The menu options kept in theme, offering traditional, simple American dishes. The burger I ordered was delicious, as was the root beer float. The service was a little slow, however it was a busy Saturday during the rush lunch hour. But we LOVED playing cards with the deck or cards provided at each table, during our wait! Solid 4 stars for this little diner. The decor is super cute especially in the bathrooms. I'm a sucker for old 50's paraphernalia. I also happen to love that each coffee cup and plate is different than the other. Bonus points for my sweet Dexter mug (pictured). The food was good. Benedict was cooked well but the pancakes fell flat (pun intended) and the hash browns were really overdone. Would definitely visit again. Recently heard about this place and decided to try it out on a date night with my wife. LOVE the location and the building - downtown Poulsbo is always fun! The staff were really friendly and checked in on us several times to ensure that we were being well taken care of. She knew the menu well enough to make some positive recommendations for newcomers. I was excited when the waitress recommended the Rueben; for whatever reason, it seems to have fallen out of fashion lately and I've been craving one for a couple of months but have been unable to find one anywhere. The turn time off the line was good and the food was piping hot when it came out, so it certainly didn't waste time sitting in the pass. Thankfully, my Rueben didn't disappoint and the fries were nice and crispy. My wife indicated that she thought that her burger patty was from frozen rather than fresh, which would be disappointing. Food has always been good. Yesterday we stopped by to eat about 3:30. We walked in and were told, rather rudely, "We're closed". The website showed being open until 6 pm, as did the sign on the door. I understand that things change quickly in this time of COVID; however, I don't think putting a sign on the door to let people know you are in closing early is too much to ask. Servers were very polite, friendly only real problem I have is that the bar seats are right next to their cashier, which makes me a little uncomfortable eating right next to someone printing receipts and all, but they are very nice so it doesn't bother me as much. read more

If you have family in town or want to go have some delicious food by the water, Green light diner is the place! Breakfast I suggest the corned beef hash or chicken and waffles that have maple bacon butter on it! The corned beef hash is made in house with an AMAZING tarragon bernaise sauce! Disappointing overall experience. When we walked in we were told there would be a 30-35 minute wait even though the restaurant was about 25% seated. When we came back the couple who walked in with us was seated immediately and we still waited. We had to ask for utensils, straws, and the one refill which finally came after we were done eating. The staff simply couldn't be bothered and generally didn't care. The only thing that was timely was the check. The food was good which is the only reason for the second star. There are probably ten other places within an eighth of a mile you're better off trying. read more

I had breakfast here last weekend. It was good. I had the traditional eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and orange juice. Everything was prepared pretty close to my requests. My friend had the hangtown fry, which is a breakfast scramble that features local fried oysters. He said it was a bit greasy. Parking in Poulsbo is often a challenge but a short drive up the hill to the north offers lots of parking. I recommend the place. read more

I've only ever had breakfast here, so be forewarned. That being said, this is probably the best place to get breakfast in Kitsap County. I mean this sincerely. I recommend the Benedict's. We used to have a place in East Bremerton called Pat's Cookie Jar. It had great Benedict's. The Green Light is actually better than Pat's was. It has about three Benedict's, and all of them are wonderful. The decor is cute and kitschy, but in a good way. They sell some sundries, such as novelty birth year cards. The music is usually from the 50's and 60's. My only complaint is the wait time. It's a small place with limited staff. Still, I'd rather have a slow, wonderful breakfast than a quick awful one. read more

Went in today 11 Oct at approx 1100. Asked for a booth I was told it was a 20 minute wait. Tables open toward the back no one waiting. I opted for the bar another gentlemen was just seated at the bar. Young fella waitress took my drink order then took the other guys order and began a conversation with him. Completely ignored me after waiting 15 minutes I left. Guess you have to be young and good looking to get waited on. So much for respect for Senior Citizens. We brought our daughter there for breakfast (FRIDAY) for her 18th Birthday. Your staff was kind enough to provide her with a great shake and Birthday candle. We really loved the place AND the food. I will tell you that your sausage gravy is the best in the county bar none! Also the deck of cards on the table was a very nice touch. It really shows that you support community and family. My family has been visiting The Green Light Diner (formerly Mor Mors) since 2002, and we absolutely love their food, fun décor, and staff! I now get my husband to take me to every few months even though we now live in North Bend. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Even ever since they switched to The Green Light Diner (same owners), there are just more options to love with the same old favorites! My husband and I went last night for dinner and we had a little bit of everything. Their chocolate shakes are thick and made with real ice cream. (I'm dying to go back and try their apple pie shake!) We had clam chowder to start. The flavor is delicious and there are generous amounts of meat and potatoes in it. The owner even made something off the menu for me that I have been craving for months!!! I'm getting hungry all over again just thinking about it. For dinner my husband had the Salmon Primavera and I had their fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I tried some of the salmon, even though it's not my favorite food, and LOVED how it paired with the pesto sauce. Fortunately we ordered so much I will have leftovers today! The Green Light Diner is a great choice for a family meal or even an intimate date. I love the family photos, and trivia they have on the walls. There is even a deck of playing cards at each table! Great place for a quality breakfast at a decent price. Food and service were good, although the place is a bit noisy.

My son and I stopped in for a meal after a long day of fishing. They serve breakfast all day and my son capitalized with the Hungry Viking. He loved it! I tried a couple of bites and was really impressed, especially with the bacon, thick and cooked to perfection. I went with the French Dip and upgraded to the garlic parmesan fries. The meat was cooked perfectly, bread was excellent and the dip simply set it off. As far as the fries, all I can say is if you eat here and don't upgrade to garlic fries you are totally missing out! The menu is huge, looking forward to the next time we are in Poulsbo so we can try out more items! The Green Light Diner is the perfect diner for Poulsbo. read more

REALLY wanted to like this place because we love Poulsbo, but not overly pleased with our experience here today. The young girl that seated us and took our drink order was sweet and fast. Then we waited a while to have our order taken, then we waited a LONG while for the food to come. The waitress was missing for most of our meal and the few times she came by she didn't even stop long enough for us to get in a word. The food was a mix. The ribs were great, but the bacon was limp and undercooked, the avocado unripe, the hash-browns soggy and the cheese pungent. Sadly we won't be coming back. read more

Sadly we had high hopes for this place. When we arrived there was no wait. There was 2 other full tables and three waitresses in the area. We where seated and given our menus. After a bit water was brought to us and then we had to wait for our server to come take our order. By this time there was only one other table with 3 people at it. We placed our orders and then waited. We basically waited for about 30 minutes just for our food and with no servers checking up on us. By this time we are the only table in the restaurant and our food took 30 minutes. Makes no sense :/ .. once our food was delivered there was no apology for the wait and we asked for extra tarter sauce and they never brought it to us and never came back to check on us. The food was probably some of the worst I have ever had. It was a bit cold, so not sure how long it sat for waiting to be picked up, it was way oily, the coleslaw was warm and tasted like it sat for along time outside of the fridge. My friend ended up getting sick shortly after eating there. We will not be returning, with bad service and bad food it's not worth the money or time. read more

This is a fun place, especially if you remember the 50s :) If you stick to traditional diner food you'll probably be OK, but we got excited about being able to get local oysters and ordered our breakfasts accordingly. The breading was so dense they were difficult to chew, and I had several small pieces that were almost all breading - very disappointing. The rest of the Hangtown Fry was excellent though, including the hash browns. My eggs (in Oysters and Eggs) were poached perfectly soft, but as almost every inexpensive restaurant does, they were sitting in a pool of water that i soaked up with napkins. I wish these places would drain them! Our service was excellent, so I would go back, just not order oysters. Be sure to check out the pamphlet on the table that has a lot of fun things about a certain year - like 1952. It takes you right back, and you can buy them up front, though they didn't have every year. read more

We decided to try somewhere new this morning and are SO glad that e did! We now have a new favorite local breakfast place! My husband had the special and I had Benedict Florentine, both were amazingly good. Service was spectacular - friendly, helpful with suggestions and quick. The coffee had great flavor but could have been a bit hotter - my only complaint on an otherwise wonderful meal!! I didn't mention it to the waiter but I'm sure they would have fixed me up if I had. We will definitely be back - there are so many great breakfast offers (and lunch!) that we have to come back to try them all! Great for breakfast on the weekends. Fifties-style atmosphere with good service and bountiful breakfast selection. Serving sizes are ample, and the food comes out quick and hot. The food here is hit and miss but the service is great. Great for families with children. Children get crayons and a coloring menu AND a pack of fruit gummies. I think that is a nice touch, not to mention a kid friendly menu. Not impressed with the pancakes but their sandwiches were pretty good, especially the po'boy. The clam chowder was touted to be very good, unfortunately it was not. Textutely the chowder was more soup than chowder, too much bacon so the smokiness overpowered what clam chowder should be. We had our 2 year old on foot, and our 3 month old in the stroller. This was a little challenge for us as we couldn't figure out how to get into the restaurant with a stroller. There's a couple of short sets of steps up to the main entrance, and what looks like a ramp to a side entrance, but as far as I could tell, the doors it seems to lead to were blocked by tables both in and outside. There is probably some other way in and we just aren't in the know. My husband and I are both healthy enough to lug a big stroller up so we headed on in and waited to be seated. It wasn't very busy, considering it was late morning (just before the lunch rush I'd imagine), but they were adequately staffed. We waited less than a minute to be seated by a very friendly waitress (server? I never know what to call anyone anymore), who offered us different seating options given our little group. We sat down and she presented our 2 year old with what looked sort of like a rolled treasure map tied with twine. It had crayons and fruit snacks wrapped inside. When she brought our waters she also brought a cute little covered cup of water to our son as well. He was getting a little antsy, but she was ready with a bucket of age appropriate toys to keep him occupied. At the table they have a napkin dispenser & a deck of playing cards. We didn't wait long for our food and everything was exactly what we ordered. My husband had a burger and fries. He said the burger was good, and the fries were excellent, but everything was a little greasy for him. I had an egg white omelet with pepperjack cheese & tomatoes with hash browns on the side. The taste was okay, and the cook was right, but everything was just too greasy. It all tasted very buttery (which I'm sure a lot of people appreciate, just not me) and the eggs were kind of just laying in a puddle of oil/butter. I'm not sure that we'll return, unless out of convenience. I really enjoy walking around Poulsbo, and this place is pretty kid friendly, which would be the only reason I'd come here again. read more
