Maybe I'll wake up some morning, the lights will come on, the shower-head will drench my dome, the sun will rise in east, the coffee will drip, and I'll suddenly understand why people develop cult-like affinities for SoCal's chain burger joints. I mean, I like In-N-Out more than I like McDonald's. And I like The Habit Burger more than In-N-Out. Which is to say, of the chain burger joints in Redding, The Habit Burger is probably my favorite. (I've never even bothered with Five Guys.) But I also like Shell more than Valero, and I like Chevron more than Shell, and I don't care much for a single one of the whole lot. If I had an electric vehicle, I wouldn't miss any of them -- not for a second. It's the same with McDonalds, In-N-Out, and The Habit Burger. My burger and fries were decent, and that's all. The restaurant was clean and conveniently located in a major east-side shopping center (I was there for Lowe's), and that's all. The service was assembly-line efficient, and that's all. You can get a better, similarly priced burger at locally owned Maxwell's, and while you're there you can have yourself a local craft IPA and watch the Giants game. It's a slam-dunk, people. YUM YUM YUM!!! Love the variety of options on the menu---if you don't feel like a burger, grab a tri tip instead. The burgers were great and juicy, the fries were just so-so. There's a competitor that doesn't make as good of burgers, but the fries are better. It's the menu and variety of options that adds uniqueness to this delicious burger joint! Everyone in Redding has their fave go-to burger joint, so I'm going to skip all the blasts and tell you what I think of The Habit. This place is always busy, which to me is a good sign! They have limited seating, which is a big problem. They do have heat lamps outside if you end up seating there. The ambiance is nice. I love the char-broiled burgers! It provides a unique taste, and like others said.. It doesn't leave you with the heavy feeling. The fries are not my personal favorite, but their sweet potato fries are delicious! I also like their Teriyaki chicken sandwich. I would request the sauce on the side, unless you love your sandwich doused in sauce. All in all.. Go try it! Veggie burger is yummy, with cucumber, tomatoes, sprouts and big leafy lettuce. You can add avocado too. Delish! Other choices: chicken burger, ahi burger and tri tip. Anything can be made into a salad and everything's really fresh. Additionally, there are lots of "sides" to choose, from onion rings, to fried green beans and sweet potato fries. I tried The Habit for the first time today. I loved it!! The fries were really good, nice and golden/crispy like I like them. The burger was delicious! Great price for the quality and amount of good you get. Redding needed a place like this. Today was still considered a training day so all the proceeds went to charities. Awesome idea!! I only gave them 4 stars because they were a little heavy handed on the pepper but it was training day so I won't hold it against them. I ordered a veggie burger dressed original (lettuce, tomato, oni, pickle, ketchup and mayo) and added white American cheese . I also ordered fries. And it was... good. The location itself was tight, about 10 or so small booths and a few high tops. They did offer an outdoor seating area but it was a bit chilly so I had to take the order to go. After giving Habit Burger another try, I can say it has changed dramatically in its operation. The staff taking your order no longer leave the register to yell your order to the people receiving the order on the Point of Sale program they punch your order into. This helps speed up ordering and is much more personable. From this experience the food expediters are quick in assembling orders and making sure your food is fresh and hot. Here here Habit. Went tonight for the first time and I had the California club sammich and it was da bomb! Comes in a real togo container and looks more like restaurant (sit down) quality. My son had the double char with cheese and he's a fan too. Since we were concerned about the wait times as others had mentioned we placed our order online and it was ready as promised. So my boyfriend and I were on our way to Weaverville and we don't come to Redding often but we were hungry and it was getting late so most places were closing. We figured we would just go to Del Taco in Red Bluff like usual but I needed a burger in my life and The Habit is right off the freeway! So, I was sold alone on the convenience. As we went inside we were greeted by smiling faces and the decor was very nice! We told them we were from Chico and have never been there before and George walked us through the whole ordering process, with a smile while still being professional. Then we waited for the food.. Oh. My. Goodness!! This burger takes me back to the days of barbecuing in the backyard. It's one of the tastiest burgers I've ever had. It tasted like it was hot off the grill and the buns were so soft and thick enough to keep all those toppings and patty inside. I got some onion rings and a strawberry malt which were also delicious. I really wish I lived closer because they definitely give burger places a run for their money (especially In N Out) thank you guys for having great staff, atmosphere, and food! I really like the burgers here however it's a small place and when busy, it almost seems like they don't have quite enough seating. The Habit Burger Grill is the shining light in an otherwise abysmal collection of fast food restaurants in Redding. I have visited around 10 times and have never been disappointed. The food tastes fresh and authentic and the selection is well rounded. There's something for everyone here, from burgers to sandwiches to salads. All taste great and are reasonably priced. The only bummer about this place is the location. It's inconvenient to get to and park, but don't let that dissuade you from trying their killer burgers. read more

Stopped in the Redding location in late January of 2016. My first time in The Habit ( thanks YELP ) and it was every bit as good as promised. I'm a HUGE In-N-Out fan and it hurts me a bit to say this...but I think the Habit has a better burger. Now if they would just wise up and not have only one register open when there is a line of 5 people...they might really have a great business model. AGAIN this place has screwed up! We had not been there in months because they totally ruined our entire order but went tonight only because we had coupons from corporate because of their mess up. We placed a simple order 2 burgers, fries and a ceasar salad with dressing on the side. Before leaving I asked if the dressing was on the side and the young man assured me that it was. I love The Habit, I try to visit a location whenever I can when I'm out of town. This one was exceptional, I could tell my dad was diggin' it, especially his Santa Barbara style burger. I want to start with that because my three star review is solely based off the stride of the employees (usually always the cooks) when it comes to filling orders 30min prior to close. I get it. I've worked in the device industry for YEARS, I've also been a cook and I know what it's like when you just want to clock out and be done with the day but being noticeably irritated when customers are still coming in and making blatant comments about the time, giving dirty looks, and talking freely about how "ridiculous" it is for people to be coming in a half hour before you close is unacceptable, and rude. Have your manager change the hours of the store or find a different job because that's life and things like that happen especially in food service constantly. It irritates me more than anything to walk into a place with my starving toddlers and just want to feed him and get out of there. I don't want to have to deal, and shouldn't have to deal with irritated employees and bad customer service. The manager should be on this and not let it happen also.. it's happened on more than one occasion and that's the only reason this topic is review worthy. read more

This appears to be the In-N-Out rival in town. Good prices, fairly simple menu, food made to order. What gives them their 'edge' is the fact that their burgers are charbroiled instead of fried. Our first trip here, I was in burger love. A few differences I noticed (in comparison with INO): squishier, not as toasted, sesame-seed bun, shredded lettuce, and mayo only, as opposed to the alternate ('fry sauce'). Upon continued visits, I concluded that I only like The Habit's fries better. Burgers are tasty, but I actually prefer their Chicken Club: grilled chicken, avocado, bacon. YUM! They also have decent salads, a great option for the vegetarians. Being a sweet potato connoisseur, I ordered them one day and was very disappointed. They tasted nothing like a sweet potato fry should taste, but rather like heavy oil. We couldn't even eat them. Stick to the regular fries. They are always busy, so be prepared to wait. It is nice that they have the beeper device to call you when your food is ready, so you can sit outside on the patio and not have to worry about standing around the counter anxiously awaiting your order. :) read more

If this would've been my first time there, I would NEVER go back! The bun on my burger was hard and the fries were cold. The girl in the red shirt at the pass was so rude! When my order came up, I asked her for some fry sauce. She threw it in my bag and shoved the bag at me. The people before me asked her for forks and she just tossed them on their tray. One fork made it, the other dangled on the side. I won't be back for a very long time, if ever, due to the inconsistency of the food and the rudeness of that one employee. A good burger in a nice environment. My wife really likes the menu options. This has become my favorite place to go for a lunch out. It is your typical go through the line and order setup, but then they give you a pager/buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready. The service is fast and the staff are friendly and courteous. They are often busy at lunch time and an open table can be difficult to find indoors, but there is an outdoor seating area and there are always tables open outside. The parking lot is usually busy because of other nearby shops, but I have always been able to find parking fairly close. read more

The Habit used to be a great place to get a decent burger and excellent fries. Since they opened, the quality of food and service has gone downhill. Today, I went in at 2:15 to get lunch and they were having an issue with their registers. That's was okay, technology doesn't always work the way we need it to. However, that does not mean that the staff need to be rude and incompetent. The cashier was treated customers with a friendly "what do you want?!" When brought to the managers attention, he excused her rude behavior with a "we're really stressed today." The restaurant was no busier than I've seen it, but hey, who cares about customers. In the end, I can normally overlook poor service if the food is decent. Well, my order was completely wrong and the avocado on my burger was brown. Will never return to The Habit and encourage my friends to never go as well. Don't waste your money on poor service and poor food. read more

We have eaten at Habit Burger everytime we have driven through Redding and have had a great experience. On Dec. 27 we stopped at Habit Burger and had our usual order, mine with no veggies due to allergies to Onions. Someone put veggies on the bun and removed them rather than get a new bun and left the onions behind. I took a bite and problems began. My husband called and left a message emailed them and we have not heard a word from them. My food allergies are painful for days and to not get a response was sad. Would we eat there again?
