Visited about a week ago and after being quite impressed with the complimentary samples with butter got Honey Whole Wheat and Dakota for making tuna sandwiches at home they were a big hit around the house to say the least! People here are very nice. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of their product. The bread is just not to my liking. I like my breads with a significant crust. The bread here has a thin soft crust and they're all packaged in plastic bags which I personally don't like, but probably isn't a huge deal to most people. They also serve sandwiches for breakfast and lunch but they take a while to make and are very overpriced in my opinion. I got a bacon grilled cheese and it was $12. Breakfast sandwiches are about $6 but they're very tiny, about the size of a biscuit sandwich. I've gotten the pumpkin bread and the cinnamon bread and they both taste indistinguishable to me from the mass produced versions you could get at a local supermarket. Maybe it's just me since this place seems to get great reviews otherwise, but I just don't think the food here is good and I certainly don't think they're worth the price being charged. I got sick off of the Great Harvest Bread Co. And it was my fault. You see, I was on a quest for a particular loaf of bread to make the perfect sandwich and my friend and I started our search in Redmond. We stopped at several bakeries and came up empty handed as we traveled south toward Renton. Along the way my friend insisted we stop at the Great Harvest Bread Co being reminded of a great experience in Anchorage. I will admit I was surprised with the location as it once was a spot I frequented when TCBY and a particular steak restaurant was in the area - why hadn't I noticed this bakery? Once inside I was inundated with the smell of fresh baked bread and realized I was in carb heaven. We were promptly greeted and finding our perfect sandwich bread was a snap. Leaving with only sandwich bread proved challenging. The lady who assisted us offered free samples and I'm confident she would have liked to have given us a sample of everything they had samples of. She cut off large chunks which were rather delicious. Now I have to be mindful because I can't digest egg whites and bread is one of those foods that have a 50 / 50 chance of having said ingredient. They had a cinnamon chip bread that I found was without egg whites which surprised me because most cinnamon breads do. I wasn't wise and bought a whole loaf. It was so good I ate the whole loaf in two days thus getting sick. It was so worth it. I loved every bite. read more

Ah this place. I've lived in Bellevue/Issaquah for almost my entire life (except for the 6 years in Queen Anne). This place has been here the entire time. I've only had their sandwiches a handful of times and they are fine, but there is nothing like their cinnamon bread or their apple crunch. Oh you don't know the amazingness of a slice of one of those babies toasted, hot and buttered. It is better than any dessert you can imagine, and it's not so sweet that you can't pop it in for breakfast. This bakery is part of chain (local though). The bread is excellent. The honey wheat, old fashioned white, and Dakota breads are all excellent, especially as toast, or sandwiches. As sandwich bread they're best lightly toasted. The variety of savory sourdough breads are also excellent. The sweet varieties of bread are also excellent especially apple cinnamon bread, and cinnamon chip bread; and also the seasonal special breads. The variety of cookies, brownies, bar cookies, and cinnamon rolls are excellent; and, worth attention. The sandwiches are also very good, not the world's greatest; but, very good for what they are. Another excellent thing about Great Harvest is the fact that they provide delicious bread samples. This store opens at 6:30 AM but only two fresh baked items for sale at 7:15 AM. Scones were another 45 minutes so not until 8 AM. Why do you open at 6:30 AM if there is NOTHING fresh baked for sale other than two muffins? This is the third time so it appears to be the normal. GREAT option for lunch in Factoria. I order online so I can skip the lunch rush wait between 12 and 1. After I order from my desk at work, I can leave immediately and my sandwich is ready less than 10 minutes later when I arrive at the store. I've been pretty satisfied with many trips here but a recent breakfast stop is making me question their ability to deliver. I ordered a breakfast sammie (always get the Dakota bread!) and noticed something was off when they didn't offer a free sample. Free samples are like gold. A gem in an otherwise muddy existence. But ok. I can roll. I sat down and patiently waited... Sammy in hand, albeit after a longer delay that usual, I returned to my desk. Little did I know disappointment was waiting for me there. Crispy on the outside. COLD on the inside. The cheese hadn't even started to melt! It was so disappointing. Have been here twice and was met with a friendly greeting both times! Aside from the adorable bread animals at the front counter, they also offered samples of various baked goods--today's were berry scone and salted caramel brownie. So tasty! They also have a good selection of other baked goods including scones, muffins, cookies, and of course loaves of bread. You can watch them making the bread right in front of you which is pretty cool. On my first visit I tried the turkey jack sandwich which was panini pressed just the way I like it. I remember there being a nice aioli on it as well. This time around we came for the breakfast sandwiches, which were about the same price & size as Starbucks, but with homemade bread instead. We both got ours on white bread which was delicious--I think next time I'd try it on the Dakota bread to see if that is just as good! It's also conveniently located very close to 90, and will likely be a regular stop of ours on our way into Seattle! read more

It's Sunday afternoon and we came here for sandwiches. Walked in at 2:20. We waited for the teenagers to end their conversation about prom and high school gossip until we were served. By that time we went to order sandwiches and heard someone from the back yell that it's 2:30 now and they aren't making any more sandwiches. It's a hit or miss for me. The breads can be pretty good (I like their cinnamon bread), but their meals are pretty meh. I ordered their cheddar cauliflower soup once...and it tasted like sweaty feet. At least it came with a side of fresh baby carrots to chase down the taste. read more

The staff are nice, the bread is not good, and the sandwiches are at best mediocre - they're edible and that's about it. I probably would not have bothered to review this place to comment on the underwhelming food, but one of the items I bought was a challah loaf that was nothing of the sort. I keep coming here as a healthy lunch alternative but each time my sandwich or salad leaves me desiring/wishing for more or something different. Note that the review is just for their lunch. The sandwiches are dry and don't have enough filling as I would want. The salads are really nothing special that you would make yourself at home with the series of ingredients mentioned and then dressing on the side. One thing I will say though is that the bread is fantastic! They give free samples so come in to try some if you don't believe me. For this reason, it makes it more disappointing that the sandwiches aren't great. read more

I LOVE Great Harvest! I don't stop in often, but when I do, it's always in the morning for one of their delicious breakfast sammies! The #2: egg, ham, cheese on their honey whole wheat bread with added bacon is my personal favorite. It can take a few minutes for them to make these awesome sammies, which usually gives me just enough time to pop over to Starbucks for a cup of coffee while I wait. The great thing about this place is that while you're waiting, and assuming it isn't super busy, they offer you free samples of their tasty breads! From the fresh-baked breads to the cookies and pastries to the sandwiches and salads, this place delivers! (Well, not literally, you gotta go pick it up.) I've have breakfast sammies (bacon, egg, and cheese on white bread) and they've been warm and hearty, keeping me full for HOURS. I've had lunch (turkey sammies, egg salad sammies, soups, salads, etc.) and all have been tasty. The soups for me can sometimes be a little lackluster (light on flavor, thin in consistency for creamy ones) and the salads occasionally have some rusty lettuce, but what they lack in mealtime finesse they make up for in the bakery. Cookies, cinnamon rolls, and breads have been INCREDIBLE. It's dangerous they're so close because the cravings are for real. I especially love the cinnamon chip bread and the butterscotch oatmeal cookie (I think it is) are TO DIE FOR. It can get a little hectic in here during peak times, but come outside of the lunch hour and you'll be able to peruse without a crowd (and snag those free samples). If you're in a crunch, you can always order ahead online and go pick it up; that makes for a more efficient trip without the temptation of tacking a baked good onto your order. But sometimes you just gotta treat yo'self! read more

New owners must be stingy or the counter woman is lazy. I asked to sample a new bread and was refused. I've been going to Great Harvest for over 40 years and have never had this happen. There was a new bread and I was debating buying it, so asked if I could try it first. I was refused and told they have too much out on sample already. Samples have always been a core principle for the Great Harvest franchise. I spent $40 and ordered a bunch of things, but they couldn't let me sample a new bread. Disappointing and rude. Came here for lunch today .... first time for me. I found it a little confusing. The door walks in to the end of the ordering line... Okaaay.... Not that it is a line unless you know how to navigate it. The reader board, that I thought would have a list of lunch items, has a list of breads... That makes sense.... But how do I order lunch...? At the far right of the boards is the directions. You find the bucket with the clip boards in it... yellow paper is a cold sandwich and pink paper is hot one. (I should have gotten cold, more on that later). You then write your name at the top, then circle or check mark what you want. Also you decide here if you want a combo with cookie, fruit or soup. You hand it to the cashier who rings you up and then takes it to the sandwich makers. I opted for the hot turkey sandwich as 'just the sandwich'... and a turtle brownie. I paid and then wandered the front area looking at the assortment of syrups, mixes and honey. There is a sample board at the end of the counter and they will cut something for you to sample. Blackberry cream cheese what? Exactly. I will go back just for this. I also tried the Rosemary and Olive Oil Sourdough. I added a chunk of butter and it was delish. At this point there were about 12 people in the area, either waiting to order or waiting to pick or waiting for samples. I found the crowd a little 'uppity'. That isn't GHB's fault, but we are only in Factoria peoples. I tried to get around someone, twice and they just stood there.The lady behind me could not find her sandwich order and had to ask if they were making it. One working was really friendly, the rest seemed to have airs. There is a another door that is near the front of the line, but it wouldn't be ergonomically correct to use that as it is the front of the line. My sandwich was warm and wrapped in foil and paper. It had Turkey, Havarti, Red onion, dijon, mayo and spinach on a cornmeal kind of bread. I did not really taste the mayo or the dijon and I am not sure if it was Havarti..... tasted more like Swiss. But it was good. A solid GOOD. It was toasted like a panini. I think I would have preferred it cold, or on a different bread. Add tomato too. (Maybe next time... you know... when I go back for more blackberry cream cheese!).... The Turtle Brownie was a little dry. I was hoping for moist-er and didn't get it. Alas I have reached my goal. Great Harvest marked my final stop on my 1 bakery per week for a year objective. I will certainly continue to try new bakeries and revisit the good ones that I have visited, but it has certainly been an arduous feat. Like a small scale Super Size Me project. Having tried the Ballard location of Great Harvest previously, I had an idea of the offerings. But don't expect to see every single item that you find at one store to be at another location. That is because the stores are franchises, so you should expect to see a slightly different menu. The store is right off I-90 at Factoria Village (formerly Loehmann's Plaza). It is right slab in the middle of Bartell Drugs and QFC. A bit of a smallish store, but the baked goods selection is sizable. As the moniker indicates, the bread assortment is good here. A lot of varieties to choose from. Since it is the holidays, seasonal breads like panettone and stollen brot are offered here in addition to the regular assortment. You can find a list of bread offerings on the website at http://www.greatharvestbellevue.com. That way you can figure what day to go if you are looking for a specific type of bread that they don't make on a daily basis. Picked up three items. A loaf of Santa Fe corn bread ($5.35), a piece of coffeecake ($2.25) and a raisin/nut cinnamon roll ($2.95). The corn bread is lovely. It is a Southwestern take on this classic so it has cheddar and jalapenos in it. And to quote Chris Rock, there ain't nothing wrong with corn bread. Simply delicioso. As for the sweets, they were just as good as the bread. The coffeecake is made with wheat, so it kind of feels like a healthy version of an indulgent treat. As for the cinnamon roll, this definitely was more of what I had expected to get at my previous bakery stop at Cinnamon Works. The cinnamon rolls here are ginormous. Plus they have raisins and pecans on top. There are plain ones here too if you like a standard version. The cinnamon drizzle was a little excessive, but it drove home that this pastry through and through is made of cinnamon. Something that was missing from the version I had last weekend. Although it is part of a chain, I like Great Harvest because their products are consistently great tasting. If you love bread, Great Harvest is the place to go. read more

Unless you get the small dinky ones, which are cute too, I suggest sticking to the big ones! You will not get enough of these sweet, delicious breads. They are so moist and fresh. Compared to other Great Harvests, this one carries the same varieties of tasty breads and pastries etc., but half the time it's staffed by high school kids who think they are too cool to be nice. (The other half it's fine, I guess) Kinda also bummed about their sample rationing. Samples used to seem like real samples - to try a slice of one of their interesting or new breads, but now it almost feels like a pat on the head for just buying something there. I've only ever gotten the avocado/hummus sandwich (with Swiss, tomato, lettuce on honey whole wheat) and have yet to try the other sandwiches...But it's just so good! Really yummy sandwiches and sweets. My favorite sweet treat is the Chocolate Almond bread (so soft and flavorful)! A whole sandwich ends up being a little more than $8 (including tax), and you can sample a big piece of bread with your purchase. You can build your own sandwich, which is great. I just wish they would sell smaller portions of the breads instead of whole loaves. As someone who lives alone, it doesn't make sense to buy a whole loaf, so it'd be great if they just sold a few slices. read more

Fast and friendly service during lunch rush this afternoon (Friday). I was immediately greeted and shown how to request a sandwich, shown specials and offered a sample. Everyone working was smiling, cheerful and well groomed. Maybe the staff has changed since the previous yelpers poor experiences? I was relieved to see the store was clean and didn't hesitate to order the hummus, avocado, swiss, cucumber, red onion sandwich on honey wheat. This is the perfect light sandwich that doesn't leave you feeling over stuffed. The bread was soft, slightly sweet and heavenly good. I also ordered the walnut chocolate chip cookie which I haven't yet devoured. It feels soft so I'm sure it'll be good. Sometimes you need the fatty bacon, gooey cheddar & sweetness from honey wheat bread to give you that little bit of comfort. I looove food and I also love eating healthy. It's great knowing every morning they fresh mill premium whole wheat (helps the bread maintain its protein, fiber and vitamins)! Their bakery smells delicious and is packed with fun treats made with real ingredients. You can also purchase organic honey, nut butters and granola which is a nice bonus! Great Harvest has been a favorite of mine for years now and basically I could live off their breakfast sandwiches. Some tips for ya, come before 11am (when they stop serving brekkie), the sandwich usually takes a little over 5 mins to make so go next door to Starbs and get yourself a hot coffee. Oh.my.god. this place is Ah.Maze.Zing.. I have walked by this place so many times but have never once, was motivated to enter, until now. My coworker brought the cream cheese and raspberry bread from here and everyone loved it. So, once I found out where it was, I decided to check it out. I love that they have a display filled with samples that you can try. First, I tried the pumpkin swirl, which was heavenly. It was moist, flavorful and just delicious. I then tried their chocolate almond bar and that was off the hooks. It was super moist, more like bread, and so full of chocolate and almond! After trying those, I decided to buy the pumpkin chocolate chip mini bread and thought I can eat a small piece and save it for later...NOPE! After the first bite, I was literally devouring it while doing my grocery shopping next door. The bread was super soft and moist and you can definitely taste the pumpkin and chocolate chip but it's not overpowering. It was so good that I went back not once, but twice after to try the other samples that they have...the cashier probably thought I was some weird girl coming in so many times looking for food lol but it was worth it :) read more

Wow they are just yumm. I tasted most of their bread and have had sandwiches too everything was fresh, warm and delicious. When ever you cross the place the divine bake smell just draws you in. The Dakota bread is famous I believe. I have mostly had veg sandwich anD it's quite heavy with loaded veggies. I have taken home the apple crunch , blueberry cheese , cinnamon swirl loaf and it's done in no time. Also they give you samples all the time and you can ask for more , that was the reason I ended up tasting many aNd got loaves home too. I've heard a lot about Great Harvest breads in general online but never had the chance to try it until we moved to Washington. I've been to this location a few times already and every time we step through the door, someone is already greeting you with a smile and generous samples of bread. They cut you the biggest slice and of course I'm more than overjoyed! My husband and I are particularly fond of their delicious breakfast sandwiches and weekend only cinnamon buns. When we were in the Factoria area, I made sure to stop at this location and buy some of their Dakota Crunch bread. Expensive but worth every penny.
