I came here just the other day for a quick meal. I like the fact that there is a steady set menu, but that there are also a small listing of specials. The items on the smaller menu tended to be a little bit less in cost. I ordered the corned beef and hash with eggs. My order came with rice. Unfortunately, my rice was cold and was beginning to have that kind of cold crust on the outside. You know, the kind that forms because the starch on the rice goes from hot to cold. That was a big bummer but I did not want to ask them to replace it. I was kind of in a rush. They offered twice at least to replace it and to take care of it, but no matter, I just didn't eat a lot of my rice. The vibe inside is very casual. They have some pretty awesome mural work. This is definitely a café where a lot of locals come, but also a lot of visitors. The large party that left the cafe just before I arrived looked like a big group of high school kids. It's nice to see young kids going out to eat and supporting their local restaurants and eateries. The waitresses were constantly wiping down tables and dining area space. That made me feel more confident about the cleanliness of this restaurant and the fact that they care about their patrons. Maybe next time I am in town I will stop in again and try something different. My corned beef and hash wasn't anything fancy or complicated. It was just down home food. We originally came to try the famous prime rib loco moco but as we were warned it was sold out. We were told to show up early and we didn't. I ordered the oxtail soup which had tender meat that fell off the bone with a side of rice. The only down side was that it was saltier for my taste. It was still edible and with the rice was able to lessen the saltiness. My wife had the longsilog which was the Filipino breakfast that featured longanisa, fried egg, and garlic rice. We loved the garlic rice with the runny egg and the longanisa had a nice sweet and savory flavor. This was definitely a hit. We added a side of the crispy fried chicken thigh because I was torn between that and the ox tail soup. The chicken skin was crispy and the meat tender inside. One of my favorites in the Vegas area. It's off strip and north of Chinatown in a small plaza. The wait can be a bit long. We came here on Saturday around 11am and there was a 30 minute wait. So we left and came back the next day around 1pm and there was no wait. It was about 110 outside and they had a swamp cooler inside that kept the temp down a bit, but it was super loud. If you want authentic Hawaiian food, this is the spot. My wife got the wagyu loco moco and I got the fried chicken. The wagyu was good and the gravy tasted really good. My fried chicken was a little dry, but the skin was fried perfectly and reminded me of chicken skin found in Filipino establishments. Came here for breakfast. Not a super fancy place. The menu had a decent selection. We ordered the sausage with egg and rice platter. It was delicious. The fried rice had such good garlic flavor. The sausage was nice and sweet. The sweet potatoes fries were pretty standard. The waffle we did not like. It was poi mochi waffle. We have had poi before and mochi waffles separately but together it tasted sour. We couldnt even finish it. It was such an off taste we werent sure if it was bad or something. I'm originally born and raised in Hawaii. It's crazy i've never been to the locations back home when I visit. I was so happy to find out they had one here. They offer Filipino & Hawaiian fusion dishes. I went to go check it out with my friend and his mom who are also from hawaii. We ordered the Bangsilog, Da 3-Bite Feast, and oxtail soup. All 3 are big portions and shareable. The bangsilog includes diced tomatoes and onions on top of the banug fish. The bangus fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and came with a side of garlic fried rice. Da 3-Bite Feast is perfectly portioned to be shared between 2 people. It includes ube pancakes, crab cake benedict, and loco moco. All 3 tasted amazing! The ube pancakes were fluffy, the crab cake was perfectly crispy, and the loco moco was perfectly seasoned. The oxtail soup's oxtail wasn't as tender as other oxtails I've had, but the flavor was there. The broth tasted like a well seasoned pho. Cool spot, so far the only location on the mainland. The food was authentic Island style & the service was good. We came in on a Saturday around Lunch so we were expecting it to be busy, which is it was. Luckily we only waited just a few minutes to be sat at our table. It's Summer, so it's hot but I couldn't tell if their AC was out or they were just so busy all the Woks in the kitchen were just heating up the space. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our food just the same. This is a small Mom and Pop shop. It gets busy very quickly. We went at 10:35ish and the restaurant got completely filled. It was my first time going so we got the trio. I think I would just come back for the ube pancakes. I have no words other than just go look at the photos other people have posted. The crab cake was delicious and crispy. Stopped by Cafe Guieb over the 4th of July weekend and it was definitely worth it. The place was busy, but the staff stayed friendly and handled the rush well. Inside has a nice island feel. Nothing fancy, just clean and comfortable. The French toast was probably my favorite part of the meal. It had a great flavor and wasn't loaded with sugar. I also ordered the crab cake and steak loco moco. It was good as it came out, but after adding a little salt it hit the spot. I'll definitely be back. We actually had been to the one in Oahu (there's actually 3 of them there) the last time we were there, so we knew we had to go. Wifey had the "Da threee bite feast," while I opted for the prime rib loco moco (over garlic fried rice), and the kids had the french toast and pancakes. Food was just as good as I remembered, and portions are pretty large here. Come hungry, or come out with leftovers :) Service Our servers have always been awesome in the what, 3 times now that we've been there. They have always topped my coffee off constantly, are super friendly, and always willing to give their recs. Parking It's a stripmall-ish spot about 5-10 minutes away from the strip, depending on where you're staying. We haven't run into parking issues yet, but we always try to beat the crowd cuz it WILL get pretty long. Pricing On average, their main items are roughly $20-ish...plus if you opt for the more premium items, such as the prime rib loco, hehehe...but def worth it, and like i said, pretty hefty portion, so you're paying for like 1.66 meals :) Definitely a must try if you're in the hood...or on the island for that matter! read more
