I ordered 3 Chicken Caesar Salads, two of which I paid an extra $4 and some change for each order. The one regular Caesar salad a few pieces of chicken and had the most burnt, thinnest and driest chicken ever!!!! The so called extra chicken salads had the regular amount of chicken. The fact that each salad was about $15 and the extra chicken would have been almost $20, the quality and amount of chicken is just ridiculous! Do not come to this location!! So the salad was OK it was huge a lot of greenery. It was a mixed up iceberg and a little Romain. Maybe a little spring mix a weird mixture and all the bells and whistles some tomatoes and cucumbers and croutons and of course the tuna on top is what I was going for that protein Nevertheless, again you started eating or getting like oh I'm kind of full. I want to start this comment off by saying the person who took my order was extremely professional and had great customer service, however, something did not translate from her to whomever prepared my order. She repeated my order and I heard her repeat my order to who prepared it so I'm unsure what went wrong.The fries were extremely salty. I could not even eat them. Also, I asked for extra lettuce on my burger. They put the lettuce on the outside of the burger and none on the inside of the burger before wrapping it up. I had to take the lettuce off of both sides of the burger before being able to see the burger itself. I really wished I would've checked my order before I left. I feel like I wasted my money as a result of the sandwich falling apart and the fries being non-edible. read more

My first time at this location, it looked pretty clean like most Habits are. Workers are friendly and efficient. It's weird bc it used to be a Boston Market, but the space looked bigger when it became Habit Burger, more spacious than it was as Boston Market. Will come again when I feel like a burger. read more

3060 E 9th St Oakland, CA 94601 This is "The Habit Burger Grill" at Fruitvale Station in East Oakland. It has only been open for about 3-4 months, so it still looks new! Nice modern decor, plenty of seats, and very spacious. My job finished up nearby, and I was at this location at around 8:30pm. Yes, right before closing. Should it matter if a customer places an order near closing time? Well, let's see. I walked in and the young lady took my order at the counter. She advised me they would be closing soon, so I should order my food to-go. (They also have electronic kiosks). After looking over the menu, I ordered- - Char Burger w/ Cheese, $6.89 - "50/50" of fries and onion rings, $4.69 Total + tax= $12.77 (in-person order) I was told my order would take 10-mins to cook. They give you a buzzer/pager to carry around. When it goes off, your order is ready! While I was waiting, I walked around and took pics for my Yelp review. I also watched them work in the kitchen. I used to work in fast food decades ago, so I'm familiar with what's going on. They were already cleaning the char grill, so how did they cook my hamburger patty? I believe they pre-cooked the hamburger patty and then heated it up on the flat grill. That's why my Char Burger had little or no char grill flavor or aroma. The burger itself was good, but it lacked that unique char grill flavor. The Onion Rings and Fries were fine. Nice size serving of fries, along with 4-5 rings. Onion Rings were crispy. Perfect fries should be delicately crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Holding time for best quality would be 7-10 mins. Habit Burger uses a thicker cut of potato, so the fries are good longer. Overall a good experience. I have to return and enjoy a real char grilled burger. Free parking read more

Newer restaurant - very clean - and food quality is excellent - just as at any other Habit. Went around noon for lunch. Ordered at the self pay kiosk - the one nearest to the traditional cashiers wouldn't accept credit cards. We tried three different ones and non worked. I have a feeling the previous person couldn't get payment to work as there was a bunch of food in the 'cart' that I had to delete all one by one. We went to the other kiosk - one of the two next to each other and that one worked fine. I like these burgers very much. Somehow of all the 'better burger' options that are so popular now - this is my favorite. Has something to do with the ambiance and drink choices and side choices I think. Abundant drink choices all very good - and many non cola options. Teas and lemonades all very tasty. I usually try a bunch of different ones filling up only half way each time. Side choices vary between restaurants. Some have more of the unusual sides - some have less. For this trip ordered plain fries and didn't explore what else was available. Fries for the record were perfect. Burger was perfect as well. They do them without corner cutting. I've tried almost everything on the menu and nothing is less than perfect. Ambiance is very nice. Big surf themed photos and paintings. All restaurants have this but the decor varies slightly from place to place. Here there was a big picture that spanned much of the one large wall. The location offers outdoor seating and I noticed one group with masks on chose to eat outside. So if your hyper aware of germs still there is comfortable seating next to the parking lot. I frequently pass by the Fruitvale Station Shopping Center on my way to the freeway and had noticed that a new Habit had replaced the old Boston Market. I recently decided to stop by for lunch. Many shops in the Center have closed since I was last here, so the Habit is a nice new addition. Parking was plentiful and I parked right in front of the restaurant. Entering I was warmly, welcomed by Angie. She took my order and reconfirmed it. I paid, got my pager and selected a table to sit. This restaurant was large and spacious with tables, booths and bar tables. When my pager buzzed, I went to the counter to pick up my food from a worker, who handed me the food with a smile. My Charburger with white cheese was nicely assembled and was tasty. Fries were hot with a nice crisp. The restaurant was very nice and workers were very friendly. Food was well prepared. Those are wining combinations and I might be dining here instead of my regular location when I have a craving for Habit. read more

Food was good but service was a bit slow (they weren't busy or I would've taken that into consideration before commenting on that.) We ordered for curbside pick up and was told it would be ready within 15 minutes, we arrived 20 minutes later and still waited an additional 5-7 minutes before the order was brought out (I contemplated going inside a couple times) However, food was good and fresh which is why I went with 4 stars. Great addition to the Fruitvale station plaza. Some of the other establishments are dated and lost it's touch over the years. The Habit is a refreshing option and I'm glad we finally got one in Oakland. It's clean and organized. There's kiosks if you wanna order yourself or you can have an employee do it at the register. There's a pepper bar of jalapeños, banana peppers and pepperoncinis. A station for extra dips or sauces if you please. They haven't denied or charged me extra for sauces either. The sandwiches are good and juicy. My favorite one is the steak sandwich on sourdough. Fries are light and crisp. Their onion rings are super crunchy. My favorite is the tempura green beans. A salad I've tried so far is the Santa Barbara Cobb. They forgot the avocado and I didn't realize until I was back at work. (This is why you gotta always double check the food, especially for pickup orders!) The salad was a good size though and pretty filling. I do not prefer the shredded ice burg lettuce, I would definitely sub for the chopped romaine or mixed greens. Great to see that the habit burger is close by where I live and where I shop the burgers are very good and I love their onion ring.

Used Kiosk to place order. All we ordered were sides, they made them and then let our food sit for 10min. It wasn't until my husband asked for help with our order that they bagged everything. The customer service regarding their bathroom policy is pitiful. I entered the store and asked to use the bathroom to which they declined; when I asked them why they told me restrooms were for customers only. I would have had no problem with this if they had merely posted a sign indicating as such. You see this all the time at restaurants that are properly rather than poorly owned and operated! That sounds vicious, I understand, but the problem with this ambiguity is customers are not sure if they are being unfairly denied or treated for whatever reason, which then in turn impacts goodwill. Instead, the manager told me to try going to Starbucks or the donut shop next door so they could get me business? How this place barely open and it's already shitty. Managers (Jose) and some other dude there are terrible to their employees and terrible with customers. The only thing good about the place were three cashiers. Pretty sure it was jasmine, Roberto, and some other girl. Very nice and patient people they didn't get mad or inpatient when I kept asking for sauce or asked questions. The food, staff, and customer service was amazing on Saturday. The chefs made my burgers very well and the cashiers were very nice and welcoming. I saw however a manager named Jose who was being harsh on the cashiers when none of the customers including myself felt bothered or uncomfortable.
