Just be sure to check the "best by" dates on items. I scored meat that was a range between $4-$6 off since it was supposed to "expire" the day of. This was a steal because all I had was $14 and my total for 2 picnic packs of chicken, 1 pack of chicken breasts, and a fee other items came out to $14.02. This was definitely a rare occasion. Discriminates people with disabilities. Absolutely astonishing and upsetting how this establishment treated me and my service animal. This is not a disability friendly or accessible environment. I have a trained service animal who alerts me to impending seizures and assists me during seizure related emergencies, tasks recognized under the ADA. An employee aggressively demanded to know if my dog was a service animal. When I said yes, they demanded to know what my "disability" was. Under the ADA, staff cannot ask about the nature of a person's disability, demand documentation, or require proof of training. They are generally limited to asking whether the dog is required because of a disability and what task it has been trained to perform. When I asked for a manager, the employee brought over a male stocker who got in my face and behaved so aggressively that both I and my service animal were frightened. Another employee eventually gave me the owner's contact information. Kia Patterson, the owner, acknowledged that her staff had limited training regarding service animals, but when I asked to speak with her directly about what happened, she stopped responding to my emails. People with disabilities should not have to defend their right to enter a business or be intimidated simply for having a service animal. Proper training could have prevented this entire situation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who relies on a service animal. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

I have been shopping on and off at this location for years as it is within a mile of my home and this is by far the WORST location ever! I have had multiple complaints over the years about their rude employees and have voiced them to Kia (the owner) several times and she just brushes them off stating that it is difficult working in customer service. Like, really, ya don't say so? I am all about sticking up for your employees if they are treated badly, but not encouraging them to be a-holes and jerks to your good customers! The latest incident I had was taking off the cap of a Downy bottle to smell the scent since it was one I had never bought before. I hear this light voice and I turn to my right and one of Kia's employees telling me to NOT open the bottles to smell the fragrance. Uh, excuse me? How am I supposed to know if I like the scent or not? I told her employee right then and there the same thing. He shook his head and proceeded to tell me to make sure it is nice and tight to avoid spillage. This was the last time that I shopped at this location as I won't ever go back, which is a shame cause it is so convenient; however, I am sick and tired of being harassed by Kia's employees for no reason. I understand it is located in a ghetto "iffy" area of town but Kia, you do have some great customers and your staff should treat us respectfully and courteously. As a matter of fact, if I am in other areas of town I wlll shop at other locations. This location has never been good. The cashiers hate their life, barely interact with you, and openly argue with you. Once I was getting rung up and I asked for a bag at the end and the cashier got all upset because she didn't charge me for a bag. That's not my fault, she didn't ask! And then she said "I definitely did ask!" But I know she didn't because I was standing there waiting for her to ask me so I could say "yes!" Instead she was super grumpy about it and acted like I ate her last donut. Nobody ever helps bag groceries either. The line could be down the aisle and they will stand there looking bored and irritated while you fill 3 bags of groceries on your own. The cherry on top was today's interaction. I Bought a box of cereal and a bag of chips and a week later realized the cereal had a hole in the bag and the chips were partially opened. Went back to return it without the receipt but assumed they would just give store credit or look up the transaction from my card and the shift manager had the nerve to say "how do I know you're not scamming me without the receipt?" HUH?!? Over a $5 transaction?? Just ridiculously bad customer service then he wanted to stand there and argue with me about it saying only the owner can look up previous transactions. Again... HUH?! What kind of low rent business can't even look up a transaction on their POS system? And what kind of 22 year old manager manager uses curse words with a customer and wants to condescend me to explain how a receipt works like it's not 2026. I had a serious problem here, and unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. I spoke with three different ladies to address my issue. Amber was very professional, respectful. Another employee was also professional. However, the third employee was unprofessional, dismissive, and made an already difficult situation even more frustrating. The reviews for terrible customer service are true. I was there this morning and the girl at the register gave a snarky remark when I asked her to help me bag. She said "are you going to be picky about how I bag?'. She made that comment after i initially told her that I wanted soups and heavy items in a different bag since I was also bagging. As a cashier, you should know how to bag certain items and not just dump things in a bag. I also shouldn't have to tell the cashier to help me bag. This morning around 11:26am Your cashier, #185 Elizabeth, was extremely disrespectful during my visit. When I approached the register, she did not say good morning or acknowledge me in any way. She immediately began ringing up my items without any greeting or communication. When it was time to pay, I realized I had left my debit card in my car, which was parked directly in front. I quickly went to retrieve it. When I returned, she had already moved my items aside and started ringing up another customer without informing me of what was happening. I was standing right there and received no explanation or acknowledgment. She was engaging and speaking with the other customer in Spanish, but when it was my turn again, her attitude completely changed. She became cold and rude toward me. I even tried to remain polite by saying good morning and wishing her a good day. When I asked about a bag, she responded with attitude, saying, "You told me you didn't want one," which was not true. Everyone has bad days, but that does not excuse treating customers poorly. The way I was treated was unprofessional and disappointing. Unfortunately, this particular location did not meet those standards. In some cases, visible mold was present at the stem of the avocados. I picked up multiple bags of oranges and found that nearly all were damaged or expired. When customers can clearly see mold and spoiled food across an entire produce section, it signals a serious issue with inventory management and quality control. No one should be expected to pay high prices for food that poses a potential health hazard. This is something management and Grocery Outlet Bargain Market should address immediately. Unfortunately, the experience worsened at checkout. I was assisted by a cashier who was openly rude, dismissive, and selective about whom she chose to treat with basic courtesy. I was treated less like a customer and more like an inconvenience, which was both uncomfortable and unprofessional. At this point, until the store undergoes a serious cleanup, addresses the food safety issues, and retrains certain employees, it would honestly be better off closed than continuing to operate in this condition. I had a very concerning experience at this Grocery Outlet location (7th Street, Long Beach). When I entered the store, the security guard at the entrance stared at me in an intense and prolonged way that immediately made me feel uncomfortable. I tried to ignore it and continued shopping, but the behavior continued even after I made my purchase. When I confronted the situation, the security guard became defensive and used explicit language toward me, including swearing. This escalated what should have been a normal visit into a very uncomfortable interaction. I then asked to speak with a manager. A young employee who identified himself as the manager came over, and instead of addressing my concern seriously, he appeared to justify the security guard's behavior rather than de-escalate the situation or take the complaint seriously. Overall, I felt disrespected and unwelcome in this store. The lack of professionalism from both the security staff and management was disappointing. I'm a regular customer (2-3x/mo), and yesterday I entered the store, passed through metal swing gates when I heard, "Excuse me Ma'am, Ma'am, Ma'am.." I turned to see the security guard summoning me to ask, "Is that a purse or...?" Since the only items that could fit were inside (wallet and phone), I responded, "Purse?" He then walked away. I was disturbed, but managed to finish my shopping. I was carrying a crossbody bag roughly the size of two pockets (see picture). Love the Bargain Grocery Outlet, just be careful...not everything is a bargain. Some of the produce can be expensive, so I'd typically only buy some of the produce, but things like strawberries, mushrooms, avocados can be more expensive here. However, the place does thrive when it comes to specialty items; it's a treasure trove when you're dieting and looking for Whole 30 friendly items, gluten free items, etc. I've found some great deals here and love the shortribs here as well as the marinated pork ribs. Grocery Outlet Stores are independently owned . They are a local small business. 7th St. owner is very nice she works all over the store. There is a good variety of products at very low prices. On a recent trip I picked up bellvida cookies 40 pack for $3.50 The deals are great but many items are limited quantities and once gone may not be back. Fresh produce and meat are available . Dairy and refrigerated foods as well. The store is not huge, it's closer to Aldi in size than Walmart. Parking is a bit trick at peek houses you may have to go to the further part of the lot. They accept major credit cards, EBT. & cash. They have a small Liquor section and a good sized selection of beer & wines . Frequently at tremendous discounts. Employees at this store have been very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend you give them a try. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! Today was the fourth time I had to get a refund on an item that rang up wrong in this store. Another time it was the difference of a dollar so I just let it go. So that's five times I've had items ring up incorrectly in the store. The manager that issued my refund was pleasant enough at first. He explained that the wrong tag was in front of the item that I wanted. In the past they've honored the price that was in front of the item. Not today. That's fine but then I told him that it's been several times that I've had items ring up incorrectly in his store. He told me that "it's a lot of moving parts". I told him that I've worked in the grocery store for 30 years and you cannot have the wrong prices on items. That's when he told me it was my responsibility (since I had worked in the grocery industry for 30 years) to make sure that the UPC matches the item I want to purchase. That's when I lost my temper. Instead of making excuses and being rude, he could have just said we'll do better. I have shopped in this store since it opened and I'm a regular customer. I come at least once a week. I will not be shopping at this location ever again. I will drive 5 mi out of my way to give my business to the store on Palo Verde where I have never had a problem with the pricing. My good friend that lives three blocks away used to also be a loyal, frequent customer. She was treated very rudely about a year ago. She no longer shops at this location. This was my first visit to a Grocery Outlet, just needed to pick up a few items and it was on my way to my final destination. I purchased 5 items and 3 rang up higher than they were priced on the shelves. I expect there to be an occasional mistake, but when more than half of the product prices are either flat or wrong or are deceptively shelved that speaks to a concerted effort to overcharge customers. Staff were super friendly and processed refunds for the incorrect items (did not offer to match the price they were displayed as), but I won't be back. read more

I'll give you the story and you decide. Let's start. I love this store. I do. I usually have a pleasant experience with the manager Ms. Amber I believe is her name, and her staff. However on October 8th, 2024 I go to Grocery Outlet to purchase my cheap wine. They do have the best prices. I purchase with Monique, cashier number 0336 at 7:38 p.m.. Immediately after my purchase, never leaving my stance (basically I am still at the register, about to get my receipt) I realize I forgot to ask Ms. Monique to get me a bottle of the hard stuff. So, I say, oh my, I forgot the hard stuff. Can you please get me a bottle of Monkey shoulder. Yes everyone, the drink is called Monkey Shoulder. Ms. Monique looks around, behind her, front, back and side to side. I ask her if she is looking for the manager. She says yes. I then reply, oh, I just saw her. Go ahead and help these people in line and I'll go see if I can find her. I walk away, theme music playing in my head. I am in search of the manager. I go down a few aisles and behold, I have not found the manager. Realizing my downfall I go back to the register and stand towards the end by the register where purchase completion is. I basically stood where I was before I walked away. Ms. Monique looks at me, I look at her and I say, I couldn't find the manager. Ms. Monique tells me I have to get back in line. I literally reply, what the fawk for? Ms. Monique tells me she has a line and I can't cut all of those people. I laugh in my most maniacal laugh and say, you mean to tell me I could have stood here while you hunted down the manager, completely holding up the line but instead I say, go ahead and help the customers in line and I'll find the manager (not my job at all). I ask if I had done that, then would I have had to get back in line? Ms. Monique, does this make any sense? Also, do you have an intercom or walkie talkies to call for assistance with the liquor cabinet? Ms. Monique says they do not. I reply , this is effiing ridiculous. A customer walks off to find the manager, to open the liquor cabinet so you can assist the line, then when the customer (that's me) comes back with an epic fail of finding the manager you ask the customer to get back in line? why for when I was already in the line and only walked off to help you. I find the thought process ridiculous however , someone may believe I should have got back in line even though I walked around looking for the manager when I could have held my spot while Ms. Monique did it since there is no intercom or walkie talkies. This is wild. At this moment, I walk off even more determined to find the manager now. A. I need my hard liquor and B. I'm not getting back in line. I'd leave minus 5 if possible! I have lived in Long Beach, CA over 20 years, owned my home over 16 years in Long Beach very close to this Grocery Outlet. I shop mostly at Vons, occasionally at Ralphs and lately been shopping at this Grocery Outlet. In over 20 years shopping in Long Beach I have never had any issues where I shop, never, not even in well over 40 years of my shopping life time all over the country. Tonight after many times shopping at this Grocery Outlet I was stopped from making my purchase by the security guard over what he perceived as me being too aggressive towards the cashier, which I was not at all, he just decided I was and I wasn't. She asked for my ID I showed it, then she asked me to pull it out and I said to her no one has ever asked me to pull my ID out before and I said to her, do I look like I'm under 21 (I don't, I'm 58), just talk as I've said to many other cashiers at other stores. I was just making a point how ridiculous this ID thing has become as it has. Then out of nowhere this security guy comes up saying I cannot talk to her this way, I was shocked and said I can talk to her how I want being I was not talking to her in anyway to demean her whatsoever, why would I, I don't know her, I wasn't angry at her about the ID thing she was just doing her job I was just expressing the ridiculousness of me a 58 year old guy who clearly is well over 21 being ID that was it, not one thing against her and I do not believe she took it this way either but this security guard did and he was completely out of line. Even if I was in a bad mood and showing I was not in the best of moods is that not my right to be in a bad mood, when you work in with public as I do and have done my whole life you have to have tolerance of people, not tolerance of people being abusive and I assure you I was not in anyway close to any kind of abusive behavior. I left the store, stood by my car in shock thinking this just did not happen, something that in over 40 years of shopping has never happened before. So i went back in to speak with a manager and he happen to be standing right there, apparently the security guard already gave his version of the story, I attempted to explain what happened but this manager I believe he said his name was Bob, he refuse to give his last name, he had already had his mind set on I was in the wrong before even listening to me, I asked him what exactly it was did I did wrong and he could not really explain it other than what the security guy told him which was completely blown out of proportion big time, I even asked the cashier if I was rude to her in anyway but she wasn't answering she just kept looking at the security guard like how should I answer and before I could get her to answer me there was a very angry customer screaming I was holding up the line, I told her if I did offend you in anyway I apologize and told her I did not at all mean to offend you if I did, then I walked away. I approached the security guard and manager after this together and explained to them this was very wrong what you just did to me, I did nothing wrong, the security guard kept saying, you should apologize to her, I said I did apologize to her then the manager says, see if you did nothing then why would you apologize to her and I had to explain to him that I told her "If" I offended you in anyway I apologize, "IF", which I know I didn't. As I said, I've lived in Long Beach over 20 years, owned my home here over 16 years shopped at many stores here and have never once been treated this way, this was so wrong and unreal I can't even believe it actually happened. If this is the way Grocery Outlet treats their customers I will be sure to never step foot in another one of your stores ever again and I will be sure to let everyone I know about this experience I had and they did absolutely nothing to resolve it, no apology to me, no discipline to these employees who were clearly out of line. I frequent this store weekly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the store is clean and organized, half of the staff are not cordial.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Your most notable employees are the security staff hired. As my groceries were being scanned, I noticed two items were $.70 more than the advertised price on the shelf. I informed Elizabeth R. that the price is showing $3.79 instead of the $4.49 that rang up.
