Something has changed here. In my quest to rank burger places in Clovis, this one scored very high. I remember going here in the past a number of times, to be left completely underwhelmed. TLDR: selective on who has to wear a mask even though sign says everyone has to wear one. We weren't going to be allowed service for not having one, but they had multiple people in there w/o one but singled out my bf who forgot his in the car. I had mine. Everything is decent, but the last time we went we encountered an issue. The sign says everyone in there must wear a mask. We read it and I had mine, for some reason my boyfriend just forgot and left his in the car and we walked in. The cashier sees us walk in and asks my boyfriend to get a mask. He apologizes and walks back to the car to get it. She was very nice about it and we didn't think much about it until the girl behind us says "but those guys aren't wearing one" referring to the men waiting by the counter (about 3-4 different people). The cashier either didn't hear or didn't care. We were too hungry to think about what was really going on, but when I was telling this story back to people everyone was telling me it was wrong. I hate to make this a race issue (and really hope it wasn't the case) but all the people with no mask waiting for their orders were white men. Never told a thing and I'm sure it was the manager/shift lead handing out orders so why were they never asked to get a mask or leave? We can't be sure and won't be back to ask. There was also a younger Hispanic woman outside waiting for her order because she didn't have a mask, but why were others with no mask allowed to wait inside? Also, if the girl who was behind us that day reads this, thanks for sticking up! We didn't really understand what you said until we finished ordering and looked to where you were pointing. The spot was open but the patio was open. We showed up after 10 pm. The staff was nice. Food was good and the tables were clean and had sanitize makers. The roadway can make it hard for people to have a conversation. The burger was yummy . Very delicious and hot and freshly made. Habit Burger has great burgers. The meat is fresh, the vegetables are also great, and the sides are spot on. Each of us has a favorite and have stuck with that favorite every time. Mine is the teriyaki double char. In Habit-ese a char is a burger patty. This is a burger with grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, grilled pineapple, teriyaki and mayo. The burgers are perfectly cooked and juicy, every time. I add cheese mostly to help hold the burger together. It's a very big bite and the stuff between the buns slides around from being squeezed. It's really weird that we live up to the name of the place. We order the same thing every time. It's always great. Let's talk about sides. Every burger place has French fries. Habit Also has sweet potato fries, onion rings, grilled brussel sprouts, and tempura green beans. I personally really enjoy the green beans. They are crisp, retain the flavor of the green beans and happen to go great with their teriyaki sauce. There is one thing this location needs. The floor space is not enough. It seems like a struggle to find a place to sit, every time. Even when there is space, it's tough to move around. The counter has the pepper bar next to the self serve beverage station. The space between the wall and the beverage bar is about a person and a half wide. So with one person getting a drink it takes a little maneuvering to get through. This minimal space is the same between the tables as well. We have had a habit of sitting on the patio, where there is more space. The heaters work just well enough for cold days in Fresno. There's not much that can be done during the Summer months. read more

Fresh, funky, fantastic! The Habit has, hands-down one of the freshest burgers going. I like that it has a bit of a Santa Barbara vibe going with the decor on the walls, seascapes that reminds me of my stays in Santa Barbara. But the food! The meat is so fresh and delicious. I've ordered regular burgers and they are incredible. You can get regular fries which are delicious, but you can also get sweet potato fries which are also super scrumptious. One of my favorites though is the Santa Barbara burger which is on sourdough with avocado. I think this is one of their signature burgers. It's really divine. Fresh, delicious, the sourdough toast grilled to perfection. They also have a nice selection of drinks including a strawberry lemonade. You go inside, order, and they give you a buzzing wait timer like you get in other restaurants to tell you your table is ready. They cook your food up fresh and it's ready quite rapidly. The inside seating is booths, and there is outdoor seating as well. The only drawback to outdoor seating is that it is on Herndon in this location and so it's a tad bit noisy. However this location is conveniently located in the Jo Anne's and Walmart plaza between Clovis Avenue and Sunnyside on the north side. Just great for a break if you have a day of shopping in Clovis planned. They do also have salads but I can never get past the burgers. So good, so fresh; they certainly deserve their success! You can also order ahead and they will bring it out to your car for curbside delivery, I have done that at other locations and in other cities especially when the pandemic was at its height. read more

I love The Habit and I used to come to this location pretty often, but I haven't since the Friant location opened up. I came into this location for dinner after running some errands in Clovis and was reminded of its more annoying aspects, which include the erratic parking situation and that the facing is terrible on a summer night, beating directly into the front door and windows. It was very busy and you realize once the place is full that it is smaller than it appears. It's also, despite only being a few years old, really starting to show some signs of wear. The bathrooms are a bit dingy and the seats where you wait for your order are breaking apart - I thought I'd sat on a pile of crumbs. I also had to sit here while waiting for my order because seats were either taken, or taken up by people's bags to block a 4-top (the only accessible seat was dirty), etc etc. Clean-up could've been a bit tighter. People also avoid sitting near the front seats because of the sun beating in, and the patio is unusable at this time of year. There's a communal high table, which I eventually found a seat at, but it's not very comfortable and nobody seems to like sitting that close to anyone else. Anyway, the staff were fine but did that thing where they rush the order because it's so rote for them. I got my usual order of a charburger with cheese and, since I couldn't make my mind up, half and half green beans and fries. The green beans were a little burnt in places - I'm guessing they were fried from frozen. The fries were underdone. The burger was fine, the usual standard. I usually really enjoy eating at The Habit but I was in a hurry to get out of here, and I'll definitely actively avoid it on summer evenings in future. read more

We used to really enjoy stopping in for a quick lunch, but the last time was just like today. $22.00 with a tip for 2 regular chz burger and 2 extra crispy fries. Fries were under cooked and cold. Burgers were cold. It's almost like they were prepared ahead. Placed order, stood outside the door to pick up as soon as called. Still, cold soggy food. I sent Habit CS an email a month or so ago. They graciously responded with the offer of 4 burgers with cheese, or that amount applied to any other item. We used all, two right away and the last two a week or so later. Unfortunately, nothing had changed that we could tell. Today we dropped in because we were in a hurry and were hungry. Here are the results of our visit. 1) Black tea and tropical had been mixed doing neither one justice. 2) Both sides of fries were below room temperature. 3) Hamburger barely more than dining room temperature and well below kitchen temperatures. 4) No signage stating that sandwich could not be made a meal, and therefore overpriced. In the past Habit sent coupons and they did their job, they got us to return. Please don't bother sending coupons, I think we have found this store below what it ought to be and certainly below most chain hamburger stores. This was my first time eating at The Habit Burger Grill, as I am In-n-Out regular! I went there knowing what I was going to get because I had a coupon for a free "charburger" with cheese. I was pleasantly surprised with the burger! It had just the right amount of tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and the grilled onions which gave it a kick of awesomeness! I also ordered some fries and a drink. The fries tasted good. They were unsalted but they did have packets of salt available. If your yearning for something different from the usual fountain drinks, I suggest giving their strawberry limeade drink a try. It's delicious! I've made several orders through DoorDash and through the habit website and every single time I've tried to add bacon and every single time they leave it off. I get charged extra for bacon yet they never put it in my burger. I know it's a small thing but 3 times in a row through DoorDash and twice from the website is just ridiculous. read more

I've had Habit a few times and it's always satisfying every time. I remember when they first opened and it was a challenge to find seating. They are still busy today, but it is more spread out so it is easier to find seating. My husband had the double charburger which came with caramelized onions, mayo, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. I had the portabella burger which came with portabella mushrooms, melted White American cheese, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, caramelized onions, pickle, and roasted garlic aioli on a toasted bun and I added the bacon to it. My husband got fries and I got onion rings. The onion rings were perfect. I had them with ranch and ketchup and I even used ranch, jalapenos and banana peppers for my burger. So this is the first time I've brought my wife to Habit it and this is probably my fourth or fifth time. My wife is not a big fan of hamburgers but I talked her into grabbing a burger for lunch. I've been to numerous habit burgers and for some reason this meal was totally different than any other I've had. Everything was super cold except for the meat. It was a really strange combination. The buns felt like they just came out of a freezer or a very cold icebox the lettuce was cold and everything else was cold which made the hamburger turn cold very fast. My wife mentioned it was probably the worst hamburger she's ever had. If we didn't have such a short amount of time on lunch we would've returned everything and asked for a different one to be made. But as you know it takes a little while to order here and even longer to get your food especially during the lunch rush. I will say though, the onion ring and green bean combo we're pretty good. Monday Memorial Day. By far the worst service ever. 30 minutes to get our meals. I don't blame the employees. I blame people like ourselves that keep going back in to a company that prioritizes Uber Eats and Door Dash customers over in house customers. The food is good but not that good at The Habit. Plus our order was wrong and our food was cold. My personal opinion is that if more people would give these guys a bad rap then maybe, just maybe they would get there act together. Today went to Habit and for a change we thought we'd order cheese burgers instead of the Santa Barbara which we usually enjoy. The clerk told us as we picked up our order that condiments were located on the aisle location. Boy are they ever pulling back. If you want your burger good and tasty, you've got to get that stuff and doctor them up. They were a boring and plain tasting burger as picked up at the counter. We usually get from Carls the star burgers and they are delicious as is. So much better and no doctoring needed. Habit is really slipping and lacking any good sauces built in to make the burger delicious as picked up from counter. They play horrible music and way too loud and very annoying. We'll never return here at Clovis Habit and will do without the Santa Barbara burger cause they'd probably start screwing them up too. Good fries still! This place is a joke. The last 2 times I've ordered for curbside my orders were wrong. I order for a family of 5 so once I get home and realize it's wrong I am not driving all the way back and they aren't helpful at all when I call like it's somehow my fault. Yesterday I ordered 5 meals and it took 55 minutes in curbside. It was supposed to be 15 minutes. They finally bring my food out and no kids drinks and no fries in the kids meals. So another 5-10 min of getting out of the car and waiting. Get home to eat and I cannot eat cheese so I ordered just a burger with no cheese and guess what! Smothered in cheese. We all ordered lemonade and they were all watered down and tasted disgusting so those all went down the drain. Save your money and time and go somewhere else. read more

I only tried the Clovis Branch twice. Always clean inside, and the outside Patio seating area. Staff is pleasant and Cheerful , Attitude is welcoming . As far as the quality of the Burgers and fries , its filling and tasty , I also tried the Pastrami , I would not go there if I was you , its best @ TOGOS Joints. Unfortunately, with an empty dining room, I still had to wait 48 minutes before my order was filled. Bottom bun/ mayo, pickle, lettuce, tomato. Uh, hello? The construction is just weird and that's why I can't give this 4 stars. First I like my lettuce/tomatoes on the top bun. The pickle on the bottom with the meat, onion. I also like a bit of mustard. If not, then give me hamburger sauce. Ya know? *sighs* Still this place is developing a nice crowd. Lots of teens and preppy's hanging out. Lots of young families bringing the kids, etc. I was there before 5pm so I got to see lots of Seniors too. Which is ok. It's still a nice, clean place to eat. Give it at least a year and we'll see how clean it stays. I'd go here for the SHAKES and ice cream. You can't go wrong with that. Maybe get a new manger instead of the giggly 20 year old who has 10 extra sides of fries with no orders for them letting them rot on the counter and can't get orders for pick up correct worth beans. My first time ever to a Habit Burger Grill and was impressed with the great team and customer service provided. I wasn't too hungry, so I just ordered some fries and onion rings. The nice lady in front took my order quickly and shouted it out to the cooks to get things started. They give you a pager that lights up when your meal is ready. I liked the decor, very low-key but modern (well, late 2000's modern). The setup has outdoor tables and a long, communal table for solo diners. I liked how open the kitchen was, you can watch your food being cooked. Over-salted rings and fries were a bit much, and the fries were under-done, but they were both tasty. Everyone behind the counter worked like a well-oiled machine. All had smiles on, a rarity in fast-food I've found. Everything was very clean and they took sanitation to heart. Curbside is always slow. The first time I waited over 30 minutes and thought it just must be a busy Wednesday night. I have ordered curbside 3 more time and each time I have to wait over 30 minutes for my food to come out. By then it's always soggy and the order is incomplete missing multiple items. Tonight however I had to wait upwards of 40 min and had to call just so someone could send someone out and was still missing items. Terrible customer service. The food may be good, but this location has messed up my orders quite a few times. I've ordered curbside and they have taken a long time that I've had to go inside. My order has been given on accident to other cars and I've had to wait inside for it (defeating the purpose of ordering online/curbside to begin with). Was about to post when my husband just told me we are missing part of our order. Missing our entrees - 2 salads. Looks like we will continue to wait. Following up - got the salads at 8. The rest of the food got soggy while we waited. I heard a lot of people frustrated with staff so I didn't say anything negative myself. Please fix the order system. Manager Megan at this location is RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL & IMMATURE! We've eaten at this location on a monthly basis for years! Management is a hit & miss. For the last two years it seems to have improved until this past Friday night. The person who took our order made some errors. When our food was ready we let them know right away & they were going to make it right. After waiting another 20 minutes it was still made wrong yet again. Manager Megan took a nasty attitude about it. We understand places get busy & workers may get stressed but when your a so called manager, control your attitude! She then had the audacity "to throw" the condiments at my husband?! What kind of manager does this? So unprofessional & immature! Before we left I went up to her to let her know I did not appreciate her attitude & there was no reason to treat customers the way she did! Her sassy response was "what do you expect me to do"? An excellent fast food burger. It's up there with my other favorites... In & Out, Five Guys, and Whatabutger. Just like the other restaurants I mentioned I always get the same thing. Plain double cheeseburger, extra cheese. To me a burger is all about three things, the bread, the cheese and most importantly, the meat.
