I came on Easter for brunch! The wait was long (as expected) so we put our name in ahead so we could get seated as soon as we got there, which worked out perfectly. Food 4/5: The menu had a variety of brunch food options. I got the Greek omelet which I really did enjoy. I got a side of potatoes which were alright. I wouldn't say the meal was anything special by any means but I enjoyed it. My friend's meal was messed up so she didn't enjoy it as much. Atmosphere 5/5: Very cute location and restaurant inside! We shared a long high top table with another party. They have a cute patio out front. Service 2.5/5: I know it was Easter so they were busy, which caused the service to be really slow. Second attempt at half and half worked out much better for us. This time, we were only a group of three, so seating wasn't an issue. We arrived at about 9:00 AM on a Friday morning. We were seated right away but the restaurant isn't large and there wasn't much seating left. We shared three dishes- the Clara cakes, veggie hash, and S'mores French Toast. Our server, Drea, was friendly and attentive, keeping our coffee mugs full. :) The s'mores French toast is a tall stack of rich breakfast goodness. Thank goodness we shared because 1/4 of the stack was plenty for me. (And I do love my sweets!) The Clara cakes were solid. While not overly inventive, they were tasty and served in large portion. We had extra to bring home. I would've enjoyed them more if they'd had more raspberry. Finally, the veggie hash was the perfect savory dish to balance our otherwise sweet meal. The Brussels Sprouts dominate the dish - they were fresh and prepared nicely. Glad we were able to give Half and Half a second chance. read more

Well my breakfast/brunch was absolutely DELICIOUS! I was seated quickly even though they didn't find my reservation. Nevertheless, the staff was very attentive. I would have preferred patio but with it being such a beautiful day and I hadn't had an early reservation I was happy to be seated quickly. The inside was okay, just a regular restaurant with homey decor. The inside wasn't anything spectacular. However the food was great! I ordered the Avocado toast. It was good but just a dash of sea salt would have been better. I ordered the Lux Benedict and the eggs were perfect! My son ordered the French Toast and he liked it. It was a lot of food and I could barely eat half. So, I would recommend adding half servings to the menu. Potatoes were hot and fresh and my mimosa was fine just a bit pricey for a mimosa. Visited this restaurant during the weekday for Brunch, and even then it was still packed. Make sure to give yourself enough time for the wait list or make reservations (if available). I was very happy with their coffee selection - they serve blueprint coffee. My breakfast dish was a little surprising. I did not expect the BLT to be served this way. To this day, I still don't know why it was served with lettuce even thought their menu said siracha slaw. Maybe I'm just not that sophisticated with salad terms. The dressing was a little weird for me and I'm not sure if it was because of the combination of lettuce and eggs. I was expecting the slaw or lettuce to be on the side. Anywho, the rest of the food was good. The fruit is an upcharge, but as you might already know from previous reviews, I don't eat potatoes. If you go on a hot summer day, make sure to go comfy because the sun is going to be beating on you. Oh, GREAT customer service. And it's a dog friendly patio. read more

A nice quaint spot to have brunch. In general the prices were pretty high but I was satisfied with the portion given. The sausage and biscuits were delicious and the over easy eggs had perfect runny yolks. The gravy was definitely on the peppery end, which I do enjoy. I also had an espresso, and while I personally don't like the taste, it did have a unique flavor profile. Absolutely dreadful experience. I've been here once before and honestly the food was great. However, that was a while ago and while I went today, I wouldn't be able to tell you whether or not the food was good because we were not served. When we first walked in there were a few tables occupied, but it was no where near as busy as it usually is. We were greeted with a "table for 2?" and then the server just walked off. We didn't know whether or not we were supposed to follow her, but ended up doing so and she gave us our menus. Afterwards, she walked off and we were not met with service for almost 30 minutes. In the meantime, our server was making rounds, seating and even serving people who came well after us. Our server would look at our table, but not approach us as if she was intentionally ignoring us. Unfortunately, this treatment rubbed us the wrong way, and we finally left after being neglected for a bit longer. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby within walking distance, with both spectacular food and service so the experience was nothing but a 30 minute time waster. read more

The kitchen for whatever reason was working off a severely limited menu and there were about 3 choices for main dishes. The kitchen couldn't even cook an egg to put on avocado toast - you're a breakfast restaurant and can't cook an egg? Just a messy sub-par experience. First time at Half & Half based off local friends recommendation for brunch. Parking is in the rear lot, or by street. The walks out front were tidy as was the front patio. However, no chairs and tables were set out Our party was not interested in the patio anyway on a warm late August day. Our server was immediately attentive and remained that way throughout our service. She was very busy with a slam packed Sunday brunch crowd, so there were sometimes she was absent when refills were a bit low on water and coffee. Also initial check-in with food was a bit tardy. She however, was friendly, smiled and took care of our needs when present. My order the Salmon Hash / two sunny eggs, potatoes, spinach, cream, capers & hollandaise served in a hot skillet. Side of sourdough toast. Paired with a house coffee. The sourdough is a must choice out of the few varieties to choose from. A fabulous dish. Others in our party loved their meals including my sons S'mores French Toast which was huge and tasty. When back in St. Louis I will be returning. read more

I'm a regular at the Webster Groves location now, but I still need to give a shout out to the location that started it all. This visit was not about breakfast, it was about lunch. I arrived in time to snatch a barstool at the bar. Dining alone on a Wednesday has its advantages. I prefer the bar over the community high top, especially when I am alone. My personal space is more controlled at the bar. I started my lunch off with a Dark & Stormy. Another advantage I had is being off on Wednesday, means I can drink at lunchtime. The D&S was so cool and refreshing. Served in a traditional tall collins glass, with a circular lime garnish. I got a giggle that took me back to my childhood. This adult beverage was served with a bendable straw. How cool is that. My entree was a, Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich with Fries. I just could bring myself to order the breakfast potatoes as my side at lunchtime. The fries were a long slender cut and served hot & crisp. The HFC, reminded of Nashville Hot, but not as intense. At least for me, however it did have a few beads of sweat pop up on my forehead. It's served on a brioche bun with lettuce and a spread of aioli. Then it is garnished with one of their famous house pickles. Oh, so delicious. It was a nice switch up from a typical burger which is very good here as well. Will I return? - Yes, for memories. Half & Half seems to be a staple for brunch in the St. Louis suburbs and was packed when we arrived. We used the Waitlist application to strategically avoid the long wait, and when we arrived at​ this restaurant, we realized we had put our name down for the other location. Don't make this dumb mistake like me! Thankfully, the manager was extremely accommodating​ and sat us at a table within 30 minutes. By then, we had already chosen our orders, and the friendly waitress managed​ to convince the majority of our table to change their decision and order the Clara Cakes. These pancakes are apparently one of the most popular items on the menu and were surely a hit among my friends. They were extensively topped with mascarpone​, raspberries, powdered sugar and could definitely be shared between two people. I decided to order the Veggie Hash with egg white and whole wheat toast. The dish was average at best, but I did enjoy the crispy texture of the potatoes. If I had ventured out more and tried something else, I probably would have enjoyed my meal more. The one weird aspect of this restaurant was the bathrooms. While the entire restaurant is decorated really well, the bathrooms had poor lighting with​ a single lamp and were​ not especially clean. I met up with my sister and mom this morning for brunch before we went out shopping. We waited beyond our time on Waitlist by 30 minutes; not a big deal - the food coming out looked and smelled great. Once we were seated, I thought the food and coffee were both delicious. I would not recommend the donuts because they taste like a fried dinner roll but the rest of it was great, especially the breakfast tacos. Within about 30 minutes of eating, everyone that went to breakfast was sick and has been sick all afternoon. I have no issue with a long wait time or food taking awhile; that's all part of going to brunch in Saint Louis on the weekend. What I do have a problem with is unsafe practices or carelessness when it comes to the ingredients used that lead to customers getting sick. The food was great but I won't be back and would highly suggest taking time to examine what could be done differently so that this isn't a reoccurring issue. read more
