We are regular clients at Gringo's we normally seat at the bar to have dinner & drinks where Sergio the Bartender give us Excellent Service, he is one of the main reasons we love dinning at Gringo's he makes us feel special by knowing exactly what we eat and drink. Sadly last Saturday April 17,2021, he was not working as a bartender but possibly as a barback, Service wasn't what we expected, our food was served without tortillas or silverware, bartender left us without drinks for the longest times got distracted talking to other people, for that reason we haven't been back to what it used to be our favorite weekend hangout. The to go service is really poor. I've waited 30 minutes in my car after arriving. They had 1 hour to make the order and it's still not ready to the point where I have to wait 30 more minutes in the car. We used to come here weekly but now the service has gotten really disappointing. No one on the to go side seems to care. read more

I called for a to-go order at 8:20 and was informed by the employee that answered the phone that they now close at 8:15p on weekends and 9:15p during the week. There's nothing really spectacular about the food, but it's decently priced and conveniently located, for me. I was addressed as "girlfriend" by the employee that answered the telephone (yikes!). Came back to Houston, from Denver, for a visit with family and friends. Took friends to Gringos for lunch. Have been eating at Gringos since the opened on the south side of town. Cypress location, took more than and hour to get our food. Manager argued on how long it took, bring ticket from the kitchen out saying it only took that it 20 minute, after server had already appologized for kitchen being behind. We had text from being seated. Had to ask for appetizers plates and silverware. Not in the habit of being argued with, over time, as it cannot be regained. Food and drink, as usual excellent! Worst f....g service and general attitude from management. Would give negative stars, but thats not an option. Guess Pappasitos will be the go to from here on out! read more

We ordered to go and waited to pick it up. They said it would take 20-30 minutes. We waited over 40 minutes! We get home and realize they not only messed up the order by giving us one of the wrong meals but they also forgot to give us tortillas,silverware and napkins. One of the meals we ordered was $18.99 and they charged me for two. But this was the $18.99 meal. Definitely not worth it. read more

I am shocked and so relieved to have found another Mexican restaurant in Texas that ISN'T strictly tex-mex gravy covered slop. Hooray! One can actually choose to order tex-mex gravy-ish entrees here...OR NOT...thank gawd! I LOVED the chicken enchiladas in GMK Amazon sauce...and hallelujah for shredded chicken...shredded chicken is how it should be done...always...no cubed chicken. I always say "shred it or forget it...cubed chicken has no place in an enchilada!"... and Gringos Mexican Kitchen gets it right! Ole! On a side note, I am NOT a fan of table salsa served piping hot because it was heated. I prefer my salsa room temperature, but the cold creamy cilantro salsa more than made up for the steamy, piping hot table salsa. The food is ok, but the ordering process for to-go was frustrating. I ordered through door dash and everything appeared to go through. While on the way to the restaurant, which is 20 minutes away, my order was apparently canceled, which according to door dash, was because the restaurant didn't respond. Once I arrived, I had to replace my order. No apology or any empathy at all for me driving all the way there to find my order cancelled. Waited another 20 minutes to get my food, and by the time I got home, it had been an hour. Now...to my order. I ordered two entrees and queso. Now, why would I receive one bag of chips and a tiny little cup of queso? Considering I paid nearly $30, I feel totally ripped off. read more

I love the food here! Always a yummy treat, especially if you get the frozen house marg! We love getting this delivered on the weekends for the whole family. When we ordered fajitas to be delivered, we did not receive our tortillas, what a bummer! I called and spoke with one of the managers, Josh, who wasn't able to do anything for me since I got delivery and not take out. It's always nice when you receive outstanding customer service to right a wrong, but that didn't happen this time. I recommend eating at the restaurant instead of ordering delivery. read more

Me and a friend went there for lunch on Wednesday. It has good ambiance but we waited about 4 minutes to be seated, as there was no one at the service podium. We got great service from our server, but the food? Not good. I used to love the food but it is tasteless, bland, absolutely no flavor. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with a bean chalupa, taco, and beans and rice. Almost all of the food had no flavor! The enchiladas were bland, the rice was dry and flavorless, the beans wee just ok, I've had much better. The Taco was just ok, and the chalupa had too much lettuce O it, so I could barely taste anything. I thought I was eating at La Maria Mexican Restaurant on Spring Cypress. Pretty much the same quality food. I don't know if they changed chefs or what, but I won't be going back anytime soon. Their sister Restaurant, Jimmy Changas in Katy, however, always gets it right. Wow! Really great Tex-Mex! I thought with the fancy Vegas style sign it would be more bar than good food, but I was wrong. I ordered takeout and told the gentleman working the take out counter, Josh, I was in a hotel so I needed cutlery. He was so charming and helpful. Packed everything perfectly, best green sauce I've ever had, the corn tortillas were AMAZING, and at Josh's suggestion, I had the chicken marisco bowl which was fantastic. it's fair, not authentic mexican, im sure that's obvious to most, but it claims to be in the name, so i'll hold them to it. very americanized, overpriced and unimpressive service and atmosphere. certainly tex-mex, i'll give them that. but the deal breaker for me are the tortillas. not using lard, just not as fresh and missing the proper texture. i'm from san antonio, so yea, i am a tortilla snob, get over it. so if i'm paying this much (parenthetically a work outing), i want authentic, not these rubbery, soft, seemingly store bought discs. i've had worse but this most important part is a fail to me. the chips seem like tostidos, but the green salsa is pretty good. i didn't get sour cream/guac/pico with my fajitas either so i had to fix that asap, but waiter was sporadic. got a refill at the end of dinner, too late, and it didn't seem that busy but i understand being understaffed in 2021 and if i had a real issue i would've said something, but in a prepandemic world refills (just water-i realize there's no monetary gain for a waiter in refilling h2o but thought it was still a legit service) were a given at most 3 star & above restaurants. oh, and then dinner took nearly 45 mins to come after ordering, and many in my group had cold food. the onions with the fajitas weren't very charred or caramelized like i want to see, pretty under, but the bacon was nicely crisp & crackling around the shrimp, so of course the shrimp were well over & rubbery. the chicken was ok, a bit dry and lacking knockout/standout flavor aside from my lime spritz but the shrimp were better. there's a reason i avoid eating here, unless someone buys my food as in this case. so plenty of room for improvement. also the ceiling fans on the outside porch were super low, virtually no circulation on a hot humid summer eve and mosquitoes were ravenous on all of us. i think a faster speed would've stopped the mosquitoes and kept us cool. read more

We ate at the Cypress location last night. Please take this with the intent that I am writing it. It was a typical busy Thursday night. We got seated quickly and that was great. It took longer than expected to get a server to take the order. We did not have silverware or napkin and after asking (3) times AFTER our food was served... I had to go and find it myself. Another server got us (3) rolled napkins with only a fork it them. Well, that led to asking for a knife 2 times. Meanwhile the food was getting cold. One order was delviered wrong and we had to wait for them to correct it. My dish, the new entree for the Al Pastor Bowl was fatty pork, served almost cold. Not impressed with the entree, yet we ate, paid, and went on our way. I hope you can do better in the future. The server did what he could. He was kind and understanding. read more

Came on a Thursday afternoon and it was SUPER packed. The place was 99% occupied and I thought wow..! The food must be really good. Service was good and the atmosphere was very loud and upbeat. There were so many families and kids running around. Nice outdoor seating, play place for kids and even FREE self soft serve ice cream!! Border sampler 5/5- came with 2 items of each, chicken quesadilla which was crispy and hot, really good. Beef empanadas which were also crispy and really good, southwest egg rolls were okay, chicken taquitos were super crunchy and beef nachos were also ok, it was my least favorite item. Everything on this plate was hot and crunchy Tampiquena 3/5- the meat was very tender but was bland, the refried beans were also bland, the rice was ok, the cheese enchiladas were not good and the Mexican street corn was a let down. My husband and I have ordered from this restaurant, of course, now we have to check the orders every time, but unfortunately, in my rush to get home, I trusted that they had the food in the bag, and yet when I got home part of my food was missing. After much deliberation with the manager there, my husband finally had to say he was going to call the corporate office to get the order taken care of. They asked if we could just come back to the restaurant and pick it up, but we are 30-45 minutes away from the restaurant, and traffic is heavy. This is something that always happens, but yet once he mentioned calling corporate, then all of a sudden, they want to give us credit or reimbursement for part of the meal. I ended up spending more money getting DoorDash to order the food in total spending about $50 for a meal that should've cost maybe $25. No wonder they only have a three star rating. I have never seen such incompotent people in my life. How hard is it to read and prepare a meal? Why not double-check and make sure your customers order is correct? read more

You call it in, customize it and bam you have more than enough food for a family of 2 or enough for 4. Comes with choice of protien and rice, beans and queso and chips. So much flavor with the added salsa, crema, and avacado creme. Always consistent and they offer Margaritas To Go! Say what!? Yep like most restaraunts in texas right now get the drinks to go. We have been coming to Gringos for over 20 years. Started eating there food on Pearland. We still try and come as often as we can make the trip from the country. Tonight we tried to eat a little healthier and asked for a switch from rice and beans to grilled vegetables. They up charged us $.60 cents to take two small sides and give me one small batch of veggies. They have also changed the small drinks to really small glasses. Taking away more alcohol for just as high a price. Come on. I have always been a fan but I feel that you are starting to focus on creating profit from taking away from the customers. Makes me sad to see the change. Must be new people running the show and greed is taking over. read more
