This place was a recommendation, and we are so glad we tried it! The food was literally the tastiest ever - we ordered the hamburger with fries, and the jalapeño jack chicken fried chicken. My first time having chicken fried chicken & I'm so glad it was here! The server was a lady who was incredibly nice, the host was very kind & quick to seat. The vibes are very chill, no need to dress up to come in this welcoming restaurant!!! We will be coming back to this local rustic spot very soon to leave room for dessert!

We are visiting from the DFW area and came by to try this place out and it was delicious. The service was great and we actually got there just before the crowd picked up. The place is pretty cool inside with lots of photos and antique items. The portion sizes were huge and the flavor was wonderful.... Definitely two thumbs up!!!

Y'all this place was amazing!!! I had the green chili chicken fried steak and wow if you're ever in Amarillo, this is the place!! Great friendly service, comfortable home atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The building would be a definition of a dive, but it's kept clean and they have a really hard working staff. I ordered the jalapeño chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and corn. Literally one of the top chicken fried steaks I've ever had. Amazing! Not to spicy, perfect heat level. The mashed potatoes were so good. Tasted homhomemade like mom just mashed them in the kitchen. The corn was good- nothing unique, but good. The show stopper was the green chili mac and cheese. Unbelievable! I'd come back just for this. Great place- worth the drive out of town!

The green chile burger was awesome. Juicy and packed with flavor. The green Chile cheese fries are ok. They'd be real good with a cheese sauce. Service was very friendly and attentive. Awesome ambiance. Reminds me of an outpost. The volume level is moderate.

I can't say enough about the food here. It is extremely tasty. The chicken fried steak is so tender. You can cut it with your forth. The service is absolutely wonderful. They're so attentive. And the atmosphere is very rustic, which I really like.

I've worked in customer service myself, and my past employers would never have tolerated this kind of interaction with customers. I visit this restaurant nearly every year, sometimes twice a year, and after all these years, the unwelcoming attitude never seems to improve. When I said it was just me, I was asked, "Do you want to sit at the bar or in the dining area?" I chose the dining area and was told I would be seated with other families. No smile, no warmth, and not even a simple confirmation that this was okay--it just felt unnecessarily dismissive with a snooty attitude. Is being unwelcoming a requirement when hiring hostesses, or is it a generational thing? I wonder when this will finally be addressed and improved. I may die of a heart attack if I ever actually see it happen! Thankfully, the food and table service were much better. The chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli was hot and delicious, and my server was very friendly. It's just unfortunate that the experience starts off on such an unwelcoming note.

We were seated in a saloon-style dining hall surrounded by lots of deer heads and wagon-wheel lights. The service was good and the $42 steak was huge and tender--a good value and enough to feed two people. We also really enjoyed the loaded bbq brisket fries that were covered in cheese sauce and meaty goodness. Our only complaint would be the quality of the sides--the bbq beans were hard, the macaroni was slightly overcooked and the coleslaw had pineapple in it (possibly a Texan delicacy, but unfortunately not suited to our personal tastebuds). That being said, we loved all the extra perks that came with dining at such an establishment--like the complimentary plastic cups, the gift shop filled with quirky novelty items, and the dozens of photo-ops sprinkled throughout the property. We especially enjoyed taking selfies in the big chair, a giant-sized lawn chair located in the back patio. You can also spot a large poisonous snake located in the back of the restaurant if you keep your eyes peeled! All in all, if you're a fan of themed restaurants, I highly recommend Big Texan. (PS, they have really good complimentary dinner rolls that are even better than the ones at TX Roadhouse!)

But if your idea of culinary heaven involves a grease-stained paper liner, an old-school Texas roadhouse vibe, and a burger that requires structural support, you have arrived at the right place. Nestled just a few blocks off Interstate 40 in a historic, diminutive former dance hall moved wholesale from neighboring Claude, Texas, Coyote Bluff is tiny. With only about 12 tables packed into its 1,000 square feet, the atmosphere is alive with a loud, friendly hum, a dirt parking lot, and a vintage bathtub floating full of ice and cold beer bottles. The place is amazing!!!! The unique steaming process is really amazing. You have to try the chili cheese fries to go with it. The menu keeps its focus tight, centering around half-pound patties of lean Texas ground beef cooked to order. While traditional options like the Hickory Burger and the Green Chili Cheese Burger are stellar, the undisputed heavyweight titleholder here is the legendary Burger from Hell. I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat. Instead, it offers a beautifully layered flavor profile. The beef patty with Tabasco and their proprietary "Coyote Hell Sauce," then smothers it in gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, and fresh, vibrant sautéed jalapeños. It arrived on a toasted onion bun, it lands a solid 7 out of 10 on the heat scale. But rather than scorching your palate, it wraps it in a vinegary, spicy, deeply savory warmth. This place also serves up classic, heavy-hitting Texas roadhouse appetizers: Each of these are amazing sides and are worth of mentioning, First the Cheese Fries with Green Chiles, which I had with my burger and my wife had with her Chicken fried steak, it is served on a massive aluminum platter, these fresh-cut fries are heavily blanketed in melted cheese and mild green chiles. They are a mandatory companion to the burgers.  Other appetizers worth of note, are the Texas Red Chili & Green Chili Stew: The thick, hearty green chili stew is packed with meat and mild green peppers, offering a wonderful warming comfort, especially during cool Panhandle days.  and any of the Fried options ranging from baskets of battered fried pickles, garlic mushrooms, and stuffed jalapeños. Because everything is cooked to order and the dining room is incredibly compact, expect a wait during lunch rushes or weekends. However, that time spent waiting in the dirt lot among locals and passing road-trippers is part of the charm. Coyote Bluff Cafe doesn't try to be anything other than a spectacular, small-town Texas burger joint, and it executes that identity flawlessly. This is a MUST Stop in Texas

Aside from the Seafood Fondeaux being a little on the saltier side...Saltgrass Steakhouse is probably the #1 Steakhouse here in Amarillo Texas (just my opinion)...if I had to leave one two word adjective to describe my entire experience today at this Steak House...."Michelin Worthy." Obviously not at Joel Robuchon level, but they sure execute everything like Brick & Mortar Steakhouse would be expected on Rodeo Drive. Perfect Medium Rare, Great baked sweet potatoes with that foam melt butter, garlic butter and grilled shrimp were cherries on top of the pie as a Steak Add-on, phenomenal balsamic vinegarette fused Blue Cheese crumbs Wedge Salad, and the Seafood Fondeaux was as if you married lobster bisque with creme spinach and queso, a superb starter. Premium Service by Isabel, top notch multitasker handling the bar, and multiple fronts. A well put together Southern Cowboy country Interior with very fitting country music. First time at Saltgrass, and what are my last thoughts? Definitely on my recommend list to anyone looking for a casual weekday steak lunch or dinner. Worth the spend! Edit: ***oh...pshhh no wonder, this steakhouse is sister restaurants with Mastros and Morton's~~ It's like the Swatch Group, if Mastros was Breguet, then Morton's would be Omega, and Saltgrass...Longines.

Worst instance now making me leave this review...and not coming back. Started off just standing waiting to be seated, not even in the door because of a group of people. Said they were a big party made sense why it may be hard to get in. Should of just left then. Lackluster attention from staff for everyone that came in after that group. Saw one couple even immediately be seated though after waiting 20 min with 3 people ahead of us and another group behind. (Happened to know the waitress apparently) Saw one table just up and leave due to being ignored and waiting on ticket to the point they left some cash and up and left in a very bad mood. Got told multiple times a 10-15 min wait due to tables needing cleaned off. There were 4 open tops that were empty throughout restaurant, the whole time and then another 3 opened up while waiting. Then was told 20-30 min wait due to the kitchen being backed up. At that point we just up and left combined with the VIP treatment of people being able to skip ahead of not 1 or 2 but 4 other groups of only 2 to 4 people with at least 5 or 6 open tables. I don't leave reviews often and do for great experiences and bad experiences this was one of the worst. The waitresses were clueless high school or 20 somethings not wanting to actively work and instead argue over whose fault it was a table left or why people would have their name written down and instead would leave due to the treatment of even just being seated, but somehow it's the kitchens fualt. 10/10 do not recommend and don't bother.
