Cool little restaurant in Chinatown. Parking can be a challenge depending on the time of day. Inside is on the smaller side, but they do have a beautiful back room. If you're dining in, I recommend sitting back there is you can. Otherwise they have a large "share" table in the front area. Either way, order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you. Overhyped sadly. My husband and I came out to try some Sandos. I got the Egg Sando and he got the Steak Sando. The Egg Sando was very lack luster, no flavor, just mush. Not even a hit of salt or their secret sauce was heavily lacking. The Steak Sando had more flavor, but maybe my husband wasn't a fan of the onion jam? It gave it flavor and the steak was cooked nicely and juicy, but that was kind of it if youre just looking for a steak sando. I wanted to make my own review of the Egg Sando from everything ive heard and read. My husband's take is to always go with the Chicken Sando. Still even more wary of the Wagyu Sando combo at $99. Found Guyu Plus on Instagram and decided to check it out while I was in Vegas -- such a great little Chinatown find! It's a small, casual spot where you order at the counter and grab a seat at the long communal table. They're known for their Japanese-inspired steak sandwiches, including some more elevated Wagyu options. For around $25, my steak sandwich was excellent. They definitely don't skimp on the meat -- thick pieces of steak cooked beautifully medium rare, tender and flavorful. And the bread deserves its own shoutout. Thick, light and fluffy inside with a perfectly toasted exterior, it complemented the steak so well. Even the little sauce pipettes served right in the sandwiches were a fun touch. Service was friendly, the restaurant was clean and modern, and everything was quick and easy. It's also a nice excuse to explore Chinatown and take a break from the craziness of the Strip. I was excited to try this Japanese style sandwich/rice place in Chinatown but was left disappointed. I don't know if its because I've been spoiled by all my Japan visits and so my bar is unrealistically high. One of the first signs you see at the counter is a 8% service charge just for dining in! Staying in Vegas for a few days and definitely wanted to try a few places recommended to me by my algorithm. One of these places is Gyu+ (or on Yelp, Gyu Plus), which offers a variety of Japanese sandos which are a unique offering in the US --- and even on the Vegas food scene. I arrived 3-minutes prior to opening, and (I assume) the worker was so kind and let us in --- even though the floor was still drying from a good mop. He explained to us the most popular items --- what was the best cost-effective option, etc. A great guy, tbh. We decided to get the Lulu Sando Box ($46.99), which comes with a variety of their favorite sandos: the steak sando, the spicy chicken katsu sando, and the egg sando. Individually, the total would be close to $50, so your roughly saving a dollar and some change per sandwich. Also, I had to get their Potato Chips. WHY? Because it had togarashi. I love togarashi (a Japanese chili powder) and rosemary as a unique flavor combination. While we waited for our order, the owner showed us the backroom of the restaurant which was gorgeous. It was decorated with beautiful artwork and cherry blossoms on the ceiling. He told us that on some evenings, it is used as a speak-easy which makes total sense. ON TO THE FOOD! Egg Sando - I'm sorry --- nothing to write home about! It was beautiful, but lacked any depth or real flavor. Needed more salt and personally, a bit of hot sauce. It was all creamy, without any "egg"-depth. Steak Sando - This was delicious and perfection medium rare. It might freak out some people on appearance, but it was tender and served beautifully. 9.5/10 Spicy Chicken Katsu Sando - DING DING DING! Winner! This sandwich --- even after a 10 min. car ride was still crunchy and satisfying to eat. The slaw that accompanied it paired wonderfully with the spice of the sandwich. All-in-all, it all worked! lastly, the Togarashi Potato Chips - Again, I may be biased but these chips were a specialty and were amazing. Loved them, would have order 2x if given the chance. This place was fairly reasonable for the price I'd say. Though we did split between the 3 of us. We did their sampler that had 3 sandwiches: Steak, Spicy Chicken and Egg. They cut each sandwich into 3 pieces and prepared for each of us our own little sampler. Overall I thought each sando was flavorful. It's a toss up for me though between the steak and the spicy chicken. The chicken had a decent crunch to it so couldn't complain about that at all. The little sauce pipettes were cool too. However, we were able to catch the manager/owner who gave us a tour of the place, how there was a speakeasy in the back, and generally what they serve. He was SO sweet that he offered us flan and a voucher for chips for our next visit. It definitely made us want to come back because of the hospitality he provided. We ended up coming back the next day since my SIL and BIL were leaving that day and driving back to the Bay Area. We decided to come when Gyu+ opened and there was NO line yet. We were the first ones in line and we were able to get what we wanted. There is seating in the main room, which are high chairs. There is seating in the back of the restaurant as well. However, it is a smaller place so I wouldn't recommend large parties. They did mention they have another location open, but we ended up coming here since it was close to our hotel. I ended up getting the following: -1 Steak Sando $23.99 -1 Shrimp Sando $21.99 -2 orders of Togarashi Potato Chips (free, but $5.99 each usually) We got everything to-go since our SIL and BIL needed to have their rental dropped off by a certain time, so we ended up eating everything in the car. REVIEW OF EACH ITEM -Steak Sando - this was delicious! It had a savory sauce that were in pipets to squeeze out on top of your sandwich. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was tender! You didn't have to constantly chew the steak which I absolutely loved. The milk bread they used was fresh and soft, but lightly toasted. These are super filling, so I was only able to finish 2/3 halves. -Shrimp Sando - this was delicious! The shrimp patty itself was lightly crisp, but it was packed with flavor. It also had pipets of sauce which complimented everything perfectly. -Togarashi Potato Chips (free) - these were light, crisp, and airy! I really enjoyed having it with my meal since I was looking for something fried to pair with the sandwiches, and this did just that. -Vanilla Chantilly Flan (free) - I believe this also had a vanilla Chantilly cream and OH MY GOOOD. GYU is yet another restaurant that's currently being hyped up on social media. So as always, my curiosity was piqued. When I first arrived on a weekday morning, I was relieved to see that the line wasn't too bad, maybe because we arrived close to opening time. (But when I left, it was long. Like out-the-door long.) It was fairly quick to place an order, but surprisingly, they were already out of the veggie sandos, even though they just opened. Didn't know those were so popular? We ordered four items, but the cashier forgot to ring up one. No biggie, but we had to notify her, which she then had to create a separate ticket for (relevant later). It was also easy to find seating, as they have a dining room tucked in the back of the restaurant. Lots more space, and the vibes are pretty cool with the murals and cherry blossoms, too. Also, it's air-conditioned. I try to be as understanding and patient as possible when restaurants have a bit of a delay in serving their food. But after the 45-minute mark, I was a bit displeased. The two girls who ordered right before us already received their food, ate, and left. So we waited some more. I hope that this isn't the norm. And as I looked around the restaurant, everyone else was fiddling with their thumbs waiting, too! No one was eating. And at long last, some of our food finally came out. And to be honest, everything was really good and flavorful! My favorite was the chicken katsu sando, which was thick and crispy. Another fan favorite was the shrimp sando, which was like a shrimp patty of sorts. The egg was also pretty solid, but maybe a little mayo-heavy for my tastes. The final item we ordered, the rice bowl, came out later than the rest, as it was the ticket that got separated from the others. Again, not a huge deal, but not ideal for my dad, whose stomach was growling as he waited. Fortunately, he did enjoy his food. But overall, I had a rather mixed experience at GYU. This is a pretty solid Japanese sandwich spot featuring some fancy offerings (or at least midscale). We got the Lulu sando box (which comes with steak, spicy chicken katsu, and egg sando) and chef's box (rice bowl). This was a satisfactory meal for 4 people. The steak sandwich has onion jam so I really love this, plus the steak is pretty high quality (I don't even need to splurge for wagyu when this is already somewhat close to it for a fraction of the price). The spicy chicken katsu is also really good. Egg sando is like deviled eggs and it is a generous amount. The chef's box rice bowl is good as the steak is good quality. However, the rice is quite mushy and the meat/veggies to rice ratio is poor, so you are paying $26 for a lot of rice. The lady at the register was so nice and went through the menu. I got the egg sando. The bread looks thick but it's soft and a bit sweet. They toast the inside a bit enough to give it a small crunch. The egg sando was creamy but a little under seasoned compared to the steak. There's indoor and outdoor seating available and the staff were very helpful. I do wish though that they had a smaller sample tray available. The closest thing they have to a sample tray is the "Lulu sando". This is the definition of taste of Japan. Took me back to when I was in Japan eating egg sandwiches daily! The staff was so friendly. The line went out the door when I was there on a Saturday during lunch time. Waited about 15 minutes and completely worth the wait. The staff would come in and out thanking everyone for their patience, in which I appreciate the acknowledgment in the heat! They were doing the fastest they can, and by the time I ordered, probably took 5 mins to get the sandwiches out! The boss, I presumed, came out and gave us our sandwiches. Super nice and friendly. Even came back around to see what are thoughts were on the food! The place looks small but there is a cute back with cherry blossoms and lofi music that makes the vibe of the restaurant, so don't be fooled that the front is the only place to sit! It was more of a B+ than an A+. Gyu Plus is a fun casual eats spot that also has a social lounge on some nights. I was here for lunch though, and the latest Las Vegas Weekly coincidentally had just run a feature on them and particularly their egg sandwich. It sounded a little more doable than the more famous steak version since I was in a Chinatown crawl of sorts, so I went for it. The Egg Sando ($11.99) does look and taste appealing. It's lightly sweet shokupan (Japanese milk bread) toasted on the interior-facing side, a thick layer of egg salad, and a jammy egg with vibrant orange yolk. Despite the obvious visual appeal, the flavors were a little on the bland side. I could've used a touch of mustard or something zesty to jazz it up. Fortunately, I also ordered their Togarashi Potato Chips ($5.99), which are excellent on their own or when used in every bite to enhance an Egg Sando. These chips are very crispy, fatty in a great way, lightly spicy, and even more complex when you can get a bit of rosemary into your mouth. The Passion Fruit Mango Juice (~$7?) was great when sipped around the same time as enjoying the sandwich (either hot and fresh or more room temp later that evening), but a little odd and bland when sipped for several consecutive strawfuls on its own. The mango stands out much more than the passion fruit, which I expected to add noticeable acidity. I would likely go with with soda or even plain water next time. Service was good, with the employees and even someone whom I believe is the owner checking on me multiple times during my visit. That gentleman also helped me pack my unfinished food to-go after I called it quits. I will have to come back to Gyu Plus to try out the Steak Sando, a rice bowl, or maybe even that night menu. I had Gyu Plus back in the day and so glad to see they moved to a new spot and the quality and taste is still there!! :) The shokupan bread is a fluffy pillow of yumminess that cradles the steak with onion jam....YUM!!! These sandos are perfect for half and halfing with your eating buddy too!! Also, you got to get the togarashi chips! You see a heaping stack of them when you order, so how can you not?! I went here because of Instagram. I've watched a lot of influencers. Go to this place rave it up. A lot of the sandwiches were sold out. I couldn't try the one with the sea urchin and caviar, but we ordered the regular Wagyu one the chicken Katsu one and they were good The Wago was very tender had a very strong beef meat taste if you know you know, and the Katsu was crispy with a juicy inside. The coleslaw helped the contrast of it being fried gave it a light feel. I wish I could've tried the more popular ones but they were sold out the inside it's a very small restaurant. I guess they have like a speakeasy in the back on Thursdays, which would've been cool but the waiter was extremely helpful kind but like I say, give it a try when you decide read more

I go the spicy katsu Sando at Guy Plus. It was pretty good, but I didn't love the sauce/seasoning. I was hoping it could be spicier, but it was on the sweeter side for me. Service was friendly though. There's only one long table for dining in so you'll have to share space with other customers for lunch. read more
