A hidden gem in Loomis that truly feels like home. This family-owned Thai restaurant is open only for dinner, and you can feel the love in every detail. The owner cooks everything himself, while his wife warmly takes orders -- a beautiful, old-school partnership that instantly makes you feel welcome. The interiors are cozy and thoughtfully done, creating a calm, inviting atmosphere. The food is exquisite, clearly made with care and experience -- flavors that stay with you long after the meal. Yes, there can be long wait times, but it's absolutely worth it. This is not fast food; it's food made with heart. A place that reminds you why small, family-run restaurants are so special Highly recommended if you're in Loomis and don't mind slowing down for something truly memorable.

The green elephant is a hidden gem located in Loomis a place where I would never expect to have some of the best Asian food of my life, the service is handled by one person and one person alone a sweet Burmese lady that works her butt off taking care of the hosting serving and bussing of each and every shift. The ambiance is amazing as she takes care of each and every guest with the sweetest and kindest demeanor. She gives each table care and always has the best recommendations, and that's how I got to try the best food. Thank you Green Elephant for being such a gem

Overall we had a very good experience. The food was flavorful and well made... however the texture of the chicken was a little odd in our opinion. I am not sure how to describe it other than perhaps a little gummy? But everything else was amazing and delicious. The lady who helped us was nice and answered all our questions. The decorations were nice and had a warm feel. The bathroom was clean, but the paper towel dispenser seemed broken. All in all, I recommend this place to others.

Words cannot describe how happy we are to finally have tried this place. There are 3 restaurants in this complex and all are insanely good, but this is our new favorite! Great service from our waitress, and they were able to make a vegan Thai tea with coconut milk which I love. We had the mussuman curry beef, pad Thai noodles, and butter chicken and all were spectacular. I highly recommend coming here!

The food is consistently amazing and packed with flavor. The tea leaf salad is a must. Super fresh, crunchy, and unlike anything else around here. The basil chili lamb brings the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and the eggplant is cooked perfectly every time. The sesame chicken is crispy and flavorful. It and the coconut rice balanced the spiciness of the lamb and eggplant perfectly. My wife likes to wash it down with a blue moon. I believe the traditional Burmese beer is similar. Everything I've had here has been solid, and you can tell they actually care about the quality of their food. If you're looking for something different from the usual spots in Folsom, definitely give Burma Lite a try. You won't regret it.

I expected more mint flavor from a dish with mint in the name. All in all, no dish was bad, but was not really impressed by anything either. Service was good. Pretty good portions. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way for personally. However, with so many five stars reviews, definitely think you should give Burma Light a try if you're thinking about it!

Well, a friend also recommend it as they live in town. Small town, most places do close pretty early. I think they closed around 8pm when we arrived. They were able to accommodate my group last minute. It was Thursday, the farmers market was going on out front and the place was pretty mellow. Inside, it was mellow but once you were in the back patio, it was pretty lively. It's where they seated us. First time also trying Burmese food. Menu did have a lot of dishes that are pretty much similar to the other southeast asian dishes. Pretty much the seasonings varies here and there. Service was great from start to finish as everyone was very sweet and friendly. Constantly checking in on us to make sure that everything was taken care of. Food wise, we started off with some of their starter. Burmese chicken wings and added fries. The seasoning was quite nice and tasty. Tossed with fries, onions, bell peppers and garlic bits. Quite tasty. Shrimp basket, classic fried shrimp in rice paper. Just like an egg roll. They were quite nice and tasty. Crispy pork belly, marinated pork belly served with a tamarind sauce. The nice crunch and sweet sauce were all great together. Entrees, a mixture of everything to share. The spicy noodles which were pretty much similar to pad Thai. Stir fry noodles with bell peppers, onions, green onions, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, peanuts and adorned with shredded cabbage. Perry much their version of pad Thai. It was good but a little too sweet for my liking. Burmese style chicken biryani, slow cooked chicken thighs and drumsticks marinated in butter, yogurt, masala, ginger and served with biryani rice. That was a meal in its own. Tasty with the sauce and the chicken literally fell off the bone. Basil chili beef was quite nice. The flavors were really good and the beef was tender. Fiery pork was a recommendation from the waiter which was also a nice dish. Stir fry tofu with pork, red onion, bell peppers, string beans, garlic and a house special soy sauce. Tasty dish as well. Lastly the chicken red curry. Slow cooked with potatoes, onions, Marsala, paprika in a rich sauce. Served with steamed rice. It was good but the other dishes outshine it. We did like the food. Very similar to a lot of other Asian dishes but their version and take on it. Pretty much similar but change it up with the spices. Service was great and the place was nice. Glad we got a table on the patio versus inside.

The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially if you circle around the back neighborhood area. The wait was reasonable, the outdoor patio seating was nice, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when craving Burmese food.

Our server, Hameed, was absolutely wonderful--so patient, attentive, and gracious even though we arrived at such an inconvenient time. He made us feel completely welcome and never rushed us. The food, as always, was extraordinary. The Tea Leaf Salad and Samosas were exquisite--bright, complex, and perfectly balanced. This was my nephew's first time trying Burmese cuisine and he was completely blown away. For our mains, I had the Shredded Mint Chicken, which was fragrant, fresh, and packed with flavor. Burma Superstar has long been one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland, and experiences like this are exactly why. Exceptional food, exceptional hospitality, and a team that truly cares about their guests. Things changed: more breading on the chicken (spicy crispy chicken) and reduced protein in some of the other dishes, too. But the flavors still hit and its popularity hasn't dimmed much on the nights I've gone over the last few years. I bought their cookbook years back but much of what I like isn't in it, so I keep coming back for the food and community vibes. There is a communal table, which I appreciate though I tend to sit at the bar when I go alone. It's worth it to get a view of what's happening all around you. The B S in Alameda doesn't have the same energy or coziness, but it is easier to access with safer parking (now windows broken there but I've had that here and been hassled walking to/from) and dramatically shorter waits. The diversity of the diners is much lower than this one though (Alameda is still mostly old white people) and the menu has more options here, so I'll continue to return again and again and recommend it to others ... and hope to not have to replace car windows.
