The food here is okay, a bit on the salty side. However it can be quite pricy for the kind of material they offer. There were two of us and we only ordered one fish (which was so small, we couldnt believe we had finished it and kept digging) and 3-4 side dishes to be cooked with it (such as cabbage, rice cake which they only gave us around 8 pieces) an appetizer, and the price came out to be around $100! I felt we barely ate much thats worth the price. Everything cooked inside was cheap items such as mushroom, potatoes, and sea weed. And did i mention the amt of fish in it is negligible. You might as well go get a bowl of malatang. You probably will get equal amount of food for only $8.

It's not complicated, you pick your fish, you pick your sauce, you pick your toppings and then you eat! At Grill Master, they take one of four types of fish and grill them over an open fire and then place it into a pot with simmer sauce, ranging from your simple and savory to the hot mala burn your face off sauces. When simple things are done right, like cooking fish so the skin is crispy and charred on the edge but the meat inside stays moist, you can find nothing better except when you add some Sichuan sauce and enjoy that delicious burn. The food quality was very good. The lamb skewers were meaty, juicy and tender. I would advise not to get the Kobe beef, as the meat was too rough and chewy. I wouldn't ever think Kobe beef would be that chewy in texture. The pan fried mini bun was good and crispy, always a hit with the family. The reason why they don't get a full five stars is because the overall price isn't super high, but it isn't cheap either, their beef isn't what I would imagine to be Kobe beef, and the container that is used to carry the fish out, although it looks fancy and very visually appealing, the container isn't very deep and only provides a shallow layer of sauce. It was sufficient to keep the fish covered but it goes quick when you're eating. I still like it enough to go back because of the good quality of fish.

To me, if the fish is live or super fresh, the best way cooking to keep the freshness is steaming. I only grill or fry the fish when the material is not as fresh. So, I am not their fan at the beginning, but still went to this place once with some friends. The decoration inside is kind of luxury and their fish containers are fancy. We arrived for late lunch so the restaurant was not so crowded. The waiters were attentive, and the time waiting for our dishes to be served was reasonable except for the desert. We ordered 2 whole fish served with 4 flavors- 2 spicy and 2 non-spicy. I was OK with the 2 non-spicy flavors, but cannot appreciate them too much. And other 2 spicy fish dishes were just beyond my tolerance. Their most impressive entre to me was the rice scrambled with eggs. It was cooked well and super delicious. I should have given this place 3 and half star if I could.

My most favorite restaurant in flushing. This time i ordered the grill fish with two flavor, one spicy and one tomato based flavor. I would also recommend the bbq stick. If you visit flushing you should really come and try this restaurant!

One star for decoration and one star for the plating. We got striped bass in Sichuan sauce with some veggies, it tasted all like sour pickles and no spiciness. The fish was way too dry, service wasn't attentive but the place was very packed being that it's a weekend. The execution is ok bc the fancy golden platter they serve it on is nice but it was all swimming in a heap of oil (see pic) waitress was pretty rude when she realized she couldn't upsell us any apps or drinks , had to flag down waiters multiple times. for the price it honestly wasn't worth it esp since their neighbors are heavy hitters like Sichuan mountain house. I think a good rule with Yelp is to look at How many reviews are written by people with more than 5 reviews in order for it to be somewhat legit. Just food for thought

Came here on a Saturday for late dinner (around 8). ~15 min wait. They gave us complimentary appetizer - lightly pickled cabbage and edamame. I really enjoyed the cabbage. It tasted refreshing without being too sour. Since we didn't speak Chinese, the waitstaff struggled a little explaining to us the difference between the types of fish offered in English. We ended up getting two fish for our party of 5: barramundi with chilli spicy and quarry with black bean sauce, as we preferred that to paying $10 just so we can have 2 flavors for one fish. Both were good! We really enjoyed both our fish. Service was solid, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. It's a solid place that I'd come back to, if only it were closer. Tip: add flat noodles as a side dish! They soak up the sauces nicely and add a nice bite and texture.

One of the better grill fish establishments around the flushing area. Service on point~for now. Price can be high but with this interior decor i must say its pretty thought-out, not cheesy at all so the price justifys. I always wondered about rather any of them really actually GRILL their fish.but that aside, taste matters most. Here it starts off NOT salty, so thats a big plus. As it boils through time, the flavor hits you just right, not too spicy like some places you cant even breathe. Here you can also have 1 fish 2 ways which i love. Served in a dragon carved boiling steel platter is the highlight here. Best grill fish presentation in flushing so far. Nothing sticked or burned on the bottom, unbelieveable ! Will defintely return quick before this fire burns out.

The Hot or Chilli Spicy fish was excellent and you just have to be patient for a minimum of 20 mins for the fish to be well-cooked. Definitely willing to bring more friends come back and try different fishes and flavors.

I first had this type of grilled fish in 2019 in Beijing, China. It was one of my favorite casual foods to eat and it was very trendy during the time. I was very happy to see a restaurant offering the same type of food in Flushing. I came here with one other person and ordered the quarry fish with traditional sichuan broth plus potato, rice cake, crab stick, and soybean skin. The flavors were great and extremely authentic to what I tasted in China. Additionally, the portion size was just enough for two people. The only downside to this meal was the price, where it ended up being a little more than 60 dollars for the meal (before tip). If not for the price, this would definitely be a regular spot for me. I would definitely recommend eating the fish with a bowl of rice(its super saucy) and adding a lot of toppings/sides with the fish. Lastly, the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is extremely beautiful. The customer service was also top notch, the waiters kept refilling our water and checking on the flame under the fish.

Great restaurant with super considerate customer service!! We ordered the fresh pepper grilled fish because it was marked with a two-star spiciness. However it came out REAL spicy that my mouth was burning! The super nice/friendly waiter (Eric) noticed our struggling facial expressions and asked how we liked the fish. We told him that it was too spicy for us, perhaps as a result of the large amount of fresh pepper in the grill pan. Eric asked permission from the manager. They offered to grill another fish in s non-spicy sauce. I liked the fact that they care about the wellbeing of their customers! Would come back as a loyal customer. read more

What a fast and amazing meal! I said fast because from the moment we placed our orders and we had about maybe 2 mins to chat before all of the food came out. I highly recommend the fired fish. We went there on Labor Day and we were lucky that we were allowed to make a reservation on holiday. The fish is good. We picked two flavors(one is spicy and the other one is not), both taste good. We also ordered the celtuce, frog and tofu, all pretty good. Nice place. read more

This place is a bomb! Don't know why it only has three stars. Great environment, awesome service, and on top of that, amazing food. Exactly the same I had back in Beijing. If i could give 0 stars i would, this place is atrocious. The gish was so small and barely any meat, flavor was only ok. When the bill came it was marked as 50% off and when i gave my card to pay they ended up charging me full price for something that wasn't my fault. The management came and instead of offering a small discount they made it seem like I was in the wrong. Stay the hell away from this place, you would be better off eating literally anywhere else. read more

If you like grilled fish, this the place to be. The food taste great and the service is the tops. If you have any questions on how the dishes are prepared, they will happily explain it to you. Since this place is known for their grilled fish, the place is pricey but the other offerings such as their grilled meats are average price. They have a decent selections of meats and fish that you might need to visit the place more that a few times to try out. Right now they a promotion going on 10 percent off the bill for a limited time. If you want to try something new, now is the time to go and try. read more

I won't go there anymore! Grand opening with bad service? I just asked a lady the questions about the menu, she answered me impatiently I can feel that! The food are also not that good with the expensive price. We ordered the appetizer chicken but it's too raw inside for me. I can't have it. Extra charge for the white rice, approximately $2 for each small bowl. Cold rice is $10 each. It's not make sense for Chinese food. Too few of side dishes within the grilled fish. In the meantime, they gave us the wrong dish and wrong water. At the end, they gave us the wrong bill. One more thing, it's mandatory tip included in the bill. Before tips is around $144 and we paid $164 in total. The restaurant charged me $164.64, it's not about the 64cents. It's about CHEATING! Unfortunately we had a bad experience. read more

We are not going to come back again! We asked for recommendation, and the waiter recommended the most expensive fish that was not even on the menu. The chicken appetizer tastes awful. The dumpling tastes awful. I can find much better grill fish places in flushing read more

Waste of time...The attitude is toooo bad. We reserved a table for 7 at 7:30, and then we were told that we have to wait for ten minutes. After we wait for 30 minutes, they said even you booked the table you still need to wait. Terrible experience. read more

The food is super expensive and not special. Very disappointed. It is just like every other restaurant--when the chief is not great--make it super spicy because then you cant really taste how good the food is. We ordered a fish and it caused like $48-$49. The dish looks huge but the fish is super small and there is nothing else in it except the spicy peppers. You have order extra vegetables to add to the dish. And those extra you order they came in a small size as well. In addition We also order some other dish like barbecue lamb, is not as tasteful as the one in the street. The environment looks good. But not the really experience with the food. I wont recommend it. I usually eat nx door, and they are much better than this grill master. read more

The value is still somewhat there, but the food did not hit that nostalgic note I was looking for. I wanted to get the Fried Pork Chops (Chuletas De Cerdo Frita), but our server suggested the "juicier" Broiled Pork Chops (Chuletas De Credo Asada) instead. Sorry to report, if that's juicy, then how dry is the fried pork chops? I shutter at the thought. It was also under seasoned. I substituted the House Fried Rice for my side at an $4.50 additional fee. It was just okay and not worth the upgrade. Boneless Crispy Fried Chicken (Chicharron De Pollo) was also a disappointment. The batter was more hard than crispy, but the idea that boneless dark meat isn't more juicy simply tells me that the chef over fried the pieces. It came with Fried sweet plantains, which could have been a but more ripe but not bad. I'm not sure how I feel about the Beef Stew (Carne Guisada), which had relatively tender meat, but the sauce was so weak and lacked any real flavor. The black beans and white rice that came with it was decent. What might bring me back to this restaurant sooner rather than later was the Shrimp Egg Foo Young (foo Young Con Camarones). I felt that the eggs were cooked extremely well, but the star of the show was that delicious brown sauce full of umami. Having this over white or fried rice made this meal much more acceptable. I'm not sure when I'll have another craving for this type of food. If I do, I'll definitely get the egg foo young again. However, the other dishes were misses for me, so maybe I'll try the Fried Pork Chops and Shredded Beef in Tomato SayceRopa Vieja.

The service here is extremely friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I will likely return soon.

Went to this place on Friday night, this place seems fancy and it's like traditional Chinese restaurant. The service is damn good, they all friendly. I ordered a Barramundi which is boneless fish, I choose one fish in two flavors(Garlic oil and hot or chili spicy), the garlic oil is not spicy at all which is the waiter recommended. And the hot or chili spicy is the Sichuan spicy, if you like spicy that would be a good choice. They also have Chinese bbq and crawfish chili spicy crab etc. read more

I love their aged pickle sauce flavor. A little sour, a little spicy. It's great for person like me, love sour and spicy food, but cannot eat too spicy food. And after we finish the fish, we can add more other side dishes like veggies to it, we spend almost 2 hrs there. Eating and chatting, it is a nice experience.
