This is a new place so it seems they have a lot of room for improvement. They do have really nice staff and that is the best part of this restaurant. They have a really weird situation here where they have one bathroom in their space they reserve for staff while they want customers to hike down to the public restrooms that are a decent walk away. I tried one of their cocktails and didn't find it to my liking. I also had their cheeseburger with a side of mac & cheese. The cheeseburger was edible and alright but I've had way better burgers. The mac & cheese lacked any ooey gooey cheesy goodness and I just found it to be not worth eating. Stopped in here before a show at OWA. Nice ambience and staff. Local menu. Husband ordered the cheeseburger which was cooked exactly as ordered and delicious. I had the grilled shrimp basket. Both items were cooked very well and delicious. Proportions were as expected. Indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, the restroom is outside and around the corner. It isn't that big a deal. Many of the shops/restaurants refer guests to that public restroom. The wine shop across the way, the ice cream shop, the candy shop, & other businesses in and around that corner also states to use that public restroom. read more

New restaurant in OWA and I really wanted to like this place it has a nice ambiance but that's about all they have going for this new establishment. To start very disappointed that they have elected to make customer leave the store and go to the restrooms outside of the facility. So if it's raining you get wet etc just because they don't want to clean up after people use the restroom inside the facility. Secondly the food was bland and portions were very small you can tell by the portion in the carrier that they serve your food in just how lacking they were in relation to portions. I was absolutely blown away by the food here. Oh my god so yummy. I wasn't expecting anything special. I hadn't even planned on leaving a review here, but this place really deserves it. The quality of the food was SO INCREDIBLE and the taste was absolute PERFECTION. The food here bypasses what most restaurants serve. It almost feels like Gordon Ramsey himself was in the back cooking our dinner for us. Our waitress was very sweet and consistently made sure our drinks were filled. My family LOVED our dinner at Gussie's! We had originally planned to have sushi, but the restaurant was closed, so we headed next door. I was happy to see that it was family owned and operated, and it lived up to expectations. We started with beer battered onion strips and they were fresh and delicious! Crispy, yet light, which is hard to accomplish with deep frying. For dinner my son had a grilled cheese (big hit), my daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken which she loved, and my husband had a French dip sandwich which he said was delicious. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the hand cut mozzarella sticks. They were so yummy! A little salty, but pleasantly so, with a flavorful marinara sauce for dipping, and nothing like your bog-standard frozen mozzarella sticks. Fresh, giant pieces of real cheese. In addition, our server was extremely attentive and friendly. We never wanted for a thing or had to wait on anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So the bathroom is a short walk outside the restaurant - so what?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time we come to OWA we will be back at Gussie's. I want to start out by saying that we chose to eat here off of a whim. We had our 3 year old and 5 year old with us, and it was around 7pm. We walked in and were greeted by the owner and a host. They explained very kindly that they had just finished up a table of 30, and that it will be a while until they catch back up/ food wait time was about 40 mins. Having worked in restaurants my entire life, I understood and we decided to stay. The restaurant was still very busy with a steady flow of Our server HAD to be the sweetest human on the planet. She was beyond accommodating - every single server was. That is so rare. To keep a long story short- it was an amazing experience. The staff took time to talk to our kids and share some stories. At the end of the meal they brought out 2 quarter and a cup for each of them so they could get some skittles from the candy machine near the front door. That was their desert. HOW COOL! The food- Delicious. So much flavor. We started with the mozzarella sticks which are FRESH and hearty. The marinara is made from scratch and full of flavor. I walked into Gussies with high expectations because [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibe seems nice and it's a nice variety on the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great from the lady behind the bar and our server Stephanie. Me and my wife were indecisive so we decided to try 3 items, The patty melt, the grilled shrimp Bam Bam tacos, and the chicken alfredo. To start the patty melt was burnt on the inside of the toast providing a char taste to every bite of the sandwich, we were not asked if we wanted a specific temp on the burger so I assumed as patty melts usually are it would be well done wich it definitely was but was so much meat it made it so dry. The skin of the onions were left on makinthg them chewy and the thousand islands over powered the whole sandwich. The shrimp tacos were surprisingly good which I had hoped they would be because the only thing needed to cook was the shrimp, the Mac and cheese on the other hand was completely separated having the texture of cottage cheese and Maccaroni and had zero taste and was Luke warm. We stopped in for a quick dinner before a magic show. Everything was so good! We had two appetizers: the mozzarella sticks and the fried banana peppers. The mozz sticks were not the ones you normally get at a restaurant--they were definitely homemade and the size of egg rolls! They were out of this world--so good! The fried banana peppers--AMAZING! The batter was the right amount of crispy and salty! My 5 and 9 year old both devoured them! For our main meals, I had the pulled pork on Texas toast, hubs had the Big Daddy Bomber which he said was incredible! It was messy and he loved every bite! Both of my girls ordered cheeseburgers...high marks here too! They serve the big steak fries--my personal favorite type of fry. Top to bottom, a great meal with great service. Lunch for our group of eight. Very pleased with our food selections. I had the chicken tenders and they were tender and delicious, my sides were cheese grits and broccoli. Others had Cubans, French dip, burgers. Someone commented to owner that the Cuban might be better grilled panini style and she said oh please ask next time and we'd be happy to prepare that way. They are eager to fix it your way which is very nice. We all liked it very much. The restroom is the pubic Restroom for OWA, outside the restaurant but just a short walk. read more
