Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Most companies told me that there is a shortage of equipment due to manufacturer shutdown during the Covid epidemic and I needed to place an order asap for fulfillment between 1-2 weeks. Jason and his team were able to get replacement equipment the same day (They worked diligently to 10pm to ensure we had AC that night). For some reason he wasn't experiencing the same supply issues that others mentioned. 3) Knowledge. Jason has paid his dues being the industry for 18 years, he has a master HVAC license and he's personally involved in every job. 4) They threw in extras. We were told a part needed to be ordered to correct the issue and trying to contact this company in any shape/form/fashion was not only unequivocal but a circuitous process between the home warranty company and K&B directly (who we were instructed to follow up with from home warranty). We called the number listed on the website only to receive the message that the mailbox was full. We were redirected to a dispatcher who only offered the explanation for no repeated calls back after 2-3 days that she was "only the dispatcher." After one week of no AC in 90+ degree weather, I went through the home warranty system yet AGAIN to schedule a follow-up. The day of, I received a call from the same technician to be told that he wasn't even certain the part had been ordered and had no idea why the follow-up was scheduled. I texted the number the dispatcher provided (and yes, she said to text if he did not answer) multiple times in very polite manners pleading for communication and received absolutely NOTHING.
