I have only good things to say about my experience at Greek XPress. The guy behind the counter was very nice and gave me a great recommendation. I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken lunch special. The portion was very generous and the flavors and textures were all excellent. Visually, it's an unassuming little counter service spot so honestly I didn't have very high expectations when I walked in. I wandered in around 1ish to grab a quick bite just to have something in my stomach before a long day. I was very pleasantly surprised. The lunch salad was crisp and fresh, the grilled chicken (felt like ~4-6oz) was charred, juicy and well seasoned and the dressing was perfectly balanced and tangy. All of it topped with a massive hunk of feta and a few pita wedges I left a happy man! All in all a very reasonably priced, relatively healthy meal that kept me satiated well into the evening. Came here for a quick lunch after church. This was a laid back, chill place. The Lunch Special is 11-4PM and available everyday. Decided to try the Greek Iced Frappe, which was coffee consisting of milk, sugar, and eggs. This was quite yummy, with a lovely, frothy and smooth consistency, with a bold coffee flavor. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was satisfyingly refreshing. I went with the Lunch Special, which was only around $15.I ordered the Gyro (mixture of beef and lamb), which came with tzatziki, onion, tomato, as well as a side of fries. The meat was delightfully tender, well seasoned, with a slight crisp. The veggies were nicely fresh and crunchy. There were a ton of fries, which were chock full of delicious spices, perfectly crispy and full of true potato taste. Service was great. The person behind the counter was personable and knowledgeable about the menu. I would return to try the Moussaka or Charbroiled Salmon with Greek Rice Pilaf and Oven Lemon Potatoes. read more

This is a rough approximation of church picnic Greek food. White meat was dry, dark meat tasted cheap, pita was dry, lemony potatoes ended up being the highlight. Exactly what I remember from when I was a kid. The wait time of 15 minutes was on the high end for a place with 6/7th of the word "express" in its name. This is a small space, right across from PABT, where it's mostly take out orders. There are a few high chairs to eat in. You can order ahead or walk in and order at a station or at the counter. The people are pleasant when placing my order. I got the Pork Souvlaki Platter. And then, as I was waiting for the platter, I saw they had Greek Soda Espa and Sour Cherry. :) The food was packaged in an aluminum lined cardboard box for the rice, pork, and pita. The salad was in a separate aluminum container and 2 little containers for the salad dressing and Tzatziki sauce. The box survived until I got all the way home in NJ, smelling amazing! LoL It was still warm despite the fact I was next to the window with the AC on full blast. The pork was a little tough, but nothing I didn't expect as grilled pork usually doesn't get as tender as I would like, but it's still very tasty, though. Rice was flavorful. Pretty solid chicken kebab combo platter. Got fries as a side which were well seasoned and yummy. Got the tzatziki sauce which went well with the pita. Overall a great lunch. I thought the 2 kebabs wouldn't be sufficient but it was filling. Just wish the chicken was a tad more tender but I saved it with the tzatziki sauce. Popped in for dinner before a show and I had a Groupon to use, but everything went smoothly with no hiccups. I ordered the combo platter which came with two protein options, pita bread, side, and choice of soup or salad. I had the beef and lamb along with sausage as my proteins, regular pita bread and lemon potatoes as my side. I opted for the soup and got the chicken, lemon rice soup, which was indeed very lemony. Everything came out piping hot and yummy with a good portion of meat. As a dessert, I got rice pudding, which was a bit different than I expected, but tasted good. Great spot in Midtown if you want a gyro! While I love me a gyro off the cart, the gyro platter from Greek Xpress just hits different. Something about the combination of tender lander, tangy tzatziki sauce and some seasoned fries is incredible. The portion is massive whether it's the huge serving of fries or the generous portion of meat in the gyro. Service is always quick and easy whether it's in store or their speedy delivery service. I wanted to try Greek food, so I ordered from Greek Xpress. I decided on a grilled chicken wrap, with a side of fries and some soup. My food was delivered 15 minutes earlier than I expected, which is always a fun surprise :) Overall: If I didn't have the lemon chicken rice soup, this would be a 5 star review. No questions. The wrap and fries were just that good. I definitely would order from here again, but I'll avoid the lemon chicken soup. It just wasn't for me. Grilled Chicken Greek Salad Wrap Absolutely wonderful. It had fresh crunchy cucumber, tomato, onions, some nice soft cheese, and tasty chicken coated in a delicious sauce!! I actually couldn't finish my whole wrap in one sitting (more on that later), and even after 24 hours, the wrap was still tasty. You can eat this straight out of the fridge, and I recommend doing so if you have leftovers like me. My only gripe is that I dropped a big chunk of chicken on the floor. That's my fault, nothing wrong with the restaurant. If you're the person who made my wrap, thank you, it was so tasty. French Fries It's fried potatoes with seasoning, you'd have to go out of your to actually ruin them. That being said, the oregano was interesting. Made the room smell like pizza. Very lovely. Good crispy exterior. Everything you want out of a good french fry. Lemon chicken rice soup It was one of those half quarts of soup. Love those containers. It was certainly a lot of soup. I appreciate that it was wrapped and put in a separate bag to keep the liquid contained. It was very hot when I got it, which I appreciated. It's an opaque yellow liquid, like some kind of potion in a video game, except it's just soup. As for the taste: it definitely had lemon, chicken and rice. It was sour. And that was it: just sour, with not a lot else going on. My experience suffered for it. I didn't taste any savory flavors from the chicken or the rice, and they seemed more for texture. I couldn't get over how it was just sour. That's not to say this is bad! If you LOVE sour liquid but thought, "hey i want chicken in this and maybe some rice" this is THE soup for you. While looking through Door Dash, I came across this place. I went on their website to check out the full menu. After reading the mostly positive reviews I decided to place an order (through the restaurant, which saved me a little money, thank you!). I picked the Aegean salad with Chicken Souvlaki and honey mustard dressing. I chose to sub romaine for mixed greens, extra mandarin oranges, no cucumbers and tomatoes, add onions. The salad arrived with an extra cup of dressing as asked, plus a generous amount of warm pita. It was a nice portion as mentioned in a previous review however, I would have liked a bit more chicken souvlaki in it. The chicken was excellent, cooked really well and seasoned well too. I don't know if the honey mustard was homemade but it was pretty good. The lettuce and onions were fresh and crisp. They probably could have drained the oranges a little bit but honestly, I didn't care because it was a good lunch and I definitely would order from them again. A conference catered this for lunch and being in Astoria, I didn't have high hopes for this Greek lunch. To my surprise, it was pretty good and I wonder if it would be better if served hot. I had a last minute catering need for 30 people and Greek Xpress was able to fulfill our order in under an hour and the food was GREAT!

In my (admittedly limited) experience the food is mediocre at best and the prices are uncomfortably high for what you get. Things I tried include: Spinach pie appetizer ($10.95): two small baseball-size-ish pastries with not enough filling. I was hoping for phyllo dough but it was more like a flaky pie crust. Chicken and pork stick lunch special ($13.95): the skewered chicken breast was pretty dry and not particularly flavorful. The pork had a bit of fat and was slightly better. Lemon potato side (included with the lunch special): maybe they were having an off day or something, but some of the potatoes were freakishly salty and/or sour?? I couldn't finish them, and I love salty/sour things (Filipino chicken adobo, salt and vinegar potato chips, etc) Tzatziki (included with the lunch special): alright but nothing special. Possibly the least objectionable part of the meal but there wasn't really enough for all of the pita bread plus the skewers. In conclusion: meh food, meh prices, would not return. Afterwards I kinda felt like I should've just gone to Jollibee or something. Honestly I was tempted to go as low as 1 star for this review but that seemed too harsh. I passed by this place the night prior and decided to try it for lunch. Glad I did! I got a gyro on a pita and it was delicious and very fresh. I went on a weekday about noon. There weren't many customers when I arrived but soon after it was starting to get busy. A few people that came in right after me ordered before me by the time I figured out what I wanted. It was delivered so quickly, I was surprised. What was even more surprising to me was the way they handled customer service over the phone call - which frankly, at this point I must admit, at many other even good restaurants has been quite a disappointment!!! The food far exceeded my expectations. Everything was delicious. (Okay, the pilaf was uninspired. Peas & carrots mixed with rice does not a pilaf make.) The food was carefully packed, so everything that was supposed to be hot was, and everything that was supposed to be cold was as well. The salad was surprising; I can't remember the last time I had iceberg lettuce. It isn't my favorite salad green, but I must say it was a refreshing change from the half-wilted, should-have-been-thrown-away 'spring mix' most restaurants send. The tzatziki was almost decadently creamy and rich. The spanikopita was fantastic, and the orange cake was the perfect sweet ending. We are Greek, and although this is not exactly like Yia Yia (grandma's) cooking, it is pretty darn close. Way better than what we expected for a Greek Fast Food chain! Someone commented that the Chicken Lemon Rice soup was very tart and yellow. In Greek, this soup is called Avgolemono soup. Avgo means egg. The whole egg is used which is what makes it yellow. The lemon makes it tart. It is very lemony, but it's how much lemon that I would put in it at home. So good for you and yummy! My husband had the Gyro and said it was great! It had a lot of meat in it for the money! We shared some lemon potatoes, and they were just like Yia Yia's! Go and enjoy! read more
