We came in Thursday for lunch at the bar about 1 pm they weren't too full at the bar. Our first time in, we live in the area. The bartenders took care of our drinks and the food was good, but they didn't clear our plates at all and I really hate that. That gave us a bad taste for being a regular but I will try y'all again but seriously I'm just hoping y'all will improve on that because #1 it's just proper etiquette to clear plates and ask how things were and that didn't happen. #2 just nice service especially for a new restaurant and to keep your clientele coming and becoming regulars. We have gone to the one in new Caney and the bartenders are not super friendly there either so maybe they're just not teaching that there which really shouldn't need to be taught. read more

Their staff, food and mixed drinks were excellent! We had awesome servers at the bar. They were friendly and funny! The place was nice, neat and very clean. Restrooms were stocked and clean. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star was their price. We had two entrees, a burger plate and fajita combo with three mixed drinks that added up to $97 before tip. We've eaten here a couple of times now and have nothing but experiences. We dine in really arriving before 5p so have never had any issue with a wait, and are always seated immediately. The happy hour specials on the cadillac margaritas have never disappointed and they never tasted watered down. I prefer white queso, but heir yellow queso is still tasty. The bangin shrimp tacos are a good balance of sweet and tangy with the slaw providing a c bit of a crunch to the tacos. The shrimp in the salad was well cooked and not fishy at all. The rewards club makes the experience even better as it pays for itself literally immediately. I am a true tex-mex fan, as many of the traditional Mexican food spices mess with my stomach. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here as well as the bites of my husbands food. The decor is fun and not too loud. Overall, I recommend getting there early and remembering to grab some free soft serve ice cream on your way out. read more

Gringos is my favorite TexMex restaurant. I normally go to the one in Cypress but was meeting a friend in Conroe. First the restaurant was very nice. Lots of natural light. I'm not sure how long it has been open but it seemed like it was recently as it had a new feel. The service was prompt, friendly, and excellent. The food was great as always. We both got the Bandera enchiladas. They have been the only thing I have ordered since they appeared on the menu. They are a special dish and are supposed to be gone from the menu soon. If you don't get a chance to try them before they are gone I'm sorry but they have plenty of other outstanding other options. The manager on duty dropped by the table to check on the food and service. This is typical of Gringos. The next time you are looking for TexMex give them a try (whether the Conroe location or another one in the area. read more

The Food at this chain is always good. Not my issue nor the reason for this review. Been going to Gringo's all over this part of Texas for well over 10 years. Never had a bad experience. Very excited when they made the choice to put one in near me, in Conroe. Decided to take my 79 year old mother out on her birthday week. Was looking forward to a nice time. Was I ever wrong. I just had the worst experience in well over 10 years in dealing with this chain. Terrible service. Looked to be a tip war going on as the young man who would eventually be forced upon my table was clearly taking it from another young lady. Might add here, the young lady's name was on the ticket. Also worth the mention that the you could clearly see them, it was quite obvious what had happened by the reaction of the young lady. Having worked in the industry before I wasn't shocked. It happens. What happened next, did. I politely asked, as we'd been seated close to ten minutes, if we could have chips if he was our server. He told me that it wasn't his job. EXCUSE ME? The experience just went down hill at an alarming rate at that point. One lady came out, explained she was the manager and then did absolutely nothing to address any complaint we might have had. She explained that the young lady was going on break so that was the reason for the change. Might have been an beliebalbe explanation be it not for the fact that as this "manager" was telling me this, the young lady was waiting on the table NEXT TO ME. Matter of fact, she was still waiting tables in my area when I was done. Is Gringo's making their employees word on breaks now??? You might be saying, well maybe this manager just doesn't have people skills (why is she a manager?), but I figured I'd have to write it off. Then, no one would come take our check so we could pay. We had to walk up to the front (my mother uses a cane) and beg them to let us pay so we could finally leave. Another woman came up and said she was the manager and asked what the issue was. So they have two managers on, at the same time in the middle of the week at a none peak time? Riiiigggght This one acted shocked and it was such bad acting I considered telling her to go back to acting class. She, after making us wait another ten minutes, issued a $15 dollar gift card. I don't mean to be ungrateful, but big deal. That wouldn't cover an appetizer at this establishment. It was pretty insulting to be honest. While I'm not sour over this chain at this point, this particular one won't be getting my business in the near future if at all. I understand things happen and as a reasonable adult, you must be able to understand that. Being treated like garbage and being lied to your face is something else. Horrible service, horrible place. Wife and I went last night (Friday). Place was packed. Really didn't mind the wait since it was nice out. Every staff member was very nice. Wife got the fried shrimp enchiladas and I got the seafood enchiladas. Both meals were very good. Wife loved her enchiladas. I enjoyed mine and we would definitely eat those again. I knocked one star off because in my opinion their drink prices are way too high. I can get three margaritas on a cruise ship cheaper than two here. read more

Whoaaaa!! Conroe finally has a Gringo's! I often visit their Katy spot, and I absolutely adore it. On our way back from Dallas, we stumbled upon this location, and naturally, we had to drop in for dinner and one of their fantastic Cadillac frozen daiquiris! My love for their traditional beef tacos remains strong, and, as expected, they were outstanding. The customer service was exceptional, as usual. We went to Gringos tonight. Was pretty busy because of it being a weekend. We were seated really quickly, no wait at all for a Saturday night! After being seated though it all went down hill rather quickly. We were asked by our hostess if we would like chips and dip and we said yes while we were browsing the menu. Chips and dip came out quick. After we decided on what we wanted (still have not seen our server) we waited for about another 5 minutes. When she finally came over she introduced herself as Kayla, asked what we would like to drink (sweet tea for both), she asked if we would like queso, yes we did. She walked away. She brought our drinks out after about 5 more minutes and said she was going to check on our queso. Did not ask about if we were ready to order even though we were no longer holding our menus. A different girl brought out our queso after about 10 minutes. A while later Kayla came back and took our order. (We are out of chips by then). She walks away before either of us could ask for more. I bought a young lady that was walking by and asked her for more chips. She brought them back rather quickly and slid them onto the table. (Husbands drink is empty now and Kayla is MIA). Finally another girl brings out our food and miraculously Kayla returned and literally shooed her away and rolled her eyes. My husband being pretty upset and really thirsty by then asked for a pitcher of tea. She brought him back 2 glasses of tea. After we were done eating he had to go and look for her so we could pay. I had to write this comment after I saw one of the hostesses at Gringo's being disrespected by an irate woman (customer) because she had to wait to be seated. The restaurant was very busy as usual, the woman became loud and downright rude to the young lady as she tried to calmly seat the woman. It's so sad that we (people) feel the need to verbally attack and abuse others as they work to provide us a service. What happened to "kindness, patience and respect? We called to put our name on the list, showed up and waited outside for an hour to be seated. Once seated we ordered drinks and waited for more sauces and chips to be brought to the table. We were a party of 7 wanting to try the newest spot in town. Unfortunately the entire party agreed that between the wait, the service and the foods overall taste and presentation, we would not be visiting again. I threw my leftovers away as soon as I got home and several hours later spend the remainder of the night hugging the toilet. I had the pollo con queso, yuck. We dropped in last week to try out the new location. We used to like the one in Spring, Off I-45, but the last time we went the food had gone downhill and service was mediocre at best. We had higher hopes for this one. The host was friendly enough as was the person who brought chips and salsa. The queso was good, but when they dropped the plates off, mine had old food stuck on it. I ask the waitress for a new one without being rude or anything. She took it and brought another without a sorry, you suck, or anything at all. When our food showed up-all looked good, but I had old ass food stuck on the bottom of my plate. I checked, it wasn't from my plate. That about disgusted me as much as a hair in a meatball I encountered once. The meatball actually swung on the hair. I didn't say anything and tried to eat my food-I did t want to ruin anyone else's meal. After we left, everyone said just okay. My wife's fajita meat, ordered medium, was rare at best. The waitress brought the check, without a word again. Dropped it off without a thank you, come again, how was everything, or even a don't come back. That dirty plates with food stuck on them and a waitress who literally didn't say a word are the reasons we won't be back. I'm so happy they built Gringo's in Conroe. They don't have a huge menu but that's ok with me. I always loved their Cheese Enchiladas and they didn't disappoint. Me and my mother visited Gringos tonight. We were very exited that a location was coming closer to us. While we expected a longer wait, We were sat within 10 minutes. Our service was amazing, our server Austin was very friendly, kind, and attentive. He asked questions and made sure we had a great experience. The food came in about 15 minutes. Everything was hot and fresh! Fajitas were very tender and flavorful, with plenty of toppings. One more shout out to Austin, He was great! I am really not sure why Gringos has 3.9 stars. I will have to go back and look at the reviews. That said my wife and I have frequently gone since they have opened and was even there the day they opened and we are also reward members. We have three kids and every time we go we don't spend any less than 100 bucks. We also always get queso and drinks. The food and the service has almost always been great, but if service failed we gave feedback and received a percentage off our meals. We also had a hair in our gauc on one of my plates and we received our meal 1/2 off. Managers are always accountable and fix issues very quickly. To be fair I grew up in Pasadena, Tx and have eaten at Gringos quite a bit. All that said the only complaint is I do wish they had outdoor seating. I do also love the atmosphere and hope that whatever the negative reviews are, they get better. No complaints from me though. read more

Went to celebrate my niece's birthday 4/11. I had the Pollo Marisco. After I had eaten half of it and went to go prepare my other half to eat with the tortillas, I noticed that the chicken was undercooked and not safe to eat. The manager Louis Cantu came out apologizing profusely after seeing the chicken. He said he "coached" the cooks, and comped my meal as well as sent me home with a to-go plate and a $25 gift card. That was not asked for by me and does not even come close to being okay to excuse serving somebody unsafe and undercooked foods. I did get sick starting around 3am the next morning and was sick for 2 1/2 days. I do not recommend this location and definitely think the cook staff needs to touch up on some extra food handling classes. People go to a restaurant to trust that they will be served safe food. I hope this is addressed appropriately and not just swept under the rug thinking a free meal & gift card is a justifiable way to handle this!!! I will never go back to this location again. read more
