This store has a lot of stuff to look at and shop for. A good variety of Asian ingredients and fruits and vegetables. Weekends can get super crowded though! Sometimes fruits are not fresh and they try to hide blemishes by packing them when you cannot see the bad rotten parts. Not honest. The food court is great though. Lots of choices and and you sit comfortably to eat your meal. There are Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc... foods you can choose from. There is also a bakery in front of the food court area, Tous Les Jours. It's pricey though for the quality if you ask me. Not good. Overall, the market is decent and I'd suggest avoid weekends so it's less crowded. read more

I am a Latina who loves the Korean culture. HMart is my favorite place to go. They have restaurants inside and all sorts of prepared meals by the enterance. Their produce is the definition of perfection. The workers are so nice and helpful as well. read more

This place is insanely popular. I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was absolutely packed, checkout lines went all the way down the aisle, and social distancing was about 6 centimeters instead of feet. Produce and products here are all pretty expensive compared to 99 ranch, vons, and aldi, but most places don't carry a lot of korean products that only hmart has. Docking off one star because they should hire more cashiers to keep up with demand and reduce lines. Docking off another because i bought a jar of kimchi and all of the kimchi jars were dirty (with kimchi water) and it got on my hands and eventually got on my shirt before i even made it back to my car. read more

I bought their coconut other day and the juice inside the coconut was rotten. I went to returned the item. I returned it okay. I just checked the receipt now and noticed that they refunded me with their sale price not my purchase price. This is just a $1.00 difference, but it is really annoying and not right. read more

Although this HMart opened several months ago, I was not in a giant hurry to come here. I've been to HMarts in KTown on Western and on Alton Pkwy in Irvine, and they were all that and a bag of kkokkalcorn... so really, I didn't expect much from what was the unloved stepdaughter of Ralphs stores in the Pasadena/Arcadia area. You ever go hiking and on the way home, you're like, "Man, I could really go for some gakdoogi kimchi right about now..." Ok, so maybe that's just me. But with this HMart between me and my home-20, I thought I'd give it a look. Like everyone else who shopped here when it was a Ralphs, I parked and entered through the automatic doors clearly labeled "EXIT ONLY" next to the cart corral... because what you should do is get your cart right here next to the parking area, and walk outside 100 yards south against traffic to enter on the corner entrance. HMart, you funny already! Upon entry, that sweet, horrific-but-not-entirely-unpleasant tropical smell of ethylene, onion, fish sauce, bulgogi, and ginseng hits you right here [moving four fingers in a circle alongside my face and neck area]. Not sure whether it's better to breathe through your mouth or your nose, you just go for it and decide not to do either for the next 23 minutes of shopping. I suppose if Vons started stocking durians, mangosteen, real lychees, and live blue crabs, it would have that smell, too... so no hate ... all just part of the shopping experience. Immediately to the left is a humongous cold case of every conceivable kind of pickled, dried, and fermented Korean snack you could imagine... each hermetically sealed in plastic containers. I perused the selections, and settled on two different kimchis, making mental notes for later visits. A quick walk around the store revealed a food court area (coming here for ramen at some point), a lively live fish and meat counter, narrow aisles filled with thousands of different items, and a few bonus areas like make up counters and a mini liquor store counter. A quick pass down a few aisles demonstrated that this store sort of blends their Korean offerings with a healthy mix of Chinese... but maybe that's just how this place rolls in Arcadia. Checked out and paid cash with nary a word exchanged with the cashier, except I did say "kamsahamnida... itta bwayo!" And she smiled at me like I was made of spicy daikon. Or like I was an idiot, not totally sure. Anyhow, I'll be back to check this place out more. I always like buying live Dungeness crabs in season, and giant boxes of frozen squid for fishing... and something tells me this spot is gonna have 'em both when I need 'em. read more

Impressive. That was my first thought as I snapped a pic at the threshold of this massive, if a bit crowded, Asian specialty market. I've been to a few 99 Ranch locations, lots of small ones, Japanese markets, but the scale of H-Mart rivals the best of the others. That food court sure smelled incredible as we walked right past (already having stuffed ourselves earlier), but for future reference, this seems to be a go8d spot with many choices. We were generally stocking up on pantry staples, such as Red Boat fish sauce (about $.50 less than elsewhere), frozen dumplings, hot chili oil and so on. The produce section also had top deals and we also enjoyed scouting the meat section. Needless to say there's something for everyone at every price point. I cooked burgers from their fresh ground beef and found the taste and quality superb. Checking out was a breeze too, no line! The friendly cashier told us about their rewards card and comped our eligible specials. Upon signing up we received an immediate email with our entire purchase receipt! Impressed. Although we bought a bag of ice for the cooler brought to protect the food on the hour or so drive home, we,discovered that they offer free ice in a large bin by the customer service counter. I wanted to have Korean BBQ at home, and what better place to go shopping for ingredients than at an H Mart, as far as San Gabriel Valley places go. They have a wide selection of banchan as well as some quality meats. I prefer to have a wide variety, but unfortunately most of their meats were packaged in 1 lb packages - I would have preferred half pound for more variety, but those were not available when I went late in the afternoon. I purchased 1 lb of beef brisket and 1 lb of pork belly. I also purchased 3 banchan - potato salad, kimchi, and fish cake, also in 1 lb packages. The beef and pork were definitely pricey, but were of high quality especially the pork belly. Adding a little bit of teriyaki glaze for flavoring definitely improved the flavor of the pork belly. The sides were quite good too, especially the fish cake. The kimchi was not too spicy, which I like. read more

My daughter had suggested trying H Mart since we were going to be in the neighborhood so we did and my wife and I were greatly surprised. They have a small dining area where you can order food and eat and their groceries look great. They have a large variety of Asian foods, vegetables, fruits and great looking meat and fish options to cook up for dinner so if you're ever in the area stop by and take a look, you never know you might change your mind about that pasta dinner and make something different. This is our go to market any time we're back in SoCal. Definitely the nicest and cleanest Hmart I've been to in my life time and I love that the food court resembles a night market. Never had issues with crowds here as I always seem to find myself here first thing in the morning. Parking lot seems to be plenty and prices are what you've come to know and love about any Hmart you go to. Nothing but good things to say about this one. Come early and beat the rush! Very clean and fresh produce! Their food court doesn't open the same hours the market opens. That's why I took a star away. I go in at 9am and the food court is still dark. I shop at Hmart in ktown and Arcadia quite often, everything is great except for the recent purchases at Arcadia location. They rig the contents of the pre-packed marinated la style galbi ribs. While the top portion looks all pretty and fresh but the bottom portion they leave the bulky bones and engorged fats, so they make customers pay $$$ for a deceiving package. I thought this is like one time deal but this is the third time out of three purchases in Arcadia location. I've never seen this at ktown location because they know the Korean customers would get infuriated with this bs. This is a shame from management, you will lose loyal customers just to get extra dollars in their pockets for this scam. read more

When this HMart first opened, It became one of my favorite supermarkets to go to, it was almost on par with Costco. However, all great things must come to an end and this Hmart quality has began to go down hill. When this Hmart first opened up, there were many bargains and sales. This made me try a lot of different types of food without feeling too bad about throwing it away if I didn't like it. However now, it seems like there isn't many good bargains as before. Prices seem to have gone up, but the produce quality seems to be a little lacking. I was looking at strawberries today and all them had a lot of green and white on top of the berry. Stock on some items started to be lacking and empty shelves have started to appear. When this Hmart first opened; there were a lot of vendors, probably even more than Costco, providing free samples to people. Now, there seems to be a decline. So I lined up as my sister walks around then we switch turns. They have frozen corn dogs available and marinated pork bulgogi $5.99. I love going to this H Mart location so much! The store is always clean and their merchandise are always super organized. I can always find what I need here. From fresh fruits and vegetables and all varieties of seafood and meat. Do come early if you need to buy your meat for kbbq or shabu because they DO sell out quick! They take covid precautions seriously here! They clean the shopping carts for you with sanitizers and all their employees wears face shields / masks. I once was paying for my groceries and when this lady behind me stood too close to me, the cashier took the initiative and told her to step back and pointed to the stand 6 ft apart sign out to her. Don't stress about not being able to find parking - they have their own parking structure available. Will I highly recommend this spot to do all your grocery shopping asian food? Heck yes! I been frequenting the koreatown location more often since I like to stop by if I'm in the area for KBBQ, but I finally came to this one over the weekend and forgot how much I loved it! Due to the corona virus, there was a little line outside, but strangely, it moved really really quickly which signaled something was off. There was A LOT of people in the store, the line to check out went down most of the aisles with LESS than 6 feet between a person. I couldn't even shop through half the aisles since people were lined up and there was no room to even shop and not be right next to someone. I hope they do a better job at controlling the crowd! There is way too many people inside at one time. I still like the store because there's so much to buy, but will try to avoid until it's safe to shop again. Parking is not too bad, but it's kind of funny that people want your spot but fail to move so you can back out...guess you aren't getting my parking spot buddy! read more

I walked into H Mart with my own reusable bag, and walked around looking for snacks and what would catch my eyes. Immediately I noticed the security guard (standing by the entrance) honing his eyes on me, which I found a bit odd & uncomfortable. Maybe I was shopping without a cart, and was stashing the goods in my bag...openly...‍..and passing the security several times....? That must make me highly suspicious. Since I was getting snacks, I figured all I needed was a bag...guess for H Mart, if you go in without a cart, it makes you a prime target for shoplifting... Anyhoo, I got what I wanted, paid, and walked to the food court to order food. Since it was a wait, I decided to take my bag of grocery back to my car, only to be chased by the security guard (who wasn't even at his post when I walked out with other customers, who had cartloads of groceries) into the parking structure, asking to see my receipt. I gave him my receipt and offered him my bag, to show him the WHOPPING $29 worth of snacks...I bought. He looked at the receipt, up and down (more thoroughly than the people at Costco)..., while I asked him again "Would you like to check my bag to make sure all items were purchased?" He gave me back my receipt, and walked away. Seriously?!?! I dropped off my bag in my car, and walked back in to get my order. I made sure to check-in with the security guard with my receipt and my food.."Here's my receipt, my food so you can make sure that I am not stealing..." to save him the time to run after me again, and possibly letting actual shoplifters slip on by. Security Guard: "It's OK." Well, you know what, it's not OK. And my last time shopping at H Mart. How do you train your security guards and how do they profile potential shoplifters?!?! A Ralphs closed at this location a few years ago and when it was announced that it would be replaced by an HMart, I was pleased. There really are no Korean supermarkets in the San Gabriel Valley and it would be closest Asian supermarket to me, cutting my drive substantially. The renovation took a long time and when HMart finally opened in December 2017, I was completely shocked at the Grand Opening festivities. Apparently, every.single.Asian in the entire SGV was excited for the HMart, not just me. I drove by to find packed parking lots, an overflow parking lot, people with air traffic controller sticks directing traffic, and an hour-long line to even get into the store. Once all that novelty ran out, now it's back to usual at HMart. It is a pretty good substitute for a Chinese supermarket, but Chinese products seem expensive (Oyster sauce, 5-spice powder) but the key is that they seem to carry Korean, Chinese, and Japanese groceries so it's a real one-stop center. They also do prepared Korean foods so I regularly buy kimbap and chicken ginseng soup and sometimes chapchae. They have a lot of fruits and I buy golden kiwis, strawberries, tangerines, and melons here. I've only purchased beef once thus far and it was really gamey (maybe my fault in the preparation). On weekends, they do samples galore of kalbi, bulgogi, octopus, salmon, dumplings, ramen OMG its better than Costco. They also have a bakery and food court, neither of which impress me. The food court in particular is expensive. They also have little stands that are starting to fill up. One now has a Korean beauty store and I'm sure more are on their way. This is the largest Hmart i've been to and I'm a fan. It's sort of like they took some of the strengths of a Japanese, Chinese and American market and combined them. The selection/quality is great, the prices don't seem to be as high as the Japanese markets, it's a lot cleaner than most of the Chinese markets, and they even have a food court on one side. I come here for my fresh Korean sides. They have good clean routines and a security guard enforces that you wear a mask. I love that the entire store is very well air conditioned. I thought I was going to Ralphs, but low and behold, it has turned into Hmart. I'm a curious person and love adventure, so I went in to browse. Wow is all that I can say. This market is authentic, somewhat confusing if you are not familiar with items or the language on items. There are aisles upon aisles of dried foods, snacks, and cool Asian trinkets. The meats are all tempting and look very fresh. Shabu meats are already thinly sliced to make at home. I walked out with a marinated container of Wagyu beef, not sure what I'm making tonight, but it will be great I'm sure. The fish market is out of control, live fish everywhere for the taking. I love clams, but after what I saw in the water tanks today, I'm not so sure. There is a food court and I was hungry, but quite honestly, I was too intimidated to try anything. To much anticipation, Hmart finally opened up. Not from me, but the never ending line of people there. We parked, we walked over, we decided to wait it out and go in to see the hype. The wait wasn't excruciating, like how ppl wait over 3 hrs for fried chicken. We were inside quicker than anticipated. Herds of people drove around looking for parking spaces in a lot that was 2/3 unutilized, due to permit issues. One semi truck blocked traffic so another can come out of the loading dock, caused even more of a gridlock with all the cars trying to enter the lot. It was a mess. Through the chaos, they seemed prepared. Staff were directing traffic. A guard played bouncer and let controlled #'s of ppl in to prevent bottlenecking by the entrance. Aisles were blocked off to direct traffic and they even managed to set up sample stations. That caused jams in the aisles. But through it all, it's an awesome market. They managed to pack a bakery, seafood section, food court with 5 eateries, a coffee & dessert section, tons of snacks, instant ramen, fresh produce, an impressive meat section with numerous types of meat & cuts. Fresh sushi is sliced at the seafood section. They also offer services to clean & filet your whole fish. Aisles of snacks just seem to go on & on. The multiple freezers hold various snacks, meals and desserts. The eateries at the food court offer various cuisines. (see my photos for complete menus) The decor was well thought out. The signages for each department was bold and attention getting. The layout was planned well. It only got busier so we cut our trip short, and just bought some snacks and fruit. But for sure, we will be back ... many times. I'm giving it a 4 based on the market itself, not factoring in the wait times, the overcrowding in every aisles, and bad parking situation. Great concept for a market. Now that I've been here twice in two days, I have a feeling I'll be making frequent returns to this store in the future. The store is very clean and well organized. It is loaded with all kinds of Asian food (80% Korean) and there are several vendors inside selling all kinds of hot meals and pastries. I saw many specialty frozen products that I am interested in trying but didn't buy today. That's OK. This will give me an excuse to go back and eat at the food court again. Went on a Wednesday at 11am to avoid the crowds. Overall, cleanliness and assortment of banchan and marinaded meats sets this market a part from the other Asian grocers in the area. If you have been to the other H Mart locations, then it's pretty much the same There seems to be a lot of parking spots, but they are in the rear. There is one entrance only door in front and then an exit only door in the rear. Like the other H Marts, this one has a prepared deli section. Cold dishes and a handful or cooked/warm items like japchae and kimbap. There are about 5 restaurants in the food court, 1 bakery, and a restroom in the back. The cool part about the restaurant is that you will get an overhead page when your food is ready regardless of which restaurant you ordered from. Drove by on multiple occasions after the loooong awaited Grand opening, and many times thereafter. Based on the traffic back ups onto Huntington Drive and the droves of people in the parking lot, one would think they were giving away free food! Well, last night we finally ventured in. Parking lot was packed, but enough people were coming and going that we parked within 5 minutes. Food court is great. They've got everything from bimbap to kalbi, to beef soup noodle, rice cakes, and bbq. Seating was crowded, but due to the high turnover, not a problem. We ordered: Jah jiang meim seafood: huge portion, lots of shrimp and squid, great flavor. Serving was enough for 3 of us to share. Han beef noodle soup. Light broth, tender beef slices, and bok choi...great on a cold evening. A little chili oil balances it just right. 1/2 garlic fried chicken: a bit heavy on the batter, a long 25 minute wait, but worth it. Tip: order this first before your other entrees. Grocery shopping: meat quality is excellent, and saves us a trip to K-town to buy ox tail and short ribs. Aisles and lighting is excellent and not having to play bumper carts like in 99 Ranch is a nice welcome change. Snacks and drinks galore in both the Korean and Chinese variety line the shelves. Just as my fellow Yelp members had mentioned in their review, H Mart has finally had it's grand opening this past Friday. Since I do not live in Arcadia, I didn't get the memo about this place opening and only knew after seeing James L's check in. Of course during grand opening weekend, this place is going to be crazy and hectic, but that didn't stop my husband from wanting to go last night (why not, he asks me). Anyways, the parking lot appeared to be full (was surprised to see a small 2 story parking structure in the back) and so we just parked on the street and walked over (if it is crowded, you may just want to do that). If I was to describe my shopping experience in 3 words: Asian Black Friday. Keep reading why. We arrived a little before 6 pm and outside was a table that provided sign up forms for H Mart's store card (according to the cashier, when we paid for our items, there are no special pricing for those with this card but it is solely just to help you keep track of your accumulate points, through purchases, but I am not sure what the rewards are). Those who opened a store card were given a free metal cup as a free gift. Anyways, upon the main entrance of the store, you find yourself in front a beautiful produce section with a great colorful selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. But was definitely hard to navigate with so many people and carts. There were food samples throughout the store, in many different departments. This caused a huge crowd of people as we tried to browse and purchase random food items. And since everyone comes into the produce section upon entering and wants to try free food samples, this creates a ton of random lines everywhere. Next door to the produce section (in the back) is the seafood section. Plenty of delicious fresh and frozen items, but kind of on the small side. Prices in general in the other departments were pretty affordable and comparable to the 99 Ranch Market that is near by. Anyways, just like the other H Mart markets, there is also a food court and bakery (which surprises me that they were able to squeeze so much into the old Ralphs). I like that this food court has more choices than the Diamond Bar location and more seating. But this store is just too compact (cramped) and not well spread out like the Diamond Bar location. Although it is further away, I think I will just stick to Diamond Bar in the future. Reminiscent of my Black Friday shopping after Thanksgiving, certain areas are blocked off so that you can only go in one particular way and long lines to pay for items at all check outs only made this shopping experience less than desired. And to make matters even worse, the old man in front of us cut one (farted), that was loud enough for me to hear (and of course smell). Definitely was not a fan of that and had the hardest time trying to contain my laughter. But the immature me couldn't and had to literally laugh out loud (told you I am immature... and in fact I'm laughing right now as I type this review). Be polite and hold it in until you get outside when there is no else around... geeze! The old man acted like nothing even happened as I gagged and kept on laughing (*sign* so immature, I know). Anyways, after we finally paid for our items and made our way outside, there was an employee telling us to pick up our free gift (only meant for those who purchased something inside). Our free gift included a large plastic strainer and bowl set, rubber gloves for washing dishes and individual wrapped food samples. It was a nice surprise to get these free items. But I think I will just keep on shopping at the Diamond Bar location (one less person you have to wait in line behind). Considering that the 99 Ranch Market gets really busy still, most likely this H Mart market will be busy all the time, especially on the weekends. But if you are not in a hurry to check out this market, consider waiting until the newness of the store wears off and it may be slightly less crowded (and hopefully you don't find yourself behind a farting person in line... and yes I am still laughing). read more

Probably my least favorite H-Mart. Don't get me wrong, I am super thankful I don't have to drive to Ktown for legit a legit Korean market anymore. We seriously needed this place so I'll still be frequenting. Anyway, H-Mart just opened a few weeks ago in Arcadia (replaced the old Ralphs). They have a impressive selection of banchans aka side dishes, a Tous Les Jours bakery, tea shop, and a food court (chinese food, fried chicken, korean food) along with all your typical Korean groceries you may want to buy. They also carry some unique items like fresh vacuum packed popular brands of suncakes from Taiwan which I've never seen at other markets. The banchans/bakery/tea shop were literally in the same section yet we had to pay separately for them at their own cash register. I mean, I understand the bakery, but the banchans?!....they're normally paid for at the main registers. Also, I ordered a mixed grain latte at Tous Le Jours and the ladies behind the counter had no idea what it was....its #2 on your menu...They asked each other in Mandarin which I happened to understand so I tried to help em out a bit, but no luck. Also aisles are cramped! Good luck getting your cart across an aisle with other people in it... On the plus side, I got a couple of free lightbulbs and a dishwashing glove out of their giveaways. This my favorite H-mart to shop at. I don't have a Korean or even a decent Asian grocery store near me. So when I can, I make sure I stop by here. It has a good selection of Asian products and is always clean. I can always rely on this place to have Shabu Shabu beef. I can't have any other meat slice for Hotpot anymore. I also enjoy the food court. It gives me the chance to try different foods from different restaurants without having to go far. read more

Tip: Check online for their weekly deals -Sign up for a membership to collect points and discounts Parking: Big lot with plenty of parking space Even during COVID19, they still have a lot of items stocked. The bakery and pre-packaged side dishes are also still available. There's also an employee that stands at the entrance to sanitize your carts. The crowd isn't too bad, but I'd recommend to avoid weekends. This H-Mart is pretty clean and organized. I love getting their meats. Especially the USDA Prime Shabu meats. Quality of the fruits and veggies are usually always fresh. You can basically get all of your korean needs here. Big selection of instant ramen noodles, korean snacks, some chinese snacks, and a wide selection of soju flavors for the alcoholics. read more

It's super terrific happy Funtime hour! ---------------------- You remember that episode of Seinfeld when Jerry gets $0.01 royalty checks from a wacky Japanese mashup game show with that same name? Well, this place reminds me of that. It's a mashup of -a club (with its black ceiling), -an upscale market with its stylized fonts and cartoons of sides of beef, -a cleaner version of Fulton fish market (from where their fish comes), - 99 Ranch (with the Chinese and Korean food stalls), - a general purpose store in Asia (with its kitchen accessories and spiders lowly overhanging the aisles, such that a 6' person would hit it) - a Taiwanese Costco (random end caps with Chinese ladies cooking food samples on hot plates) - and side streets in La Cañada during rush hour (with random trees in the middle of the road causing you to swerve all over the place). As if that weren't enough, they have random 100 square foot spaces for rent! Dude, you're trying too hard. You would do well cutting just 10% of what I mentioned above. read more

YESS!! FINALLY OPEN!! I went on opening day and during the weekend and YES it was busy with a wait but what do you expect? The market is clean with a lot of variety and I absolutely adore the foodcourt style. You can order from any restaurant at the register and the order will come up per restaurant with the number given to you after you made your purchase. This way, you don't have to get in line for each restaurant to order if you wanted something different. LOVE that idea. The market had a lot of deals during grand opening so it was great. The lines can get chaotic but I feel like its part of the experience right now..and I kind of find it funny since its all for a grocery store. Service: they're still trying to get a handle on things as they had wayyy too many customers than workers. I say give them a few more weeks to perfect their system b/c I know it will be GREAT. read more

Definitely our go to place to get fish and bbq meat so we can cook it. I love how they have great selections of Korean meat and sashimi. Lots of banchan to choose from as well. They also have a food court. read more
