After being captivated by its beautiful foliage design, I knew I had to try Green Kitchen. Before trying Green Kitchen, I believed its exterior design and name correlated to healthy food with many "green" menu options. However, its menu is dominated by American Food that one would usually expect at a traditional diner. This reality threw me a bit once I sat down and surveyed the menu. I came here for brunch on Father's Day, and while it was nice to have traditional options, I was expecting Green Kitchen to add a little taste and originality to their meals. While the bar area of the restaurant was nice and colorful, the open space where many people sat wasn't as well put together. Although the food came out within a reasonable time frame, I wish the servers were more enthusiastic and scrupulous about giving us all the menus, not just the drink one. read more

Food was relatively good. We ordered the ahi tuna salad, burratta (not sure if I spelled that right), and BLT. Quantity wise, it was a great deal, salad was a little bland though and BLT was dry. Burratta was delicious though. Service was okay, the waiter forgot our iced tea but gave us a full refund. Overall though, it was an enjoyable experience. I'd say 5 for my lunch, but 2 for the service. To look at it charitably, I could say we weren't at all rushed. But really, we had to flag down someone to ask for menus, and then it took quite a while for a server to come take our orders. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, which was good. Then finally we had to flag someone down for the check. And then nobody came to pick up our payment so I went inside. Someone took our cards and I stood and waited. Finally several minutes later, someone came over to ask if he could help me. I explained that I had given someone else our credit cards with our check and I was waiting for them back; he asked me what table we were at and told me it'd be out shortly. Which, it finally was. Inside was quite noisy, though not every table was occupied, and it appeared that not counting the people who bussed the tables, there were maybe 4 servers for the whole place, inside and out. Anyway, my friend and I both chose the eggs Florentine, 2 lovely poached eggs over spinach and feta, with really good homestyle potatoes; after I indulged in about a third of them, I was just picking out the lovely little slices of peppers and onion. All was very good. If I go there again, it'll be at 11:30 or at 2:00; quite apparent that they can't handle inside and out at lunch rush (got there at 12:30, didn't even order until 1). read more

If I could give 6 stars I would. I found myself stranded with no wallet, no battery on my phone and 25 emails to send for work and was welcomed to sit at the bar and charge my phone by the workers. Seriously? Where else does this happen? Most places don't even let you use their bathroom if you don't order anything. It's really loud inside. Acoustics are terrible. Can't hear across the table. How about installing an acoustic ceiling? There is plenty of room. Oh, and there's no need for music on the speakers -- only worsens the problem. Waldorf salad looked pretty but was sort of DIY, not cut fine and blended (as a proper Waldorf should be, to blend the flavors). The service was fine. I went with a friend for brunch on Mother's Day and service was friendly and good, in spite of the holiday crowd. My classic eggs Benedict with potatoes were delicious, and my friend's Belgian waffle with turkey bacon looked good as well. The waitstaff was accommodating to my friend and her requests, and they did not rush us out (which again, on Mother's Day, says a lot). I ordered the Avocado Benedict and it was really incredible, the chipotle sauce they put on top is the perfect amount of flavor. In addition to this the service was too good! I had about 5 people check on me within my time dining here, just really attentive which was nice. I'll start by saying our server, Nick, was terrific. For a party of eight the food came out at the same time, which is always nice. The plates look great, even if the flavors may have been off a little from expectation, but certainly edible. The room itself is very nice, and really enjoyed the music being played. I felt our greeting was a little cold and our party staggered in from different places. It all worked out, but just felt a little unwelcoming. The place looked clean however I had the worst salmon burger. I should have returned it. It was so dry like cardboard that it must have been on the heat all day long. Ordered take-out (from the 70th St location), and they forgot to include the cole slaw or pickle with my order of two cheeseburger deluxes. The burgers were relatively small (i.e. much smaller than the ones you get at Jackson Hole), but they tasted okay. the upcharge for substituting onion rings or sweet potato fries was twice as much as they charge at JHW. Overall, decent food, but the prices are absurd compared with either the quantity or quality of what you receive. Top that off with the fact they bang you 3.5% for using a credit card (I know, I know...lots of places do that now/still). I wanted to really like this place and make it our new neighborhood go to for a quick casual meal. We had pretty high hopes. Sadly, they disappointed. First off, at dinner the default menu is limited and only (of course) has more expensive "high end" options. They won't tel you there is a full menu and won't give it to you unless you ask. So, I chose something I wasn't too thrilled about getting. First, we shared "cauliflower poppers," which I was expecting something crispy - baked or fried. Instead, we got loose, limp cauliflower (tasted like it had been boiled, honestly) with some Buffalo sauce from a bottle poured onto it. Wound up taking it home to try to resurrect in the air fryer. Then, we got their "big smack" burger that I was told came with fries. Instead they were home fries that tasted like they were leftovers from the breakfast service that they ran through the fryer a second time. When I mentioned I as hoping for regular fries I was told "try these, they're good," but nope they weren't good and they wouldn't switch them for me. Plus, the burgers had more onions than meat in them - could barely eat it. Meanwhile, other people around me apparently in the know of the other menu had tasty looking dishes that I wish I could have had. I asked the hostess why we hadn't seen those options and she told me about the "full menu" that's by request only and shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes when I asked why people aren't told about it. I would have expected perhaps "sorry you didn't know, maybe next time you can ask for it?" I guess they're not looking to have customers come back. I've been here twice now and have had a good cross-section of their offerings. First off, the service is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is big, clean and well-kept. There is the standard, abbreviated menu but there is also their diner-style menu with many pages and more choices, as well as the kids menu. So if you don't see anything on the one-pager menu they initially bring, as for the full menu. Drink selection is good, as they have kept and expanded the bar from the previous 5-napkin burger restaurant that used to be here. Good beers on tap. The croquette appetizer was excellent, perfectly fried and delicious. Not sure if they'll have it again since they didn't have it on our second visit. Chicken bites appetizer was good, but basically just small chicken tenders with some dipping sauces. Lemon-ricotta pasta is excellent. Fresh-made pasta, cooked al-dente with a creamy sauce. Would definitely get again. Lamb burger was very good. Fries are excellent. Chicken Sa-taar (or some facsimile) was ok, but wouldn't get again. Comes with a sesame seed crust and a picked slaw & tomato side and humus. Souvlaki platter was excellent. Fresh pita, great flavor chicken cooked tender. Would get again. Burgers are big, can be made into two meals easily. Nothing extra-ordinary here but adequately prepared. Fries again are excellent. Oreo shake is recommended from the little one. The service was poor and the restaurant wasn't crowded. Food was mediocre and greasy and the steak quesadillas had more mushrooms/onions than steak. My experience at the 70th and 2nd green kitchen was nothing like what I have experienced at the other locations. The food was fine but the waiter was incredibly rude. While taking our order, he left our table two separate times to go elsewhere. I had asked for something additional on my salad which didn't come, but was on the check. When we pointed this out to him (he had no idea the item didn't come) asking him to remove it he claimed that he only charged us for 3 seltzers instead of 4, so the charge for the additional item can stay. He refused to edit the check even though mis charging us was his mistake, which was overall really strange and rude and definitely not how someone in the hospitality industry should treat their customers.
