Amazing!!! The food is so fresh and the owners (it's family owned)! Support your local businesses, y'all! They take so much pride in their food, and for good reason. They took the time to see what flavors we liked and explained and suggested dishes for us. The hummus and babaganoush were truly amazing. The plates were clean before the food even arrived and we would've ordered more if we weren't so full by the end! They give very substantial portions and do not skimp on the protein. Yum! So good. Best hummus I have ever had. After picking my daughter up from a flight we stopped in. It was almost closing time but that didn't matter. The food was hot and fresh. The service was very friendly considering the time of night. The restaurant was very clean and the pictures on the walls are beautiful. I used to absolutely love this restaurant, met the owner when we first went there in 2018. Regularly visited and was always satisfied up until a year ago when the food was practically inedible, Fofo salad that I love was straight peanut butter and dolmas were filled with crunchy rice. Fast forward to today hoping that was just an off day... got crunchy uncooked rice dolmas again and the now Fofo salad had lettuce and jalapeños. Such an unexpected great spot! A coworker discovered it while here last month, and we finally made it out to give it a try with her. We were greeted by the owner who was extremely friendly! He sat us and our server came over very quickly. She was very sweet and gave great service. I had the gyro and it was delicious! For my sides I got the Greek salad and the hummus. Both were fabulous! I'll start off by saying the food I did get was authentic and great. That being said the ordering experience sucked. I ordered via Grubhub and got a message saying my order was ready for pickup. I showed up to the restaurant and was immediately told they were out of gyros. The man then scolded me and said "you shouldn't be ordering on grubhub because they take a percentage from us on every sale". So I asked for my money back (since I already paid via grubhub) and he said I need to contact grubhub for that. Since I was already there I ordered a chicken wrap which was very good and quickly made. In the end I got ahold of grubhub and they gave me my money back. But idk why this restaurant is listing themselves on grubhub if they don't want to use it? And why they are advertising items they don't have on grubhub? And why they acknowledged my order was "ready for pickup" making me drive there if it wasn't even available? All I can think is they wanted me to come to them so I would order something else, which I did. Not a great experience. With all that being said I would still recommend this place. This place used to be really good, but the food and service has all changed (maybe it changed ownership?). The falafel are a totally different recipe and shape and everything and they're just not that great. The baba ghanoush here used to be my fave, but now it's just average. Also, it took a really long time to even get a menu, much less order. Seemed like there were only 2 people running the entire restaurant, one serving and one cooking, and you could tell they're cooking one plate of food at a time. We will go elsewhere next time for Mediterranean food. read more

Was nervous when we arrived for dinner and I was the only person there, but that quickly resolved. We ordered a kabob plate with a salad and falafel for our sides, and added an extra kabob, a salad and an order of hummus. Just remember a "Greek" salad here just means a traditional chopped salad with feta, but still very tasty. The portions are more than generous and the flavors were spot on. The falafel had a nice crunch while moist but not mushy inside, hummus consistency was perfect for the bread thickness and the flavor on the meat kabobs made our tastebuds dance. Honestly, I didn't love everything I ate - but I am glad I tried everything that we ordered. Mom ordered the Sampler Appetizer Platter, Nonnie ordered the Chicken Shawarma sandwich w/fries, Aunt Mar ordered the Chicken Shawarma Platter w/a Greek Salad and Chicken & Vegetable Soup, and I ordered the Chicken Tawook Kabob w/Tabouli Salad and Fofo Salad. **note ordering any "Platter" comes with rice garners you two sides. Sides include any choice of appetizer (excluding the sampler platter), fries, soup, and/or salad. I would also encourage you to dine-in if you can. The interior designer and/or decorator did a superb job of mixing classic decore with modern touches. My recommendation for the leary: Order from the "Sandwich" section. Everything is under $8 and comes with fries that are super good. Even if you order your meal to-go, @ least you'll get a glimpse of the inside when you pick up your order. Falafel and fries will DEFINITELY be included in my next order. I hope to taste the lentil soup and baklava soon. Visited this spot recently with a friend and absolutely loved it! Lovely family that knows how to make amazing food and how to make sure the customers feel welcome. For appetizers, we tried the classic hummus which was simply delicious. Very creamy and flavorful. Also, the stuffed grape leaves were very tasty. I heard the sampler platter was worthy of trying but that itself is a meal so I strayed away haha I was quite hungry after work so I went for the mixed grill, which has the lamb, kafta, and chicken skewers. If I told you the meat was really good, that'd be an understatement. It was amazing, each piece was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. When I get a chance, I will for sure be back here, and will definitely recommend others to visit as well! Can't wait to be back! read more

This place was great. It was the second time me and my husband had drove all the way from Frisco to eat here. First time we drove because we were curious to try it going off of all the reviews. But they did not disappoint one bit. First time we both had the shwarma sandwiches and it was very filling. This time we tried the chicken kabob platter and the hala platter for my husband with chicken vegetable soup, ceasar salad,and hummus and greek salad for my husband. My husband being a 6'3" 280 pound man eats alot so for him to not finish all his food and only eat half means there was plenty of food on this platter to fill anybody who has a big appetite. The chicken kabob i had was just right not too much seasoning and marinate to over power the chicken but just right. And the rice was outstanding just wish we had more. We were able to meet the owner who was very friendly and nice. And our server had outstanding service who actually also had an influence on us to come back for the second time as well as the sensational food. read more

My wife and I walked into this restaurant totally by accident and decided to stay and try it out. So glad we did as we've not had much experience with Mediterranean food. First impressions: inside is clean and bright, well appointed. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Ahmed is the owner and very attentive and interactive with his guests. Food: I ordered lamb with hummas and Greek salad as sides. Wife had chicken shawarma with lentil soup and tabouli salad. The lamb was tender and nicely seasoned. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma, and I'm not really sure what I ended up with. It was more like a blackened Cajun chicken. The pita bread didn't even look like it's seen an oven in the last month. The tzatziki sauce, while tasting like it should, had a paste like texture. The rice was nice though. The portion was on the smaller side. We went to have shawarma, but the quality of it is really gone downhill. The chicken is more like ground chicken and many sides like pickles were missing. Notes upon entry...mirrors make it look larger and huge black and white pictures of the Middle East and  Greece and Egypt are main decor.  Tables are all numbered and everything is very clean. Only two other tables were occupied at noon. While there, three more tables filled with guests, and though it is a smaller establishment, it was crowded. DO NOT expect lame lipton tea if you order tea for your drink! Iced tea is spiced tea and tasty! Loved it! We ordered the sampler which includes baba ghanoush, grape leaves, hummus, fattoush salad,  Falafel, and pita bread. Baba ganoush was very good, the hummus was good also, though not as creamy as I am used to eating. Couldn't tell if the bread was fresh made in house or from a package.  The pita bread was good though , fluffy  and warm. The fattoush was made mainly of pita bread chips and bell pepper. I've had better but I couldn't say it was bad. The falafel  was served  5 minutes after the rest of the sampler arrived at our table.  There was more lettuce  as a garnish on the plate with  Falafel than there was in the entire fattoush salad.Grape leaves were good, no bitterness. First major complaint, no tahini sauce to be had...Wish I had known before we ordered. Might have skipped this place altogether. I love tahini sauce. Falafel with no tahini? Come on! Never heard of it! Most people don't have it(tahini sauce) in their home frig- I do!  This was a major disappointment, but not as disappointing as the taste of the falafel. It didn't taste like any Falafel I've ever had. It wasn't bad but it sure didn't seem like it was falafel. Next, we tried to order the Hala Platter. But they were out of he lamb chop on that. Instead we split a mixed grill that our wait person suggested. That came with kafta, lamb, and chicken, along with two sides, we chose tabouli and hummus.  The tabouli had huge pieces of parsley, not used to such large pieces(usually micro chopped). Tabbouleh also had very little bulgur wheat again not what I'm used to but it wasn't bad. Tabouli could have used more lemon for sure. The mixed grilled  chicken was very good with a nice char on it, kafta seem to be cheap ground beef as you could tell by the texture, there was gristle. But not bad. Lamb was delicious and I was thrilled with it. I LOVE LAMB! But, the yogurt sauce that accompanied  the mixed Grill tasted like yogurt with no discernable  garlic, nor Dill, or any flavor, just yogurt. Not really sure what they were going for there. The rice was very GOOD, mellow as it should be. Not enough of any of the traditional flavors I was hoping for... the tea may have had the most spice of all. I wished for more garlic and more lemon. Folks who crave Mediterranean flavors might be disappointed(like me).  People who just like Mediterranean food  will probably like  the offerings at Hala Cafe. Next big complaint...our table was never bussed. After our appetizer? Nope. After our meal when we ordered dessert? Nope. And dessert ...they offer 3 and we hoped to order one of each. Nope. They had only the Basboosa. I did not care for it. To me, it tasted like bland cornbread with ice cream on top and a very mild taste of caramel drizzled across it. The "cornbread" cake was soaked in the caramel but the flavor was almost undetectable. Really wished for some good ole baklava but that just tells you I like SWEET stuff. My lunch partner ate it up with glee! For sampler, mixed grill, dessert, and 2 drinks the total was $32 plus tip. As we were paying the bill at register, I noticed a sign that read "Lunch Specials". No one ever mentioned any specials as we were ordering. I am still in search of a replacement for Hedary's. This wasn't it for sure. It really was not bad at all. But if you say Mediterranean I expect much better falafel and definitely tahini sauce! Glad I tried it, and tho I dislike chain places....maybe I will try the Hala Guys next. read more
