Ordered their fusille pesto pork sausage a few nights ago. 3.5 hours later got violently ill. Food poisoning. Not good. A solid hour of stomach pains and you know what else. Emailed them just to let them know. So they could keep others from getting sick. No word back and so stopped in just now to tell them, and that no way was it not that dinner. As I left the girl offers a flippant "have a nice day" If you give your customers food poisoning and they simply bring it to your attention... maybe apologize or something instead of being an Ahole. read more

already ate half of it before taking a picture because i was so excited. i've been going here for almost 10 years i think (since i was a kid) and always get the turkey sandwich. this place is amazing. family owned (i think). awesome, friendly staff. i've never had my order messed up and never had a bad experience. the bread always tastes fresh and the green salad on the side is perfect with the sandwich. definitely try this place. read more

Food was to be expected for 'fast' food but the service was terrible. Came in late after a recommendation from CVS pharmacy and when asked what they were known for, I received a smug laughter and snarky remark along with the girl at the front turning to her friends and laughing saying 'Italian' Extremely poor service and immature. If it wasn't so late and I didn't just come from hours at the hospital, I would have gone elsewhere. Will never return and would not recommend. read more

Noticed in the last 2 months the service has gone done hill. Last time in they forgot to give us the toast plus we had to wait an additional 20 minutes even though I called it in and got there 25 minutes after I had place my order. My wife and I ordered the Lasagna, This time I order it via the phone got there in 22 minutes we only had to wait 5 mins this time they remembered the toast, but we went on a date down the street and the Lasagna was barely warm. There is nothing but kids who work there no one seems to care. I called in to complain and they said there was no manager on duty. They seem like they are fixated on the tip which I purposely make sure it is high enough to get good service but instead I get the opposite very sad. Called in order of 3 cheese steak sandwiches for takeout and was told it would be 15 minutes and when I got there it was ready as promised and hot. Got it home and everyone was very happy. The roll was big, filled with chopped Tri-tip steak, roasted onions and red and green peppers and lots of delicious melted provolone cheese. Each came with a small container of a relish that was spicy and my DH ate all of it. I could not finish my sandwich as there was so much but I did happily warm it up and have it for dinner. Guicho's is a really good place for takeout Italian food. There is seating inside, but I do not believe they are equipped for dining inside. In their menu you have options like salads, sandwiches, appetizers and pasta. You can almost find anything you expect from an Italian restaurants are here. I got to try their Fusili with Pesto and added chicken to it. I also ordered their hearts of palms salad. Since I came in here with a few friends, we decided to dine in. Everything was served in to go boxes which is why I believe they were not equipped for dine in situations. The food was good, everyone is very friendly in there. I enjoyed the hearts of palm's salad, and the dressing was perfect for it. The Fusili with Pesto pasta was alright, but the chicken was a little bland and dry. Will definitely come back to try the sandwiches and the lasagna. read more

What a pleasant surprise! My husband and I were in the area and did not know where to get food. We observed the store for about 5 min and noticed they have so many takeout. We were new to Carpenteria and were actually looking for pizza. They don't make pizza but the menu looked very good. My wife ordered the eggplant sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife and I went in and ordered two meatball sandwiches to go. The girl at the register said that it would take 20 minutes. I was surprised with as large of a staff as they had ( I counted 10 on a Wednesday night) that it would take so long. After 30 minutes passed, I asked, how much longer? The girl said, " oh, you are next". We received our sandwiches 40 minutes after ordering. I don't blame the staff, but I do blame the owner who must have trained their key workers. You can easily multitask and make the smaller orders ( such as ours) while still paying attention to larger ones. No matter how busy that you may be, making two sandwiches shouldn't take anymore than 10-15 minutes. What's right is right, the sandwiches were good which is why I gave 3 stars. read more

We ordered catering take out for the rehearsal dinner for our daughter's wedding. I called four days in advance and placed my order over the phone with a very friendly and helpful staff member. She had great suggestions on portion sizes. I called back an hour later with a slight change to my order and the staff member was just as friendly and not at all bothered that I changed my mind on one dish. I had another family member pick up my order on the night of the event. He said it was a popular spot with lots of to go orders. They were ready on time with our order. Everyone at the rehearsal dinner raved about how wonderful the food tasted. It was delicious, fresh and still plenty warm. There was some food leftover, but not a lot; it was nice to know I didn't over order, but still had plenty for seconds for those that wanted it. I would highly recommend. Not sure what's going on but I hope it was a fluke, we usually order the north location and tonight we picked up from the south, so maybe that was the problem. Happened to run by this place one late night 15 minutes before close due to some car troubles and the ladies up front were so kind and very welcoming. They helped me by giving me their top choices on the menu and they did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich and spaghetti for my girls and we were really impressed. I'm a big foodie and trust me when I tell you I can't wait to be back in the area to try something else on their menu. Since my visit I always recommend to friends and family. Hidden in a corner of El Camino next to a 7-11 store you will find this place of whatever it is for it is of what it wasn't was of something of that it should be. Of what sounded good at this time had to be the Farfalle but unfortunately in this case my pasta was by far the most flavorless thing I've had in a long time as it was pretty much just plain noodles, and a few scraps of chicken with some sun dried tomatoes in between each dissatisfied bite a tasteless substance. To be straight up honest with you I was at Costco earlier today and the pasta sample I was given there was by far tastier than anything my wife or I had here tonight as she didn't enjoy here dish either. Their pasta dishes came with a piece of garlic bread as well sadly this was the only thing either of us had that we some what enjoyed because it actually had a taste to it. It's been quite a few years since I've been here and from what I remember then you would call in your order because they were pretty much just a counter to pick up at but they've some how grown into a bigger space that I won't be coming back to as all I really got tonight was some boiled noodles! Overall terrible food and a over extended wait time on a simple phone order I don't see how they stay open as there's a ton of other delicious Italian places in San Clemente go there instead! read more

Ok this is a tough one...we've been going to Guichos for many years now and it's always been good. Always consistent. Tonight not at all. We called in the order and they said 25 minutes and I told them they could have an hour as we were coming up the freeway. I called in two separate orders. I got big attitude on the phone when I asked for no cheese in the chopped salad. My husband went to pick up the one order was not ready (at the one hour mark) yet the second order was ready. When asked... we got a very haughty "well you know we are really busy". 20 minutes later we got the order. Cheese was on the chopped salad, the very small end piece of bread and a very long hair in the salad. I have to ask what's that about? Very disappointed about how the staff handled that.
