So I've lived nearby for longer than this place has been around... and the first few times, I gotta be honest, were poor experiences. I try not to slam businesses unless it's an egregious offense... so I never left a negative review because they were new. I believe all restaurants deserve a second and sometime third chances. This place proved me right! The food was really, really good. I'd say the best Mediterranean food in Downey, for sure. It's takeout primarily, so you know... but this time I had the grape leaves and the gyros plate and they were both delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely give them a shot. read more

Green Olive is always a hit but we know that we have to order way ahead of time because it always takes long for the food to come out, no matter how busy they are. It is pretty pricey but there aren't any other options for Mediterranean food in Downey. My go to is the chicken kabob or the chicken shawarma (both plate or wrap). Their pita bread and garlic sauce is amazing. I love their spicy potatoes and spicy green sauce. Their food is super flavorful and delicious. Just set aside 30 mins to get your order, longer if it's busy! Plenty of free parking available in the lot. read more

I used to be a huge fan of this place. Today 6/27/21, the food has officially changed (and not for the better). The hummus was watered down. Their green sauce was watered down. The rice was not the same. Even their packaging changed from black to white. The positives: their filet mignon was still tender and tasty. Been to this location before, since my wife loves their food. Unfortunately, today My experience with the food, was not the best. I had a Lamb Kabob wrap, which meat was fatty tuff to chew. I usually get the lamb kabob plates and the meat has been soft and easy to chew, right on point. It is my guess that they use lower quality meat for the wraps, given the there's a 7 dollar difference between the plates. In addition, the food was cold, which explains why the pita bread wrap was also tuff and chewy. I guess i'll stick to the plates next time if we ever go back. read more

Terrible experience! I had heard great things about this restaurant. Spoke to the Manager to place a catering order for my fathers 83rd birthday. When it came time for me to pick up, I paid and provided a generous tip only to find all the food was placed in to go containers which is absolutely inappropriate for hosting a large gathering. I purchased extra pita bread and they just handed me cold pita bread in the original package. I was absolutely shocked. When I asked to speak to the Manager, she mentioned I did not pay the extra $$ for catering. I was at a loss ... I had ordered via catering and this was never mentioned once to me. How is a customer supposed to know that there is a fee if it is never mentioned during the order? I was then provided the number to Sam the owner by the manager on duty which turned out to be a fax number. 4/3 Update - I do want to comment that I received a call from the Manager, Carlos who apologized profusely for my experience. Holy Kabob! This place is delicious. The food was absolutely amazing. My shrimp and Filet mignon platter never had a chance. The pot served was perfect, I left feeling satisfied. I was scraping my plate. My daughter who joined me is known to be the pickiest eater and she loved the food. I don't have much to say, lost for words due to my mouth still watering. My review is mainly for the service, not the food. The food was great, but service was absolutely terrible. Terrible enough to make our experience bad overall. First of all, we very clearly stated what we wanted in our order when standing at the cash register. And we had these items REPEATED back to us. Not only did our food come out significantly later than two parties that ordered AFTER us, but it came without the two items we really wanted. We ended up asking where the other two items were and were told that they were on their way. We continued to wait another 10-15 minutes (our food was getting cold) until we decided to ask again. The cashier brought my receipt and said we never ordered those items. They were initially repeated back to me when we ordered them, so I'm lost as to where the miscommunication was. Anyway, turns out we also got charged $1 for swapping filet mignon with gyro. How do I get charged for downgrading?! I was told I could swap without any issues? So finally we decided to buy one of the sides which we really wanted to have with our food and waited another 5 minutes for that to come out. Overall, we were very misled and I'm still not understanding why we ordered before two other parties, yet were served significantly later. This was just not a good experience for us. We spent more time watching everyone else be served, waiting for our dishes, and trying to flag down employees, than we did actually eating. read more

Not sure what happened but the food quality and service has gone down while the price has increased. Ordered the beef Kebab wrap and it was soaked in sauce that made it inedible. I couldn't even taste the beef or the pita bread. And don't get me started on the burnt chicken that had no flavor. First time at this location & come with the kids. We ordered the Kabob Family Feast. It looked like a good value versus buying 4 plates. We asked if we could swap out the spicy potatos for Geta Potatos, and they happily obliged. Everything was made to order and tasted very fresh. The hummus was amazing. Creamy, savory, and a perfect accompaniment with everything served. The gyro and chicken were a hit with the kids. The beef, shrimp, and kafta were also terrific. Everything cooked exactly to order. The salad was a hit between my wife and I. The dressing is lemony and really works well with the cucumbers and tomatoes. The feast came with 6 whole pita breads served hot and steamy. It was actually more than we could eat! All 4 of us ate, and there was almost a full plate of leftovers to enjoy another day. Be sure to ask for plates if you order the feast as it wasn't automatically brought to us, although they knew we were eating in restaurant. This is solely based on their customer service... it has definitely gone down the drain. Whenever I call to place a "to go" order, the people who answer the phone always say "hold on, thank you" and immediately put you on hold without even allowing you to reply first. It's very RUDE! At least allow your customers to acknowledge the fact that they heard you and that they are being placed on hold! When they return to the line they're talking so fast you can barely understand them because they're just trying to get you off the phone. I understand that you are busy, but that doesn't justify or excuse rushing people and treating them disrespectfully. Another girl was rude enough to ask me "how many more pita breads do you want?" Just because I asked for extra. They charge you for the extra pack, so why does it matter to you if I want 1 or 5 more!?! It's my money and you are receiving it. Is there a shortage of pita bread that I'm unaware of? Anyways, after placing the order, the girl asked my name and since my name is not common, I tried to spell it to her and she just ignored me and asked my number, cutting me off.... Because of this, when my husband arrives, they keep telling him that I haven't placed an order and it's because they just write any name down since they aren't patient enough to listen how I spelled my name because they simply don't care.
