We decided that we would go out last night and an elite Yelper raved about HALO Rooftop BAR in Long Beach California so we ended there & so glad we did. Appetizers were good used very good ingredients cooked to your liking and big servings. Service was tremendous. Didn't have to ask for a refill before they were putting a refill of your drink on your table. Ambience was beautiful with the sun setting the stars shining bright the moon beaming down on the water and watching everybody have a wonderful time. Music was soft up-to-date. The whole atmosphere was pleasant and bougie.. if you're looking for a place to hang out with friends have a couple drinks eat some great appetizers. I highly recommend Halo rooftop bar. Nice spot to enjoy city lights in evening. Side walls are little high so obstructs views a bit when you're seated. Indoor and outdoor bar available with pricier drinks which one would expect anyways at this type of venue. Dj was on rooftop when i was there and not a lot of seating options. I personally think inside is better with a counter top view of city on one side and cozy chairs and corners opposite bar. I fun place for a date or meeting with friends! Service was quick inside as it was less crowded. Valet parking is in option or parking in side streets if you get lucky. read more

Very aesthetic and cute bar, the place honestly reminds me of some other places in Hollywood. There's a lot of areas to sit but there was also an open space where people can dance. DJ was playing good music but stopped his set around 10pm. Drinks are on the pricier end. I got the Fill My Cup (the pink drink with the cucumber) which was very tasty and my friend asked the bartenders to make a Mai Tai (the yellow drink). The current menu didn't have a Mai Tai listed so it looks different from the other pictures posted. I would visit frequently when this was still Cielo (before the renovations and reopening). They did a great job with the interior and exterior design because the ambiance is very classy, yet fun. Although you should expect to pay about $20+ for each drink, the view and the vibe are worth it. I went on a Tuesday evening and it got busy pretty quickly just before the sun set. There are 2 bars to order from and restrooms conveniently located on each side of the outside bar. Service is decent but the line can get backed up quickly when crowded. Well, it's finally happened, after years of waiting to see what Fairmont was going to do with the location that used to be my favorite bar in the city, Cielo, back in ancient history (2018), they finally opened, and I checked it out recently. I'm absolutely *not* remotely surprised, indeed I was expecting all of it, that a big hotel chain rooftop bar wouldn't be nearly as inventive as Cielo - an independent bar run by a cocktail genius for the benefit mainly of locals and running mainly on word of mouth - and that it would be a lot more expensive and would coast mainly on its still-excellent views, but yeah, that was definitely the result. Indeed, the views are even better now than they were, with all new windows, and especially with its expansion into a second, fairly expansive outdoor bar area where the west wall used to be (with large transparent wind-protecting "walls", but no ceiling, and a second bar on the far end.) The drinks menu, though, is quite small for now - 4 $18-19 cocktails, a $24 old fashioned variant, one $14 n/a "mockarita", and a couple very basic macro beers. Great bartenders, but hopefully the limited and not *particularly* interesting menu is just while they're still fairly new to the space. So they stars really are mostly for the location. Anyway, since I was there, I did try the most interesting thing on their current menu, the clarified mai tai (Bacardi 8, Plantation pineapple, Wray & Nephew overproof, grand marnier, lime, mango and pineapple). I wouldn't say the drink itself would be worth $19 (plus tip) anywhere you weren't also paying for the view, but clarified drinks are always fun, and while mai tais seem to be everywhere right now, this is indeed the most unique one I've had in quite some time (and it is good.) I wouldn't have any particular reason to be back other than to show someone the view, though (I really miss David's cocktails - and prices! - at Cielo, but still... there's room for a second Baby Gee, but with a view. I'm happy paying $18-19 for cocktails, just not when it's just an espresso martini.) I didn't have any particular issue with them being slow getting it to me, though (they weren't busy, though, and I suppose being clarified, that also makes the drink inherently pre-batched. 5 Stars First time here and already planning my next visit! I came during the week around 5:30pm after seeing this spot on IG, and it did not disappoint. Nathalie and Robert were so welcoming and friendly -- they really made the whole experience feel warm and personal. The space itself is super cute with plush emerald green and gold decor, and the view of downtown Long Beach and the ocean is gorgeous. It's giving girls night, happy hour hang, or date night energy all the way. There's no food at the bar, but you can head down to the Sky Room below (if you can snag a table or spot at the bar). Now let's talk about the Banana Bread Old Fashioned -- as an old fashioned connoisseur, I've gotta say, this one was top tier. Full of flavor but super well balanced -- the banana didn't overpower at all. Just smooth, creative, and seriously good. Seating is limited, so be prepared to stand if it gets crowded, but honestly, the vibe makes it worth it. Already looking forward to coming back for round two read more

We stopped by here on a Sunday evening. The views and atmosphere are really amazing. I think they should have heaters and some umbrellas on the patio, or something to that extent. The patio furniture was slight wet and there were no heaters, so everyone was inside as it was not an ideal setting to enjoy the patio though the views were phenomenal. We tried the espresso martini and the old fashioned. Both were ok, for the price point I was expecting more from the old fashioned personally. I agree with some of the other service comments, everything took quite some time even though it was not crazy busy. I had to go back and ask twice for a glass of water. I look forward to coming back during warmer days and experience the outdoor seating areas as well. read more

Went here for the first time a couple days ago and it did not disappoint. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. If ya want a drink that's not on their menu they're happy to oblige. Drinks were delicious! And the ambience was amazing! One of the worst rooftop bars I've ever been to. First off, they were clearly discriminating based on how I was dressed -- super judgmental and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. If you're not dressed exactly how they want, good luck getting treated with basic respect. Besides that, the place is tiny -- maybe 600 sq ft tops. It feels cramped and awkward, not relaxing at all. And the "view"? All you see are ugly parking lots, industrial buildings, or you're staring at the walls of taller buildings nearby. Absolutely nothing scenic or enjoyable about it. Do yourself a favor and skip this spot. Go to a rooftop in Downtown LA instead -- way better vibes, more social, better drinks, and way better views -- all for a lower price. The bar could have been a much better experience! We went to the outside bar before our dinner reservations. Since we were sitting outside, we had to go in and order at the bar. They were short staffed and I wasn't thrilled with the dirty martinis we ordered. We were there on a Thursday night, and they weren't crazy busy. My suggestion would be to have more bartenders and outside drink service. When people are paying a lot for drinks they should be served. This isn't an outdoor pool club, it's an outdoor lounge. Also maybe put some nuts out in a little ramekin. The bartender left for a bit and the bar back was trying to help but eventually said to wait for the bartender to return. I will dine at the restaurant again but definitely won't be going to Halo for a drink. read more

I've been here twice since they opened and let me start by saying that this place has SO much potential. I sincerely hope they find their groove, but currently they just are not living up to expectations. Things that are great: the view! It is a rooftop bar in downtown Long Beach. The view will always make a trip up there worth it. Drinks: not great on my first visit (Feb 2025) but much better on my second visit (April 2025). Drinks are pricey, but again, it's a rooftop bar, that's to be expected. Things that need work: the whole vibe? I don't know quite how to describe this. There is a BIG open space, I assume for dancing, but there isn't much dancing. The first time I visited, the whole space was just empty with people standing around the edges, and I thought they should add more seating because there are only like 5 chairs and they were all taken. The second time I visited, they at least had a DJ, but the music was all over the place. I think they are trying to appeal to everybody. It would work better if they picked a genre and stuck to it, or even picked different types of music for different nights Thurs-Sat? This place is going to be a go-to for many locals, so even just a social media post would be plenty of advertising. Alternatively, they could ditch the dance floor concept and add more seating and maybe some fire pits. Basically, just pick a lane and run with it rather than trying to do it all. My biggest issue and why I gave 2 stars instead of 3 was with one of the managers (or maybe she was just a rude bartender, not sure). When my group of 3 ordered drinks, she refused to let us pay separately, despite the fact that they have a half dozen hand terminals to pay with and only 2 people making drinks, so it would not have slowed anything down to let us all pay at once on separate terminals. The employee was also incredibly rude when I asked to let us pay separately (one girl just wanted soda, and one wanted multiple drinks and was planning on leaving her tab open, so the whole thing was way less convenient for us). For our next round, we ordered from the bar by the dance floor and they were happy to let us order and pay separately. Again, they have a bunch of hand terminals that they give you and you pay and hand back to them, so this wasn't taking up anybody's time! It's a ridiculous policy and even worse when a manager/bartender is rude to customers who just asked a simple question. The fact that the other bar didn't care makes me think this girl was just on a power trip - not a good look. read more

Stay for the sunset, then bail. Seating it tight. This is fine for a date or a small group.
