When I received my 're-order' (yes GRUBHUB refunded the loss) I received a "sweet slice" of a message from Greenhouse hoping it would make the experience of loss better from this evening. Wasn't even Greenhouse's error yet they value their customer experience enough to go the extra acknowledging mile. So appreciated! I went to this restaurant when they were in Valencia several years ago and was always pleased with their food. I wife and I happen to be in Lancaster and ordered some food to be delivered from this location. It was amazing but the order was exactly correct! I couldn't believe it, that just doesn't happen anymore. We ordered a tuna sandwich, Thai pasta, a beef dip sandwich and a Asian chicken salad, as well as some chicken soup. My chicken focaccia sandwich was nearly inedible, the chicken having not been seasoned at all, and the rest being a soggy mess. THIRTY MINUTES! I wait 30 minutes for a to-go order and watch as larger orders both to-go and eat-in orders get taken after me and delivered before me. All of them acknowledged, several by name. Meanwhile, I get ignored until my name gets called by the cook to come pick up my order. No "thank you." No "have a nice evening." Just, "this bag and this bag." So glad I left a tip. We order from them a few times a month. Our last order was a couple days ago and I wanted to leave them a new review. We ordered last Sunday late afternoon. We ordered the Cajun Chicken Salad, the Pasta Primavera with Angel Hair and for the first time a Southwest Chicken Wrap and a Beef Dip sandwich. The food was all perfection. The Wrap was absolutely delicious! We will be ordering that again for sure. Greenhouse always gets our orders correct and prepared perfectly. Today was the second time that I ever went to Greenhouse Cafe. The Decour inside is very dated and it isn't somewhere that you would go for a date or with friends. But they have a good salad. I am pescatarian, so I don't eat pork, beef, or chicken. So I ordered the Cobb salad today with no bacon and substitute chicken for shrimp. I picked up my to go order and the shrimp for out of the to go box rolling around in the bottom of the to go bag. I went back inside and was grossed out. The kid that was at the front counter said he would re-Bagget. I told him I need new shrimp cooked because that's disgusting. So they gave me the new salad but a new kid was at the front and asked if I ordered the Mandarin chicken salad. I said no I ordered two Cobb salads, one of them with shrimp and no bacon. He handed me the bag and when I got to my car, it opened it. The salad with no chicken and no bacon had both chicken and bacon and shrimp. I went back in, and there was a new person at the counter, a young lady. She asked the chef to pick the chicken off and leave the shrimp. I told her I needed a new salad made. I don't eat pork and I don't eat chicken. I will never return to Greenhouse Cafe their service was terrible. No one was apologetic. I tipped them well and no one seem to care that they messed up my order three different times $35 for two salads is a lot of money and they do not care whether they give you the wrong food read more

So I'm starting my review with 1 star without even tasting or seeing the food yet. We just ordered and we're "waived" up to the cash register to place our order. No "next customer" or "what can I get for you" just a hand gesture to go up to the register. Then she asked if I wanted to leave a tip on my card and I said "excuse me" because I didn't understand her. She then said a TIP, T.I.P. And spelled it out as if I didn't know English. I booked their banquet room for my sisters bridal shower back in April and I have to say that I was incredibly pleased with the staff, the food and the venue. I had up until a couple days before the shower to let them know the number of guest attending as well as the food I wanted. They let us set up the tables just like we wanted them , since we were the only ones using the room that day we had more than enough time to decorate the room to our liking. The food was good but the service was horrible. I ordered my food, and then waited and waited. Others, came and got their food as my friend and I still waited. I tried to find out what was going on and every time I tried to speak, I was interrupted and told by this male server that he had just come in so he doesn't know why it's taking so long. When I finally got the food, I didn't receive all of it. I had to ask for my soup. This server was totally rude, would not answer my questions and totally inattentive to me. Came here with my mom, she picked this spot because it said made fresh. It was not. We got the Alfredo with angel hair, and the French duo with chicken gumbo. First off, the Alfredo sauce isn't Alfredo, it's more of a creamy garlic sauce. The bread for the for the French dip got soggy after one dip, the meat was just like sandwich meat and wasn't even completely warm, and the dip just tasted like a powdered mix. The chicken gumbo was the soup of the day, but it tasted like canned soup. The lemon that came with the iced tea was dried out and browning like it was left out, and not fresh. The orange slice that came on the plate with the French dip was also dried out, there was also a pineapple slice, which just seemed irrelevant to the plate. read more

Many times in my past orders at this restaurant, we're all happy and satisfied so I recommended this restaurant and everyone at the office sent me to place the order the day before. The lady who helped me was very nice and took my order cheerfully as she went over them with me to make sure of each items that should be included. Butter and 3 loaves of bread, she said, it comes with. Today, when I picked it up, I noticed only one loaf of bread so I mentioned that I was told there will be three loaves of bread included in my order. The lady helping me today came back with another loaf of bread, so I said it again that I was told I would get three. "How much bread could you use?!?!", the lady asked me. I said I'm going by what I was told. I never felt so bad and embarrassed, so I let it go. At lunch in the office, everyone was looking for butter, but none to be found- that was just totally another yet more embarrassing moment for me. I was so mad about it and I wanted to call and complain, but I realized it won't do any good, nor would I have the time to drive back and pick up and back to the office... people would be done eating besides the damage has been done. I do not want anything back, but I want you to know that I always tip well. But I now realize that you could care less about that either. The quality's gone down a lot from when I was a little kid. My brother used to really like their spaghetti here. We always made sure to be clear about his food allergies because they usually add cheese. I guess they didn't one time. My brother ended up throwing up in the parking lot after telling my mom he felt sick from the food. I got the french onion soup after I got my wisdom teeth out. Filling and slightly yummier than canned versions. Lots of cheesy goodness though. Their mandarin chicken salad, I think that's what it's called, is pretty good. I usually ask for extra dressing. Oh what a sad visit this was. As a child, Greenhouse was one of my favorite places to go so visiting here recently was tragic and I think I can put my finger on it. This location has the feel of a business going under. You can tell when the staff is downtrodden, they are cutting corners on quality and the whole vibe of the place is sad. Like Eeyore with a constant gray cloud hanging over his head. It's very hard to enjoy your food in this atmosphere. When we came in, I order the chicken pasta, my absolute favorite greenhouse dish. It's the most delicious thing they (used to) have. My husband ordered the tri-tip sandwich. The person taking our order was not cheery or friendly but she did her job. She was not interested in personable conversation and just got our drinks and took our order. We sat down and the restaurant was about 35% full but it was also around 1:30 so that's kind of a late lunch. The advertisements on the table were excessive and outdated and that usually means people have stopped caring. There was a waiter cleaning a table next to us that completely ignored us the whole time even when my husband asked for a refill. The food came out fairly quick. My most beloved chicken dish was completely watered down! SO sad. What once was a rich pasta dish was now a runny soggy mess. I didn't even attempt to finish it. My husband's sandwich looked like Alpo to me but he enjoyed it. The pasta salad that came with it was ice cold. Not in the good way. Like ICE cold. I like this place. Nice and friendly staff. Typical diner fare- omelettes, french toast, pastas, and sandwiches. The service could be a bit better. We waited quite a while for our water to be refilled and to place our order. For breakfasts I usually go with omelettes. I judge the kitchen based on how good they make their omelet. It should be a fluffy marriage of eggs, lightly browned on the outside while slightly runny on the inside folded over tasty fillings. The best I've tried so far are the California (bacon, tomato, olives, cheddar, avocado and sour cream) and the Greenhouse (spinach, mushrooms, onions with cheddar and provolone). Both are well prepared with a nice ratio of fillings to eggs. When I'm not in the mood for breakfast, I get one of their good sandwiches. They have the turkey, gouda, aioli on ciabatta bread. Or I'd recommend the marinated cajun chicken breast on a croissant. Both very good and quite filling. They also have a quite a few pasta dishes which I can't vouch for, so proceed with caution. read more
