Gurley Leep...the car people you absolutely, positively cannot trust. I took my Nissan to the Gurley Leep Nissan dealership for three services...oil/filter change, differential service and transfer case service. I was quoted $79.54 for the oil/filter change, $199.95 for the differential service and $189.95 for the transfer case. Those were the prices on the tablet presented by my service advisor. When I went to pick up the car, the price was $671.66 ($621.66 after my labor discount from a coupon I presented at the write up). So, how in the world did I end up with a bill for $621.66, for what should have been about $470 + tax? They did not tell me until I picked it up that the quoted services were only for labor. The oil/filter change was correct at $79.54, but the actual price of the differential service was $256.04 (instead of $199.95) and the transfer case service was $246.04 (instead of $189.95). Then, to make things even more bizarre, there was "Misc. Charges" of $79.95! Add in the $10.09 in sales tax and you get $621.66. Misc Charges of $79.95??????? That's total B.S. and pure profit. And then, without telling me in advance, they applied another 3% for using a credit card (for a total of $640.31. WOW! All I can say is that Gurley Leep lacks price transparency and has NO integrity. But here' my message to Gurley Leep Nissan: you will NEVER see my car again. Instead, I will go to Tom Naquin Nissan (Elkhart) or Cole Nissan (Kalamazoo, MI). I've always known they were shady, but had to take my Nissan Cube to them for diagnostic testing for possible transmission problem anyway. what a racket, charged me $205 to tell me what I told them might possibly be wrong. They got the code and that was it, no other alternative fix, just an estimate of over $6000, the car is not even worth that retail. Because on top of the actual battery and labor, they charged me an additional $229 for a diagnostic fee! I have purchased THREE vehicles from there in the last two years, one of which was new off the line, ALL three had serious issues and required service within days or weeks of purchase. Our most recent purchase was a used Jeep Compass that was stated to have gone thru their "26 point" inspection, since buying it two months ago we have had to replace the tie-rods, front and back breaks that were so worn it ruined the calipers and rotors, i had to pay to have the tires balanced and several other items in the cars digital we are finding are not operational as well. I am so frustrated with this place. Their work is careless and sloppy. First time oil change on the new Nissan Sentra It came back no fluid flow on on the windshield. The service advisor said it would be fixed during my second visit. Second visit not fixed. He was dismissive, telling me I would have have another appointment unless I wanted to wait all day - each time refusing me a loner. Third back, many months later, because now they left off several bolts connecting wheel to steering & car feels more & more unsafe. Finally back fourth appt. since bolts have come in but they are keeping the car recognizing that steering doesn't feel safe, two days now and they don't know how long but are not giving me a loner. I am paying for this new lemon car and all the other extra vehicle coverage they had me take out with the car loan but I am stuck. Not good. Sad. read more

I had one the worst customer service experiences with Gurley Leep Nissan. I felt cheated and ignored by my salesman and members of the service department. However, during this long process of frustration, Mitch one of the finance managers was extreme kind, understanding and as helpful as he could be. I contacted Gurly Leep Nissan in regards to further customer service issues with the service department and reached out to Josh, the General Manager. Josh has been extremely helpful! The finance department misrepresented the "wrap around bumper to bumper warranty" when they omitted the fact that I would be financing an extra $3450 for said aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty. Only upon trading the vehicle in six months/3k miles later, did I find out I was in fact charged/financed for an aftermarket warranty. The general manager and the finance department both responded by stating; "well you signed the papers", I sent an email to the general manager requesting documentation of the "deal" on the vehicle and left a voice mail, no response. When the pay structure of the finance manager is incentivized (meaning they benefit financially) to up sell warranties, its no wonder they omit or misrepresent material facts. Had I known I was being charged for this extra warranty I would have declined. This is shameful behavior expected from a no name shady used car lot. read more

Was having problems with my older model Infiniti QX56. Took it to the service department where we met with very nice people however got a computer generated estimate for over $6000 worth of things that needed to be done on my car when I only needed to find out why the driver seat wasn't moving and the liftgate wasn't operating. $150 later I'm nowhere nearer to having it fixed. Again very pleasant sales people but ridiculous to pay that for an estimate. To top it all off when I got in the car to drive it away the steering wheel looked like someone with extremely dirty, greasy hands had not even bothered to wear gloves or wipe off the steering wheel after driving it. Wonderful dealership. They got me in the day that I called to have a few concerns looked at for a Nissan 370Z I purchased near Indianapolis. Lynn, the service manager was very helpful and personable and they looked my car over. Catherine, the shuttle van driver, recommended a nearby restaurant for me to eat at and she dropped me off and picked me up there. So nice ! When I returned to pick up my car, Lynn explained that they found nothing wrong with my car and she explained everything that they looked at. I was pleasantly surprised when I wasn't charged for the service !! I will be coming back for oil changes even though it's about an hour away from me. Keep up the good work !!! read more

Service center is a ripoff. Went in to get my Pontiac looked at. They quoted me almost $400 for a thermostat? Told them I wasn't going to pay 4x what it would cost elsewhere. They then charged me over $100 as a "service fee" to look at the car. No one said there was a charge for an "estimate" and no signs either. BEWARE! I purchased new Pathfinder Platinum in March of 2014. Since my purchase I have paid for $2700 in "maintenance." I felt like I was bullied into getting this work done. When it first happened I called and complained to Nissan but nothing was done. My average spend each visit was $187. The final straw was when I went in a few weeks ago and asked for "just and oil change" and was called by the service manager and told my serpentine belt needed to be replaced at $200. He told me it was cracked and made me feel like I would crash my car if I didn't do it. Of note, he has been the main person that has strong armed me into all these repairs. When I went to pick up my car the belt was not in stock and all the sudden it was not an urgent fix. I left that day on a mission to get out of that Nissan. I have since traded it in on a 2016 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum. I was happy to pay for any negative equity just to get out of this car and the ridiculous maintenance fees. I caution anyone on buying a Nissan, but if you do, do not get your maintenance done here. If I could give a negative star, I would. read more

First off, Lynne is always amazing and personable. She always remembers me and makes me feel at home. I love that. She is one of the only reasons I come to Gurley for oil changes. However, I only gave two stars for a couple reasons. Your service prices are absolutely ridiculous in comparison to other shops around the area. For example, your various system flushes are twice the price as most. The other reason is the fact that suggested additional maintenance is always not needed. There have been many times I have went for a second opinion on what has been suggested and have always been told that the additional suggested maintenance was completely inaccurate and unneeded. I want an auto shop that will be upfront and honest about the maintenance needed for my vehicle. Not an auto shop that essentially tries to upsell me service just to make money. It does not make me want to use Gurley for any other maintenance and most definitely does not make me feel comfortable using Gurley for anything for that matter. At this point, I surely would NEVER by a car from your dealership as you have made it clear that you're untrustworthy with your business practices. Once again, Lynne is great. read more

I had posted the below review on 11/30/15. Over 2 weeks after that Nathan Johnson the service manager called and told me that if I would delete the reviews that I had posted on several websites that he would give me a total refund (although I only wanted the amount I was over charged) and he gave me his word on that! I deleted all the postings that I could and on the rest I stated that the issue had been resolved. He said that he would call me when his IT guy had confirmed that. Well as of today 1/29/16 I still haven't heard anything from Nathan. So much for his "word". Original Posting: I purchased my car here 3 yrs. ago and had always been happy with their service until last week. I took it there to have an oil change and they called and said it was due to change the brake fluid and differential fluid. I was told the price would be $100 for one and $139 for the other. I told him to go ahead and do them. When I picked up the car the bill was $496. I was shocked. I asked the service rep and she didn't have a good answer as to why it was so high. The oil change with coupons was $4.95. I asked to talk to the service manager but was told he wasn't available and I had to get back to work. I called about an hour later and he still was unavailable so I left a message. He called me and said he would look into it and call me back. Well it's been 5 days and have yet been able to talk to him. I've called 8 times over the last 5 days and his employees have left messages and have even texted him. Please DO NOT go to Gurley Leep Nissan in Mishawaka. I have a 2014 Nissan Versa Note and have had ongoing issues with the heat shield. I went back again on Wednesday after much traveling the last month as it was loose and rattling again. I was told they couldn't fix it again as it had been repaired too many times. I thought I had had it replaced last year. The service manager quickly corrected me and said no that they had only repaired it as it was company policy to always repair when possible. I'm guessing until something is out of warranty. To put a new one on he said is around $800. Needless to say I left as I just couldn't afford that kind of repair. Today I found the repair slip from last year and they did indeed REPLACE the heat shield. I also found the same part on line from Nissan for $68.57. With more investigation I found that many owners of Nissan Versa Notes have had this same issue with similar outcomes, being told too bad, so sad. Not impressed with Gurley Leep for lying to me or with Nissan for not recalling something that clearly is such a problem. read more

WORST CAR SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I was car shopping recently and heard that Gurley Leep had a special going on to match your tax return check up to $3,000 so I went in to check out what they had. I saw a Kia Sorento I liked, but was told at first that it was out of my price range. The salesman ended up coming back saying they could make the numbers work so I took it for a test drive. The interior wasn't in good condition, with a spot on the dash ruined and the plastic on the back of the seats gouged in multiple spots. When we got back to the dealership, we got the run around with price. The salesman brought out the NADA retail price and we saw that Gurley Leep had the car listed $4000 ABOVE excellent retail price (which the car wasn't). After giving us the $3000 *discount*, but even after applying that discount, the car was still above suggested retail. We asked to see other cars because obviously this was not the right car for us, and the salesman kept giving us the run around. He went back multiple times and kept coming out with info on the Kia instead of showing us other cars (as requested). Finally, a manager came out, but we were ready to leave. When I got home, I ended up doing some research and found the exact same Kia (same year, better condition) listed for $8000 less at Gates. Gurley Leep jacked up their prices so they could con car buyers into thinking they were getting a good deal. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS DEALERSHIP. They are not honest at all. read more
