Went on August 9th for a 1:00 reservation. Seated at a large booth, there were 3 of us for lunch. Shared smoked salmon appetizer which was a very large portion and more than we could eat. Ordered 6 biscuits, which was 3 too many because they were big, too! Split the chopped vegetable salad, was plenty for 2 especially with the appetizer and the biscuits. Honestly forgot what the other dish was, but my friend said it was excellent as well. That vegetable salad was DELICIOUS!!!! I cannot remember when I have had such a different, fresh and multi-flavored salad. We were never rushed, and actually spent more than 2 1/2 hours chatting. Well, I was surprised to hear of it , I also appreciated a maximum of four parties per reservation, making our experience feel more private and intimate. I had the oysters. FOOD- Since this is the main reason for checking any eatery out. I have many friends and clients who rave about this place do my husband and I met for a weekday lunch date. We ordered the biscuits, and as all reviews state they are very good. The tall and petit tower of flaky dough is pretty to look at and heavenly to taste. Served with cold butter and a local honey to accompany. I wish the butter had been room temp or whipped. The cold butter does now spread easily. Artichokes were char grilled with spices on them. They were good and came with a Remoulade. This was more of a grainy mustard concoction. I love mustard but this was too grainy and vinegar tasting for the artichokes. We had to try the oysters. They were delicious! I wish our server knew where they came from or the name of them. Main course Dover sole came very lightly breaded. It was delicious! It came with a tartar sauce that was reminiscent to the artichoke remoulade. Too much Dijon grain mustard. Side was coleslaw which was bathed in a sauce. Not to our taste. Ahi Tuna Burger came on a bottom bun with tomato, iceberg lettuce, red onion & thousand island dressing. The ahi is chopped and comes on a perfect round patty. There is no top to this burger which I found strange. It comes with fries or slaw. I would order the fries since the coleslaw is too wet for my liking. Not on the menu but since I had read about it ordered the Tres Leches cake. Divine and big enough to share with 2-4 at your table. It comes with fruit, whipped creams and Carmel drizzle. Show stopper!! Service was nice. Our server was professional but not exceptional. She knew the menu to what was on it but didn't really know the food. When I asked about the oysters she repeated what was in the menu. As I understand oysters, have a region there from and the name given to them to distinguish from different oysters. But perhaps I'm wrong.? When asked about the tuna burger she repeated the condiments but not how it is plated. My biggest complaint would be she put our entire order in at one time. All the appetizers came out at once and our entrees came before we finished the appetizers. It was a cluster of dishes. It gave a "turn and burn" feel to our lunch. The best service and touch is the genuine welcome the Hostess gave us. I especially appreciated when we sat down her asking if we would like something to drink. Highly recommend the biscuits, Barbecue beef ribs, cheeseburger, crab cakes and seared tuna salad. Drinks are also so good, with our favorite being The Crush and Gulfstream refresher. Both are so refreshing! Service is always on point here, never have to wait for anything too long. Servers always check in at the right time. It's a meat and seafood place and really not much to offer you if you're a vegetarian or vegan. My husband had the ribs. It looked really good. I took my wife to GULFSTREAM to celebrate our 56th wedding anniversary on a Monday morning for a brunch. We arrived just as the restaurant opened. Our server Tatiana was extremely pleasant and we were seated on the patio. Tatiana was engaging and brought us some drinks, coffee for my better half and iced tea for me. Our appetizer order that was suggested by Tatiana was the artichokes and a shrimp cocktail for me. The artichokes 3 halves which we shared were broiled and seasoned wonderfully. My 5 large prawn shrimp and the accompanying cocktail sauce was deliciously cold and fresh. My wife ordered the beef ribs and Cole slaw while I ordered the plank salmon. My salmon did not disappoint. The filet was cooked perfectly, a nice crust while flakey and tender inside. A side of broccoli complimented the delicious salmon. My wife enjoined her ribs and slaw but she could not finish but half of the large order. Again our server Tatiana was prompt, pleasant and very engaging. The soft Jazz music in the background for us was the perfect leitmotiv. Overall we had a beautiful brunch. Arriving early as we did on a Monday morning was great. It has been a long while since we visited Gulfstream. We had been disappointed with the service in the past so it has been a long time. We are so glad we gave it another chance. The ambiance has brightened up and the whole vibe is full of energy. Our server was Kelly and she was exceptional . Her attention to detail was spot on and some of the things she did were happily unexpected . She always had a smile and when approaching us for a question she bent forward to talk rather than standing back and being loud. That was a classy move. Our food was outstanding and prompt. Heads up it gets really busy, so make a reservation ahead of time because this place is packed no matter what time you go. We came by on a Saturday for an early dinner, and it was already buzzing. We kicked things off with our usual: the Smoked Trout Dip. It's got just the right amount of smokiness and balanced flavor it is such a solid way to start the meal. For my main, I went with the Red Trout and a side of Kale Salad. This combo is always a winner it is light, flavorful, and just consistently 10/10. My boyfriend went with the Dover Sole and also got the Kale Salad on the side. He enjoyed it, but mentioned he still prefers the flavors of the Red Trout overall. The dessert Sundae was a treat! I have brought not only personal business, but I have brought business associates from all over the country to this location last night, I am so disappointed in the pricing, and the quality of the food was absolutely a slap in the face. I've gone to just about every Hillstone owned restaurant and ordered the fillet of soul dish and last night I ended up bringing half of it home for my dog and I was taking the breading off today and it is literally 75% bread for $58. You guys have lost your Northstar at this point I don't see myself coming back or my family three people last night $450 with a tip I'm sorry you guys are out of sync with the rest of the restaurants in Newport Beach. read more

What I got was ground tuna that had a crust and it was pretty much raw-- no flavor. I took maybe 4 bites with a little sauce and then I got a whiff of a fishy smell and had to stop eating it. I should have said something to the waitress but I thought I was too picky!I know people like creamy coleslaw but too much mayo!!
