But what made it ok was that the chef? came out and explained the wait and actually gave me my lunch and beer on the house and apologized for the wait.. first time that's ever happened and I really appreciated it. I want to start by saying the service from our waiter was outstanding. However, We were Very disappointed with the hostess and rib-eye steak . The hostess was at the pedestal eating out of a plastic container while chewing talking to patrons on a busy night. Tacky and unprofessional. Management needs to get grip on eating at the pedestal. In Fort Worth for a conference, decided to visit the "Stockyards", I've heard so much about. Stopped in H3 Ranch Steakhouse and added to the wait list (30-45 mins). It was a Thursday evening and the place was pretty full. Can't imagine how it is on the weekends. Lost of places to see as you walk through the area. Seemed like they called pretty quickly (within 25 mins). Our server was friendly, yet very busy. Like a little humming bird as she went from table to table. The decor inside is very Texas western Some of the Sears at the bar area actually saddles. "Interesting". We ordered two 9oz filets mignon, a smoked sirloin, and a ribs and sausage. It was taking sometime for the food to come as there was a big party ahead of us. Then the aroma of finely grilled meat hit my nose as the plates were served. The taste was amazing, but some items were hot and some were barely warm. Probably sat up a while waiting for the meal to complete. Overall it was good. Full disclosure, right from the opening here, I've always been a Cattleman's fan. However, having not been back to Fort Worth, let alone the stockyards, in some years I recalled (actually looked it up here on Yelp) that my last experience there was not enjoyable. Therefore, to H3 we went! It was also recommended by a coworker of mine, she said it's always her go-to in the touristy spot that has become the Stockyards. So it had that going for it. Needless to say that it is tourist central here. You really can't get a better location and they flock in the doors. It's easy to understand that you are not going to get the most amazing steak of your life but you will get an entire meal experience that meets what you're looking for. It has a real "Texas" feel to it. So if you're looking for a spot to fill you belly before a night of drinks or a show at Billy Bob's then this place is a good choice. Fun environment, busy place on a weekend. Bar was busy too, but fun saddle seats allow you or your guest to "saddle up" to the bar. Good selections both at bar and restaurant. We were seated in the bar area which kept the good vibes and casual atmosphere in tact. Service was as we wished, and not rushed since we were looking to go to a show later. H3 Ranch had very high reviews so when we were looking for a good start to our Saturday night out in North Side, we thought this would be the best choice! Unfortunately our experience was underwhelming. The location is awesome. Right in the Hesiod North Side across from the White Elephant so perfect for people watching. We called ahead to see if they took reservations and we're told no. They said it was an hour and half wait but we were ok thinking we could get a drink at the bar. We waited maybe 10 min and were sat, we thought this was a good sign so we eagerly sat down. Our waitress was nice but seemed distracted even though she didn't seem to be swamped. The service was sub par the whole meal. We had to wait for another round of drinks, we had to wait for silverware, when our food came out, we had to wait for toppings for our baked potatoes, which was frustrating since they showed up after half my steak was eaten and the potato had cooled down significantly. My steak was ok. I had the ribeye. Cooked like I wanted however it wasn't worth the $45 I paid for it. This was a very mediocre food. Which is disappointing since we are in Cow Town. It should have been incredible, but it wasn't. I left feeling like I had eaten at a tourist trap. Our bill was $110 for two without tip. Looking back I could have gone to a chain like Ruth's Chris, Morton's, or Del Crisco's and all would have been much better. Meh. read more

The food here is very good. The ambiance is fun, inviting, and feels like Texas! The location is awesome! HOWEVER, the service here for the last 3 visits has been very unprofessional, rude, and anything but a welcoming experience. Our waitress got our cocktails wrong and litterally blamed it on us when talking to her manager. In addition, the manager didnt even bother to come and talk to us. This is an insane touristy place at the most touristy corner in Fort Worth. As such, you probably need to lower your expectations a bit. It's not a five star steak restaurant. The prices are a little high. The wait can be a little long. Counter to the trend everywhere else, they don't have an outstanding list of local craft beers. But with all those caveats, it's pretty good. It's not exactly an innovative menu, but it's not Outback Steakhouse, either. They have put in some effort. I really like the smoked sausage cream corn as a side. You could do a lot worse in this neighborhood (Riscky's, for example). Very common, nothing special. We did not leave this establishment going, " Wow, we'll definitely have to come back!!" Rather we left wondering why H3 holds such a prominent reputation. Possibly it's riding on an old one. The food was very underwhelming and tasteless. The NY steak had a similar texture to a sirloin. The napkin was very hard and felt like I was wiping my face with brown hand paper towels. Service was pretty non-existent, however the bus boy was on point. He was cleaning/wiping everything at the table off for the next guests. He was even cleaning between the spindles on the backs of the chairs. Came here with my family for lunch and was very underwhelmed given the reviews. First - they do NOT offer breakfast. Their website has a breakfast menu. Don't let that deceive you. Very subpar place lunch food. At the table we got: Char-Grilled Salmon Salad, Short Order Tacos, Cheeseburger, Crispy Fried Catfish, & the Sirloin. The Salmon was the smallest filet I've ever seen. The tacos came in a small bowl - definitely ask for a plate. On the cheeseburger my brother wanted a fried egg. They don't even have eggs apparently. The catfish was so thin. Probably the thinnest catfish anyone in my family has seen. The Sirloin was very tough. Also, on the menu it says parties of 8 or more will automatically have 18% gratuity added. A group of us met at H3 for a Holiday Dinner. There was around 10 in our group. It was VERY crowded when we arrived but they had our table ready for us. After being seated and greeted by our server we ordered drinks and some ordered appetizers. To my wife and I, the prices were a little higher than what we expect at a mid-level steakhouse. But we were here, and it was the holidays so what the heck. I love smoked sirloin so I ordered the 12-ounce platter and my wife ordered tortilla soup and the standard nachos. My steak platter also came with a side salad. After an expected wait, due to how busy the restaurant was, our entrees started to come out. Everyone at the table said their steaks and entrees were just "OK" nothing special. The same goes for our entrees, they were just "OK". My smoked sirloin was way overcooked. I know it's hard to gauge the smoked sirloin doneness since it's already smoked. But one of the other guests got my platter which was rarer than they ordered but ate it anyway. My wife was disappointed with her nachos since all they were was fried tortillas covered with melted cheddar cheese and some chopped up jalapenos. Overall, again, just OK. We've been here now and won't go out of our way to return. Our server did her best considering how busy she and the restaurant was on a Tuesday evening. read more
