This place is amazing because of how incredible the food and service are - the latter (delivered by Jordan) is authentic & superb and truly in a league of its own. If that's something you care about, you'll emerge from this restaurant feeling great! Jordan is the most caring and dedicated retail professional I've ever met at any establishment anywhere. I have never met anyone in my life who's bent over backwards for a complete stranger the way he did. Jordan was passionate about explaining the menu and importantly, meticulously identifying foods that I wouldn't develop a severe allergic reaction to (for which I have many) and he cared about this even more than I did! When I was only able to eat 25% of ingredients in the dish I ordered, he to my complete surprise offered a free side after I had already sat down because he felt bad I couldn't enjoy many of the foods. If this isn't redefining the very best of expectations, I don't know what is. The amount of care and dedication Jordan showed is enough to keep me coming back even if the food at GreCo was the most disgusting in the world - that's just how pleasant and kind Jordan is, but the food here is incredible, varied, and differentiated! I am sad to give only 3 stars but the food was missing something. I had the lamb with greek grains. My husband greek dinner plate with pork, with spanakopita egg rolls which were the best part. Came here for dinner on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed! The interiors are a bit tightly packed but modern. There was a bit of a wait to place an order on a weekday night. I asked the lady taking orders whether the chicken had garlic or onion, and she was very helpful and accommodating about making substitutions. I got the Mykonos salad with lemon yogurt and chicken and a side of zucchini chips as per her recommendation. The salad was fresh, flavorful, and filling. I loved the scoop of creamy lemon yogurt, and the chicken was flavorful and tender, and there was a lot of it. I didn't have room for the zucchini chips until later, when they had gotten a bit cold, but they were still pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. Would recommend trying this place out! read more

Their Greek donuts are definitely one of my favorite desserts on Newbury street! There are many different toppings that you can add to the Greek donuts and I personally think it's really good with honey especially. Donuts are so crispy and delicious. Finally Greek food on Newbury street! And it's affordable! The space is small so not ideal for large groups. We came in on a weekday because Sweetgreen was packed. Unfortunately they don't make fresh pitas like Saloniki, but the food was still good. The server was friendly and offered to answer any questions we might have on the food. We ended up ordering the veggie classic and the veggie plate. Next, time I think we will just stick with the classic wraps as it contains squash fritters, tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, and fries. The fritters were a little greasy for our liking. We ordered the plate with the zucchini fries, they were thinly sliced but could've used some spice or salt and pepper. The hot sauce is made fresh (they were actually making it while we were there). When we initially ordered we asked whether it was best to have the donuts hot and fresh and the server replied yes. So after we finished eating we ordered the donuts, which would take about 2 mins to cook. It was sad that they seemed to take pre-cooked donuts and put honey and walnuts on it. Having visited the Greek Islands last month, my Gre.Co experience was absolutely a flash back there! I ordered the veggie pita with tzatziki sauce and the standard tomato, onion and fries. DELICIOUS. The veggie is a lot of minced veggies with a crust and probably deep fried, but the insides were subtle and refreshing and actually unlike anything I've tasted - definitely not the stir fry veggies I was expecting when reading the menu. I'm also not vegetarian and I devoured the veggie pita. The tzatziki sauce is AMAZING and I'm hooked. It's essentially made of yogurt, dill, cucumber garlic, salt and olive oil - maybe lemon. I'm so happy to have found a Greek place that makes the pita wraps SO SIMILAR to those in Greece. I just want to have everything on their menu! If I could change some minor things though - more fries in the wrap and roll the pita tighter together so when eating, I won't be as concerned about my food falling out. For starters, I was confused about how to order a salad from their menu. I didn't realize I had to pick one of their signature salads, and then add a protein and a sauce. There was a communication issue with the friendly host, which didn't help with the confusion. Once I understood the ordering process, I chose the Horiatiki salad with chicken and spicy whipped feta and tzatziki. The salad was made quickly in the open kitchen and it was very delicious - especially the spicy whipped feta! Portions were also large for the price. Although small, the atmosphere is very open, bright, and inviting. I'd definitely go back and give it a second try if I was in the area. Haven't been out on Newbury Street in a while and didn't know this place existed until a few days ago when I saw it on Yelp. It's downstairs pretty close to Zara right amongst all of the shops, and is a small fast casual sort of place. Vibe reminds me of a Shake Shack for gyros. In any case the food was really delicious and surely hit the spot! The Pork Gyro was delicious and had the classic accoutrements like tomatoes, tzatziki and onions, while the Chicken Gyro had the same but with honey mustard sauce. They were just the right amount for dinner with a side of fries to share for two. The shop wasn't that busy and there was plenty of seating, although it is mostly communal tables and bars. They do have a small patio up top that is nice too. Cute decor in the shop with little Greek motifs! This place was perfect for a quick, not too expensive, tasty meal. read more

Probably one of the best Greek eateries I've ever tried. I was staying near Copley Place so GreCo was easily walkable. Randomly found it on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. The food is simple, but very tasty. I decided to build my own salad, which came with one protein, one sauce, and some pita ($10.50). I chose the Mykonos salad with bifteki (ground beef) and tzaziki (cucumber yogurt sauce), and although it didn't seem like much, it was delicious. I highly recommend both the protein and the sauce. The balsamic dressing for the salad complemented everything perfectly as well. You can also build your own pita or plate if you don't want a salad. It's small so there's not much seating, but it's fast dining. People tend to grab 'n go as well. Loved that it's on Newbury street so you can take a nice stroll after your meal. read more

The platter is the way to go, you get to choose a protein, a side, a "dressing" (spicy whipped feta, tzatziki, etc), and it comes with some tomatoes, onions. The classic chicken in the pita is fantastic too with fries in it. This spot is right on Newbury with a nice patio and steps down into the restaurant. This place is AUTHENTIC!! Run don't walk to get yourself a gyro from here! The flavor brought me right back to Chios island where I spent this past summer. It was incredible taste. Even the drink options: bottled water from Greece not Poland spring. If you're feeling creative I would recommend the Mastiha sparking water, it is a chios island staple drink. I couldn't believe they had it here, made me so happy to see. Vegan and vegetarian options, this place could not have been more up my alley. The zucchini cakes in the veggie gyro are sooo flavorful and authentic I could cry. Seriously so delicious. I would come here for lunch and dinner sooo much if I lived in the area. Yummy yummy! The gyros here are delicious but a bit expensive for the portion size. Two gyros run you about 21 dollars. I got the classic chicken and my husband got the classic pork and both were very tasty. It was a bit crowded when we went (Monday around 1pm) and the seating options are limited, especially if the weather isn't nice. The line goes very quickly though so we didn't wait long to order or get our food. The restaurant is small and I wouldn't recommend for a big group if you are looking to sit and eat. Greco is a fast paced experience with quick ordering times and a short wait. There's seating inside and outside but the inside seating is a little bit cramped. The Classic Bifteki had a great char and the spicy feta added a nice tang. The fries also had a very smoky and savory taste. The veggie gyro had generous pieces of zucchini fritters. My friend Alison said that "they have the opposite problem of other places, they've got too much filling and too little bread." The pork was a little tougher than my friend expected it to be but it was still bearable and delicious. Our gyros were all stuffed very full and they were very filling. Man oh man. I LOVE this spot, everyone and everything about this place is fantastic. Excellent service, and with a smile I might add. Excellent food, my favorites being the chicken pita meal, the pork pita, and the Horiatiki salad, but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. It's all absolutely delicious and cooked with care! The prices are a little high, but you will definitely have a full stomach by the time you're done eating, plus the symphony of flavors that you'll experience, dancing on your tongue; so with that said, it's totally justified. It is a small place but they offer outside seating as well, so be aware of the time you go, mainly 1 to 3pm which appears to be the busiest time of the day, especially on weekends. I like the decor a lot as well, as it's reminiscent of a Greek "Yia yia's" house, like little Greek fixtures and even Greek soda and other goods you can buy. they totally knew what they were going for there. They also have a rewards system as well, and you can save up a lot of points if you come here often, for free pitas and even a whole mixed grill, big enough for a group of 4 or 5. Order at the counter with a selection of gyros, plates or salads. I got the chicken gyro and the boyfriend got the lamb plate. Mine was good- chicken was well made with nice soft pita. Boyfriend really liked his lamb as well. Nothing terribly special. We also tried the "traditional coffee frappe", but since we are normally black coffee drinkers, got it black and it was truly awful. My fiance, her brother, and I stopped at GreCo for a quick dinner after learning that this place has authentic lamb gyros. While the Americanized version is tasty, nothing beats the much rarer real deal which comprises whole pieces of meat rather than a ground loaf. GreCo offers three legit gyro meat options, chicken, pork, and lamb, as well as ground beef, grilled sausage, and grilled veggies as options for sandwiches and salads. We all opted for lamb gyro and tried the standard pita sandwich as well as a salad. The lamb meat itself had a remarkably tender texture. The meat was a touch undersalted but was spiced appealingly. The soft, thick pitas held the contents of the sandwich easily. We chose to add a baba ganouj style charred eggplant spread and hot, crispy fries to our pitas and both tasted great. My fiance thoroughly enjoyed her hearty Cretan salad, which benefitted from peppery fresh arugula, a hearty bean blend, and a light vinaigrette dressing. Lamb was fantastic as were the spanakopita (am I spelling that right?). I am not sure if this place is looking to expand its beverage option, but I would love to see this place at least serve some Greek wine as IMO a glass of assyrtiko or athiri would have went great with the evening. I have been there so many times and I love it! Their menu is easy to understand, very nice environment and staff! This week I went for a quick dinner and order one of their plates - pork was the protein and zucchini fries was my side. Spicy feta as my sauce. It comes with pita bread, tomato and onions. So good!
