I rate H Mart a 5. Its the antithesis of 99 Ranch IMO. H Mart - 1. Clean and modern. They put thought into the asthetics of the shopping environment. 2. Fresh veggies. You don't have to carefully inspect some of the veggies for wilting and maybe even beginning to mold. 3. Fresh meats. A few times I purhcased pork at 99 that smelled really bad. 4. Huge collection of cooked Korean foods (99 is Chinese centric) but also a food court with various Asian foods. 5. Well stocked shelves featuring not just Korean but Chinese and Japanese foods. 6. On the level of a Vons or even better as far as a nice place to shop. On the other hand, 99 fits the stereotype of your dirty Chinese market. read more

Clean and organized. Love that you can get prepared food in the market or grab food at the in store restaurants before or while you shop, which is what I did. Ordered some food to go and grabbed some groceries and prepared food from HMart while I waited. Prices are a little higher than other asian markets, but worth it for the variety, cleanliness, and quality. Especially love the fruit section. The variety and quality is especially exceptional at Korean markets. Didn't get any prepared meat or seafood on this trip, but I was tempted. read more

I had such a pleasant time visiting H Mart for the first time in Arcadia. Clean aisles, fully stocked, fresh fish and meat and produce, a variety of ramen, chips, candy, Moon cakes, and so much more to look forward to when you're here. Besides the crowds in this holiday weekend, it was nice to see everything running efficiently. One of the employees helped us at a register and asked how long we waited for in the line to get an idea of how the lines were moving. Little questions like this made us feel welcomed and cared for. I'd come back here again. By the way, you're also getting access to Tours le Jours bakery and a few restaurants in their food court. You'll see a bibimbap review coming soon after this. I like this market! It's fairly close to home and this means that I don't need to drive 30+ minutes to Koreatown when feeling like whipping up a Korean-inspired meal or two. I've been to several H-Marts and this location is rather large and it has a lot going on for it: ample parking (even a covered section), a food court, wide aisles, very clean and products are always nicely displayed and for some reason, this always makes me buy more! Fun fact: this used to be a Ralphs! For the past several times I've been here, I've spent $50 minimum during each shopping trip. Yes, there are always interesting things to find here (even if you've gone on to get only a few things) and it just never fails, $50 minimum is like the target that I hit each time. For that reason, I decided to join their rewards program which can help save some money. My only gripe is the music is pretty loud and sometimes gets a bit intense. Oh well, it helps set the mood and gets you to shop til you drop! I would say most items they offer are Korean but there are some Chinese, Japanese, pan-Asian products as well. If you're lucky and the item is pretty common, you'll most likely find it here. Service has always been okay...nothing to write home about, they get you in and are pretty quick at the registers. Everytime I stop by, I do notice that they have a lot of staff who stock items and they take pride in their efforts (and it shows). Bought some raspberries, so if you try to return their fruits on the 3rd day for not being fresh they refuse refund. I guess their fruits are only good for 2 days? My return was less than 72 hours. Not everyone has time to come back. 2nd day I washed the raspberries and it fell apart on me. I love H Mart. If I'm traveling for work or going out of town, I always check Yelp for the closest H Mart since there isn't one close to where I live. There are Asian markets, but I feel like they can't compare to H Mart. I always stock up on my various snacks. There's so much to choose from and prices are cheaper than like Albertsons/Miniso. They're busy on the weekends and lines are long. Their parking is Ok. They have an open lot and a structure which helps. The structure was really dark and half of the lights were on. I would be weary going by myself and parking in a dim lot during the day or night. I would hope they turn all the lights on once the sun goes down. I went with my sister's so we were fine. I really hope the San Fernando Valley gets an H Mart sometime soon. read more

It was fun visiting HMart! I went there specifically to get "Doenjang" a Korean fermented soybean paste. I found the section where they had it, along with a large variety of chili pastes, etc. I selected the smallest container they had, which was next to a giant tub that had "Doenjang " in English. The container did not have any English on the labeling, but it appeared to be what I was looking for. So I took the container and asked one of the female Korean employees near the checkout area if that was Doenjang. I pointed to my grocery list and then to the container. She smiled and nodded her head "yes!" Also bought two packages of fresh salmon, and some baby bok choy. Seafood department was nice, as well as the produce department which had a lot of Asian vegetables. Ambience is great... clean, orderly and bright. I stopped by H Kart to get some affordable food! Right at the entrance there is the ready made food then a bakery. I loved that they have a vegan bibimbap and a multitude of veggie options. I'm surprised they haven't been caught by the authority for over charging. Know the price of weekly specials. I bought a case of Orri oranges today. Advertised price was $13.99/bx. I love shopping at this H Mart in Arcadia. It is a Korean supermarket, but they also sell other Asian foods such as for Chinese, Japanese, etc. They have a section of small shops and food court of restaurants inside the mart. I haven't eaten at any of their restaurants, but I have bought pastries from Tous Les Jours... love their apple pies and taro buns! It's so much fun walking down the aisles and seeing so many different variations of noodles, snacks, etc. They have an excellent meat and seafood section plus their fruits and vegetables area. Lots of variety! I normally buy frozen fish balls, tofu fish balls, and other seafood for hot pot at home. Sometimes I'll pick up some fresh salmon and head shrimp. I haven't been to any other H Mart except for this one. I know they have other locations. It would be nice if they open one up in the Inland Empire... maybe one day they will when there is a demand for it. If you're in the Arcadia area, check them out! Happy H Marting! read more

If you're super hungry and don't feel like cooking or tired from all that shopping there's a food court inside with small restaurants that offer piping hot bowls of noodles and much more! Plus there's indoor dining. There's also a bakery inside this store as well. So plenty of sweet options after dining in or while shopping for groceries. Another great thing about this HMart is that there is an aisle dedicated to instant noodles! Huge variety to choose from, but individual packets to bulk boxes. So many different flavors for sure! Seafood here is great, there's live options and even freshly prepared platters of sashimi. If you plan on hosting a KBBQ at home there's plenty of sliced meat options both marinated and not marinated. It's also a great place to look for your dipping sauces to go with your meat. By the produce area there's also a huge variety of kimchi and pickled food. I still don't know which is the best, any recommendations? H Mart is convenient and good for things that are not available at 99 Ranch Market. I also like how they have different restaurants to choose from but have only been to one. Although H Mart has a lot to choose from, they are missing some items. I like that most of the veggies are fresh and prices are decent. The one thing they can improve on is customer service. There have been a few times that I asked for assistance in finding a product or if they have it and all they say is, "I don't know." This is something I have only encountered here at H Mart. Other markets or stores will either tell you they do not carry that product, or they take you to it. If they do not know, they usually try to find out for you, but not at H Mart. It is also ALWAYS super cold in there! At first, I thought it was just me, but I have been here with my bf and friends and they all bring up how cold it is in there. Parking is not an issue though. There is plenty of parking and also able to park in the structure (which I do not think a lot of people know about that). read more

I have to say I love HMART. There stores are so clean and filled with Asian groceries and fresh produce. Their convenience section is just awesome and packed with prepped foods or packaged goods to take home and cook. They also have a pretty good food court as well. Las Vegas really needs one badly. I love H Mart! It's my go to spot for Korean groceries and snacks! One of my fave things they offer are all the fresh banchan for Korean dinners at home (located near the entrance). My faves are the potato salad and pickled cucumbers! The cucumbers are so addictive, I can probably eat a large (not that big) container myself! However, they are a bit pricy for how much you get. My other favorite is the food court area! Katsu Mori for the win! This is located on the side of the market and has a few (4-6) vendors selling yummy meals! And you can eat at the communal tables. Dinner and shopping! The last time we were here, we just missed them as they close at 8 while the market closes at 10. I love that they offer marinated meats (beef, chicken and pork), frozen meats, marinades in the back area so you can have KBBQ at home! They also have USDA Prime and Wagyu options. This came in so convenient during times you don't want to eat out. I have two younger nephews that are easier to handle at home instead of going out, so we have this great option! Great produce area! Lots of Asian fruits and veggies. This full grocery store is pretty well stocked with everything. I like finding new snacks all the time! This is probably the last time I will come to this location. First of all, not sure what's going on with the people who come here. They all drive awful, and they don't follow any common sense when driving in a parking structure. The parking lot is a mess with shopping carts everywhere. Pretty much NO ONE has the decency to push the carts away to their designated areas. If you want your car to get dings and scratches, then come here. Absolutely the worst customers ever. H-Mart is clean, huge and draws you in with one of the largest selections of Asian food products in the SGV. But they are shadier than any supermarket around. One example: we found a can of sesame oil "on sale" for $13 marked down from $20. After paying, we discovered we were charged $20 for it. We went to customer service to inquire about it and were told that the sale price only applied if we spent $50 and showed a membership card. Who does this? This is the only market where price markdowns only count if you read some hidden small print. Also H-Mart is not Costco or any other membership store. If you forget your free member card, they can't look it up by phone number or name. It's just an arbitrary discount card you always have to have on you at all times. Other shady things I've found while shopping there: if you buy the premarinaded galbi ribs, beneath the nice pieces of meat you see on top, you will find inedible gristle and bone, hidden from view, filling the rest of the package. You also have to look carefully at expiration dates as we've found that they often sell expired crackers, ramen and other products "on sale" or even at regular price. Buyer beware. read more

Bought a bag of bok choy here and over 50% were eaten by worms. Not small nibbles but the leaves were covered in holes. Their banchan is old, dry and overpriced. I was going to get some pickled radish but it looked so dry. Checked the date and it was packed on Feb. 21 (nearly 2 weeks ago!) Customer service is rude. They're never friendly and accuses you of stealing if you didn't purchase their bags. This place must have high theft if they're so easy to accuse you of stealing. read more

H Mart is one of my common grocery store visits. This location is always freezing so make sure you have a jacket. Their food court has pretty good food and there is a good amount of seating (like bibimbap, chinese korean fusion dishes, and jiajia mien). It just can be a little pricey ($15 +). The bakery is good too, just not a big selection. Parking is plenty, just always crowded! When you walk in, they always have sanitizing materials available so it makes me feel clean and safe. I sometimes use the gloves they provided and that was always helpful! The security guard is also a protection plus Today, was the first time (that I have seen) samples were available (like costco!). We're living in some seriously strange times, so it's been nice to go out to the market once in awhile rather than having it delivered. I admit, going to the market can be a bit difficult with a face mask, face shield, and gloves--I could be a hot mess LMAO, but what's nice is that I feel comfortable grocery shopping at this H Mart Arcadia. This place is huge, nice, and clean. When you first walk in, there's a hand sanitizer and a thermo check, which is super cool. All these things I appreciate. This H Mart is also pretty organized, there's a pretty big/decent size food court area in the back left corner, Tous Les Jours Bakery, and even a shop for clothing. It's pretty cool, reminds me of the malls in Asia where's it's a combo of these different things. The prices are also reasonable and there's huge selection and variety of all the things you need to make a BOMB delicious Asian meal. Guys, they even have the sought-after boba bar desserts. Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars. read more

I can't believe that I have not written a review for this Asian supermarket. It was nice that everyone was wearing a mask and observed social distancing. This is my go to place for Asian snacks and beverages from different Asian countries. I happen to like the salted egg potato chips from Singapore. It's definitely an acquired taste. My husband and children dislike them. I also enjoy the different flavored rice crackers from Japan that my children happen to love. There's also the Filipino shrimp chips that I like. I was hoping to find the Korean mushroom chips, but I could not find them. The mushroom chips might have been within the supermarket, since the aisles are surrounded with Asian snacks. If you go to HMart's website you'll be able to see what I mean regarding their awesome snack selection. You'll also be able to see their weekly specials on their site. This place also has a small Korean food court within it. My husband and I usually order jjamppong from Kyodong Noodle. Left Wing reminded me of Bonchon's Korean fried chicken. This supermarket also has a bakery that I always order something from. At Tous les Jours bakery I like their their awesome selection of different types of bread and pastries. If you like red bean and sugar donuts, then you'll like their red bean donut. If the donut was not filled with the red bean, it would be like a beignet dusted with sugar instead of the powdered sugar. They also have beverages available. I like the almond senbei from Peniel bakery that can be found to the left of Tous les Jours. I'm happy that I don't have to go to Korea Town for the almond senbei (very thin and crispy almond cookie). If you're craving Asian snacks and/or beverages, I would highly recommend going to this supermarket. read more

I saw a peacock in the parking lot, we don't have wild ones roaming on Maui. when I got out to try and take a picture, he was GONE! Ugh, and then I keep hearing his call so he was definitely mocking me. Anyways, there's only 1 entrance into the market, we parked on the empty side only to find out it's empty because the entrance is closed. The shop is very H-mart. I'm looking forward to coming back! A wild and varied selection of items! Only 4 stars because I came in for a specific tea, Lapsang Souchong and they didn't have it! But I did score on Tartay Buckwheat tea which I've only found online before now. The produce section is well stocked, the baby bok choy in a bag was perfect for steaming. Also purchase a bag of purple Japanese sweet potatoes that also cooked up nicely. They are small so they cook fast! Management: is having carts by the entrance too much to ask? Your staff is on break sitting next to the empty cart station while there's a flock of people on a scavenger hunt. Forget about parking, the real challenge is looking for carts. Apparently that's the rarest item in the store. read more

As a Manhattanite from a land where massive supermarkets do not exist, much less massive Asian supermarkets, I was in awe and almost dropped to + kissed the ground when I walked in. =) This H-Mart location was huge, larger than any other location I've ever visited, impeccably clean. (Runner up: the American Dream location in NJ.) I was in there for a beat-the-clock, Top Chef elimination round style shopping expedition given that we had somewhere to get to, but managed to pick up beautiful, fairly priced fruit (grapes, lychees); douhua (desserty tofu custard); Korean bbq flavored gim; soy sauce marinated eggs; omusubi; milk. Quality appears to be shockingly consistent from coast to coast. Prepared foods like omusubi and soy sauce eggs were exactly the same as what you'd find in NYC on 32nd St -- and the pricing as well. Nothing was of homemade or good restaurant quality, but if you seek convenience, one could do worse. Produce was very fresh, pricing on sale items fair. There was an extensive selection of baked goods from some chain (Tous les Jours IIRC?), a huge meat and seafood section, and a section for independent fast food vendors -- none of which I could check out sadly. What really earned this place its five stars: service. Checkout lanes were long and packed on a Saturday afternoon. An observant and fantastic manager opened up another lane near the entrance (immediately to the left if you're facing the entrance) and the kindest, most courteous cashier checked me out. I wish I'd gotten names. As a jaded New Yorker, I'm not used to such on-the-ball, friendly supermarket staff. Thank you! read more

Best Korean market around by default since they are pretty much the only one around. I'd definitely recommend their pre made spicy beef soup! As good as the restaurant ones. Items: I like the variety of stuff they have. Marinated meat packets for Korean BBQ to hotpot meat slices to pre made Korean side dishes and soups! The produce and meats are fairly fresh. The seafood section looks legit enough where you'd find most Asian and American consumed fishes. Service: The staff is neither good or bad per se. Their service doesn't leave a mark. They definitely don't try for above and beyond service like what one would expect from a Vons or Ralphs, but I haven't had any bad service here (at least not yet). Staff is polite overall. Environment: Fairly new hmart so the place looks decent and clean. Lovd the food court they have in here as well as bakery. Can't wait until covid is over to eat at the food court again. Cost: The stuff here is fairly expensive. I really try to just buy Korean specific products here since the produce, meats, seafood and pretty much everything else cost 20% more than 168 market (where I do most of my shopping). These are produce bought with a sign said cannot open prepackaged veggies. H Mart Produce department purposely package these in the middle of the produce bag so when one take a look from the outside it looks fine. Horrible market practice. Given the current gas prices who would go back try to get refund on a $5 dollar produce? Why is H Mart corporate management taking advantage of everyday blue collar American workers? Why would anybody go there and shop? These produce belongs in the garbage. Run, don't walk, to this two-year-old H Mart with unlimited free parking and COVID-friendly directional signs in every aisle. Social distancing has closed the food court (July 2020), but thankfully the (unpronounceable) Korean bakery with a French name, Tous Le Jous, has remained opened. Order a Korean sesame tapioca bread roll (crunchy on outside, airy inside, they cost about $1.25) and you will want 10 more. Though H Mart is a Korean supermarket chain (the "H" stands for the Korean phrase 'han ah reum,' roughly translated as "one arm full of groceries"), you'll find a variety of Asian and Western items. Produce prices are low. Tons of alcohol including the popular flavored sojus. I'm all about the cookies and crackers. You cannot beat "Ace" brand crackers. Of course Pepero is featured. Pepero Day is just around the corner, after all (11/11). Well stocked shelves and clean aisles. I like the shopping carts here.
