The food was so great! We had an impossible burger which I can be picky about usually but it had amazing flavors! Also the chicken sandwhich according to my mom is the BEST SHES EVER HAD. It was so crispy. The house garlic fries were OK just tasted like regular fries, couldn't really taste the garlic. The ambience is very sweet/cute but it can get quite loud if you're next to a rowdy table. We had a good time, but the table next to us was so loud we couldn't hear eachother talk! I think that it's a good place to go out for drinks and good food, but I would go elsewhere for more intimate dinners! read more

We thought everything was good, but the drinks were only okay. We would have given the first experience a 4.5. We went recently again and ordered hamburgers. I ordered a medium and it was definitely a medium rare. My burger was super greasy, which okay I get. It's a burger. But it was still greasier than your average burger. Went there for brunch yesterday with friends. Checked out the menu before and knew I wanted. Upon being seated we were informed they didn't have SYRUP. Was so confused as to why someone couldn't go across the street to Ralphs and get some for the brunch crowd. Looked over at another table about 20 min mater and they had syrup. Asked about the syrup...one guy had gone to Ralph and showed us the bottle. Food was good but not ok when you can't order quite a few meals. read more

We got fries, mac and cheese, fried chicken sandwich, salmon app, steak, cauliflower app, and tuna burger. The fries were the thicker kind. I'm not a fan of those but, considering, it was good. And their ranch dip was good; not runny, thank goodness! The cauliflower app was tasty. I'm also not a fan of cauliflower but I wouldn't mind eating that again. It wasn't too crispy (burnt, haha) like some other places I've been to. The salmon app was "eh." Don't order it. The flavors don't really go with one another. Even though the presentation was nice. The steak and chicken sandwich was okay. For both, we've had better elsewhere. The tuna burger was good and the sauce was good; but the cut is too thick and small for the size of the bun. It doesn't make sense. The drinks were okay. The service was touch and go. When somebody did help us, they were friendly and nice; but that's when we got their attn or when my friend got up to get help. Overall, would I go back... not sure. Third time's a charm, or three strikes you're out. This is my third time visiting Gray Tavern over nearly a year since this place opened. It's conveniently right around the corner from me in Studio City. I could easily be a regular and I was looking forward to a neighborhood spot for good food and drinks. Just to set the tone of what to expect here, my first trip was for brunch and their Bloody Mary was apparently 'green' because they used tomatillos at that time. It was actually just gross tasting especially with the paper straw gathering pulp. Very LA to make a green Bloody Mary. I liked the hash that was on the menu then. But if anything is consistent about this place, it is that the menu changes all the time so if you find something you like (like the kale artichoke dip, seriously that was so good but not there anymore!) you might count on it being gone in a few months. I was actually informed tonight that there have been 'over a handful' of different chefs so far. Second time I went, a buddy ordered the fish tacos. They literally served a whole damn fish with face, fins, bones and all on the plate that was mean to 'serve yourself' with some knife spatula - this was just overall confusing and parts of the fish tasted way too strong. There was some strange seaweed infused tortilla at this time. We kind of just laughed it off again being very "LA" - here's a fish, and part of a taco..it's deconstructed? Add side of aioli... All 3 times I went, the bartenders use a jigger to pour a simple mixed drink. I don't mind that at the airport, but it's almost awkward at a bar when you ask for a makers soda and they make sure to not go over the line. This evening when I arrived, a seemingly new employee was having a problem counting the cash in front of the two customers that were sitting at the bar, and then it was apparent that he had a problem with inventory reporting this week as well. I witnessed multiple cocktails that had to be replaced with alternatives due to lack of proper mixers and liqueurs and heard it was the 'new guys' fault' - The staff was verbally acknowledging these shortcomings of their team members which I smiled and nodded but truly felt like this was something that made me feel awkward as I could sense the tension. It only continued when another customer came in asking about the advertised 'Taco Tuesday' - for at least a few minutes no one had any clue what the special was, because the chef didn't tell them and it wasn't in the system. I ordered Brussels sprouts which were actually very good, and then paid $14 for 3 bacon wrapped shrimp...I think 3 shrimp for fourteen bucks with some bacon is pricey. It was 'maple bacon' which explained my very sticky fingers but didn't explain why they didn't give me a knife, just a fork. Okay, so I ordered a Makers Mark and club soda, then realized on the same shelf there was Knob Creek. I changed my mind and asked for a Knob Creek and soda instead. I was not 'advised' that the price point was twice as much until I received my tab and realized my drink was $22 for a jigger pour. I had two of these, so before tax and tip I'd run a tap for $44 for two little drinks. I brought this up, and was informed that they only have one type of knob creek, maybe in the future they'll have the 'regular' kind. But I didn't order any special reserve and it was right next to the Makers Mark. Anyway I didn't cause a fit even though I was basically the only person there and I could tell the bartender was stressed - actually was a nice guy but overall I just walked out feeling kind of meh about the whole thing. Overall the service has been okay, the food has been extremely inconsistent, the decor is nice enough, and the drinks are pricey. I've been wanting to try Gray Tavern for a long time and finally went last night for my birthday dinner, I've been several times to it's sister property next door, Mantee , which is excellent So we were met by Daniel, with a big smile and seated promptly, we ordered couple of drinks and decided to get the salmon caviar crostini and the Greek keuftedes, we also ordered Hummus from Mantee Oh my , the salmon Crostini was so fresh , melts in your mouth and the keuftedes were super delicious, the texture, the sauce with yogurt was heavenly, of course Hummus was delicious For the main course we both ordered the Lemon Chicken which was superb, tender tasty chicken breast , on top of delicious rainbow fingerling potatoes , topped with caper lemon sauce The portion is huge, For dessert we got the house made churros with ice cream The whole experience was top notch, Daniel was super nice, food was beyond delicious and ambience was great We definitely will recommend and be back again and again read more

He accommodated my toddler and brought out little sides especially for her on the house which I appreciated so much. He also made one of the best bloody Maria's I have had. ​The ambiance was great! The reason why I'm giving three stars is because of the customer service/menu. My sister has been here a few times and I have been wanting to try this place based on her experience, their yelp reviews, photos, and menu. When we get there we are seated right away and upon checking the menu we notice that the only thing available are starters and burgers. When asking the waiter if they have their original menu items (Lemon chicken in particular) he says unfortunately their chef left and the only thing available is what's on their current menu. My sister and I looked at each other disappointed because we came to this place for one thing. When my sister and I began to ask each other if we should stay or leave since we didn't like any of the choices on the menu, the waiter kinda rudely said "Sorry ladies we are in the middle of a pandemic, and all restaurant are struggling right now. Our chef also left". Uhm yes sir, I am fully aware we are in the pandemic and the restaurant business has taken a hit, however we did not come to this place for a burger. We were in no way trying to be rude but I felt very uncomfortable for him stating the obvious as if we were trying to be rude for them not having what we came for. We felt like we had to order something so we got the grilled caesar salad and fried cauliflower (both were OK). Went here for my birthday and absolutely devoured everything on the tapas menu with my friends. The mimosas were awesome, food was delicious and service was on point! The pancetta and brie stuffed dates were so good we had to order more! All in all, we spent several hours eating and drinking, the chef came out to explain some of the dishes and give some recommendations, and we wobbled away feeling like kings! Food and service were both really good but overall the place was a bit underwhelming. Smaller than expected and pretty dead on a Thursday night- perhaps due to Covid- who knows. Sliders, mac & cheese, and fries were all great. Server super nice guy, the place modern and clean but just kind of unexciting- which, if you are in the mood for minimal disturbances and taking time out to enjoy a slower pace, it's actually perfect. Next door, in contrast, was jumping! It is an odd arrangement outside with their patio seating right next to the neighboring restaurant's - presumably they have the same owner - where you have full view of customers at both places and can even go from one patio to the next by taking a single step. THAT place seemed very happening - no idea why. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, but if you happen to be in the area this would be a harmless, dare I say, fairly enjoyable and relaxing dining experience. Get the sliders!! read more

The server/bartender totally ignored his guests tables, I had to get up from our table several times and go to the bar to get his attention for service, not one time did he come over to check on us. The food was average and that's a shame because the menu and Yelp photos look amazing. We are new to the neighborhood and we really looked forward to eating here. I'm sure the food is amazing as their Yelp Reviews are really strong, just a bad experience for us. The Management needs to step up, how do you expect good customer service if you only have 1 server and 1 Bar Tender serving the whole restaurant durning Brunch Hours? My friends and I visited on a Saturday night before going to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights and had the best experience. We made reservations ahead of time, but found that the restaurant ample seating despite being a smaller building. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a few of their signature cocktails, which I would highly recommend, a few draft beers, a large serving of their delicious nachos, and several entrees, including the vegan burger and the popcorn shrimp, all of which we enjoyed thoroughly. In addition to the food being top quality, our server was also attentive and made great suggestions! I can't wait to come back and visit this place! The only downside was having to park across the street, but we crossed at a close crosswalk and had no problems, although you may be able to find a closer spot on the street somewhere. read more

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. I went at a great time because it wasn't too busy and we were able to sit outside. My server was informative and attentive. I ordered the Brunch Burger and a Latte. I know they don't go together but I was craving coffee. Nevertheless, both were great! The food was well seasoned and tasted great. Felt like she forgot About our food because the another person that works there had to ask what we were waiting for and went to get it himself. I got the phat kid fries and my friend got the popcorn chicken. The chicken was good, not breaded which is usually what I think of when I think of popcorn chicken. It had a nice kick.
