Oh my gosh, this place has great meat dishes. Hamburgers are so good, but try their tri tip, briquit...a nice salad. My girlfriends and I love to sit outside. Grumpy's! We have been waiting and watching and anticipating your opening. As locals we struggle to find great food, great service and an inviting atmosphere. Your optimism for opening a burger place in an area where there are a lot of other restaurants with decent burgers, made us a little nervous. However, from the looks of the outside, I knew we were going to love it. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. Really it was 3 1/2 stars for our first visit. First it was 4:00 on a Sunday. Not busy yet so no excuse from the kitchen right? We ordered 2 burgers, fries, onion rings and 2 beers. It's a little confusing with ordering at the counter, picking up beers at the bar and then food from the kitchen. But we went with it. 49er game on, great moody vibe, love it. Gas Fireplace still intact. (It was the first thing I made sure stayed! Yay!) Food was ready and my fries were room temp :( I hesitated but brought them back to the kitchen. The young lady showed no expression or remorse or enthusiasm as she walked away and told me they will work on it. I waited and waited and waited at the food counter (while my burger was getting cold) then received my fresh fries. They were yummy fresh and hot. Wish she would have said she would bring them to me... The onion rings were definitely over cooked. The burgers were really good, better than decent. As the game ended and as more and more guests came in the TV's blared out the NEWS. Terrible news by the way, a body found on the river, a child dead. It was awful. The bartender who we were introduced to as one of the owners maybe manager? Paid no attention to this as people got up to leave. I'm a little sad. Please pay music or something? No body wants to hear depressing awful news like this when we are out enjoying a meal and a drink. It made us hurry to finish our beer to get out of there. I feel like a few balls were dropped and you just opened. Someone should really be paying VERY close attention to your atmosphere and vibe. It's what costs you money. It's what makes me, quite honestly, never go back to a place. I work and own a business in Auburn where my clients ask me every single day where to go and what I recommend. Please fix this Grumpy's and you could have it all. I'll definitely give you another chance because I really want you to do great! PS. I'm sad to say that I'm disappointed about this place. I tried this place for the first time with my husband and 3 young kids. I would not recommend going here if you have young children as the wait time was ridiculous. First off, you order at the counter and pick up your order at the pick up window once your food is ready. The first downfall is that there is only one cashier taking orders so there is a long line of people just waiting to order their food. When finally placing my order, I was told it would take 30 minutes for the food to be ready. I thought that this was already a long wait for a semi-fast food restaurant where there are no servers waiting on tables. But to make matters worse, our wait time was over an hour!... for 2 burgers, 1 order of chicken tenders, and a sad portion of onion rings (just a handful of tiny onion rings - basically the perfect size for my 2 year old). 1 hour for food at any restaurant is long, but for anyone who has little ones, you know this wait time is outrageous because entertaining little kids for an hour is difficult. When I expressed our frustration about the wait, we received a mere, "sorry" as our opinions were basically dismissed. It was clear from observation that other patrons were displeased with the service as well. One customer told a staff that he had been waiting nearly 50 minutes for his food. Another customer discovered his take out order was just sitting at the cash register after waiting over half an hour without the restaurant even attempting to call out his name to let him know his food was ready. The the location is great but the food is okay. I can see this place having so much potential if they can figure out how to get their food out quicker, increase the portion size, and improve customer service. oh dear -- I love to support a new business but I can't afford the time or money to give this another chance. 1. Better burgers and better prices at Jack in the box or burgers'n cream. 2. I ordered a burger bowl and got this weird flat meat with no flavor, none of the promised grilled onions, strange tasteless field greens and just no care given to it. 3. During the dinner rush there was a staff person sitting at the bar engaging two other staff in personal conversation. They were clustered there deep in conversation right where all the patrons enter and order. It's a weird impression that we're interrupting their personal tete a tete. Personal conversations and just hanging out while others are working is an unwelcoming behavior. Look busy, look interested, at least stand up and don't be plopped down on a chair meant for customers. Take your break in the break room. Act interested. read more

Stopped in at Grumpy's Burgers and brew before running out errands. Nice decor on the inside. Great patio that will be nice in the summer. Menu is small burgers and a few other options but it's primarily a burger joint. Beer menu looks good. Paula had the grilled cheese with avocado and bacon added. I had the double grumpy burger. Great burger thin patties with a good crisp on the edges. Shredded lettuce is a nice touch. Burger reminded me of Whataburger back in Az. Grilled cheese was great. Bread is the star, perfectly toasted with great flavor. We split the tater tots which were nice and crispy. Will come back to try the custard shakes. read more

I could have gotten the same thing for cheaper, it wasn't offensive but I wouldn't say that it's really a great price for what you get. I'd pay $8. Service? What service? My wife and I checked out Grumpy's on New Years Day. First off it was nicely packed with people checking out the new restaurant which was great! My wife and I both got the Grumpy with bacon, ordered a side of tots and fries and both had the local Kolsch. It was simply delicious! I wanted to grab a second burger (but I didn't...new years goals)!! We love that they have all local brews and wines to support the local businesses. The staff were extremely friendly and the customer service was great. We had a great time at Grumpy's and we cannot wait to come on back to have another Grumpy Burger! We loved it! For the four of us, 3 of the burgers came out wrong. We asked for ranch on the side for the tater tots. Instead they put ranch on the burger, and left off the BBQ sauce. We mentioned it to the employee that was passing out the food at the counter. She had a blank stare, told the guy in the back, but no offer to fix what was wrong .
