We ordered in from one of our favorite go to places a couple of days ago, their juicy and large bison burger with fries. They came perfectly cooked as we requested with a ton of crispy fries. The new Green Kitchen on 70th Street is a more chic type place for dining out with a smaller targeted menu and built to enhance a bar scene . Updated review -- ordered again and I'm getting a better sense of what's good here. I had the chicken gyro and enjoyed it. Had regular fries, which were better than the sweet potato fries, but tasted a bit dry. The desserts were amazing! I had apple pie and mousse cake and loved both of them. Got a blueberry muffin which was large and would have been good if it was fresh, but was sadly past its prime. Quesadilla was okay, but the cheese tasted like cheddar which was a bit odd for a quesadilla. Delivery was fast and food came hot. Review #1 -- Great delivery - food came quickly, packaged well, and still piping hot. Food was just average, and not cheap, but portions were large. I had french onion soup - it was good, especially considering it was delivery. Also had the turkey meatloaf. I wasn't a fan. It came with gravy instead of tomato sauce. We happened upon Green Kitchen when a group of 7 of us were looking for any place that could take a 7 top walk in. Luckily, this place had plenty of space. From what's written on the menu, it seems like this place has been here for decades, and it is certainly popular with the after school crowd based on the number of kids running around the place. They have a decent happy hour menu and their usual menu is humongous. Seems to be a mix of American and Mediterranean food. I had the chicken Cesar and a spicy rigatoni, both of which were great. Some of the other dishes the group got were the shrimp scampi linguini, chicken kebabs, and turkey burger. The only dish I heard any issues with were the chicken kebabs, which my friend said had really large vegetable chunks in it. Food was solid, but the service was a bit slow since it seems most people came all at once. Still, the staff was very friendly, and I could see myself stopping by if I'm in the area again. read more

Green kitchen is what I would call an upscale casual diner, mainly because when you look in from the outside it doesn't look like a traditional hustle and bustle diner, but more like a restaurant. They have the standard multi-page diner menu with some unique items sprinkled in, but overall there is definitely something for everyone in your party, picky eaters and explorative ones alike. The service is good, the place is usually busy, and the food portions are rather large (albeit a tad expensive in my opinion). The crowd during breakfast and lunch hours is an even mix of families, groups of friends, and couples, which is honestly pretty refreshing considering the crazy nyc brunch scene. I'd recommend this spot as a great place to bring your family for brunch when you don't want to go to someplace overly trendy, but still want a nice nyc brunch experience! read more

Walking up to this spot, I was instantly drawn in by the charming floral decorations on the exterior - it gave off cozy diner vibes, and I was hopeful the food would match. Unfortunately, the inside didn't live up to the promise. I was hungry, so the sandwich I ordered *seemed* decent, but honestly, it lacked any real flavor. Good spot if you are looking for simple diner style food! I always assumed from the name of it that this was a vegan or vegetarian restaurant. So when I went for the first time recently, I was surprised to realize that it was basically just a nicely decorated diner with some healthier options. If you are a fan of diners, this is a good spot for you. I wouldn't necessarily rave about that he quality or taste of the food, but for what it is-it is not bad! I'm torn between Four and Five Stars. It was a very good experience. I misread Oatmeal Pancakes and felt that the Almond taste in the Pancakes was very sweet. It's a spacious room airy and open. It's very clean and staff were very well trained. A friendly hostess welcomed me as soon as I walked in the door. I immediately felt comfortable. I was seated at a nice table for two. In a moment my waiter brought water and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Then my food waiter came and took my order. Before I knew it a beautiful plate of very hot Oatmeal Almond Pancakes appeared. Meanwhile I made acquaintance with the lady next to me. She let me Photo her Spinach Feta Omelette. Her omelette came with toast also. You can see my beautiful pancakes in my photos. Nothing stopped me from eating the whole plate. They have a beautiful bar if you prefer to just have drinks. In the rear is the bathroom. Appears to be unisex. They take credit cards and my waiter handled the payment. You can be assured I will return and try other Pancakes and the waffles! For an extra $2.50 you can have coffee and juice with your breakfast. Breakfast is served until 11am. I'm going to check out their lunch menu next time I walk by. This restaurant has been a neighborhood staple on First Avenue and 77th Street since 1931 from what I read. I have found the service and the many various breakfast choices all to be always good. Currently at Green Kitchen on 2nd ave. The place is a bit nosey but that's usual for manhattan restaurants. The server I have, she has long blonde hair, is FANTASTIC. She has been checking on me every 7 minutes, making sure I'm good. It's about 12:30pm on a Tuesday and it's pretty busy. They have indoor and outdoor dining, however I am inside. I ordered the Fresh Fruit Waffles which get a 10/10 and a mimosa which is also good. They have happy hour where drinks are $8 each. I am enjoying my time dining here. I can't imagine anyone not loving this place. I discovered Green Kitchen "by accident" on a recent trip to NYC and so glad I did! The outdoor seating area is cozy and fun (great vibe!) and the drinks, food and service are all wonderful. I visited twice during weekends and both experiences were great. Amazing deli-style wraps with top quality meats and fries (we had sweet potato and waffle) were incredible. The drinks were amazing (I had Aperol spritz both times) and the employees are very friendly. I ended up with the same waitress on both visits and was very happy about this! New gastro-diner that recently opened on the UES. A bit pricey for what it is, basically diner food with a flair, but pretty decent overall. We dropped in here to try it out for a pre-NYE bite to eat before watching the ball drop to being in 2019. Service was good. The location itself has a spiffy look with a touch of retro style. Clean and nice bathrooms. Not the biggest facility, but full of tables and booths along the walls. Full bar offering a cocktail list, and ok selection of draft and bottled brews. The food was actually pretty tasty. Eggplant parmesan sandwich, Mexi tuna wrap, onion rings that were not greasy at all, and a delicious chicken lemon orzo soup. Had to wash it down with a Brooklyn Lager and good old fashioned chocolate egg cream. Overall, the menu is large and has more than enough to choose from for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Worth a shot, or a once in a while meal if you want to spend the money as it's a nicer choice as compared to regular diners. read more

During the lockdown while I would do my daily walk I kept walking by this place. There was always tons of people standing in front of the restaurant- mainly drinking. They looked so happy, and their drinks always looked amazing. I stopped in because I was bored and needed to drink. Upon walking in, I knew I was going to like this place. It felt upscale, but not to upscale, and very cozy. I ordered a margarita and spinach dip. The margarita was to my liking- a nice balance of sweet and tart. The spinach dip came with warm pita bread and not crusty chips( hallelujah).all the tables had a bottle of sanitizer( I love when restaurants do this). Since outdoor dining has opened up we have come here several times for drinks. I love their outdoor setup and I love that their tables aren't on 2nd Ave, but you can sit on the quieter side street. Recently we decided to try the food here as well. I was surprised by how extensive their menu is, they have a full diner menu so there is something on there for everyone. We've tried the fried calamari which was delicious! I highly recommend it as an appetizer for the table! We've also had the gyro, a couple of the wraps, a turkey melt and the avocado toast for brunch. We also recently tried the smoothies, the Tropicana and the peanut butter and both were delicious. I highly recommend the peanut butter which also comes with banana and is so good! The service is always great, super quick, and the waiters are all very friendly. Health hazard- hygiene alert In the days of corona virus spread. The staff at this place needs awareness. Since it was my bday (during the corona virus spread) I had to cancel all plans but still decided to go to this place (two blocks away from home) for a quick drink. I ordered Pencilin cocktail; mix of whiskey, ginger n honey. The drink was super strong and extremely sweet so asked the bar tender to top it up with ice. He took my glass, used his left palm to cup around the rim to pour ice. Pls tell me when we have been asked to avoid human touch, will I put my lips on that glass to sip my drink?. When I told the bar tender, he got defensive saying that he regularly washes his hands. Sorry that's no excuse, I'm not comfortable sipping from a potentially infected glass. Anyway I left without finishing the drink and paying for nothing. Seriously people still don't get it. My fault I shdnt step out coz there is clearly no awareness still whatsoever. read more
