Love this place. Inside has big windows & great light - outside has a darling patio for outdoor seating. Wait staff is friendly & accommodating & most importantly the food is amazing! WHAT A GREAT FIND!!!! The service was great!!! Jenn was so sweet and so attentive to serving us what we felt like having for instance i wanted the Chorizo Scramble (homemade chorizo) but i wanted tortillas instead of bread and beans instead of hashbrowns. Then i wanted some potatoes also.. Jenn (our server was very accomodating.. we also got the wheat and sunflower seed waffles.... The food was delish! I returned to Half Day after an absence of 5 years. I went on a Wednesday morning when the restaurant was only half full. For me the service was excellent, my food very good to excellent, and prices more reasonable than expected. I especially enjoyed the fruit bowl, since all the fruit was fresh (not mushy) and ripe. This little gem is tucked away off Sir Francis Drake. We have only been there twice and both times for Brunch on busy Sunday's. The first time we sat outside the second inside. Especially on a nice morning/early afternoon when the sun is shining and the patrons waiting with you are pleasant. I've been here a few times now and each time it has been consistent with the last. I've never had bacon that was flavorless before. Until I ate here! First time for everything. Boyfriend didn't like his lemon poppy seed pancakes, I didn't even bother to taste them. My Bay shrimp salad would have been awesome had there been any flavor to it whatsoever. The sun dried tomatoes in it were good, I'll give them that. Half Day Cafe has been our go to place for breakfast and lunch for years. In the former Kentfield garage, the space is really great -- open and bright, with lots of light. On a sunny day the terrace is a lovely place to eat as well. The food is terrific -- their scones are my favorite way to start a day, omelettes are fluffy and offered with many possible add-ons, and their Half Day Parfait -- granola, yogurt, and fresh fruit -- is delicious. Came here on a Sunday for breakfast. Parking in the rear is a big plus. There is nothing worse than wasting your time looking for a parking. We were seated outside right away. The server came right after to give us the menu. She was very nice, friendly and energetic. Not more than a few minutes after taking our orders, our food were served. The orange butter is heavenly! The French Toast with peaches were very good. We also tasted their biscuit scone - this was a perfect pair to the orange butter. This place had attentive and friendly servers. I used to get the eggs Benedict which is super tasty, until I tried the huevos rancheros. They are the bomb!! I order it with my eggs over medium and the sour cream on the side with tortillas. My parents have been taking me here since I was a child and still do. Now my boyfriend and I love to come here for brunch as well! We are never disappointed. The food is phenomenal and always super fresh and delicious. I've tried many different things on the menu over the years from every category ranging from breakfast-lunch-pastries-dessert-beverages and I have loved every single thing. Half Day is such a gem and the people in Marin know it. I have never seen them not busy on a weekend. However their wait is never ridiculously long. The wait on a Sunday morning wasn't too bad, though parking was a bit tricky. The food was good. The pancakes gi-normous. My scamble was tasty. The tables are a bit scrunched together too much, and it has a bit of a cafeteria flair that I'm not so fond of, but good. After all, there was papaya and mango in my fruit cup side. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Marin. I have food allergies and they are always accommodating. The food is fresh and not greasy. I almost always order a daily special. I love their omlettes. My dining companions always rave about the pastries. The setting is fantastic- bright and open. I have been coming here since they discovered electricity (okay-a long time anyway.) Hands down the best (blackened) burger on the planet. I'm not even a burger person, or not unless it is this one. I order it medium rare, with jack cheese and a side of their wonderful, perfectly dressed caesar salad. You can have it with fries (which are wonderful) but since I put the whole darn serving of cajun aoli (9000 calories probably) on my bun, I try to show a little bit of discipline and have it with a salad. Paired with their pink lemonade-this is heaven. Just had one on Saturday and then walked 10 feet to 2nd St. Books and it was a little bit of bliss in the middle of the day. If I ever do come for breakfast-their breakfast is killer and their latte bowl is yummy enough to want to dive in. They have got their act together-always have. This place is beautiful inside and out. The food is delicious and a bit healthier than your usual diner fare. The whole wheat sunflower seed waffle was delightful with the orange butter and marion berry jam. Hubbs got the Italian scramble that was also quite tasty. Only downside was the hash browns- soggy and flavorless, and the pecan raisin cinnamon roll- just not that great, however the other pastries- biscuits, scones, muffins looked really good. Coffee is free and your cup never goes empty. Great service and again a lovely space. Would recommend to anyone! read more

Can't believe this place is just down the street from my office! I've been working in Marin now for the last 6 years and had not yet "discovered" this cafe until now. I had the goat cheese salad and pink lemonade earlier this week for lunch. Ate outside on the patio. It was a beautiful day and the restaurant is in such beautiful surroundings that you just feel at peace eating here. Half Day redefines the scone. The best by far. My favorite is the orange currant scone, freshly baked daily with butter. They melt in your mouth..a real treat. Came here with my fiance famished from not eating breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at how big the place was. From walking by I always thought this place was really small. We were so hungry we ordered a chile relleno, an italian scramble and the breaded chicken breast sandwich. And we finished every bite of it. They were all delicious. The bun on the breaded chicken breast was good. The black beans with chile relleno had additional spice that made my fiance likr out more. I also loved that for the omelets you could choose an english muffin, toast, or for 25¢ more you could get a pastry. Service was good, food was good. There was a 20 min wait to be seated but there is complementary coffee while you wait. So you may be wondering why did I give it 4 stars then.
