I found this place because I wanted an Uncle Lees Chinese meal a few doors up. But since I'm on the hunt for a good lamb gyro which will remind me of London I had to try it. The first time I was impressed. It was the closest I had found. The sauce was the only let down. It should be a yogurt sauce of some kind. Generally impressed on my first visit because the gyro was so reasonably priced at $7 The next time the lamb gyros were overly salty. Why? I find this alot at some restaurants. Pretty goood!! The meat just tastes fresher and more flavorful compared to Jones (which was my favorite gyro over rice spot in Houston). THE WHITE SAUCE IS JUST AMAZING! Only thing I did not like was the red sauce.. it was just Tabasco? It's clean and has ok customer service. The food though it delicious! I fav is lamb over rice with everything including the hot sauce. I've only had this and Halal Guys once, but from my experience, this place beats Halal Guys. There wasn't anything that great about HG, if the food was good, I'd remember it. But I vaguely remember it or liking it. Anyway, my bf and I came here and we weren't as hungry as we usually are so we shared a 'combo over rice' which had lamb, beef and chicken. It was a good amount for 2 ppl. Maybe a dollar or 2 more than HG but I think you also get a little more. And spicy sauce doesn't compare to how spicy HG's is. Came over here for their grand opening. Waited about 15 minutes for our food. Got the gyro sandwich and the lamb over rice. Food was fresh and came in a good portion size. Staff was friendly and helpful. I found both entrées a little salty but other then that it was good eating. I wish they had fountain drinks with refills as all that extra salt made me very thirsty. This place is literally the bomb! Forget about Halal Guys, Gyro King is where it's at. The chicken and lamb combo is so flavorful and delicious that I can eat it every day. Compare that to Halal Guys (Houston) which has absolutely no flavor at all and you will never go back. The service is real quick and I'd recommend asking for the white and red sauce on the side. That way you can put however much you want, whenever you want. The only complaint that I have to say is that the portions are on the smaller side. This food is so good that I want to be given a hefty portion! I also wouldn't recommend getting the gyro fries. They're just thick cut fries with gyro meat on them and no sort of dressing whatsoever. Has to be one of the best Mediterranean quick food joints in the Alief/ Sugar Land area, honestly, I have never been disappointed with the food, and the staff is always nice and has always gotten our orders right, The late night availability to get some great food is awesome too, not to mention they have clean restrooms, and are one of the better places to eat on this side of town. I've had Halal Guys a bunch of times and Gyro King is the same type of food. I actually prefer this better than Halal Guys. I feel like the meat is more flavorful and I like that the red sauce isn't just flaming heat and has a flavor. You do have to pay extra for more sauce, but its only about .50 packet and comes in a little sauce cup. Worth it for the extra sauce, I recommend! read more

I've been to this place a couple of times now. There combo plate is delicious. A combination of lamb/beef and chicken on top of there long grain aromatic, fluffy rice. Plus they add sides of shredded lettuce, chick peas, tomato and cucumber. Then smother everything with a yogurt based sauce to tie everything together. The saltines of the meat makes your mouth salivate while the rice and veggies balances out so it doesn't over power your taste bud. I definitely disagree with other reviews saying $9 is too much considering they give you enough food for two meals. I recommend getting the sauces on the side. They definitely give you enough sauce on the side to pour on as much as you want and how you want it. After having been to Halal Guys and many other gyro places in Houston, I can say that this place is my favorite. The meat here is definitely better than the others. I must say I had been meaning to try this place for the longest and after a nice workout at the gym I felt I deserved something good. I hauled butt to eat and when I opened the box I let out a little tear seeing how beautiful this food had been prepared. They serve in Togo boxes and fill the box up will over a cup of rice and LOADSSSS of lamb. The salad on the side that's given is the bomb!! The chicken over rice is the same price and according to my boyfriend it's something he's never tasted before. The chicken was very flavorful but it was on the dry side. They are very generous with their white sauce. The cashier will put however much you would like on it free of charge. The white sauce here is creamy yet mild in flavor. The red sauce is not at thick as other red sauces you find at other places. It has a thinner consistency with an almost hot sauce like flavor. The red sauce elevates the dish to another level. CONS: the meats are not freshly cut on the gyro. They keep the meats in separate containers like things you would find at a buffet. Other than that this place his definitely a favorite spot to eat. I was recommended by a friend to try the Lamb over rice and Gyro Fries Lamb over rice was like a 7/10 for me, fairly plentiful portions of lamb, rice was okay, could've been cooked better and side salad was reminiscent of a greek style salad. Gyro Fries were a nice quick snack, would love if the fries were a bit crispier and the hot sauce was actually more hot than it was tangy or sour. 8/10 I went once again to try the Lamb Gyro and I tell you, that and the gyro fries are were your money needs to be going. The gyro is a perfect balance with the meats and refreshing vegetables which mend together perfectly with the gyro sauce. personally i would mix their hot sauce with some Sriracha for some more bite.
