This is a 5 star review, it is not a 5 star restaurant. That being said, I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Great location. Relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food and range of choices. Great staff, and great attentive service. I have been here half a dozen times over the past 5 years, and always tell myself to come back more often. Went here on a warm Happy Hour and sat in the enclosed outdoor seating area w/ S.O., and pooch! Strongly suggest come for the very reasonably priced beer and "appetizers", which are more than enough for dinner! Had the Cow, Pig, Chicken sliders as well as the truffle & Parmesan fries, all at H.H pricing! ($8 each and & $6) as well as the burger ($24+), and 3 beers ($8, I think). Next time, I'll take it easy as I didn't finish the last beer and the burger was "o.k". If you take it easy and come for the HH deal, it's a great incentive to return! The wait-staff provided great service and made sure our dog was hydrated, kept the table tidy, and were very nice! I just think that the burger could've had a bit more condiment to make it more moist, although it was cooked very well. Same for the sliders, maybe automatically bring out little things of aioli/catsup/sauce instead of waiting for folks to ask for it. Our first impression was good here, but each return visit has been less satisfying. The service is always polite, but not all that attentive. Very little follow up after the food arrives. There were three mistakes/discrepancies on our orders last visit. We finally said something and they took the charge off the bill, but it's emblematic of a poorly run restaurant. There are 2 pieces that I look for in a quality dining experience: the most obvious, quality and tasty food, and the one which actually holds more weight for me, quality (including efficient, most of all) and friendly service. Gravity Tavern gets 10s in both across the board. The ambiance was very nice- I was look for a place that was outside with airflow but not on the sidewalk/ in the flow of walk-through traffic; the way they have their outdoor dining experience set up is very inviting while making me feel comfortable to eat there during this time. Now the service- friendly, regular check-ins but not overwhelming, always kind and thoughtful while being patient and professional. The food was incredible: the fried chicken and mashed potatoes were flavorful in a way I have never had before- SO tasty and the Mac n cheese and watermelon gazpacho caught me off-guard in how tasty they were! I really have to give all my kudos to all of the service staff, especially during this time, from all of the wait staff and the men who cleared our table to cooks in the kitchen:: you work hard day in and day out, and I am so grateful that I chose this restaurant as my first restaurant to try in Mill Valley; y'all made it amazing! read more

This place is very special to me. I got married during the beginning of covid 2020, and my husband and I came up to Northern Cali for our honeymoon. We found this spot and let me tell you, this place is amazing. The staff is super friendly, upbeat and very attentive to their customers. If you don't know what you want or it's your first time, they make really good suggestions. The food is superb! It's so flavorful and well made, you can't go wrong. The food is so good. The happy hour menu selection and price are outstanding. The only issue for my group was service. It was so bad. It took over 40 minutes for one of our drinks. We waited and waited for the server to come back. And when he did he told us there were reservations for our table and we needed to get going. Our table wasn't cleared. Dessert wasn't offered. Gravity Tavern, a restaurant that's not talked about enough! The atmosphere is warm, and the lighting is inviting. They have a fantastic menu that includes both comfort foods and coastal cuisines. I dined here with my friend earlier this week. We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Rob, the bartender, and the floor manager who's name I didn't catch. She was also a delight and very helpful. Rob was able to give some great recommendations on navigating the menu, and very attentive to our modifications of the menu. Yes we like all the sauces on the side.... The cocktails were delicious, unique and creative. I had the mango cocktail, and I would have it again! My wife and I hadn't been to Gravity Tavern since the pandemic, and we really wanted to go and support them as a locally owned Mill Valley restaurant. While the atmosphere is still fine with its dark wood bar feel , the food quality was awful and certainly didn't match the high prices. The burger was below average and priced $23, the Brussels sprouts and broccolini were both oily, and the service was friendly but lacked personality. When compared in value for the price with other nearby restaurants it doesn't come close. Sadly, a dining experience that didn't meet our expectations and we probably won't repeat again. read more

The GV is in a great location in Mill Valley. I would come here again. Although, we were with a group of 7 and some of us liked our food, some of us thought it had no flavor. So, it's probably hit or miss on what you order. But, the atmosphere is great and the servers are good. read more

Made reservations for this place while in area , they did not disappoint. Food and drinks were delicious, staff was friendly and attentive. Moderate prices . Wow... just wow...arrogant, unapologetic and rude. Came in to pass the time before going to Sweetwater to see a show. Watching the football game... nobody there... pretty boy bartender(?) comes in and changes the channel to the Warriors PREGAME, not even the game...I ask...politely... because I can see his attitude is going to be a problem, would you please turn the TV back to the football game... This is where it gets...fun... this young buck... remember we're the only ones there...proceeds to tell me about the Warriors is a local game, etc...I get it... we're talking about PREGAME... PREGAME...we just wanted a couple minutes to finish the football game...I asked for the manager... he says, "You can talk to whoever you want..." Very nice...no manager on site...but another employee came over to speak to me... very nice...bartender who helped us before pretty boy... also very nice...apologized up one side and down the other... damage done. TERRIBLE SERVICE. Called to Place a take out order and got bounced around for 10 minutes. The server who took the order couldn't even tell me what came with the protein I was ordering (even though all she had to do was read the menu which I couldn't because I was driving). The Order was suppose to be ready between 5:25-5:35. At 6:05pm the order was not ready for pick up and clearly hadn't even been made. The host (who i also guessed was also the shift manager) told me "5 more minutes". Even after politely explaining that order was to be ready 30 minutes ago, and I didn't have time to spare because I had to pick kids up no later than 6:15pm. His response was flippant just said "I told you 5 minutes... the kitchen is doing it " then walked away. Looking back, I should have just done the same. Giving a customer attitude when it's the restaurants fault who dropped the ball is totally out of line. Not to mention I couldn't get his attention again no matter how hard I tried. Flagging down other staff I was told yet again another erroneous time. In the end it was order over 50 minutes late, and i consequently got chewed out from the aftercare teacher and had to pay a late fine for picking up on he kids late. Three of us came for dinner on a weekday evening. We ate indoors because the outdoor area was packed, while the indoor area was on the quiet side. The vibe that you get immediately from this establishment is that you'll be comfortable and well taken care of. You'll be served food that's A-OK, and you'll have a good time. That's basically how things played out. Two of us had glasses of wine, choosing from the lower-priced offerings in the red and white departments. Wines start at around $13/glass and go up in price if you want something fancy. One thing to say is that the starter wines are actually quite good and arguably worth their price. The quality/price ratio is probably highest if you aim low. I had a Kölsch from a San Francisco brewery that I'd never heard of. It was rather good, but it didn't excite me. Berkeley has better beers. We split a Caesar salad and ordered a coq au vin, a fried chicken and a risotto. All were fine, and the risotto was especially good. The fried chicken @$23 seemed like the best value. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars but decided to up my rating because we saw a lone coyote running along the road as we left. I wouldn't at all mind returning. If I'm feeling flush, maybe I'll order a steak and Cabernet next time. read more

First of all, any restaurant that serves Diet Coke in the small glass bottles associated with Mexican Coke, is immediately dropped to a one-star. It's just plain greed. You're charged $4 and immediately put on notice that refills are going to cost you another $4. If I want that magical cane sugar experience of Mexican Coke, then I'm on board. But it's just the same old Diet Coke. Both my sister and I ordered the house cheeseburger. Great list of ingredients that should have justified the $21 purchase price. But looking at the photos and reading the reviews that actually addressed the food (instead of one offs about the price or service), you'll get an accurate idea of how good this place is. The food was extremely tasty and the cocktails were worth calling home about. Honestly thinking about bringing my parents here the next time they're in town. My husband and I came for brunch, I got the steak and eggs and an Irish coffee. The brunch came with delicious cinnamon popovers (not one for sweets but these were delicious). They did a great job revamping this space with new furniture, lighting and decor. I came here to try their happy hour. The drinks are delicious. They curate their own shrubs which are delicious and they sell them by the bottle! If you have never tried a shrub before, I would definately try it here. A shrub is different flavors with vinegar. They sell flavors like ginger, rose, lavendar peach etc. They also use their shrubs in their drinks they serve at the bar. I also gave their happy hour food a shot. I felt their sliders were way too expensive for what was given... it was a mini slider for 5bucks, they could have atleast given 2. Their avocado toast was well balanced with the lemon zest and was yummy. The lamb lollipops were a bit strong and I wish there was more of the garlic yogurt to cut through the game flavor. Overall, I would check their happy hour out again for the drinks and their toast. I definately will be back for more shrubs!! read more

I tried the Honey Habanero chicken wings and it was amazinggg I love wings and if you're a wing love definitely try this. If you want another recommendation you should try the Maine lobster roll this one was amazing as well it comes with tater tots which I havnt had since I was younger but it was delicious. Went at 830 on a Friday night. Place was dead. That should have been our first clue. Two people at the bar and 4 small tables. Bartender didn't know how much drinks cost. Took forever to get food despite being dead. Ordered corn crab chowder that was canned diced green chilies chowder with some corn dropped in. Not good. We ordered the "cigars" Moroccan spiced egg rolls. Just OK. Ordered a popover, their specialty. Thing weighed like a pool ball. Obviously not fresh or initially prepared properly. Ordered ahi tacos fine but the outdated taro chip shell ruined the taste. Wife got the salmon bowl. Salmon was not seasoned but cooked well. Everything else in the bowl scooped right out of the fridge including cold rice. Told us that's how it's supposed to be. Very charming restaurant in a charming town to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend. Food was good and drinks were fabulous and the bartenders and servers were very friendly and helpful, I deducted a star because of all the problems that had occurred, ok we both ordered salads with our meals, My boyfriend salad came out and mine never made it to the table, our entrees arrived And my side had French fries That I did not order, I had ordered the side salad which never came, I asked the bartender and she said let me take care of it, so Within a few minutes I had a real nice salad delivered to me. So one of the bartenders had offered to gift us two espresso martinis for her mistake and they were delicious. The only other snafu is when the bill came, I was charged for a big salad that I did not order, I only ordered the side salad that came with my meal, So they had taken that salad off the bill but then they had charged us for the two free espresso martinis, so they had to adjust the bill again and takeoff the salad and the Martinis, but after all of the little problems, I would definitely go back there again and give them another chance, they were pretty hospitable read more

Long overdue review! My first thought walking into Gravity was how quaint and warm the ambiance was. I was lucky enough to be there on a Sunday just in time for their prime rib special. I couldn't believe my eyes.. 3 courses for $35, all this food?!! It's unheard of for this area let alone San Francisco where I live which is just a 15 minute drive. Sitting at the bar was great too! Cocktails recommended by the bartender were solid but I'm a sucker for the classics and the Gravity Old Fashioned exceeds satisfaction. Service from all staff was very friendly yet professional and attentive. Gravity has easily become one of my favorite places to dine in Mill valley. A true hidden gem! read more

We've been wanting to try this out and finally had a chance the other night! We didn't have dinner but had cocktails and bunch of small plates so we could try more things. The atmosphere is great! It's very pub-like, but in a more refined way. We saw a lot of kids there, which was surprising but then it's Mill Valley, so I guess we shouldn't have been surprised. They must have a kids menu because we saw what looked like yummy mac and cheese and sliders coming out! We tried the tuna tartare, the fried shrimp, the lamb skewers, and the tater tots. The tuna would have been good if it hadn't had a half inch layer of rancid shallots covering it, that completely overwhelmed the tuna. All you could taste was onion. Horrible. I scraped it off, but it had permeated the tuna and was gross. The shrimp were delicious- very delicately battered and lightly fried. The skewers were pretty good, the tater tots were unremarkable. Next time I'd like to try some of the entrees for sure. We definitely want to come back. It's a nice place to bring some friends and have a catch up and a few drinks. read more

Disappointed by Gravity tonight. Ordered Little Gem salads via Caviar and at pick it up the manager said they'd need to charge a separate check for adding salmon, $20 extra per salad. I told them that's fine, but then looked in the box and noticed it was a tiny piece. When I showed the manager he seemed to agree, but instead of doing anything about it, he just told me that's the entree portion and handed me the bill, offering nothing but a shrug. I'm a big fan of the tuna poke with mayonnaise, the ahi tacos with mayonnaise, the Maine lobster roll with mayonnaise, the gravity burger with mayonnaise, the deviled eggs with mayonnaise, etc. The ambiance is very nice and the food is fresh. When you see a menu item that includes a "sauce" or "aioli" you can be sure to discover a new way of enjoying mayonnaise. Often times I feel very heavy after leaving. I am such a big fan of mayonnaise however, it's worth it every time. No other restaurant understands how to use this much mayonnaise with such flourish! read more

Loved the short ribs, mashed potatoes and carrots last night plus the oysters were divine. My new go to for business meetings and dates.
