There's frequently a wait for tables, but they give you a beeper so you can browse the many diverting nearby stores until a table is available. We were seated at the soda fountain and waited an astounding 23 minutes for the fountain attendee to ask if we had ordered, server nowhere to be seen. When I made attempts at banter I was ignored. But after switching to gluten free and having a better quality of life and not being able to take the chance of having gluten again, I had to send my sandwich back because I forgot to order it gluten free. Would never eat here again. 1st time and last time. We choose to spend a day in Poulsbo shopping with family we meet at this restaurant. We were seated promptly and they were very attentive asking several times if we were ready to order and that's was the end of the attention. 2 people in our group didnt get drinks. We didnt get any silverware. Our food came at a reasonable timeframenfeom when we ordered however the food was all cold. Hamburger was raw in the middle, Cod Fish in chips were very bland, soup was cold, waffles with scrambled eggs cold. Spaghetti and meatballs were hard and cold. We complained about several items and was t ok old by the waitress, "Sorry I got busy and I guess it all Sat in the window too long!" The restaurant was only half full and had 2 waitresses working??? Most of us did not finish our food cause it was as other said Mediocre at best and very improperly cooked. The inside is adorable and cute and this could be a great restaurant if the food was better. Seems like everything comes frozen and they just warm it up. Does not feel like they make any fresh. This food was really good. I had the biscuits and gravy combo, and they were nice enough to let me substitute hash browns in for the meat option. Everything was great. There was a flavor in the sausage gravy that surprised me. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it took me a few bites to get used to it. The hash browns were some of the best I've had in a long time. We stopped in Monday for breakfast as we were staying at the casino nearby. Turns out it's a like a 50s style diner. I love the 50s music they play. I bet the waitresses don't like it as much lol. It was very drafty and I forgot my coat. We started by ordering the little Viking meal for my toddler. Eggs with ham, a biscuit and hash browns. I ordered the miga scramble I think it was called. That was the best southwestern breakfast I've ever ordered. It was a nice egg/ chorizo mix over some very well seasoned potatoes. Topped with Salsa sour cream and avocado. Okay so two of us walk in and we have a party of 4. But the hostess didn't even ask how many we had she just grabbed two menus and threw us in the cold ass corner of the restaurant. Then we ask if we can move tables and the dude (who is by far their best worker) says "yes after a table clears up." So the table clears up and we ask and the girl who gave us the bad table says we aren't allowed to move so. That kinda sucked that we were freezing the whole time. Food was badass. I came here for the first time and had breakfast this morning. It felt like a welcoming and comfortable environment right away and someone seated us. They were very friendly and quick with getting or drink orders, and then our food orders. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast which was delicious, of course. I felt that the meat had a slightly different taste than a typical chicken fried steak, but in a good way. It was maybe a bit more flavorful than what you'd get at most places. I'm not sure what was done differently but I liked it. This breakfast comes with toast and hash browns or potatoes, but I substituted a pancake instead. The pancake was above average! Really tasty and flavorful. I think the portion sizes were nice and prices were definitely decent. The only thing I feel could be slightly improved is the type of coffee they serve. I'll definitely be back to try more, and I'll update once I've got any further opinions on this diner! An overall pleasant experience. read more

This evening was the last straw. We spend our summers in Poulsbo thus we get to eat out a bit. Over the last few years, the only thing we order is Fish and Chips - Halibut to go. Three things went amiss. 1 order was placed and misread by kitchen staff - had to wait for second order to be prepared, 2 this order comes with coleslaw - neither order had any, 3 the "halibut" was not whole fish but rather what I would call sweepings - just enough for some flavor but not as much as the breading. Very disappointing after having spent over $30.00. It is the Loft next time - or even McDonalds! read more

Just read about the new diner on Twitter and we were so excited we couldn't wait to try it! We should have... With so many restaurants out there, I take my Yelp reviews seriously. I like to provide the best possible information for diners to make a choice on where to eat. The best I can do here is two stars and here are the reasons why (from start to finish). Greeting: Non-existent! There was a hostess but she just said "Only two? Booth or table?" I don't consider that a "greeting". She wasn't happy to see us, she could care less that we chose to dine here and not somewhere else, she didn't even say "Good morning" - yeah, not a greeting at all. Then, she put the silverware from the extra table settings into the water glasses as she cleared them... hoping those glasses are then washed! (Oh, please smell the inside of your water glasses - something's really wrong!) Service: Our server didn't do much better considering she was training somebody! She just stepped up and asked if we wanted a beverage - no introduction of herself or her trainee, no suggestions of particular beverages, and sadly, no smile. There were only 4 tables with diners so it definitely wasn't too busy for some good old fashioned diner service. On a positive note (first reason for 2 stars), the staff was attentive, filling water and coffee regularly and clearing plates in a timely manner - still no smile though! Food: Yikes! We were there for breakfast and in my opinion (that's what this is), eggs are one of the most important staples to be cooked perfectly. I asked for over easy eggs - I got eggs cooked longer than over medium! Almost to the "hard boiled" stage. My husbands were the same way and he got poached eggs. Pancake is just a plain ol' nothing fancy pancake and $1.00 for the Maple Bacon Butter is definitely not worth it!! On a positive note (second reason for the 2 stars), the corned beef hash is great with plenty of corned beef! Don't bother with the Eggs Benedict, pretty bland Bearnaise instead of Hollandaise. Coffee is beyond strong (couldn't drink it) and is $3.00 per cup - holy cow! Sadly, it's definitely not the "upscale" diner promised in the local newspaper article. read more

Sweet & cute little diner right in downtown Poulsbo! We were in town for the weekend and swung in here Sunday morning to grab an early breakfast before heading to the ferry back to Seattle. We were seated right away (we arrived around 9am) at a nice counter table in the front window. The decor in here is stereotypical diner in the best way! Vinyl booths, playing cards on each table, and booklets about different decades. The food was delicious! I had the pancake/farmer's breakfast combo (pancakes! eggs! potatoes! bacon!) and was very pleased. My boyfriend had a make-your-own-omelette and there wasn't a scrap left on his plate at the end. We stopped in Poulsbo on our way back to Portland after visiting Port Townsend. Poulsbo was quaint and worth the stop especially as it sits on the water. We went to Green Light for brunch. The diner is cute with the 50's decor and appeared to be clean. We sat outside with our small dog. The best customer service we received was the hostess kindly bringing our dog a treat. The waitress got my drink order wrong. After hesitantly requesting to have her take away the drink and bring me something different it took roughly 15min. to receive a drink. All customer service continued to be disappointing for the rest of our dining experience. The food took 30-40min. to come and we had to request utensils (the table next to has had a similar experience & had to get up and request utensils following receiving their food before it got cold.) We both ordered huevos rancheros which was supposed to include avocado, but didn't. We knew better than to ask for avocado at this point. Had to ask the hostess for our check as our waitress never returned after placing our order. Our bill still had my returned drink included. Again it took a long time for their staff to fix our bill. Unfortunately the l-o-n-g visit at The Green Light Diner didn't allow us to spend more time in Poulsbo and made us want to get out of town and move on from this experience. The food was ok. I'm sharing our incredibly horrific customer service experience to save others time. Go elsewhere. I'd also hope that the management sees this review and puts effort into better training their staff. read more

The fries are crispy, and the fish and chips are great. The first time I had the crabcakes and they are worth the trip. It's a 50s style diner with oldies music playing. We were there last Friday night for dinner during their opening week. The place looked fantastic! The bright red booths, colorful checkered floor and syrup flavors on display behind the bar create the perfect diner feel. I was stoked to find out that they serve breakfast all day, and ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict which was fresh in flavor and wild caught. My husband got the Alaskan Ale Battered Cod which he ate so quickly that I didn't get a taste, though I helped myself to his generous portion of Garlic Parmesan Fries (an upgrade from normal fries and probably the best dollar you'll spend there). We finished things off with a classic banana split. It looked so pretty when it was served to us that I had to take a picture!! Absolutely love this Diner. We come all the way from Seattle just to enjoy their Stroganoff made from scratch or their daily soups. The ambiance is awesome and customer service is amazing. Everything I've ever had on the menu including breakfast is amazing. You can tell they put love in the meals and pride themselves on customer service. Oh word to the wise careful what size float you order..you will need a nap as they do not skimp on portions. Worth the ferry ride and just 15 min drive from Bainbridge. Love this place! As a Seattleite, I generally only get to Poulsbo once or twice a year, and always try to fit in a meal at this diner. I was just there September 28, 2020; We got lucky and it was a sunny day. So we were able to sit outside and enjoy looking at the goings-on of Front Street, as well as the water view. Staff was masked, and the tables were distanced. Our server, Janice, was very friendly & attentive. As usual, the food was excellent! My chicken fried steak with the diced red potatoes was yummy, although slightly more spicy than I was expecting. My husband devoured his salad & chili dog - I tasted the chili & it too was delicious. We didn't have room for shakes or sundaes, but we've had them there many times & they rock! - By the way, the interior is spacious and there are lots of tables and booths, so going forward as the weather cools, don't hesitate to go in and dine inside. They are doing everything necessary to protect everyone's health. And the decor is super fun! A friend and I went to just shop around the area on New Years Day and the Green Light Diner was smart to be open on the surprisingly sunny gorgeous day. We left our names since there was a short 35 minute wait then came back in about 20 and were seated within minutes. The menu was awesome for anyone to find a host of everything from Breakfast to a great selection for everyone's taste & budget. We sat for near 15 mins just trying to decide because it all sounded delicious. OH! and it was, the food was served promptly with a delightful smiling staff. My friend & I volunteered to change tables when a large party came in and the staff was so very appreciative.
