I've passed by this place a million times and never went inside, but today, I was invited there for lunch. It has outdoor seating now and it was actually quite lovely today. It's your typical deli style restaurant: club sandwiches and tuna sandwiches, with various kinds of bread. They have different kinds of salads there and lunch specials, too. I had them half of a ham sandwich in rye bread today with a small Caesar salad, and a cup of clam chowder. Reserved the room to the right of the counter to have my uncle's memorial service in. The room is calm, and nicely decorated. Ironically the day and time we chose was super busy in the restaurant, but everything still worked out perfectly. With the doors closed you could not hear the outside customers. The people who work here are very nice and the restaurant was clean. Unfortunately, other than that and "they have ample parking," I don't have anything good to say about my lunch there. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and my friend had the French dip sandwich. Both were kind of gross. The chicken in the salad was hard and dry, the edges of it had an orange translucent quality. The salad dressing was a super thick goop that came out of a bottle. The salad came with a piece of bread that had some shredded cheese tossed onto 1/2 of it. I love Greenhouse and have been a patron of both locations (when they had the one in the mall) for years and years. Food is consistently delicious and the service always kind. I'm finally writing this review because the service during our last visit was just excellent! I met two friends for a post holiday lunch on Friday and as always all the food came out hot and exactly as ordered. But the service was better than ever. Friendly ordering experience at the counter, and then they brought the food to our table they thought of extra little things, like a separate bowl for me to mix my salad in (they PACK your salad into a cute little bowl for the combo and it's easier to eat in a bigger bowl). Drinks were refilled multiple times as we sat and ate and chatted for a couple hours. We never felt rushed or unwelcome or forgotten. Bravo, Greenhouse! You have a great staff and everyone there that day was warm and kind and an asset to your business! Now for the food: I always do the combo with the tri tip sandwich and the chef salad. The chef isn't on the menu anymore but it's been around so long they will still make it for you. Their ranch is SO GOOD. And don't forget the side of toast. No "next customer" or "what can I get for you" just a hand gesture to go up to the register. When it does, though, this is the absolute best place to enjoy Cajun Chicken Pasta and the toasted bread that is served with it. We had our shower catered with a salad (large is not large enough), pasta (good size) and platter of sandwiches for 45 people. Definitely did not have enough food... we had to get 2 more platters of sandwiches. I wish I had been told that the buttered toast does not come done, I didn't have time to do it, so I now have 2 loaves of bread and a tub of butter sitting in my fridge. We ordered the Cajun Chicken Salad, the Pasta Primavera with Angel Hair and for the first time a Southwest Chicken Wrap and a Beef Dip sandwich. The food was all perfection. The Wrap was absolutely delicious! We will be ordering that again for sure. Greenhouse always gets our orders correct and prepared perfectly.
