I love Halcyon. I've been to all the locations in Austin my time living there, and I was ecstatic to see one here in Dallas. First off, I LOVE THE VIBES HERE. the music taste is great, the ambiance is awesome. If you want to come here to study, I advice you to rethink if you cannot focus in loud conversations and music. The music is quite loud, but it's perfect to browse casually on your laptop, bring your friends for some games (yes they have so many games!!), or drinks/smores. The reason why I gave 4 stars-- the Mayan hot chocolate was good but not great. The server was nice to describe the cinnamon and cayenne mixture of this drink before ordering, and I requested to put less cayenne. The spices were a good balance, however, my hot chocolate tasted more watery than I would've liked. I wish the drink was more milky. I did like how they added in animal crackers on the side- a cute touch! I'm sure there are other drink options I'd like better, but the Mayan hot chocolate didn't wow me. ***Don't get it if you're a fan of milky hot chocolate or make sure to request for milk in your cup. A friend suggested we meet here for lunch. Cute space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Nacho Tots and strawberry basil lemonade. My lunch partner tried the chicken pesto Flatbread and mango smoothie. Everything was really good. The nacho tots were bursting with flavor and every component was delicious. The strawberry basil lemonade was refreshing. Not sweet (if that's what you're looking for). I added a little Stevia and it was perfect for me. They also had lots of board games to play. We sat outside and there was a huge Connect Four game on one of the tables. I definitely would have pla6if we had more time. Cute place for a date, to work, or to hang out with friends. When I was in college, I had a chance to check out the Austin location of Halcyon many times so visiting the Dallas location was very nostalgic for me. The indoor space is very spacious, adorned with plants, and filled with a quiet buzz of conversation. Although this location is on Lower Greenville which is notorious for having less than ideal parking, Halcyon has a parking lot for customer parking right next to their location, which was a relief. I ordered a decaf americano with lavender and didn't *love* (it was really watered down) but be they were kind enough to let me swap it out for a lemonade. Although the pricing was a little steep (I paid $6 for my initial drink), I think the environment and service is well worth a visit! read more

Really can't recommend this place enough! My #1 study spot. Lately I've been coming here at least once a week to eat dinner and study for my exams. All the food I've had has been wonderful- filling but not so heavy that it will put me to sleep. There's always a lot seating on the weekdays and PLENTY of plugs. I hate going to places and realizing I haven't charged up, but never a problem here! The lighting is the the #1 reason I love it here so much (hear me out lol). So many coffee shops in DTX and everywhere are trying to be "hip" and keep it dark, which puts me to sleep. It's so bright here- so many windows and bright colors. Puts me in the best mood to get work done. Definitely come here if you want to get work done and get good food/drinks while doing so! read more

Everything is good here. Coffee, mixed drinks and food are all great. The Lavender mimosa is one of my favorite drinks here. I sometimes come here to get a little work done but the atmosphere is more lounge than coffee shop sometimes. There have plenty of seats and lots of outlets on the table top side of the coffee shop. The building is split in half with a lounge side with couches and a bar and "work" side with 2 and 4 person table tops. One of the things I like most about Halcyon is that they put on really chill but fun events during the week and all month. I've been to trivia night and succulent and wine events and had an amazing time. They also show movies which is fun. read more

Love this place. Anytime I come back home, I work from here. The staff is super nice/food is great and the overall vibe is energizing.

A small group of us decided to host our book club here. It was a great space to have a discussion, do solo remote work, enjoy or coffee or relax and watch a movie on their projector. I did not try the food, but the ambiance was really fantastic - a spacious, relaxed vibe on a Thursday night. They played Spider man, but it did not distract from the discussion. There were plenty of people, but it was not rowdy. If located closer to my home, I'd be regular. read more

I am updating my review from 2 stars to 5 stars. When I initially came here it wasn't my favorite, but it has been a few years since they have opened and I am in love. The vanilla soy latte with the animal crackers on the side is so delicious! I heard they had a chocolate chip + zucchini muffin which I had to try, and it is awesome!!! Date nights are amazing! My boyfriend and I come every Friday for their 1/2 wine + free smores + movie night. Then we come back the next day to play Sporkle trivia and get the most delicious cocktails!! The environment is awesome with local art, and I love when they play emo and indie music, but they also have like 90s hip hop and indie pop music. The staff is also very nice. This is a place I come to when I need to work, study, and unwind. Which I have literally done before. I was studying for an exam once and was drinking a coffee, then trivia started and I got a cocktail at the bar! I previously gave this location a poor review, but have updated it with the best score. So, my Run club and I finished a race at White rock Park and decided we would visit this restaurant for brunch. When we arrived, they were at a moderate pace. I am formed the server that we had eight coming, but they would also be more. So she put us at two tall tops near the bar. Perfect. Our server came over to us and he was delightful and he was training someone there were only four of us at the time, but more were arriving after the race we just had slowly the rest of our team members begin to trickle in, and the ambience went from delightful and pleasant to anxious and rude, one of the girls sitting by me, asked if she could put her food in because she had arrived early and the waiter snapped at her and informed her that he would not be doing that that he was overwhelmed with all the people that just came in. It may be just me, however, but a big crowd or two top I believe you should still approach and treat all of your guest the same way. Don't let a big crowd scare you. Every individual that was there to eat brunch that morning was very respectful very patient and would've been fine with our waiter and his trainee taking their time, but they immediately seen a big crowd and became very blunt. I could not decide between a blueberry pancake and a chocolate chip pancake so I asked if I could have one of each the waiter, then again snapped and told me he was not going to do that because the kitchen was too overworked to switch a modification like such. That's didn't make sense to me, especially since I've been a server and restaurant manager in the past. That instantly made me want to challenge that statement because from what I understand it's a simple modification you can type onto a ticket before sending it back . in the kitchen they would just pour one chocolate chip and one blueberry pancake. But instead of him even trying or just adjust his verbal delivery the way he spoke to me really turned me off from the restaurant. The person he was training seemed very sweet, I hope he doesn't pick up his colleagues snappy ways when dealing with a table larger than 8. The pancakes were not all that great the Mimosa flight was OK but not something that would make me wildly return to. Whenever I'm back on this side of town I highly doubt I will rush back over here for brunch . read more

Our first visit here was brunch today, and we liked it enough to come back, especially since it's in the 'hood. Halcyon has a unique vibe, populated primarily by millennial units, and decorated with touches of the Jetsons, which aired before most of them were born. It is nicely chilled when the weather is hot outside, a major plus in the Dallas summer months. With a few minor tweaks, this place could vault from good to great, quality of food-wise: Big D Benedict (smoked salmon benedict) **** (four stars)- a toasted English muffin (mine was dray and uninteresting, right out of the package) and hot tots (mine were crispy, but served room temp) would have transformed this dish to greatness. Chicken and Waffles *** (three stars)- a crisp waffle (ours was soft and mushy, a victim of the heat lamp for too long), a chicken breast large enough to be visible when served, and a fried egg would have elevated this dish to greatness. Other factors: Service was friendly and accommodating, gracefully handling the required mask obstacle to customer connection, offering extra sauces proactively, and offering coffee to go. Plastic ware was flimsy and did not hold up well to our food, ending the meal as unrecognizable gnurls of bent plastic. The venue and food is worthy of (mindfully handled) real metal utensils, COVID or not. Flights of mimosas (pick four out of 10 available) were fresh, relatively strong, and offered a crisp-tart counterpoint to the richness of the brunch dishes. I am so glad this place was open on the New Year's . The restaurant has a very millennial vibe. They have games that you can borrow and play while you are waiting on the food. Hot chocolate tasted good but it wasn't hot. The Vietnamese coffee was strong - perfect drink to wake you up in the morning after New Year's Eve. Chicken and waffles is supposedly their recommended item but it wasn't extra-ordinary. It was just like that if any other diner would serve. We ordered two plates of veggie skillet. One came with an omelet while the other one came with scrambled eggs . Don't know why . Both tasted the same though. This was the first time that I had been here and we got here right at 8:00! At first glance, we loved the vibes as it was very chill and spacious! We had a group of 8 and we had enough space to accommodate us! The staff were very friendly throughout our entire experience! We did have to go up in line to order our food however which was a little interesting and the food was okay in regards to taste and how much we paid. 5/5! I've always loved the vibe I get from here. There's a nice chill vibe, especially at night. As a "bar," they are really casual and calm. You're not going to find anybody rowdy or obnoxious, since everyone likes to keep to themselves and enjoy their own separate conversations. My favorite thing to do here is to come to the Saturday night trivia! I'm somewhat of a nerd, so trivia is right up my alley, and it's conducted in a pretty casual way, and the speakers ensure that no matter where you are sitting inside, you can hear the questions and submit your answers. My friends and I have come away with a couple of victories, which we got the smores to celebrate (super delish)! The drinks are pretty good too, especially if you like draft beer or coffee! They have a variety of coffee-based cocktails, and their happy hours make it easier on your wallet. I can't say I've eaten the food, but from seeing what my friends have ordered, it definitely looks appetizing. Overall, I see myself coming back to enjoy trivia over some drinks with friends and having a chill time. I can't really think of any cons, unless this kind of scene isn't your type. Parking can get a little difficult, but there's a ton of street parking in the neighborhoods adjacent if you don't mind the short (5 min) walk over. Nice little coffee shop that serves both depressant and stimulants -- booze and coffee! Went with my partner to sit down for an evening study session. Place was clean, price was good, and the beverages tasty. I love that they also provide food options and board games! And seating arrangements inside and outside patio. A few cons: 1/. I asked to have a table on the patio (that's right next to the busy street, so a bit dusty) to be wiped and the waitstaff gave me a wet-wipe cloth to do it myself. 2/. Does not provide heaters (at least to us) outside so if the weather is cold, beware. 3/. The inside of the cafe has an overpowering smell of sausages and bacon. 4/. When they do a movie night it can be disturbing to someone who just wants to enjoy a coffee/cocktail in peace. But all in all a big fan and will be back again! read more

Went here this weekend and had a really nice time! It is very loud in the building. But the decor is nice and the food is good! I ordered a mimosa flight which was something different and a way to try more than one flavor! The food to me was just OK. A pleasant heavy rainy day in Dallas; time for a cheerful breakfast so off to Halcyon we went. We found lots of nearby parking in a safe parking lot. We wound our way through the rain (or was that swam through the torrents) to the door where we were greeted, shown the umbrella parking lot, and the way to our inside table. Sitting outside on the expansive open patio was not a sane option for this breakfast swim outing and they didn't even suggest that. I noted a few patrons were working on laptops from the tables while watching the rain wash the world through the large windows. In under a minute we had place settings and water. I was certain it wasn't rain water as I noticed the cool swing stopper bottles of water well iced in a trough as we walked by. The waiter was cheerful, suggestive and complimented our selections. Even commenting our selection was making him hungry. Our order consisted of the Country Style Benny requested without the fried eggs, The Old Texas and shared Lemon Ricotta pancakes. For drinks it was hot chocolate and Black ice tea with lemon. Near to our table was a play area for children. I noted a young girl playing with a train on the table that an adult put back in the play area as they left. The background music was some of my favorites from the 1950's-1970's. Some Smokey Robinson, Spinners, and others. Brought a soothing smile to my soul. The hot chocolate came out with decorative foam and animal crackers. I had no idea there were penguin animal crackers and that has stirred comments from many penguin social media fans as I write. In less time than it took to check-in and review my Yelp stats, the scrumptious plates of our Egg Benedict selections began appearing. The flavors were quite exciting and kept us discussing how delightful they were. Both of us had spent a lot of years travelling all over Europe and we truly felt it reminded us of those times. Only thing missing was a overpowering smell of coffee. The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were amazing. Lots of lemon flavor and add to it the strawberries on top, we could have eaten them without the syrup. The service was impeccable. Multiple visits by the waiter and a subtle trip to the table by the manager. Obvious desire by the staff to show they appreciated our visit. Either that or they were checking to see if we had stopped dripping on their beautiful floor. A parting like from me was the tin box they bring the check out to the table.
