is known for but for the cost of $10/person you only get to sample 4 wines with a cube of cheese or chocolate.
