There's one room we always get sat at in this location and the tables are so close together that the server has to pull the table out so whoever is sitting on the inside can scoot in... But once they are in even with food on the table, you would have to move the table out the way to get out to go to the restroom or take a call, etc. on the other hand, the pros... The food is so good. I've been to both locations and I can say everything has so much flavor... Our server had the best recommendations and when we went against his recommendations, we thought maybe we should've listened to him i.e. the char sui baby back ribs (maybe try thr other style of ribs next time) Everything else was delicious: the drinks the apps, which I think are the star of this restaurant The black brick tower is a must so you can try all the main dumplings. We were a little disappointed because we ve tried the truffle rice a few times before and the truffle just wasn't as potent or prominent in this visit's dish. Usually, you can smell it soon as it hits the table. The decor is super cute. A lot of Basquiat and Basquiat inspired p things. The bathroom has all the chefs TV debuts on there which I think its a genius idea. We got there for our reservation and we werr sat immediately even though we were early. Parking can be a pain, but there is additional parking right behind the main parking lot.

Hales is definitely a cool spot. I think the problem is the seating especially on the high tops. I was seated with my family of 3 on Mother's Day weekend and it was difficult with a toddler but more so with the plates that we ordered. The table was too small for the amount of food we ordered and for our drinks. So it was difficult to enjoy the dining. However the food itself was delicious! Wow! We had the Blackbrick tower: great starter but really for 2 people. Their house rice was plentiful and flavorful. The ribs, duck breast and the calamari are definitely musts! Fantastic! I would return but please not on those high tops.

This was my first time at Hales Blackbrick, and all I can say is that it's worth the hype. Though I am a little more critical with Asian food since the best Asian food are found at a little hole in the walls. It was overall a great experience. I went on a Wednesday night with a big group. Brittany was taking care of us. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and the background of the history of how the restaurant came to be. The place had a dark moody vibe with art works from Basquiat. The menu was stacked with a great variety of good items. We started with the dumplings, (not pictured), and all the food we had looked amazing! Now, to the how the food actually tasted. I would say that it exceeded my expectations. I've had food from an upscale modern Asian type restaurant, and most of them left me disappointed, but this one wasn't bad. I don't even like Brussels stouts, yet it was really good, even tried the Gator! I was told that the eggroll was good, I found it to be okay. But everything else was great. At the end of our meal, Richard Hales himself came up to our table and asked us how it was. Highlight of the night. Presentation, good food, great service, and good company. I would say this was a very pleasant experience and would definitely visit again.

What? Are you serious? This place was delicious. The dumpling tower? The whole duck? Pork belly? All of it. Just order all of it!!!! 12.03.2026

I took my step mom for Mother's Day! She liked that a rose was given to her at the hostess stand. We got sat at the high top table but we didn't care for the chair as they were wobbly and felt unstable. It also felt just a tiny cramped. We ordered an abundance of food and took a LOT home to our husbands. Our favorite was the tiger shrimp. The truffle fried rice was great too! If you get the cauliflower, be aware of the Thai peppers as they are very spicy!! We liked that the chef comes out after food has been served to ask your thoughts about everything. I think if I were to go back, I'd like to sit in a booth or regular table next time.

I was skeptical at first given the high price tag for the amount of food that you were provided, but I left pleasantly surprised, and with tasting one of the best carbonara I have ever had, this was an awesome menu secret! Shhhh... I've had better Dan Dan noodles however, these are still really good. The ambience is perfect for a date night, it felt very romantic and intimate. It's also perfect for my friends hang out as majority of the menu is meant for sharing although portion sizes I still you are a little too small for that. Service was phenomenal. The owner even made his way to each table to personally thank us for coming in. Overall, five star experience and I would highly recommend.

Ohhhhhhh myyyyyy tastebuds! What an incredible, authentic and spectacular experience! From the warm welcome the moment you walk in to the exceptional service throughout, it's remarkable. The ambiance is beautiful, the bathroom is clean and the art is great! Chef Hales greets every table and you can tell it's sincere (and certainly appreciated). His wife and daughter were hostesses and they were kind. Britney, our server made great recommendations that we loved and devoured. The curry duck was delightful (for the regular duck, you've gotta reserve it ahead of time). The prosciutto and shrimp friend rice, the lamb dumplings and fried chicken were great! Simply excellent and refreshing. Prices were great and I can't wait to visit again when I'm in town. Check them out and enjoy!

If you love elevated Asian food and happen to be in Tampa, you must come to this restaurant. The standard dishes have a slight twist that make it above standard. Lets start with the soup dumplings. These were smaller than what I expected but extremely flavorful. These egg rolls were huge and great for sharing. I would pass on the Dan Dan noodles but the ribs, Yangzhou fried rice and chilled green beans were outstanding. All of the food has spice but not overpowering just enough to liven it up. Will have to return for the Peking Duck. The interior has a NYC chic look. Great for date night.

A nice mix of fusion with flavors that complimented each other perfectly. We had a big party and they were able to accommodate us with ease. The decoration in the restaurant was beautiful too. the chef even came out and spoke to us before dinner ended!

I first want to start off by saying this is my OPINION and platforms like this exist to allow people to express their opinions. I went into this restaurant skeptical because I just recently read an article that they threatened legal action on someone for a review they posted. I will start off to say the service was great. The drinks were also pretty good. The thing I was not expecting was the hefty, oh so very hefty price tag. We walked out the door with tip for 2, spending over $200. We had 2 appetizers and 2 specialities which they say are shareable. We also had 5 drinks. Gyoza was good. Egg roll is sold as 1 big roll with the ground meat inside. It was not flavorful to me, just bland. Next the fried rice... for my taste and opinion it was mostly egg and way too much prosciutto. Barely any rice. No way on gods green earth do I think that worth $38. I could get fried rice from the local Chinese takeout that tastes better for 1/5 the price. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the price of that. The noodles were okay, I don't believe they were worth $32. Lastly, the decor was more of a nightclub vibe not what I would think as a high end restaurant with the type of food they served. Overall I personally would not come back and I do not believe the prices were worth the quality/quantity of the food.

The restaurant was a pleasant surprise!! We found it on a whim and they had an open reservation so we took it. The interior is nicely decorated and the service is top tier. The owners were super friendly and the chef even came out and greeted us. The food was full of flavor and everything was delicious! We had the dumplings tower, prime rib, salt & pepper shrimp, and noddles w/lamb. We'd definitely come back and try other items on the menu. 10/10

I really enjoy this restaurant because they're one of the only restaurants that has the soup dumplings that are pescatarian or veggie friendly. Most soup dumplings only have meat. The service here is very good. They are very educated with their menu and come quickly. The ambience is super nice very large restaurant and never really too busy. They are quick with service and food and it's very hot and tasty every time we'll be back.

Finally had a chance to try out the new location on platt. The decor is so pretty, with nice booths. Service was nice and fast. We ordered food and drinks right away , decent amount of vegetarian options and everything came out pretty quickly! Loved everything we got, had to avoid the dried chilies as that was too spicy for me. My fav part ended up being the cauliflower, miss lilly mocktail and the banana pie dessert!

We started with the spicy XO beef, which was probably my biggest disappointment. It was very bland, not spicy at all, and I didn't really see or taste much XO sauce. I'm honestly not sure how it earned the "XO" name. The XO turnip cake, on the other hand, was probably the best thing we ate. The texture was soft and nicely cooked, it was well seasoned, and it had plenty of the dried shrimp and savory little bits that made it genuinely delicious. The Shanghai dumplings were decent, but the dough was noticeably thick and the filling itself could have used more seasoning. The Hong Kong duck was roasted well, with beautifully crisp skin, but the seasoning was inconsistent. Some bites were delicious, while others were surprisingly bland. The chicken feet were fall-apart tender and perfectly cooked, though they didn't really stand out beyond that. We also tried the steamed custard buns, which were fluffy, soft, and pleasantly not too sweet. Service unfortunately didn't help the experience. Our server was just okay -- he refilled our water once but never really checked back in to see how we were enjoying the food. At one point, I had to get up myself to grab takeout boxes. Nothing was outright rude, but for a restaurant at this level, I expected much more attentive and polished service. The restaurant itself was ok, the decor is nice but the bathroom needs some car. The table was a bit dirty when they sat us down. Overall, there were a couple of genuinely good dishes, but too much of the meal was uneven -- especially the seasoning -- and the service felt surprisingly hands-off. For a restaurant carrying one Michelin star,I left wondering what exactly I was missing.

My older son only ate a bowl of rice and some pan fried noodles. My dad thought the shrimp dumplings were pretty good (and he eats a lot of them) and then ordered a huge array of other food. They were sadly out of Chinese broccoli so we didn't eat any greens. This place is huge. We were the first people at 11 a.m. on a Monday. It's nice that it's right next to MD Oriental so you can eat dim sum and then go grocery shopping. The waitress was very nice. When my son was disappointed that they didn't have fortune cookies, she gave him egg tarts for free. I've never seen such nice service at a dim sum place before. That meant a lot to him. It looks like this place also serves as a banquet hall, since they have colorful lights and a giant tv (like the size of a wall!) that plays music videos. There were a lot of smaller rooms off tot he side that look like they either hold private parties or karaoke. I like this place and I'd definitely come back. The menu is a little limited (for example, they don't have tripe), but they have the main staples.

We started with dim sum: taro dumplings (three pieces) and shark fin dumplings (four pieces) -- despite the name, there's no shark fin involved, it's just named for the shape, which resembles a shark fin. Filling-wise it tasted like a shu mai with pork and shrimp, just sealed closed rather than open-topped. Their house-made hot chili sauce was a standout -- just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dumplings. For entrées, I went with the Com Thit Nuong (Vietnamese grilled pork chop with egg), and my wife had the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pork and shrimp crepe). We also ordered the salt and pepper calamari, which stole the show for me -- the batter was light and perfectly seasoned, fried up crunchy, and tossed with garlic and hot chilies. Hands down my favorite dish of the night. They also do a Mandarin-style pork chop that reminds me of the Peking-style pork chops you'd find in Chinatown, NYC -- a nice touch for anyone missing that flavor down here in Florida. Between the variety, the quality, and the consistency, Ha Long Bay remains a go-to for us. Highly recommend going in with a group so you can sample across all three cuisines.
