I was here 8 days ago and had to come back with my friends - food is so delicious...Service by Tiffany was impeccable - she was so kind and gracious to us ladies. Love the restaurant decor and atmosphere. The only problem was the noise level - we were settled in the bar and it was noon and very loud - but as the noon hour rush hour ended - we could again hear ourselves!

We love coming here when the weather is nice because we enjoy sitting at the outdoor/ patio area on a nice sunny day than the inside. Service is always good and so far we've enjoyed everything we've ordered from here. Oysters are in season so it's available again in their menu. Had half a dozen and it was good! Had their biscuits that's flaky on the outside, warm, soft and buttery in the inside with some honey. Also had their wedge salad and wood grilled ribeye! All delish with a nice outside view to boot!

Such a buzzy place to be for a weeknight early dinner. The hostess managed to sit us (for two) by the bar counter which was fine. Happened to chat a bit with a next sit mate who'd go the Gulfstream on a regular basis. So that encouraged us it should be a swell of a restaurant. We had the Cashew Chicken Curry served with rice, herbs and lime together with a side dish of Bell Peppers with feta cheese. Sounds simple but surprisingly this combo was very good. The other dish we had was Knife and Fork Ahi Tuna Burger. It was alright. I thought it was bland even with the sauce that came with it. The ahi tuna was barely there. On the menu it mentioned a choice of coleslaw or fries. Funny the waiter never asked which one we wanted. It came with vegetables that you'd mix in a burger. That was a letdown. Ambiance was a nice touch of Southern California style... outdoor dining and oak interior.

OC is my home but IN is my new home. So when we come back we love to come here. The great? Our server Courtney who was friendly and attentive. Ambiance was on point for a busy Saturday evening. Reso at 7p, we got there early and sat outside on the cocktail patio. Kate one of the servers outside was OUTSTANDING and never stopped moving. She was soooo outgoing and handled the extremely busy section with ease and grace. I got a virgin Bloody Mary with blue cheese stuffed olives. Absolutely yummy. Once seated inside we immediately ordered the heavenly biscuits and I got the Caesar salad that was outstanding bc it had corn and ample dressing the the soft and crunchy croutons. I could eat just those lol. I got the ruby red trout and since they were out of Dover sole, my hubby got the crab cakes. We both got the wild rice with almonds. It came COLD which I wish we would've known. It was not his cup of tea. The crab cakes he said were not hot but not Cold. A little bit of a let down. Would love to see a more varied dessert menu. Only had lemon meringue which is such a specific choice, hot fudge sundae (basic) and tres leches. Add a creme brûlée or butter cake please! Or something appley. Will be back but prob will call ahead to make sure Dover sole is available.

While it has long been a neighborhood staple, I only recently discovered it through fellow food lovers. Even on a midweek evening, the restaurant was buzzing, and the staff noted it gets significantly busier as the weekend approaches. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and casual comfort. While the entire staff is welcoming, the bartenders truly steal the show. They are incredibly attentive, managing to provide lightning-fast service to bar guests while flawlessly crafting drinks for the main dining room. The menu offers an excellent surf-and-turf mix, catering to both adventurous diners and those seeking elevated casual classics like burgers and sandwiches. I opted for the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, which were excellent. Seared beautifully on both sides to highlight the crispy breadcrumbs, they were packed with fresh, generous portions of crab. The serving size is incredibly filling; honestly, a single crab cake could easily make a meal. When I wasn't thrilled with my initial choice of coleslaw, the bar staff didn't skip a beat, swiftly swapping it out for a side of delicious whipped potatoes. I'm surprised Gulfstream wasn't on my radar sooner, but it is a superb spot with a great vibe and a friendly crowd. I learned it's part of a larger, highly regarded restaurant portfolio, and I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu. I suggest that you make a reservation or arrive before 5:00 PM to snag a prime seat at the bar! Enjoy.

Booked one of our favorite spots in NPB for my husband's birthday dinner. We had a 6:30 reservation so popped in a little early to grab a drink at the bar. We ordered two dirty Tito dirty martini's from Talia and explained how we prefer them made. Talia understood and delivered the perfect martini's. Super friendly and very attentive. For dinner, our server was Sara who was very good. Very attentive and never left us waiting for service. We started with the grilled artichokes which are only available in season. We love the aioli dipping sauce. I ordered the Mustard Barbecue Beef Ribs with Cole slaw. These fall off the bone ribs are so delicious! I love the mustard sauce. The Cole slaw is made with mayo, just the way I like it so I really enjoyed my meal. $37 My husband ordered the Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes. He said the salmon was cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. $38 We also ordered a side of the French fries. Served hot and crispy. Yummy. $8 Just a note, Gulfstream has gone cashless. Gulfstream continues to be one of our favorite dining spots in the NPB area and has never disappointed us.

Had the greatest experience on Thursday night (9/3/26) with Riley as our server. Her service was 100 out of 10 and everything came out top tier. Thank you, Gulfstream and Riley!

Make a reservation if you have 4 people or less. Otherwise you may have to wait to even about 3 hours. We were blessed to have gotten a same day reservation as someone must have cancelled. There are plenty of parking spots outside. I had ordered the trout dish with coleslaw as well as the heavenly biscuits. The portions of the trout were huge!! Flavor was delicious. The rest of the family ordered the short ribs and the Dover sole which was just as amazing as well. They do have policy in clothing and shoes on their website. We made sure we dressed up a bit. Ambiance was romantic.

My wife and I stopped by here for dinner and despite it being very busy (a good sign), we were able to get two seats at the bar counter when there was a last-second cancellation. It's a slick-looking, well-designed space with a well-dressed crowd. I ordered the cashew chicken curry with rice and a side of roasted bell peppers and feta cheese and my wife ordered the "knife and fork" ahi tuna burger. My dish was great: a creamy, flavorful curry with nicely prepared rice. I lived in Asia for over twenty years and it's not Asian in any way, but it worked as a dish nevertheless. The side dish of roasted bell peppers was excellent. The reason for the 3-star rating is the "knife and fork" ahi tuna burger, which was completely off. The menu describes the ahi tuna burger as follows: "pan-seared, served with fries or coleslaw (limited)." My wife, who always finishes her meal, only finished about half of the ahi tuna burger before giving it to me to finish while she took my curry dish. The ahi tuna wasn't pan-seared. It was like mushed, mashed tuna that was breaded with some sort of crust on top. It was unlike (in a bad way) any ahi tuna burger I've ever had. No French fries or coleslaw were served with the dish (which the bartender didn't alert us to). Instead, the dish had lettuce, onions, sliced tomato, and pickles as if it were a burger, but it wasn't one. When I searched the plate for the top part of the bun, there wasn't one so I had to eat the lettuce, onions, tomato and pickles on their own. It was a complete letdown as a dish and it was very different than what the menu described the dish as being. A restaurant this popular and well-established should do better than that. And the bartender, who was familiar with the dishes, should have stepped in and made it right.

One of our favs. Mustard beef ribs with wild rice. Also cheeseburger with fries. The crispy fish sandwich is also good, just not available on Sundays. Oysters good when in season. All are yummy and good flavor. Kitchen looks organized and seems to run like a well oiled machine. Waitstaff are friendly and helpful. Verdict - yes, do try this place and come back often! A well established resto that has a good ambiance and good crowd to boot!

What isn't there to love about a Hillstone? The service is always top tier, and you can always expect to have an incredibly rich meal and delicious drink. On this visit, we stopped in for cocktails on the patio, but then decided to put our names down for a table to grab a meal. We split the mango salmon salad (incredibly fresh), and a couple of other sides. On past visits, I've been fortunate enough to have tried the clam chowder. All I can say is that you need to order it.

Classics, Comfy and Cool! Always my go to place for a fantastic Bev + Bite when near fashion island or passing through Corona Del Mar. Gulfstream is amazing... consistent food program with a excellent menu having something for everyone. Dialed bar area and drinks. A lovely outside dinning section. The service / hospitality is top notch. Big shout out to our server Madison who was awesome. Please come support this stellar spot.

We had a small girl's dinner here and from start to finish it was such a positive experience. Emily is that definitely that girl. She was such an excellent server, and we wished she could sit with us and join us for dinner and drinks. Great service + great food all around. We ordered the biscuits, clam chowder, ribs, dover sole, caesar salad, fries, coleslaw, and lime meringue pie. For drinks the paloma (not on the menu) is a great choice. Less sweet and refreshing. I think we could've done without the pie. But the rest of the food was very tasty, presentation was clean, and service was quick, not rushed, and all around it was such a treat. Interior was pretty and there was a dim lit vibe which is much appreciated.

    Ask the Community - Gulfstream

I would like to have a party of 6 for dinner?

Gulfstream doesn’t take party of 6. I think their limit is 5

Can 8 of us do happy hour there?

Yes absolutely. They will accommodate you.

Is it possible to come just for drinks and an appetizer or two?

Yes. Bar area is open seating (you may still have to get on the waitlist.) and outside area back patio and fire place area serves drinks and appetizers

    Tres l ches?

They do not seat parties larger than 5- yes it is a very annoying rule. Not even families with 4 kids + 2 parents are allowed.

Do they still allow smoking of cigars on the patio outside?

Yes, I've seen people with pets and smokers on the patio outside. Seems like more casual outside. Also, I've seen people with shorts and flip flop in the restaurant as well

What is the dress code here?

Typically business casual or nice shorts and polo shirt for men.

Can you guys please bring back the jumbo lump crab cake entree? It was the most popular entree and having it on the salad is really not comparable.

Yess!! I miss this dish so much!!

    Do they have Happy Hour?

    Unfortunately no.

When will you guys bring back your best menu item: jumbo lump crab cakes?

They actually do have them it's just served with a salad now.

Why can you not reserve a patio table? Also, are your servers and staff vaccinated and wear masks?

This is OC not LA we don't talk about peoples private health in the open.

Do you still serve crab cakes?

They only give you one and it's served with a salad

Can we have a wedding reception for about 50 people on a Friday night in November?

I would definitely call them right away and ask.

I have some friends coming into town next week and we'd like to meet at Gulfstream for a drink/snack. Do we need a reservation or will we be able to grab an outdoor table at 5:15 pm?

Even at 5:15pm this place is packed inside and out. I highly recommend a reservation.

What's up with the cigars? Everything else about this place looks amazing but I don't really want to be near anyone breathing cigar smoke into my food :/

The best of my knowledge there was an outdoor area in the past before Covid dedicated to people I wanted to have a cigar and a drink but the outside area while I was there is currently being utilized for additional space for diners only no smoking.

Are reservations required for a party of 2 on a Saturday?

    Definitely, very popular place.

I saw the dress code says no tank tops. Is this true for women's formal blouse tanks or is this targeted at casual tank tops only?

Casual tank tops is what they are trying to prevent.

Corkage fee? Found out the new policy is $15 a bottle

Hi N.W. That is correct: we charge $15 per 750mL bottle.

Is there a happy hour? If so, when is it?

    Yes, it’s from 4pm - 7pm.

Is this a good place for a big group for birthday dinner? Im seeing mixed answers..

Hi Margi, thanks for thinking of us. Our largest reservation is for 5 people, which is the size of our largest table.

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes, it is wheelchair accessible. However, the limited outdoor seating is high top, so you would need to eat inside.

Decided to drive down to Newport for the day, wound up browsing the shops at Fashion Island, and…read morethen wound up having lunch at Great Maple, one of the better, sit-down restaurants at the center. It's a bright and airy venue, with thick, clubby stools at the bar and a dual, indoor/outdoor dining area that's just right for the coastal California locale. We arrived near the end of the lunch rush, so we were quickly seated by the friendly Hostess, though there were still plenty of folks eating, and a lively buzz was still thrumming through the room. It was just the right energy for a Saturday lunch. Our server, Darren, was a hoot, with a slight shimmy to his step and personality for days -- sometimes that can be a bit much, but in this case his charisma added a much appreciated charm to the meal. While we didn't imbibe at this sitting, they do have a full bar with a nice selection of cocktails suitable for brunch or dinner, and it's easy to imagine whiling away quite a few hours here at another opportunity. The menu offers a number of clever twists on brunch and lunch mainstays, especially house-made doughnuts and a few Benedicts that push all the buttons of "well, this is something appealingly different." That said, we were just tad boring today as diners, ordering a Burger and the house BLT. We may have made some ordinary-sounding decisions, but Great Maple's versions of these favorites were far from ordinary at all. The burger is made with high quality beef that has just the right amount of fat to make it juicy while retaining the integrity of the flavor of the meat. Cheese, veggies and a fresh brioche bun rounded out the presentation, as did a perfectly achieved pink medium rare. This was a very good, very satisfying burger served with crispy, shoestring fries that really hit the spot. The BLT is built on Levain sourdough that is thick-cut and lightly toasted, and holds up nicely against the moisture in the tomatoes and bright, leafy lettuce. Aioli had a noticeable but mild, and very enjoyable, garlic accent that played really well with everything, walking the line between "spread" and "dressing," and becoming a meaningful component of the sandwich rather than being just an adornment. But the star of the sandwich was the smoky bacon, cut thick enough to retain a pleasing chew while also boasting the kind of char and crisp that make for the most enjoyable bacon on a sandwich. Really, this was a terrific BLT, far above what you normally get, and, as I said before, not anywhere near as ordinary as you may think. So, a very good lunch at Great Maple, and very good reason to plan another visit very soon. Kudos to everyone.

The staff who assisted with seating and bringing silverware were also friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our dining experience declined once our order was taken. We ordered the Beets Salad as our starter, followed by the Chicken Piccata and Salmon as our entrées. The salad arrived within about five minutes, but we then waited nearly 40 minutes for our main courses without any acknowledgment or update. When I asked our waitress about the delay, her only response was, "Your order was fired 15 minutes ago." When I asked why it had taken so long, she simply repeated the same statement. At no point did she offer a sincere apology or show any empathy for the extended wait. As someone who has owned and managed businesses, I know that delays can happen. However, a simple apology and proactive communication can make all the difference in how guests perceive the experience. The food itself was excellent, and both entrées were well prepared. Unfortunately, the service continued to disappoint. After we finished our meals, our waitress immediately cleared our plates and brought the check without asking whether we would like dessert, coffee, or anything else to finish our evening. That was surprising and made us feel rushed. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that every business can have an off night. In this case, however, the issue was not the kitchen delay--it was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic hospitality. Had our waitress simply apologized, kept us informed, or involved a manager, this review likely would not have been necessary. I hope management views this as constructive feedback. Andrea and several other staff members represented the restaurant exceptionally well, but I believe additional customer service training would help ensure that situations like this are handled with greater professionalism and care in the future.

I told my man we don't need to order anymore because we had plenty. Just make sure when ordering you have them read it back not to miss anything. The clam chowder was good, could've had more clam but came out piping hot, which I know is an issue sometimes at places like this. My son got the tuna melt and couldn't finish his potato chips. We came to True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach for Sunday brunch a couple of weeks ago, and we had…read moresuch a great experience from beginning to end! First, the location is incredible--the surrounding area and views are absolutely mesmerizing. And if you don't want to deal with parking, they offer valet for around $10, which for me is always worth it. I'd much rather pay the $10 and not have to worry about finding a spot! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest host. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was adorable and so welcoming. My son had forgotten his phone charger, and she even let him borrow one so he could charge his phone. It was such a small gesture, but those are the little things you remember. We decided to sit at the bar, which is beautiful and very clean, and we were immediately greeted by Sarah. Nowadays, it feels rare to find that old-school kind of customer service--someone who genuinely makes you feel welcome and seems happy to take care of you. Sarah was exactly that. She walked us through the menu, shared some of her favorite recommendations, and paid attention to all the little details. She made me a delicious coffee with cinnamon, exactly the way I like it. She got it down perfectly! My son was also recovering from having a little too much fun the night before , and Sarah recommended a recovery juice that he absolutely loved. We both ordered the Ranchers Hash, and it was DELICIOUS. What I especially appreciated was the portion size. So many times you go out for breakfast or brunch, eat way too much, and spend the rest of the day regretting it. This felt like the perfect balance--fresh, wholesome ingredients, great flavor, and a portion that actually leaves you feeling good afterward. I also have to mention Steven, who was working alongside Sarah. The two of them make a great team. Their personalities and energy balance each other really well, and both were incredibly kind and attentive. You can tell when a restaurant has good team morale because it translates directly into the customer experience. Everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy working together while still providing fast, prompt, attentive service. The restaurant itself is beautiful and clean, the food was excellent, and the service was wonderful--but the highlight of our visit was definitely Sarah. She made what could have simply been a nice Sunday brunch feel memorable. We will absolutely be back. Thank you, Sarah, Steven, our sweet host, and the entire True Food Kitchen Newport Beach team for such a wonderful experience!
