Very fancy pants. You don't need to come in a suit and tie or anything, but you can just tell by the crowd. My friend and I's entrees were very tasty and fresh. I got the salmon. I remember we got some sort of bread appetizer that everyone raves about. Though everything was good, the prices were crazy for these dishes, especially things like roasted artichoke! My friend and her family rave about the fried fish sandwich, but they were out when we went. Service was good. It's wonderful to be quickly seated and find a great spot outdoors. We were greeted and escorted to our table warmly, which matched the beauty of the day. I ordered the fried oysters and my husband, the Rosemary biscuits. Because the fried oysters are so hearty and delicious, I opted to not order an entree. However, my husband ordered the Mustard short ribs, which are phenomenal! As a complement, the kale salad was great. The food here is wonderful! So why just three stars you ask? The table service! The server took a long time to ask for our order (and it wasn't busy); the food was delivered to our table of dirty dishes which could have been removed by the attendees for water service and delivery of entrees. If I have to stack plates to signal the server to clean the table or look with expectancy to make space for the food, that's a bad sign, and shows great room for improvement. All in all, I will be back! The ambience: casual and sunny is just the right mixture for delicious food. TIP: watch out for the loose concrete tiles at the walk-up! You don't see it, but it moves when you step on it...I learned that when I tripped on it, entering the building. read more

SO sad that after so many years of not having a corkage fee they now added a $15 corkage fee! I decided to bring my friend here as she had never been here before. We had just gotten our nails done near by so our spirits were high. I've been here several times throughout the years. I usually sit by the bar area and have a great time. Everyone was friendly from the start. That was until... Kayla P. Was assigned as our server. Terrible attitude! Was aggressive when handling our food. Only smiled once-can you guess when? You got it! When the bill came. I still tipped her 15% only with hopes that the tip is distributed among the other servers and staff. I really regret tipping her and not speaking to a manger because her behavior was unacceptable. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. I'm sticking to Houston's. Based on others reviews, it seems like the service is a hit or miss here. Shame. This time I came with a friend and we sat for dinner. We ordered the biscuits which were basic. Lucille's has better biscuits. The shoe string fries were just okay. Above and beyond! This place does it right! My boss took the office for lunch here ... the first thing I notice is how absolutely gorgeous the architecture and decor are. The exterior walls have imprints of shells; there are rusty, nautical items hanging; funky, retro-chic bulb lighting; lots of wooden fans. It's this rustic, airplane-like interior design with beautiful skylights. Then you see the staff preparing food, and it all kinda feels like you're in heaven. The service was spot on. Like Houston's, this sister restaurant uses a team so that you're iced tea is always full and you never have empty plates on your table. Brilliant. I tried the fried oysters, which were interesting ... Iol. I had a tuna salad platter. I only wish it were a raw tuna kind of thing, but I got mixed up. It was still yummy. And we tried a fish dip, guacamole and hummus with toast. It was all perfect and homemade. Even down to dessert. We tried the tres leches, which came with sliced bananas and caramel drizzle. And the iced cream sundae, which came with a gravy boat on the side full of chocolate! Both with homemade whipped cream. Damn. As I'm not a steak guy, I definitely prefer this to Houston's. Normally I take a crabcake recommendation outside the state of Maryland with trepidation. This recommendation however came from a former fellow Terrapin and Ocean City compatriot. The crabcakes were good!, full of lump crab meat with little breading and pan fried to perfection. The accompanying standard coleslaw was excellent. I am a huge fan of the Hillstone restaurant group. The food is consistent and I know I can count on those flavors I know and love in their restaurant locations anywhere from Colorado to Wine Country to Orange County. While each restaurant may have some unique dishes, the dip trio and artichoke are always my families go-to starters. This time, the dip trio included guacamole, hummus and smoked trout...all served with toast points. The biscuits are good and its just icing on the cake that they serve them with the "bear honey" (to me, honey is not honey unless it comes in a bear bottle). For my entree I tried the rotisserie chicken (always good) and the burrata caprese. After relaxing out back we our server came to get us for our table. We had the heavenly biscuits to share. I had the ahi tuna special with shoe string fries - my dining partners had the chicken dish and the other had the ahi tuna with rice. Overalll our meal was lovely, we didnt stay for dessert though. My impression was that Gulfstream is like a Houstons and from what i've heard its the same owners/ management group. I haven't noticed Gulfstream before as it's tucked away in the corner of this shopping plaza. My family brought me here to celebrate my birthday and the result was an enjoyable dining experience. We were seated promptly and our waitress was very helpful in answering questions about the menu. I ordered the Sunday fish special which was two lightly breaded fillets of sole fish, cole slaw, and sliced cherry tomatoes. I also added a side of their french fries. Everything on the plate was delicious, although I think the sides overshadowed the fish. I look forward to coming back again and trying something off their entree menu. read more

We meet a couple from out of town and a local here the other night. My local friend is a regular here and often herfs (smokes cigars) out on the back patio area with other locals. The back patio area has several fire pits and is quite cozy. Along with fire pits there are nuclear strength propane heaters which provide more than enough warmth, even for our visiting Las Vegas friends. We were the first to arrive and not being familiar with Gulfstream I was unaware that there were two patios. The front patio only seats groups of 4 or less. Once I discovered the back patio was more of a campfire setting we headed out there. After everyone arrive we enjoyed wine, beer, cigars and appetizers (no entrees served on the back patio). Apps were fantastic, service was good, but this was a Saturday night and we were mostly drinking so we didn't really need any special attention. The waitresses made sure we had ashtrays and also emptied them as needed. Gulfstream is a great setting and definitely worth the drive from Pasadena, yes, Pasadena. I can't comment on the full menu but will defiantly be back to herf with V and his boys. read more

Waited 1.5 hours for a table, no problem, placed our drink & food order , took her over half hour to bring our drinks . We asked where the drinks are , next thing we see a manager comes to our table and asks us "stop being racist to the waitress"? We were beyond shocked , we all said you must have the wrong table! Something is seriously wrong with them to wrongfully accuse their dining clients when they are the ones mistreating their customers. All we did was asked for our drinks and more sauce for the cold fries . The food was cold , drinks , mediocre, service staff beyond horrible . What a mistake !!! Holy moly what an excellent and memorable dinner!! I tried their special which was the New York strip and my son had the fillet. Both were perfectly seared with flaky sea salt, spongy in the middle (rare for my son, medium rare for me) and gotta say best steak experience thus far ( comps: r chris, m_rtons, side cut at whistler BC etc etc ). The mashed potatoes were freaking awesome and the broccolini perfectly blanched and tasty with just the right amount of smoky cheese flakes and salt. Paired with a new-to-me 2016 Napa Valley Mi Sueno (el llamo )..... can't get better than this!! We will be coming again! Our waitress was super helpful and very attentive. I recommend starting with the grilled artichoke or the trout dip. Both amazing. Everything on the entree menu is good I have tried almost everything. My husband and I have loved Gulfstream for years! The food and service is always excellent! Saturday evening pushed them way over the bar! I ordered their clam special and awhile later the waitress apologized that they had run out. No problem, I ordered another meal. The manager, Louis Henkel, came by personally and apologized and said he'd comp my meal. We were very grateful. Then, after I received my meal, my husband didn't get his meal. So when Louis came back around and inquired on how our meal was going, we told him we're still waiting on a dinner. He apologized profusely and delivered the meal personally and comped the ENTIRE bill... drinks and food! And gave us a gift certificate to come back! Talk about customer service!! Thank you Louis and our sweet waitress we had that evening! You guys never fail to impress! We'll be back..... soon! read more

Typically great Hillstone Group food and service (and they have Anchor Steam on tap). The fried oyster appetizer is amazing, even if you don't think you like Oysters, you will probably like these. Batter is VERY light, and the oysters are are quickly fried so they come out light and fresh, not heavy or greasy. The patio is a great spot for a glass of wine but can get very crowded most nights of the week/end. Later on Sunday nights it's usually pretty empty and sitting next to the fire pit is a nice place to wrap up the weekend. Be sure to bring your pocket book though because this place ain't cheap! read more

I really wanted to like Gulfstream, so I'm bummed! First experience with waiter, I ask about what kind of Oysters they have, since it's their specialty. They apparently aren't serving oysters right now because their vendors selection "isn't up to their high standards" humm...ok. Well the menu is small anyway, and there goes the option for my appetizers so we get the dip trio and and smoked salmon. Those at the table who enjoy smoked salmon liked this dish, I'm not a fan so I went for the dip.Ok, gross. Who puts guac, chicken salad, and hummus together? The chicken salad was gross, and the guac was ok, hummus was good. I would have rather enjoyed a big bowl of hummus and bread rather than all that other nonsense. I ordered for my entree (ok, the menu is wayyy small here) the crab cakes. They were just ok. Again, I'm picky about crab because I used to live in Maryland. No fillers which is nice, but the mustard sauce it's served with totally look away from the crab cakes for me, and left them with a bit of a funky taste. Dessert saved the day for me. 5 stars for the hot fudge sunday I had, best in my life! French vanilla bean ice cream was amazing, who thought to combine the two?! The Belgian chocolate sauce, can you really go wrong? I love that they give it to you on the side so you can pour it on yourself. O, and I scrapped the container it was served in as well. We passed it, and thought it looked like a good place to stop for dinner. I would suggest making reservations. It was REALLY busy. We lucked out, as two spots at the bar were available as we walked in. We had the jumbo shrimp as an appetizer and they were HUGE. Like larger than large JUMBO shrimp and absolutely delicious. I think they need to make the serving 6 shrimp versus 5 though to keep it even between two people :-) Hopefully, management reads this! For dinner, we both had the Salmon and that was delicious too. I would say it was about an 6-8 oz portion. I even had a little left over to bring home for the next day :-) The wine was good. The service was on point.
