We were just passing by on our drive home via road trip. I love Mexican food and found this place which seemed like an authentic Mexican restaurant but I wasn't impressed with the taco salad I ordered. It was extremely plain... taco shell, shredded meat, one tomato, cheese, some sour cream and guacamole. That was about it. No salsa, no dressing. I love this place. We go there to eat at least once a month but sometimes more. It's comfortable, friendly and clean. The staff are friendly. I enjoy the food, the salsa and the chips. My husband loves their margaritas. After the Covid year of 2020 I worried for them. We did take out and I'm so happy they are back on track. They installed partitions between the booths. Festive Atmosphere. Great Salsa. Decent Portions. Good Service. I came here for lunch after writing this place off for a long time. On a visit here almost ten years ago, I had regrets beans served to me that were spoiled. I have this place the 'death card' at that time, promising to never come back. It took a business meeting here to finally bring me back; I'm glad I came. First off, the salsa is great. Full of flavor thanks to pungent onions and the right ratio of heat and cilantro, it was very satisfying. The chips seemed a bit stale, but maybe they were just really crispy. Anyways, the chips and salsa were great overall. My Vegan dish was the lunch portion 'Veggie Burrito' minus tomatoes. I asked for no cheese, and was told they don't put it on that burrito. I also asked to make sure the enchilada sauce they cover it with was dairy free and was told it was. The burrito was great, thanks in large part to the sauce; truly completed the dish. The portion size was great, too, for the money. Overall, I would say this is a solid Mexican restaurant in Redding! read more

Absolutely delightful experience here. Got seated promptly, great service and top notch recommendations. We got the chicken mole and cactus with pork and loved our food. Reading through the reviews here and from my own experience, the taco salad was a mistake; nearly flavorless. Salt and hot sauce did not help. Definitely missing something. Tomato? Lime, cilantro, salt? Onion? Almost as if this menu item was specifically intended for peeps who can't tolerate any spice at all?? We were here for lunch and food was delicious. Do not forget to ask for the spicy sauce with chips and salsa. It was addictive! But we were not happy with the service. We specifically asked not to add refried beans and Mexican rice to one of the taco plates (Crispy tacos). Unfortunately, the tacos weren't crispy anymore! I've been to the restaurant a handful of times and never had a problem until last night 5/22/2021 my husband called in an order about 7:30pm not a large order they stated it would be ready between 15-20min we arrived on time but still waited about another 10 minutes not a problem at all. We arrive at home check all the food all looks and smells amazing, we start eating an my food (Guadalajara camarones) shrimp wrapped in bacon looks odd I check the bacon and it looks raw NOT undercooked but completely uncooked I unwrap another same issue long story short all the bacon was raw. Place came recommended to me by two different locals and decided to give it a try. Friday night dinner rush and the place was packed. Small parking lot with ZERO available parking, so I parked next door at Midas (which had closed for the day) and walked on over. Tacky sign and decor did not deter me, this is Mexican food anyway, right? Free chips and salsa promptly delivered. Chips are not the thin and warm chips I prefer, these likely store bought. Salsa was good though. Ordered Horchata to drink and it did not have enough cinnamon for my taste. I was in the mood for shrimp enchiladas but that is NOT a menu option! Decided on the carne asado burrito. I ordered without the guacamole and should have asked for extra sauce and cheese. To our surprise, it was such a nice place with all the Mexican feel . We are vegetarians and they had some good options too. We tried the burrito vegeteriano with the enchilada sauce. This is our go-to when we want to dine out at a Mexican restaurant. We try to go during "off" hours to avoid loud crowds & typically it works out well. They do get very busy & even with high ceilings the noise level can rise pretty quickly. Add a few margaritas & you have yourself a shouting match just trying to chat with the person across the table from you. The service is always top notch & the food flavors & portions are both big. If you're having a celebration, just let them know. They'll help you celebrate! No bean dip with your salsa? Just ask! The servers are really accommodating. First time eating here. My gf and I came here based on reviews. I ordered three combo plate (cheese enchilada, chili relleno, and ground beef taco with rice and beans). My gf ordered the chicken mole (with rice and beans and flour tortillas). The star of the show was the chicken mole. My chili relleno didn't taste very fresh and the ground beef hard shell taco was inedible. The beef tasted old. The cheese enchilada wasn't bad. Had a good taste. The beans seemed like they'd been sitting in a warmer for a while and had a burnt taste to them. The rice was dry. While those items weren't memorable, the chicken mole was. The flavor was amazing. I think it's safe to say that the next time we're in Redding we will most likely skip visiting this place but I would definitely order the Chicken Mole for take out. I'd suggest corn tortillas over the flour. Both of which seemed store bought. The complimentary cinnamon fried tortilla with whip cream at the end was tasty. read more
