Sesame Chicken 7/10 - not too seasoned - comes with a taste dip - Pairs great with ramen Pork Boa Bun 8/10 - good fluffy bun - Great quality and quantity of meat Yakitori Shrimp Skewer 6/10 - small seasoned shrimp with a lot of meat - Pretty good but not worth it Red Tiger Ramen 9/10 - Level 4 spicy is really hot! They use buldak sauce mixed with spices, be warned! - Great flavor - Skinny noodles so not your traditional ramen noodles - Great toppings The ramen here is pretty solid. I've been here two times and have not been disappointed. Their ramens are full of flavor and a variety of toppings. They are big bowls so the ramen can feed two. Their appetizers are pretty good as well, my favorite was the bun. You can definitely skip on the shrimp bc the price isn't worth it for one shrimp but still good. The customer service is great. Their workers are very attentive. I really love spicy food but this ramen was one of the most spiciest items I've ever eaten. The waiter noticed my suffering and offered me free broth to put my noodles in. Even with that the noodles were still spicy but very delicious. They also provide complimentary edamame when you sit down. This location is very laid back making it a great spot to catch up with friends or a casual date. The inside decoration is very cute as well.
I think the tricky thing about trying out so many Ramen places is that I just automatically rank them and if you don't fall high on my long opinion list, I can't give you that deng extra star. But honestly, please don't let that stop you from trying this place because it's solid and depending on your own personal preference you might like it more than me. Support Long Beach business, for sure. I had the chicken and it was good, fairly ok. The service is standard--friendly and helpful. The ambience is casual, pleasant. Parking can be tight, but at least they have it.
Great Tiger consistently has a deal on Groupon where you can get a dining coupon at a discounted price. Combine that with their lunch specials and large portions and you are in for a real bang-for-your-buck meal. They start you off with some edamame, which is great with the hot sauce they put on the table. We got a pork bao bun to share to start, which was pillowy and flavorful. Chicken fried rice, Karaage, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Black Tiger Ramen are all solid. You'll see many of the reviews talk about the fried rice, which has great texture, lots of smoky chicken, and a great charred dark soy flavor.
Came on a Wednesday around 11:30am they had just open. Place plenty of booth, tables, and bar seating. Inside themed. Service quick and friendly. I got the lunch combo one tonkotsu ramen and a side of rice with braised pork belly. Ramen was creamy noodles not too thick. The rice bowl was great. Both came out hot. They offer different spice levels. For price to portions and taste worth it.
I had a chance to try Great Tiger Ramen because I saw they were offering a Groupon that allowed us to try this place at almost half off. I got the Black Tiger Ramen with thick noodles and my partner got the Miso Tonkatsu ramen. Portions were hearty, and service was good and expedient, but the price point is a little high for ramen. I believe the Black Tiger ramen is at a $22ish price point, and I had to pay extra $3-4 to get the thick noodles. That's an expensive bowl of ramen! The only extra thing in there that I would say I don't see in other ramen bowls is the addition of the ground meat. Everything else was pretty standard, half of a soft boiled egg, bamboo, wood ear mushrooms, chashu, sprouts, and green onion. I feel like if a bowl like this (including an option for thick or thin noodles) were about the $18 price range, that seems a bit more reasonable. Otherwise, the soups were good, albeit super rich. (Note: if you take these home, you'll see a pretty significant hefty layer of fat form on the top of the broth after refrigeration). Due to the price point, I likely won't return, but not a bad place to visit if you're craving ramen.
The broth is just not rich enough. The Spicy Tonkatsu ramen just lacked the milky richness I've had at other places. The egg seemed old. Service was good.

I love that Long Beach has, over the years, accumulated a considerably large amount of delicious ramen shops. Great Tiger is another great addition and, arguably, contender for top ramen in the city. I felt like some kind of noodle soup on a rainy day and hadn't tried Great Tiger yet, so came here on a bit of a whim and it did NOT disappoint!! The menu is huge, there's so many soups, styles, and side dishes so there's a bit of something for everyone. Came here on a Friday for lunch and there was no wait. Starting off with the inside and the ambience, it definitely has that ramen shop feel on the inside. It even had videos of Japanese cooking on the TVs playing. Super nostalgic and super authentic feeling with all the decor inside. There's a lot of really yummy appetizers to choose from; I went for a fried chicken bao bun which had freshly fried karaage on top and a lot of slaw on the bottom that created a nice contrast between the two textures. They also give you some edamame on the house which was super nice! Warm and just tender enough. We each got a different ramen, personally I got the red tiger which was recommended by who I think was the owner of the shop. Delicious, super umami, creamy, and just enough spice to make my nose run and lips numb up a little. The ground pork and other toppings on here really shined, and the noodles were just the perfect chewy texture even though they were thin. Would definitely recommend for you to try this or the regular great tiger if you don't like spice for your first time here. I also tried a bit of the soup of my parents' choices--both the chicken and tonkotsu, and they were just as good. You can also upgrade to thick noodles if preferred. The menu includes mazeman which I think can be hard to find--usually I have to drive to LA, Torrance or the OC for that, so will have to come back to try it for sure! The staff was super friendly and food/service was fast. DEFINITELY will have to be back to try all the other ramens here. Give it a try!
My wife and I had a nice lunch at Great Tiger. The dual lunch combo is a great deal for $33. One appetizer and two bowls of ramen. My pork miso ramen was very good. The noodles were cooked perfectly and broth tasted good. I've typically had tonkatsu ramen, so this was slightly different but quite tasty. Server was quick and friendly. I'd definitely come back!
I'm craving Ramen, but too lazy to drive to Torrance, or Gardena area. This place is on my list for a while now and I'm so glad I did. The food definitely exceeded my expectations. The Bao's are moist and flavorful. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen definitely the spot. The broth is full flavor. The service is attentive. Clean and inviting inside., Go out and show support to this neighborhood restaurant.
Small place, but has plenty of seating. We were greeted right away. Service was good. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. This bowl was a 10/10. Perfect amount of spice. All the toppings were delicious and went well with the broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Definitely will be coming back to try the Pork broth ramen. I also ordered the sesame chicken, 10/10. The dipping sauce was great.
I believe I found this spot on Instagram Reels, and no regrets! I got their Black Tiger Ramen and swapped the chashu and ground pork for tofu (the broth is still pork). It was SO good! The spice got me for a second, lol. I also ordered two of their fried chicken bao buns, which were super delicious. The meal came with complementary edamame. The atmosphere was really cute, and I thought the layout was nice. There's a small bar section with Japanese art and posters where you can see the chef, which adds a sense of transparency. My two female servers were very kind, and my main server kept checking in and offering raspberry tea refills. I went alone, and when I used the restroom, I left my canteen on the table. Unfortunately, the busser thought I had left and threw away my ramen, which I had only eaten about 15% bc I prioritized the bao buns . I was sort of embarrassed & confused since there was still a lot left. Luckily, they were all super helpful and gave me the option to get a new ramen to-go. Overall, I'd definitely come again - it was worth the hour & a half trip!

Ordered takeout from here for the first time & was extremely disappointed. My bf ordered the black tiger lvl 3 & I ordered the red tiger lvl 4. We're really good at handling spice but we were both surprised when our broths were bright red. I honestly believe the cooks just dumped the entire spices they had into our broth. I only got to eat 3 bites before it became unbearable. After reading several other reviews I know that what we received is not normal. Mayb read more

Food was great. Ramen noodles were fresh and springy, broth was deep and flavorful. I ordered the black tiger ramen which came with all the sides. The wife ordered the pork miso ramen which had a clean and refreshing broth. The noodles were cooked to perfection and seasoned appropriately. Service was great the servers were knowledgeable about the menu and was able to give firm recommendations on what sold well as well as their favorites. I was excited a new ramen restaurant opened near my house. I came on a weekend during lunch time and I was served right away. The restaurant has a really nice ambiance, it feels like you're in Japan. I ordered the spicy Tonkatsu ramen and it was pretty good. Good amount of pork and the broth was flavorful. Overall would come back again! read more
It's the Fried Rice for me! Holy cannoli! This stuff is good! The flavor, the texture (the bean sprouts!), it's all on point! Rarely will I order only fried rice for a meal. But this one will absolutely be in my rotation! I ordered the combo though it erroneously came with chicken and shrimp but not one piece of beef. I didn't even care. That's how good this rice is! I had high hopes for Great Tiger Ramen, but unfortunately, it missed the mark. I ordered the shoyu tonkotsu ramen, which is usually a safe and flavorful choice, but this one was shockingly bland. For a dish that's hard to mess up, it was a major letdown. The service was just okay. Our server, was friendly and nice, but the timing could use some work. We were asked if we needed condiments when we were practically done with our meal -- not exactly helpful at that point. On a positive note, the sesame chicken was actually tasty, which is the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. Overall, I don't think I'll be coming back. Ramen should be rich, comforting, and full of flavor -- this just wasn't it. read more

Was excited to try this spot. Food was rich and flavorful. I ordered to go and didn't take a photo of my ramen.my order was packed with dry aand wet items sepseparated allowing me to have great ramen at home. And I ordered the spicy chicken whwhich was really good to. The ramen was a good balance of flavor and heat. All the ingredients were fresh. Service was great and helped me through the menu. The inside is reminiscent of noodle house and cool. You can sit right at the bar and look into the kitchen as your food is prepared. Check it out. read more

We were greeted quickly and sat immediately. All of the food was incredibly rich and delicious! Sometimes vegetarian ramen can lack flavor, but not here--the veggie ramen option still had a creamy, flavorful broth. Would def recommend it. The shrimp fried rice was super tasty, and even the small portion was very filling. Shop itself is very fun, vibrant, and full of nice decor. Staff is super friendly and kind. 5/5 s! read more

My favorite ramen spot near LGB! Good amount of meat, noodles for so full of flavor and the broth was just right. I had the spicy tonkotsu and it was a good amount of spice! Might not be for the mild spice lovers tho. Service was also on point! Food came out quick and our cups never went empty. read more

I was hungry after landing at the Long Beach Airport, and blindly chose this place based off of 20 reviews and wanting something warm on a cold winter day. This place did not disappoint. We ordered the sesame chicken (fried to perfection) and the black tiger ramen. If you want something that is very tasty, has two types of meat and leaves no room in your stomach, then you've got to try it. Will be coming back again! read more
I came here on a Sunday night in a group of 8, it was decently busy but not overcrowded! They don't have tables specifically set up for large groups but the staff joined tables together to accommodate our large group size which was greatly appreciated! I got the Black Tiger Ramen, which I though was overall really good, especially if you like more savory broth. It is pricier than the standard tonkotsu but it does come with many more toppings which is something I tend to be willing to spend a bit more on since I feel it brings together the dish. I also think they had a happy hour special because our water let us know Sapporo was $3 per glass which is cheaper than the menu list price. I'd definitely be willing to come back and try some of their other menu items! read more

Stopped here right after landing at Long Beach airport and needed a quick dinner. Was delicious, very quick service, and the staff were really nice and attentive. Our server chatted to us a bit about the recipes, and you could tell he really cared about providing a good experience. My husband had the spicy ramen and it definitely was very very spicy, if that's what you're after. Tvs with sports on were a nice touch. Would come back! read more

Decided to give a new ramen spot a try & boy am I glad we did! We were immediately greeted and directed to a table. We ordered the Sesame Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice & 2 Spicy Tonkotsu Ramens. I was very impressed with the Fried Rice, we were both immediately pleased! The Sesame Chicken was good as well and the Ramen was very tasty! My only note was that it lacked spiciness but thats just personal preference. Ernesto did an amazing job and was very attentive to our needs. He table touched plenty and made sure we were all good. All in all, we give this a 10/10 & will definitely be back for some more fried rice to go when not dining in. read more

I've been looking for a quick go to ramen spot and yall this is it!! I'm pretty picky and don't like salty broth. The Shio ramen is delicious and I always add bean sprouts. My fiance got the fried rice and sesame chicken and it was a really good serving! Definitely can be shared for 2 ppl. The beef on top of the rice was really flavorful. The service was really good they were so sweet. The inside is cute and clean. Definitely recommend!!! read more

Gave this place a try and was not disappointed! Their broth was rich but not too salty. The chashu melted in your mouth but still had a very nice grilled taste. We went with the safe option of tonkatsu but definitely want to come back and try their other ramens! The service was also really great and their staff was extremely nice. read more

I've tried ramen all around OC and LA and I must say this is one of the best I've ever had so far! And it's great knowing it's in Long Beach since I live here. I ordered the red tiger ramen, it was a perfect level of spicy, the pork belly was chefs kissss!! It literally melted in my mouth. We also got the chicken bao buns and fried chicken bao buns, they were also delicious. I will be back here very soon, I would love to try the other flavors. read more

An unsuspecting ramen joint hidden off of Lakewood and Willow. Many ramen choices with ample toppings. Love that egg and bamboo shoots are included! Also woodear mushrooms, say less. Beer on draft was cold and refreshing on this heat. We got the lunch combo and the fried rice and chicken sides were very generous portions. I had the red tiger ramen on the side and it was a nice spice level. Would come again, if not for the food, for the beer and ambience alone. read more

Absolutely delicious, amazing service, very nice people. This place allows you to order extra brother and noodles, my favorite kind of ramen place! I had enough topping left in my bowl to accommodate the extra noodles/broth, which amounted to ahout half the price of the original ramen bowl, worth it!! Cozy little place with a parking lot with at least a few open spots. If you're thinking about it, come give it a try!! read more
