Spent the night in Allentown to celebrate my brothers birthday and went to Grumpys for brunch. Restaurant in what looks like a house that was pretty big. We were there at open time and were seated right away. Our waitress was really nice and attentive but not overwhelming where she was at the table every 5 minutes. We ordered the Extreme combo which came with Ribs, brisket and chicken as well as 2 sides and corn bread. For sides we did fries and mashed potatoes. My husband and I shared and still was able to take some home. Now for the food. The corn bread was really well made, the fries where nice and crispy but soft inside like I love them, the mashed was just mash. Now for the BBQ, the ribs Omg! The ribs were meaty and flavorful and huge! They were my favorite. As much as I love brisket the brisket was just okay. The ends were dry and I got a lot of random fat., I also wasn't a big fan of the chicken. I still gave 4 starts because the ribs and service alone are worth it! read more

Out with some friends and the food and service were amazing. Not our first time here and certainly won't be our last. Wish I had more pictures to share but we devoured everything so quickly. 1st time here. Ambiance and service were great! Our friend and I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, Cole slaw and baked beans. Thankful for the sides but still left hungry. Both of our ribs were so fatty it was horrible. Hardly any meat whatsoever. We figured with the name of the place they would be phenomenal, very very disappointed!! Stopped in for an early dinner on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after shooting clays at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, which is super close by. Roadhouse is the perfect word for this place. It's packed with Americana and has a really homey, laid-back feel. I wish it were closer to where I live because there were a lot of things on the menu I'd love to come back and try--especially the Creole/Cajun options. This visit I went with the wings and the gumbo. The wings were smoked and really good, and the gumbo was just as tasty. It also looks like they can pack a crowd in here--they've got a bunch of live music acts scheduled through January. If this place were closer, I'd be here a lot more often. That said, anytime I'm heading back to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, this will definitely be part of the same-day plan. read more

We've been customers of Grumpy's for years, even through Covid we supported them via takeout. Four of us were there this past weekend and it was lousy (that may be a generous adjective)! The ribs were fatty, tough, and had NO meat on them. We called this to the attention of our server and she simply, politely, just said "I'm sorry about that". We eat out as a hobby and know that when the food served isn't up to the expectations of the customer, some reparations are offered e.g. a free drink, a coupon for the next visit etc. Nothing was offered. So, when we're ready for BBQ next time, we'll stick with Pt. Phillips, perhaps the best in the valley. read more

I've been on a quest for Prime Rib! So, I decided to try Grumpy's. Always ordered rare, which means you get medium rare at all the places I've tried. I've had tender, cut with a fork prime rib years ago, but I cannot this elusive cut anywhere in the Lehigh Valley. The places I've tried were all good, but none were great! I've tried prime rib at Millers Ale House, Prime Steakho.use, Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Longhorn. While the seasoning and taste varies from place to place; the one common element is having to saw the steak with a knife to cut it. This results in excessive chewing of the meat. This really reduces overall enjoyment of the prime rib experience. To get what I want from a prime rib experience will probably require paying $60 plus dollars and a long drive from the Lehigh Valley. Grumpy's of course serves smoked prime rib. I love smoked meats but not when it comes to prime rib I discovered. So, I won't be getting the $32 dollar, 16oz prime rib there again. I will be ordering the blackened bleu cheese burger with bacon and the ribs again! Onion rings a must for me. The side salad (adds $2) is excellent! Not just iceburg lattuce. I chose cole slaw as a side' it's good but their style of pink cole slaw is not for me. You get a piece of corn bread, but it's tiny and totaly underwhelming compared to cornbread elsewhere. The staff is courteous, attentive, and friendly. The ambience leaves much to be desired. To me feels like a bikers bar, which it is not. At the end of the day Grumpy's gets a B+ in my book and I will occasionally visit for lunch or dinner. Note: Their Au Jus is highly recommended and is not served with the meal. Food was pretty good. I had the Spicy Black Bean Burger w/fries. Alcoholic drinks are on the high side ($9.50 for a Malibu Bay Breeze). This is another establishment that charges a processing fee if you use a credit card. You don't know about this until you receive your bill (no sign on the entrance door). read more

Came here with some friends on a Sunday afternoon and it was a blessing. We were all starving and one of our friends recommended this place for bbq. In terms of atmosphere, it's definitely welcoming and lively. The customer service was great, our waitress was generous and efficient. We started off with the alligator bites and wow, I'm glad I'm eating alligator again. It's been so long since I've had it and Grumpy's reminded me of the texture all over again. The spicy mayo (I think) they served with it complemented it well. I sat down and ordered the burnt ends platter with friends and okra and it did not disappoint. The burnt ends were tender, flavorful and a great mix between fatty and meaty. I've never had proper burnt ends before but if this is what it is, it's a great start! The fries could have been just plain fries and I would have been happy but the fries here have those extra crispy bits on the outside so there's more texture and crunch for each bite. It really adds to the platter. The fried okra was also great too, albeit being my first time having okra. I'm not upset with it and it's growing on me. What I regret though, is not ordering the extreme platter. I think it comes with sides, a good amount of chicken, a couple of ribs, and more. Once my friend ordered the extreme platter, I knew I had to come back because those ribs looked so juicy and tender. I'm hoping to come back soon! read more

Came here twice now and the food didn't disappoint. We came right when they open and there weren't anyone but the staff. Right when we sat down, at least 3 different groups rolled in. Guess it's lunch time for everyone! Nice little cozy place for some grub. They have interesting decor all around the place. Most noticeable for me was the fireplace and the 3 boar's head hung above it (we sat there twice). I ordered the burnt ends sandwich and fries - DELICIOUS! It also helps when you're super hungry hehe. The flavor was good and it was a sizeable portion, although my tummy is small. To some, it may be just enough. Loved their fries, not starchy or dry. One other ordered their usual - 1/2lbs Cajun prawns with a bowl mash potato, while my boyfriend enjoyed his burger. Can't go wrong with that! Ordered online and my food was ready before estimated time, it was my first time actually inside the building so I wasnt sure where to go to pick it up. Staff was super kind to me & told me congratulations on my first time there. I definitely deserved the congratulations as my food was wonderful. This BBQ was amazing! The honey bee sandwich was delicious. It was slow cooked brisket with bacon, tangy BBQ sauce, onion petals, & pepper jack cheese. I had it with 2 sides in place of the fries. The shaved Brussel sprouts were delicious & so was the cucumber/tomato salad. The service was fast & friendly & prices were very reasonable. I love there menu selections. As I get older I find that I like BBQ more and more. However the Lehigh Valley is not the bustling BBQ hub some other parts of the country are. These two things led me to grabbing some dinner from Grumpy's Bar B Que Roadhouse. As soon as I smelled the parking lot I knew I made a good choice. Grumpy's is a dive bar and I mean that in the best way possible, it reminds me of some of the BBQ places I had when I was down in Texas. This place is dark, loud and cramped. The service was a little on the slower side but our server was nice. She frequently apologized for the wait, I guess they had a lot of take out orders. The food was good but not great, I have had better BBQ but it was better than most. The Chicken was good, the ribs were falling off the bone, but the brisket was fattier than I like. The star of the show was the deep fried pickles, they were the chips not the spears and the breading on them was perfect. They also have two house BBQ sauces on the table, they both were good but I liked the spicy sauce a bit more. Overall a very good BBQ place located in the Lehigh Valley, just know that it is not the most fancy place. read more

We love coming to Grumpy's BBQ, it's probably the best BBQ spot in the Lehigh Valley. I love the ribs and the smokiness of it. Service was fast and attentive and to the point. Our server recommended the Texas twinkies and they were so good and decadent. If I could adjust or revise something it would be the temperature of the food when it comes out, it wasn't too hot and it got cold quickly (maybe because the restaurant itself was cold) Also the coleslaw is a little bland and too wet. We were definitely NOT grumpy after eating here! Everything we had was delicious! Gator bites, pork belly over citrus slaw, brisket platter and slider sandwich combo- all amazing! The pork belly was my absolute favorite- tender crisp pork belly over a nicely seasoned bed of cole slaw with little dots of raspberry sauce. I'm still dreaming about it. I had my first experience at Grumpy's last week and all I can say is "fried pickles "! The word was that they were really good here and they didn't disappoint! Long slices of a delicious ,possibly kosher, pickles with a thick, crunchy corn meal coating like I have never had before. So good and I can see why people love these fried pickles. I also had the ribs, brisket, coleslaw and wings on a buffet at a party in the restaurant. Wings were just ok , a little too soft and mushy for me and maybe they would be better if ordered fresh. The brisket was just ok , nothing special and again a little too mushy, liked they were cooked too much and kinda fatty. Ribs were good , large and meaty but you could tell they were cooked and just finished on the grill , no smoke rings. I really liked their barbecue sauces, they had a traditional and a spicy.
